Unfortunately, a bit of a technological difficulties caused me to miss the first two chapters of this one, so I admit to being a bit lost at first. But it really didn't take too long for me to become totally absorbed in the growing love story between Andi and Hill. Horror writer and podcaster, Andi, lives and breathes horror as a means of dealing with her own anxiety, When she moves next door to Hill, she's instantly drawn to the handsome retired firefighter. Hill, meanwhile, still dealing with his own recovery from the catastrophic injuries that forced him to leave his dream career at the firehouse. What starts as a neighborly and friendly arrangement between the two soon develops into something much steamier.

The plot may not hold surprises, but the characters are a lot of fun. There are some funny moments - and some really rather graphic sex scenes. The audio is well-performed but this is definitely one that I solely listened to with headphones pretty quickly on - and didn't listen at all in the car, for fear that it would automatically start when someone else was in the car, as this was definitely more explicit than I expected! And the audio really means you don't miss a thing during those scenes! But despite not listening quite as much as I would usually, I was definitely invested in the characters and definitely enjoyed it! I didn't read the first book in the series, so I think I will be checking that one out - though maybe not in an audio format for my own comfort!

This was a five out of a five star! This romance had everything from reality and trauma to banters and just the best sex scenes of any romance I’ve ever read in my life! I love this even better than the first one. I am so excited that there will be a third. These group of characters have my heart forever.

This was so much more than your average rom com.

When I listened to Yes & I love You (book one of the Say Everything Series) I fell in love with the depth of the characters and immediately started watching for the next in the series.

This latest release brings together our two leading characters, Andi and Hill. Both have erected walls around their hearts from traumas each experienced in their past..

Andi Lockley’s first love turned out to be a dangerous man who left her questioning her judgement and ability to ever trust again. The thought of being with another man gives her full blown anxiety attacks.

Andi’s landlord Hill Dawson is a former firefighter who lost a leg in the line of duty. Not only did he have to retire from the fire department, but his fiancé also left him! He struggles with his identity as well as his body image.

Perhaps together they can help each other overcome their fears and move forward.

Roni Loren once again gives us genuine characters with real everyday issues. This book was filled with hope and love. In order to move forward you must come to terms and make peace with your past.
I listened to the audio and Desiree Ketchum did a brilliant job narrating!

Fingers crossed there will be another book in this series!🤞🤞

HEA~ see Goodreads review below
Would I read more by this author/or in this series~ Yes
Rating~ 4.5 stars.
★★★★1/2

Hill is forced to retire too early in his career as a fireman. Dealing with the trauma of that day as well as some bulls**t his X commenced he's now bcome a recluse until the girl who lives next door makes it physically impossible.

Andi is a fun witty podcaster that's dealing w/some PTSD of her own but is brave and ballsy and Hill finds difficult to resist.

These characters are highly relatable and their chemistry is palpable.

Roni Lorens' storytelling is one of the best and the only reason it did not get a 5 stars is bcause the narrator left me wanting...

All in all~

I can't wait for more! 💋💋💋

I loved the first book in this series, the author definitely set the bar high. What If You & Me has a lot of the same qualities that I loved in Yes & I Love You and Roni Loren does a great job navigating human relationships and individuals struggles once again.

What If You & Me was a sweet, funny, steamy and interesting read. I wasn't quite as invested in Andi and Hill as I hoped I would be but the plot was good and the characters were endearing and interesting. The audio was well done with a great narrator.

Andi is a blogger and podcaster that specializes in horror films and ways women can protect themselves. She is also very protective in her own life by carrying pepper spray, locking all of her doors, and keeping her secrets close to her chest. She might have a reason to be this way but now her new neighbor is an ex-fire fighter with his own pain and secrets and there is something about him that makes Andi want to spend time with him. Who knows they might be good for each other but first Hill, the neighbor, will teach Andi how to cook and she will introduce him to horror films. This is an enjoyable romance novel that reads fast and combines with a little thriller as well.

Andi Lockley can't seem to escape the anxiety brought on by memories of a traumatic relationship. She finds comfort in classic horror films and is working to build a name as a horror novelist and true crime podcaster.

Hill Dawson is a retired firefighter who just happens to be Andi's very grumpy landlord. Hill is still reeling from an accident that not only left him a partial amputee, but also destroyed his relationship with his fiancee.

As Andi and Hill embark upon a shaky friendship, they both begin to feel more for each other. When a "fan" of Andi's show turns threatening, Hill must turn to his ex-fiance for help.

Roni Loren has hit upon a nice balance between drama and humor to address some serious topics - with some spicy romance added to the mix. The story is well-written and the narration provided by Deseree Ketchum was perfect. I am looking forward to reading more of the "Say Everything" series.

4.5 rounded to 5 stars because I am just so obsessed with the Say Everything series. The characters are amazing, the storyline is amazing and the narrator is amazing. Such a cute romcom with some very adult scenes. Honestly though, my heart swells when I read these books.

This is book two in the Say Everything series, and if you haven’t read the first one Yes & I Love You, you really, really should! I really loved the first one, but if it’s possible I think I loved this one even more! There are some really heavy topics covered in the book (sexual and emotional abuse, serial killers, anxiety, PTSD, physical disability and more) but it’s also full of hilarious banter, and steamy tension. I thought the characters were real and wonderful and this was a book I just wanted to hug at the end.

Andi is a dealing with a past trauma, and part of her process is to write horror novels and run a podcast looking at what women can learn from horror movies and true crime. She hears her neighbor banging around at all hours (paper-thin walls) and dubs him the werewolf. Turns out he’s a grumpy ex-firefighter who has trouble sleeping after losing part of his leg during an accident on the job. After an awkward first meeting, the two strike up a friendship, which turns into friends with benefits. They help each other grow throughout the book, and each of them is trying really hard not to let their past stop them from living their lives. The two of them were really sweet, and it warmed my heart to hear their inner thoughts about each other.

The audiobook was wonderfully narrated by Desiree Ketchum (who also performed Yes & I Love You) and comes in at 9 hours and 16 minutes.

This is definitely a book you should bump up your TBR, and don’t forget to pick up a copy of the first book in the series if you haven’t read it already!

When I saw that we would be getting a book about Andi, I jumped at the first opportunity to get it! Andi was one of my favorite characters from book 1, Yes & I Love You, and I was so excited to spend more time with her. Though this book is the second in the series, you do not need to have read the first book to enjoy it. The characters from the first book still make a couple cameo appearances, but are not main players in the plot.

In what seems to be the connecting theme in this series, both of the main characters are dealing with mental and physical traumas that interfere with both life and romantic relationships. Loren has a gift for handling these issues in a way that is both real and sensitive. The characters are never ‘healed’, but they find their own ways to overcome their struggles in order to achieve what they want out of life and their relationships. The relationship itself is never the solution, just another step in each person’s respective journey. An innate understanding of this struggle between the characters provides a healthy foundation for the relationship that develops. It is refreshing to see authentic vulnerability from both the male and female character instead of falling into the trope of a ‘strong’ partner going out of the way to help a ‘fix’ a more vulnerable partner. A special shout out for making Andi’s trauma different than expected and opening up dialogue about how society views, judges, and treats different types of trauma.

Where this book excels in a lot of ways, I wish it had spent a little more time developing Hill outside of his relationship with Andi. In the previous book, each character had personal goals they were trying to achieve and we could see them working on it whether or not their partner was with them. There are some solid moments with Hill, but not at the level of some of the other characters. As a result, he just felt a little flatter by comparison. Having a brief moment where we see Hill at the grocery, struggling to motivate himself to buy ingredients for cooking rather than easy box meals or trying to find the courage to visit his old firehouse might have added a little more color to this character.

Overall, this is a charming, easy romance read with a lot of heart. There is great chemistry between the romantic partners and a few impactful moments as well. Obviously, as an adult romance, the book gets quite steamy and is not for young readers or people who are uncomfortable with more explicit content.

This book was a little to "extra" for me. What I mean by that is there was just to much of everything. Both main characters were suffering from PTSD. Both had absolutely horrible things happen to them. Both were overly good with dealing with the others feelings. It became unrelatable for me.

I really enjoyed the first Say Everything novel by Roni Loren, and this certainly did not disappoint. In small ways, I could relate to Andy's uneasiness about dating in a world where women are sometimes seen more as prey than partners. Her intrigue into true crime as connected to her past was a great driving force for the plot. The neighbor meeting neighbor trope is always a good one to follow and felt this was more realistic than other neighbor meet-cutes. We've all had an annoying neighbor! I particularly liked hearing from both Andy and Hill's point of view. As with the other Roni Loren novel, there's some spiciness to this which is always interesting to hear in audiobook format, but the narrator did such a great job. The one thing I felt may have been less than realistic (in my opinion) is Hill being ok with his ex after just a year. Maybe he's just stronger than I would be. I hold grudges a lot longer than that.

Thank you, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing the audio arc of What if You & Me by Roni Loren, narrated by Desiree Ketchum in exchange for my honest review.

What If You & Me is the 2nd book in the series, but the 1st in the series for me. We follow MC Andi Lockley, a horror writer, and crime podcaster, who struggles daily from a trauma in her past. She meets her “grumpy” next-door neighbor and landlord Hill Dawson, a former firefighter who is struggling with PTSD from a more recent trauma that ended his career as a firefighter and sent his entire world up in the air.

Both Andi & Hill are adorably sweet and compliment each other well. They are both struggling with real-life physical, mental and emotional trauma. Loren manages to write dark and difficult conversations on topics from depression, anxiety, trauma, and violence with a ton of respect, kindness, and a focus on healing, consent, and growth. I found the characters interesting and well-written. I enjoyed their quirks and vulnerability with each other, but more importantly the scenes when they weren’t together, they were still characters that I wanted to spend time with.

If you are looking for a swoon-worthy, sassy emotional read with plenty of blushing scenes, you will enjoy What if You & Me. The dark and emotional scenes are heavy, but I promise it’s worth it. You have to get down in them in order to really enjoy the happy swoon-worthy scenes. The payoff is, you get to watch two people who struggle to feel whole, build a beautiful relationship that allows them both to heal some of their trauma. Sweet romances are not usually my go-to, but I found Hill & Andi a great balance of each other, and as a Libra, that’s important to me. I would highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a romance with a little more grit.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape media for an advanced listening copy in exchange for an honest review.

I'm starting to become a big fan of Roni Loren. This is the second book I've read by them, and I once again really enjoyed it. Andi and Hill are the types of characters you really root for, and I loved the way their story played out. I found Andi to be a unique and relatable protagonist, and I enjoyed that the relationship development wasn't really stereotypical or forced.

This book takes place in the same "universe" as Yes & I Love You, and I really liked how it gave us a peek at some of the characters from that book so we could see where they are now. While a little predictable, the story was cute, kept my attention, and had a unique feel. This book isn't crazy steamy, but it does still definitely bring the steam, so readers looking for more tame romance may not be a fan.

I listened to this on audiobook and thought that it was well narrated.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I just didn't connect with this book. Weird because I enjoyed the characters in and of themselves. I can't put my finger on what I didn't connect with. Andi and Hill were both well developed and interesting characters that had depth and great back stories. I just didn't connect with them together, maybe.

The narrator of the audiobook was good. But at the same time, in the current trend of having multiple narrators, one of the female and one for the male leads, it sort of through me off having only one narrator.

Nothing the author did wrong, just not for me.

Andi Lockley has dealt with anxiety and PTSD since what happened with her first boyfriend. Now, she deals with it by being a horror writer and true crime podcaster. Former firefighter Hill Dawson is not sure what to make of his life now, after losing his leg in a work accident and then losing his fiancee to a friend. When Hill hears screaming coming from his new neighbor's house, he runs over, only to find that Andi is blaring a horror moving, not in actual trouble. A tentative bond forms between the pair. Can they open themselves up to the possibility of a relationship?

I love seeing the representation of people with mental health problems and amputees in a romance. Despite the serious issues discussed in the book, it does not weigh the whole story down. There are also a lot of lighthearted moments and hot moments as well. I enjoyed the story but did not get immersed in it. 3.75 stars, rounded up to 4

Many thanks to NetGalley for providing me an audio ARC of this book.

I loved following Andy and he’ll on their journey as individuals and as a couple. Both had pretty big issues to deal with and to overcome. It was easy to get lost in this book.I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed the narrator as well. The book deals with a lot of heavy topics such as trauma, violence, depression, and anxiety. The author does a great job adding as much positive focus on the importance of healing and self care. This was an emotional read that dabbled in true crime and horror movies which I could fun! I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Thanks to NetGalley for this opportunity to listen to the book for my honest review.

I have to say this was an easy book to love written by Robin Loren. I really throughly enjoyed getting to know the two main characters Andy and Hall. I felt empathy for their individual traumas but appreciate how each had to really learn how to cope with them. I definitely will be adding Roni Loren to my goodread authors to follow. Thank you NetGalley. I recieved an audio version of #whatifyouandme from netgalley. #netgalley

Steamy and Emotional. Andi Lockly and Hill Dawson are neighbors, landlord and tenant and becoming friends. Hill owns the duplex where they each live. Both have PTSD. Andi was abused in a past relationship. Hill, a medically retired firefighter was injured on the job and lost part of his leg. Being forced to retire has caused him to suffer depression. The gorgeous Andi is a horror fiction writer working from home. But she never feels safe and is always on guard. She trusts no one and doesn't engage in relationships. Kindred spirits, in a manner of speaking, they help each other work through their traumas while developing their own relationship. Will Andi ever feel safe? Can Hill overcome his depression and build his confidence? This is a good storyline with troubled characters. The narrator, Desiree Ketchum, does an excellent job narrating this book. Maybe it's just the fact that I reviewed the the audio version instead of written version but there is quite a bit of foul language. That said, some people are okay with that but I feel it should be noted. It adds nothing to the storyline in my opinion.
