This is my first time reading a book by Roni Loren. Although it is the second book in a series, I thought that it stood well on it's own, I thought the narrorator did a great job on the audio. Like others mentioned, I was sad that this particular arc started in chapter 3 (a glitch in Netgalley's or the publisher's part, perhaps) but I quickly caught on to what was going on. I was absolutely addicted to the storyline of the opposite attracts neighbors being in to each other other. This was a great rom-com, but it had a lot of serious subject matter as well, and some of the more risque scenes were super intense! I am definitely going to read more by this author!

Andi and Hill are two people who are both trying to navigate life post trauma. Neither of them is looking for any sort of connection other than very topical, though when they meet they both have an inkling of something more, but don’t acknowledge it. As neighbors they are friendly’ish. When someone breaks in to Andi’s apartment they let each other in past the walls they have built up and more develops. It’s a wonderfully written sweet romance about how in the midst of the darkness some understanding, humor, good food and kindness can make all the difference in the world. They’re both great people that you want to each find a HEA. I adored this audiobook and loved how the author used their experiences as a part of who they are, but it didn’t make it the entirety of who they were. I look forward to more in this series. Oh and great narration of the audiobook.

I loved Yes & I Love You and I absolutely loved this sequel as well! I switched back & forth from ebook and audiobook and both were excellent! I really enjoyed Andi as the lead of this book. Her love interest was definitely swoon worthy! I enjoyed the relationship build up and the storyline was fun but also very intense. I highly recommend checking out this 2 book series! You can read this one as a stand-alone but will miss some references to the previous book’s other characters. The first book is probably my favourite so I do recommend checking that one out first!

Thank you to the publishers and @netgalley for providing a free advanced copy of this ebook and audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book! It's not your typical Romcom.
Hill Dawson is a former firefighter who was injured and ultimately lost his leg in a fire. His neighbor, Andi Lockley escaped a dangerous guy in her teens who is now a true crime podcaster & horror author. Sparks fly when these two meet but Hill doesn't want the distraction of a pretty girl while he figures out his next steps. He can't resist playing hero though, and is willing to be Andi’s friend while she learns to trust again.
No Spoilers here, but I highly recommend this book. Steam level is a little hot, but the story is charming and an easy book to listen to.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Andi recently moved into a duplex, shared by a mysterious retired firefighter, Hill Dawson. Both Andi and Hill have dark pasts and emotional struggles they are working through. Though the two are an unexpected pair, they way they balance one another out is nothing short of magic. Will Andi and Hill be able to put aside their past trauma's to make it work or will they lose out on the attraction of a lifetime?

I listened to this story on audiobook - that being said I think for me personally, that made all the difference. If this was a book that I read, I don't think I would have enjoyed it. The story line was a bit predictable and there was a bit too much smut for my liking and because of this there are many more physical books I would prefer to read that I would enjoy more. But because my audiobook catalog is running low at the moment, this did a decent job holding my attention and I finished listening in about two sittings. The beginning of the story did have me hooked, but towards the end it just felt dragged out.

**Please note - It always pains me to leave a less than stellar review as I have the utmost respect and appreciation for authors and the content they create for us.

Oh my gosh! I absolutely adored What If You & Me. Roni Loren's style of writing flows impeccably, makes you laugh, and consumes you.

Andi and Hill are both working through their past traumas and trying to keep their feelings for each other at bay. Andi is a horror writer. Hill is a retired fire fighter with a passion for cooking...and being one hell of a gentleman.

If you're looking for a good romcom, no matter the time of year, this is it!

Narration: 5/5! I really enjoyed listening to this in auidobook format.

The ONLY thing I didn't love about this book was the male MC's name, and that's only because Hill Dawson feels like it needs to be Dawson Hill lol

I was looking forward to this. It was hard to really get into and connect to this book since the audiobook started at chapter 3. I'm going to have to just buy a copy so I can read the whole thing.

“What would book Andi do?” -From What if You & Me

4 stars

This is a charming little love story between a sunshine and a grump- AND MY COPY STARTS AT CHAPTER THREE! Even listening to the audio sample only gets you 13 of the first minutes, which makes you miss most of the first meet cute! I hope to update this review when/if the whole copy is sent. I really adored how complex the characters, and the build up to the steamy parts. I was pulling for this couple the whole time! The pacing was great, making me what to find out what happens next. The resolution with his ex happened WAY to fast-she still cheated! When you were hurting the most! People if you want to end a relationship- just break it off first! I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Thank you to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for a partial advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

The audio version of this started at chapter three, which made it a bit difficult to get into the book. Luckily, I also had the e-copy of the book, so I read those chapters on the ebook, then started the audio.

I really enjoyed these two main characters. I liked how they ended up being a great balance for each other. This does cover some pretty heavy topics, and I thought they were written about really well!

Since this audiobook was missing the beginning chapters, I couldn’t listen to it, it was too annoying to start in the middle. I did report the flaw to NetGalley who quickly responded that they had contacted the publisher, but there was no further follow-up. I also put a warning in the “Notes to the Publisher” section of the reviews, but got no response there, either. Maybe I’ll try again in the future if the error is corrected.

Andi is a horror movies aficionado and tuns a podcast about true crime, all in order to cope with her own demons. Hill is a former firefighter that after a work accident had to retire early due to a disability. They soon find common ground in their trauma and start a friendhsip to try to help the other overcome it.

This book started on chapter 3 which was very odd, but it was such a fun read I don't even mind it anymore! The characters were very likeable, their relationship believable, their traumas felt real, and the story was a great mix of lught fluffiness and serious subjects.

I definitely recommend this book and I'm very curious to read more about this author.

I had no idea this is the second in a series but it didn’t make me love it any less! I listened to this book in a single day. I love that it’s a romance wrapped around a final girl story, with some genuine character growth.

After reading Yes and I Love You, I was very interested in Andi's book. She was such a curiosity to me. She refused to give up on making friends with Hollyn and her perceived RBF, seemed so happy with her lot in life, and was invested in her horror stories and podcast. The juxtaposition for this affable girl and her jobs of choice were fascinating.
Andi by day is extroverted and buoyant. By night, she writes horror novels and does research for her podcast by watching Scream at high decibels. Mostly to drown out the cowboy music that comes through the thin walls from her practically invisible neighbor, Hill.
I did not read reviews or much of the context of this book prior to binge reading it. Based on Yes and I Love You, I expected a lot more humor in addition to a great character arc and romance. While the humor was largely diluted in comparison, Roni wove in a plot that kept me on my toes. The direction was unexpected but equally enjoyable. I appreciate Roni's ability to give her characters depth.
I mixed media for this read, going back and forth between the e-book and audiobook. When I can, this is a great method to read through a book in "one sitting". I can easily switch between the two depending on what life throws my way. The narrator, Desiree Ketchum, does a great job invoking Andi's feelings, whether its love or fear.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for the advanced copy and Dreamscape Media for the alc. All thoughts in this review are my own.

As a long time stan for Roni Loren I was thrilled to get this ARC to read, and it did not disappoint. Hill & Andi aren’t your typical grump/sunshine couple. Her sunshine is covering up deep anxiety issues, and his grump is covering his hurt and depression. Yes, there are definitely deep mental health issues covered in this book, but Loren covers them all with understanding and sensitivity (as she always does with these issues). Rarely do you see a couple in a romance novel that are so well matched. Andi brings Hill out of his shell and into the world more, and she accepts him scars and all. Hill gives security and confidence to Andi, and has no problem working around her trust issues with relationships (including sex). Not to mention he teaches her how to cook, thereby rescuing her from a life of boxed mac & cheese. What more could you want?

Thank you to NetGalley & Sourcebooks Casablanca for this advanced reader copy. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This audiobook was super engaging and enjoyable!! The author did a fantastic job depicting trauma, disability, and gender-based oppression. The book got a bit repetitive at times: the characters would say the same thing over and over again with no development throughout pretty much the entire book. However, I felt that attribute was pretty forgivable given how much I enjoyed the rest of the book. The romance was charismatic and delicious, the the spicy scenes were some of the best I've read from a romance book. Highly recommend!

What If You & Me by Roni Loren

Andi and Hill both have had tragic pasts. Andi is a horror novelist and true-crime podcaster. She narrowly escaped from a dangerous relationship with a man years ago.

Hill is a retired firefighter who struggles with PTSD from losing part of his leg in a rescue gone wrong.

Both struggling from their past aren’t ready for a serious relationship. Both just want to focus on being comfortable with life again. But it’s undeniable that they are attracted to each other.

They bring out the good in each other. Helping each other better themselves.

Unfortunately this audiobook didn’t start till chapter 3. So I missed a little. That aside I still really enjoyed listening to this book. I enjoyed their growing relationship and how they both were able to open up their hearts. A sweet love story.

Thank you Roni Loren, Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the audio to listen to this book in return for my honest review!

The audiobook copy I got from NetGalley started at Chapter 3 of the book. Luckily I had a physical copy as well, but once I had started reading it didn't make much sense to switch back to listening. I listened to a couple chapters to get a feel for the production and the narrator, and enjoyed what I heard! I thought the narration fit the story well.

For the story itself: Yes & I Love You was one of my favorite books this year, so I was so excited to receive an early copy of What If You & Me from Sourcebooks.

Andi was one highlight of many from the first book, and I couldn’t wait to dive into her story. She is a crime writer and podcaster, and learning about serial killers every day plus her own life experiences has led to some pretty serious anxiety. Hill is a firefighter suffering from PTSD and grief over a failed engagement. They are undeniably attracted to each other, but neither is in the place to start a new relationship.

I love how these two characters were able to lean on each other for support, and understand each others’ trauma through the lens of their own. Their chemistry was also spot on! This book was a little less steamy than the first one in the series, but I still loved the romantic scenes.

I can’t wait to see who the next book in the series will be about! I’m guessing Eliza, since she was really the only outside character besides Jasper and Hollyn.

Must have been a mixup. Audio starts on chapter three. If they fix it, I’ll write a review. That’s all the feedback I have for the publisher. Thanks.

I hate even giving a rating because its not the author’s fault but the audio book started at chapter 3 so I couldn’t listen to the audiobook.

This one was just okay. I believe this is a standalone in a series as I didn't read the first book, but I also felt I didn't miss anything. I just wised there was more of an emotional buildup between the main couple. I couldn't really see the connection between the two. I did enjoy the premise though. It was interesting.

Narrator Desiree Ketchum did a great job, I also loved her H voice too!

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
