The Ark represented the pinnacle of Indiana Jones’ archaeological career and is one of the most sought after relics from the Bible. It was lost to history and has never been recovered.

Bible historians remind us that Jeremiah was the Jewish prophet who escaped the ruins of Jerusalem with the Ark of the Covenant in 587 BC. He warned the king about the coming destruction and was imprisoned. After he was released, modern scholars believe that he sailed to Ireland and is buried with the Ark of the Covenant about a mile from Dublin. Could Cairn T in Ireland be the tomb of the Prophet Jeremiah? Is the ark buried here? This is the premise of Laurence O’Bryan’s, “The Time Has Come.”

Protagonist, Rachel Davis, a troubled archaeologist, wants to find the Ark of the Covenant and invites her colleagues to visit a dig at Mt. Sinai in Egypt. Many believe that the ark was created here and now Rachel has found something buried in the copper mine in the mountain.

Meanwhile, Devlin Lang, an app developer, is funding a dig for the lost Ark in Ireland. He needs Rachel to interpret some Hebrew writing his team has found.

O’Bryan creates an emotional connection with his readers, which is important in pulling them forward. He focuses on the basic emotions of desire, danger and fear to create tension. His writing truly explains how it feels to be in a given situation. He represents reality in a believable way. Readers will feel these emotions when an earthquake traps Rachel underground and when Lang’s app sends warning reminders that someone who has been in contact with the Covid-19 virus is nearby.

This book is for you if:
-you appreciate authors who don’t spend too much time on exposition, back story and detail
-you appreciate authors who allow readers to fill in the gaps rather than give in to the urge to explain
-you are fascinated with finding the lost Ark of the Covenant
-you are fascinated with archaeological digs

Areas I felt needed more explaining:
-the title and cover
-every third chapter....the relevance went over my head...

I was gifted this copy by Laurence O’Bryan, BooksGoSocial, and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

This was a fast paced and completely different kind for book than I normally read but I raced through it and my only thought is where can I get more of this. Seriously I need a sequel ASAP. Read this book if you enjoy engaging characters and thrills and excitement and just read it.
