Perry is unlike any other female Christian author out there. She isn’t afraid to go deep and talk about hard things. She is one of the few women in the modern Christian Era that just feels so different in the best kind of way. Her writing carries weight and reminds me of how I view writings of Elisabeth Elliot. This book is powerful as it explores the holiness of God. It’s one of the best books I’ve ever read on the subject and had to move through slowly to absorb it all. Couldn’t recommend Perry enough!

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to review this book!

The topic of holiness is one that is important to the life of a Christian. What does it really mean when we say that God is holy? In her new book, Jackie Hill Perry focuses on the holiness of God and what that means for believers. I really enjoyed Perry's through, well-researched look at holiness. He writing is clear and thoughtful and uses great logic to drive home that point that if God is holy, there is no reason for him not to be trusted. I really enjoyed thinking about the character of God and walking through Perry's beautiful writing. It is a book I will continue to come back to.

I greatly appreciated why Jackie wrote this book. It was simply to point us to God. We can not be or do holiness as if it’s a list to accomplish, as so many other books, on this subject, tend to do. We need to behold the only Holy one & desire Him above all else. He alone can give us peace & that’s what this book beautifully leads us to. We can trust Him. Thank you so much for giving us this arrow of truth Jackie. Press on!

What we believe governs how we behave. What we gaze upon with our eyes and dwell upon with our thoughts, we will become. Misplaced faith informs our life (pp. 1440) We are made in the image of God and His children are to be (come) holy as He is holy. Before the how, Jackie shows us the why by exploring the Scriptures that speak of the living God who is a consuming fire as well as the very means of our transformation. This writing sharpened and makes me long even more to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel . Set apart for God alone. Holy.

Perry has a very eloquent writing style and beautifully captures a topic that, as John Piper notes, really hasn't been discussed enough. A great look at a theological topic that's been underplayed in favor of more "inspirational" material.
