How can author Patricia get better which each book when her previous novels are already outstanding?!
I love the dynamics of this story. Was there indeed a break-in at her great aunt's house? Are her life-threatening incidents attempts at her life? Are they connected to the murder investigation she's working on or some other secret lying within her great-aunt's house? With the mistrust, Ainsley carries everyone as a suspect, including her father and ex! Action filled, ashes from a dead romance flickering, Patricia kept me hooked with every twist and drove it home with one final unexpected turn! This novel is a must for romantic suspense lovers!!

Patricia Bradley offers another great story in her latest novel, “Crosshairs.” We follow the story of Ainsley Beaumont, a Natchez native who works for the Investigative Services Branch, as she returns home to investigate the murder of a pregnant teenager. She is joined in the investigation by her old beau, Lincoln Steele, a former FBI sniper whose career at the bureau ended tragically. As danger moves closer to Ainsley, Lincoln has to find a way to overcome his past, if he is to protect her.

Just who is after them and why???

Crosshairs was another one of those books that I've read recently without taking notice of the plot synopsis until after I've started it. I really liked book two in the Natchez Trace Park Rangers series, I still need to read book one, and I enjoy Patricia Bradley's romantic suspense so it naturally followed that I would want to read this one as well.

Crosshairs had some of my favorite elements ever for both mysteries and romantic suspense alike. Centuries old family secrets, lost diaries, a mysterious murder, and multiple suspects with a lot to lose and everything to gain if our heroine and hero are eliminated from the equation. Patricia Bradley certainly did this story up right with lots of suspects, motives galore, red herrings and wild goose chases, and some pretty twisted twists and turns that included a few unexpected surprises.

Crosshairs kept me guessing and second guessing as to exactly who done what and why they did it. I did figure some things out, I even kept doggedly suspecting one person of guilt only I wasn't sure exactly what they did...until they up and did it surprisingly close to the end. Seriously, Patricia Bradley doesn't let up on her characters or her readers from the very first page until the very last. Danger, intrigue, romance, and drama pack this story and don't back down... Who knew the Natchez Trace Park Rangers, or at leas the fictional ones, have it so exciting?! Of course, you'll just have to read this book for yourself to find out HOW exciting that is...

Diaries from the past and their long rumored secrets are at the center of this mystery in the latest Natchez Trace Park Rangers. Ranger Ainsley Beaumont, based in Tennessee, is sent back to her hometown to investigate the murder of a teenage girl. Unexpected events occur as her Aunt Cora is assaulted and the historical family diaries are discovered to be missing. Former FBI agent Lincoln Steele, now Interpretive Natchez Trace Ranger, is enlisted to help Ainsley as her life is threatened by an escaped prison convict.

The past relationship between Ainsley and Linc is revisited as they each discover that their feelings are still very much there and they must trust each other if there is any hope of a future for them. I liked both Ainsley and Linc and thought they were terrific. I was rooting for them all the time to work things out between themselves. Ainsley had to learn to trust again and I was glad to see her be able to do that. Linc had to deal with guilt and PTSD and it was great to see him move forward.

There were several surprises in the story which made for an interesting plot. I also thought the discussions about faith that were interspersed throughout were apropos and tastefully presented. I would recommend this book if you are a fan of romantic suspense and mystery.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of the book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Patricia Bradley is fast becoming the queen of suspense Christian fiction. Her novels continue to excite readers with her unique blend of danger, plot twists, and light romance. Her books are exciting and fast-paced without all the blood and gore.

In the book, Crosshairs, Ainsley Beaumont has returned to her hometown to investigate a murder. Another mystery involving her elderly aunt falls right in her lap. Someone is after the very old diaries Ainsley's aunt has found and will stop at nothing to make sure they don't see the light of day. Additionally, someone in the community is selling marijuana to the local high school kids and somehow connects to the young lady that was murdered. Ainsley needs help to unravel the mysteries surrounding her homecoming, but did it have to be her old flame, Linc Steele? Talk about awkward! Linc is wrestling with his own problems, but also wants to keep Ainsley safe. Can they work together and figure out who is behind all this?

I finished the book in two evenings. I just had to find out what was in those diaries that was so important. I also had to know how everything would connect. I am happy to say that the author did a good job of tying up all the loose ends in a satisfying ending.

Crosshairs is packed with action, a little bit of love, and a pinch of Christianity.

This third book in the Natchez Trace Park Rangers Series from Patricia Bradley follows Ainsley Beaumont, a special agent of the Investigative Services Branch of the National Park Service. Although she grew up in Natchez area and still has family there, she’s actually in town investigating the death or a high school-aged girl in the Natchez Trace Park.

The cast of characters is quite diverse. It includes Lincoln “Linc” Steele, a former FBI sniper and Ainsley’s former love interest. Ainsley’s family includes her dad, currently running for governor in an upcoming primary, her grandmother, and her great aunt (grandmother’s sister) who lives across the street. There’s also a murderer who just escaped from prison and wants revenge against Ainsley for helping to convict him. And then there’s a blonde news reporter who always seems to show up with her videographer at the worst possible time.

There are several main plots. In addition to the case that brought Ainsley back to Natchez, there is a series of handwritten diaries from the mid-nineteenth century that could clear the name of a long lost relative, but the diaries have disappeared.

Bradley stitches the several plots together seamlessly. It’s clear that each plot will have its own climax. What amazed me was how nicely the author paced the story so that none of the plots got cold, and yet it seemed they they would reach their climax at about the same time.

Speaking of pacing, there’s something else I want to mention. I’m not sure if this was intentional, but as I was reading the story, whenever I came to a spot where I thought I would put it down, there was some action, or something was revealed in dialogue, that enticed me to keep reading - and I did. Does Patricia Bradley really know her readers that well?

There are some great reveals in this story. Actually, almost every plot has its own reveal, and some of them were very surprising to me.

The book is quite well edited. Bradley makes wonderful use of dialogue and action to move the story along. I can’t recall a single moment when the pace of the story stagnates.

If you’ve never read anything by Patricia Bradley before, this would be a good book to start with. Even though part of a series, the story completely stands on its own. I can’t imagine anyone not enjoying it!

I often receive raised eyebrows when I mention that I enjoy Christian suspense. They probably wonder how a novel that includes murder and/or other potentially violent content could ever be considered Christian. Yet these same people think nothing about reading their true crime or other secular novels or watching violent TV or movies. I personally love that authors such as Patricia Bradley offer me an alternative that not only includes a riveting mystery and a bit of white knuckle suspense but I can count on their novels to be squeaky clean in romantic relationships and even the violent content does not include gratuitous blood and gore.

Crosshairs is Bradley’s latest and final novel in her Natchez Trace Park Rangers series. Action starts on the beginning pages and ramps up as the pages turn. Featuring Ranger Ainsley Beaumont who has return to Natchez to investigate the murder of a teen and former FBI sniper Lincoln Steele whose current position as an interpretive ranger is a bit puzzling to Ainsley. The pair must work together to solve the crime but they have a past together that could make that difficult.

The narrative includes multiple characters and story lines that offer more than one motive for the murder as well as the fact that Ainsley also is an obvious target. Is everything connected or just a coincidence? As family secrets are revealed and the suspect list grows, there are enough twists and surprises to confuse even the best detective.

I thoroughly enjoyed Crosshairs and the previous books in this series. I love the author’s attention to detail and the way she manages to weave the Gospel message subtly into the story. I highly recommend this book.

I have loved the Natchez Trace Park Rangers series by Patricia Bradley. Each one gets more intense! Investigative Services Branch Ranger Ainsley Beaumont is a brave woman who keeps getting shot at when she returns to her hometown of Natchez! I admired Ainsley for her efforts to protect her grandmother and great aunt. Linc Steele was an amazing male protagonist as he tries to protect the woman he lost 15 years ago! Who can be trusted? There are lots of shooters, murderers and drug dealers with some surprising twists and turns! I recommend Crosshairs to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense! I received an advance e-book through Net Galley. This is my honest opinion.

Someone is planning to kill Miss Cora for her family diaries. Her Nashville singing career having ended, Ainsley Beaumont is now a member of the elite Investigative Services. She has been sent to Natchez on National Park Service business. A teenage girl has been murdered. Assigned to help her is Lincoln (Linc) Steele. Their history is complicated, to say the least. Someone wants Ainsley dead. Linc, a former FBI sniper, can no longer use a gun. Can he protect Ainsley? All of this happens in the beginning of the story. Much follows.

The narrative is a non-stop action story. At every turn, there is danger, violence and suspense combined with faith and romantic themes. The large cast of characters have back stories of their own. The suspect pool is large and varied. Filled with surprises, some shocking, this book is a page turner that is well worth reading. Highly recommended.

No worries here if you have not read the first two editions of the Natchez Trace Park Rangers from Patricia Bradley. I previously read #1 and found Crosshairs to be a solid stand-alone full of shadowed antagonists, unseen threats, consuming suspense laced with inspiration and strong, positive yet flawed, well-rounded main characters. The women are a grand mix of brave and compassionate. Family situations are realistic with a touch of mystery. I anticipate the fourth installment in 2022 and hope to read the second soon.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

I’ve had this series on my TBR for a couple months now, but when offered a chance to read this latest installment, I couldn’t resist jumping at the chance! While I rarely read out of order, and I highly recommend reading this one in order, time got away from me, so I ended up reading this one first.

That said, I sure I missed some things as like I mentioned this is part of a series, and as such I missed out on backstory, and plot details. Still, I loved this one, and am definitely planning to read the whole series in order ASAP now!

I also thought this series was super cool as it is apparently set in a park that (sadly!) I’d never head of until now, but happens to be only a few hours from here I grew up! I loved his history and culture of the area that is a woven into the story, and enjoyed seeing a story that takes place in a slightly lesser known place. I know many take place in the Rocky Mountains and such, so this one with it’s lesser known setting was a fun change, and I loved how detailed and well researched this story is!

This suspense set in Mississippi really kept me guessing. There were twists and turns and danger. There was a great build up of suspense with a sweet family story as well as a second chance at love for Ainsley and Lincoln. I loved Rose and Cora and all the aspects of small town life. I would have never thought there could be so much intrigue in overlapping stories.

It was a tangled nest and Lincoln and Ainsley needed a lot of support to get through it. With Grandma Rose worrying about Ainsley and unresolved issues with her dad, she has a lot to deal with when she is called to come home to Natchez to solve a murder on Forest Service Land.

I was very pleased with the pacing of this story and the way things unfolded.

I received an early copy from the Publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Crosshairs by Patricia Bradley is the third book in the Natchez Trace Park Rangers series, and I think it’s my favorite of the series. I loved Ainsley and Lincoln banter. I normally don’t like second chance romances but for some reason throw in suspense and mystery it works.

Lincoln as a former FBI sniper it’s dealing with PTSD and survivor guilt at least in my opinion. Which makes him a believable hero. Because no one is prefect everyone has flaws. Ainsley must learn to trust again all while trying to find a killer or killers before she becomes the next victim.

Lincoln might be former FBI turned Park Ranger, but he doesn’t step on Ainsley’s toes as an investigative service ranger as it’s her case. He knows she can handle it probably better than he can. He just wants to be there.

Crosshairs had the perfect balance of romance and suspense and mystery that kept me turning the pages. I look forward to the final book in the series coming out next year. And even though each book in the series is a standalone book I recommend reading them in order.

Like the other books of Patricia Bradley’s “Natchez Trace Park Rangers” series, Ainsley and Lincoln face a crime with twists and turns that would leave even the brightest minds baffled. On top of that, they have a history together—of misunderstandings and love left behind. Can they look past their differences to find the killer? Only one way to find out: read Crosshairs by Patricia Bradley. Even though it is the third book of a series, you don’t need to read the other two novels in order to understand the context.

I loved returning to Natchez Trace, especially for a story that pulled in mysteries from the present and the past. Along with the murdered teenager, Ainsley’s aunt fell in her home under suspicious circumstances. Open doors reveal more questions, more furrowed brows. All the while, it seems that Ainsley is the antagonist’s new target, and Lincoln’s protective instinct kicks in…even though he feels highly underprepared, considering he can no longer shoot a firearm. Ainsley and Lincoln were both believable characters, with personalities beyond the surface level. The minor characters, too, were well thought-out. They supported the story well, building it up, instead of taking away from the tale.

My biggest complaint about Crosshairs by Patricia Bradley was that it was…a bit confusing at times. I forgot who certain characters were, especially when Bradley was talking about the past situations revolving around an ancestor’s missing journals. I sometimes could not decipher who the involved characters were. It wasn’t the end of the world for the question marks to be over my head, but still. I would’ve appreciated a reminder on occasion, if even just last names. Same thing with other characters involved in the story. Give me their titles or their organizational affiliations, please, because “John Smith” really doesn’t help me when I haven’t seen his name in 20 pages.

Patricia Bradley is a very talented suspense author; Crosshairs proves that tenfold. She included short chapters from the antagonist’s view, which I appreciated delving into his mind. But the novel did feature some other qualities I did not like, including a mental health element that I felt was forced and added as an afterthought. Also, just once would I like to see a novel feature a situation where the male main character is in danger, and the woman is the one to rescue him. After reading as many romantic suspense novels as I have, I’m tired of the “damsel in distress” nonsense. It is overused, and quite frankly, predictable.

Overall, Crosshairs by Patricia Bradley is a thrilling read from beginning again, though like all novels, it does have its flaws. If you’re looking for a story with a satisfying—but not overpowering—romance that will keep you guessing all the way to the end, Crosshairs is for you!

This was another exciting and thrilling romantic suspense delivered by Patricia Bradley. And with a murder investigation, historical mystery about missing old diaries and danger around every corner, the end of the book came way too fast.

Ainsley and Lincoln was the perfect main characters for this story. Their history added depth to a new start and I liked how Lincoln's struggle as an FBI sniper was realistically portrayed. The pace between solving the murder, staying alive and solving the mysteries of the diaries was executed well and kept me intrigued.

There was a lot of revelations which was a surprise, other big reveals which I guessed and one closure which came a bit faster than what I expected, but I still enjoyed the thrill.

The focus on reconciliation of broken revelations was a well received theme and I enjoyed seeing the character development.

Fans of Romantic Suspense will enjoy this story.

My thoughts: Miss Bradley has rapidly become one of my favorite romantic suspense authors and this book is good reason why. Lovable characters that I could relate to, non-stop suspense, is it wasn't cut and dried and kept me guessing. Did I figure it out? Partially. There were some surprises that I never saw coming. I love the story you cannot wait for the next one in the series. If you like romantic suspense you will love crosshairs. This would make an excellent gift for somebody on your Christmas list to. I was given a copy free and all opinions are my own.

Investigative Services Branch (ISB) ranger Ainsley Beaumont arrives in her hometown of Natchez, Mississippi, to investigate the murder of a three-month pregnant teenager. While she wishes the visit was under better circumstances, she never imagined that she would become the killer's next target--nor that she'd have to work alongside an old flame.
Thanks to Revell and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I found the book very interesting and compelling.
I will recommend this book!

I have enjoyed this series and especially liked this addition to it! I enjoyed the suspense and watching the pieces come together. All the different mysteries seemed like puzzle pieces that didn't quite fit, so I enjoyed the twists and turns,

My favorite thing about this book is that there were several potential villains. It wasn't always clear who was the real target of the violence and why they were being targeted. Overlapping threats and villains with a few twists along the way made for an intriguing read.

I enjoyed Ainsley and Linc. They used to date but quickly overcame that awkwardness and fell into a routine as they investigated. I would have liked to learn more about Cora and Ainsley's grandmother, Rose. They seemed like great old ladies and could have added more color, I feel.

I have enjoyed this Natchez Trace Park Ranger Series and hope there'll be more to come. I'd recommend it. Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
