Readers who want a suspenseful book (and series) to read should make sure that they read this awesome conclusion to the series. If you have not read the other books in the series, I highly suggest that you do! I have really enjoyed this series. I love romantic suspense and Ms. Bradley does an amazing job at delivering this with her writings. This book focuses on Ainsley and Lincoln. They both used to date each other, but then went their separate ways. They are brought back together with the latest case that they both are working on. Lincoln is set on protecting Ainsley with her latest troubles. Besides what is occurring with their work, they also have to deal with their past and present relationship. I highly recommend this book and know you will not be disappointed!

This might be my favorite book in this series. There are a couple of mysteries going on in this book. At first I was like, this is too much to keep track of, by Patricia did a great job balancing everything going on and keeping things straight.

There are a lot of characters to keep track of as well but stick with it, you will get them in keep them in order in your mind.

This is non-stop action and I had trouble walking away from this book. If you like romantic suspense, but heavy on the suspense, you will enjoy this book.

Investigative Services Branch Ranger Ainsley Beaumont is returning to to her hometown of Natchez, Mississippi to investigate a murder. Little did she know that her old flame, Lincoln Steele, a former FBI sniper now investigator, would be assisting her in her hunt for the killer.

Once again, Patricia Bradley pens a suspense thriller that is filled with twists, turns, and unexpected events as Ainsley and Lincoln work to solve this murder. I loved the fact that two older women became mentors to Ainsley as she worked through her past as a singer and moved forward to new horizons. The interactions between Ainsley and Lincoln, as well as their back story, added a nice touch to this novel filled with intrigue but including a touch of romance.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series; and if this is the last, then I hate to say goodbye to these amazing rangers.

Couldn't put this one down. I think this has been the best in the series. Bradley's description of the Great Grandmother's home and intricate details of the events made this book captivating. And I still had no idea who did it until the end.

Crosshairs is a novel full of twists and turns paired with a second chance romance.

From the beginning, I was sucked in. Not only because of the action and suspense but also because of the characters.

I enjoyed watching Lincoln and Ainsley begin to work through the issues that ended their relationship years ago, as well as how they worked together on the case. And as the threads began to come together, I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.

Their spiritual arcs were well developed, and I loved seeing the discussions about God’s will and faith. I also liked that it touched on Lincoln’s troubles with making them sound trite.

I haven’t read the second book in the series, but that didn’t keep me from enjoying Crosshairs. Though now I have to go back and read Obsession. I have read the first book of the series, Standoff, and I enjoyed it much more, but Crosshairs is still a great read. I highly recommend it.

Overall, if you love second chance romances and gripping suspense, then Crosshairs is the book for you.

I am reviewing a copy of Crosshairs through Revell and Netgalley:

Ainsley Beaumont is an Investigative Services Branch (ISB) ranger. She arrives in her hometown to a murdered teenager who was three months pregnant. She wishes the visit was under better circumstances, but she does not expect to become the killers next target nor did she expect to be working alongside an old flame.

Lincoln Steele was a former FBI sniper who couldn’t bring himself to fire a gun after he almost killed a child which had deadly and unforeseen consequences for his best friend. Crushed beneath a load of guilt, Linc is working at Melrose Estate as an interpretive ranger. But as danger closes in on Ainsley during her murder investigation, Linc will have to find the courage to protect her. The only question is, will it be too little, too late?

I give Crosshairs five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

This action-packed romantic suspense novel kept me engaged and wondering what could possibly happen next for Ainsley and Lincoln (Linc). This is also a second chance romance due to their romantic past, but will it be enough?

I love when authors create a strong female lead that isn't simpering in the corner waiting on someone else to rescue her. Ainsley is just such a character especially since she works for the Park Rangers and totes a gun. I am pretty sure she can handle just about anything that comes her way. If not, then she does have a gun that might come in handy should the situation arise.

Normally when I start reading a series, I prefer to start with the first book. I was pleased to note that the first two books in this series are about different characters and this book can be read on its own. You might have an introduction to Ainsley from a previous book, but I don't think that will detract from reading this series out of order or even this book as a standalone novel.

There are so many storylines that intersect in this novel. There are the diaries and the secrets that they hold and why some people do not want them to come out, someone is after Ainsley but we don't know why (at first), Linc has his own demons to battle regarding the death of a friend. We even see Ainsley and Linc work on their relationship and get through past events that caused the friction between them.

There are many lovable characters including Gran and Cora, but there are also characters that you may not like such as Sarah and J.P. Sarah is a wannabe reporter trying to make her mark, and like many journalists, doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut to not impede an investigation. J.P. is Ainsley's father and on the road to becoming governor and tends to think anything negative will impact his gubernatorial race. Maybe it would, but sometimes the truth shouldn't be hidden. While I didn't love these characters, they did add depth to the story.

This book kept me up way too late but it was worth the loss of sleep! There were some twists I didn't expect that made the book hard to put down until I knew the truth. I will be looking to check out the first two books and can't wait to see what is in store for the final book due out in 2022.

We give this book 5 paws up.

Story Notes

Return to the Trace once again for another story that will keep you guessing and, maybe, holding your breath as you wait to see what will happen.

I love stories that start with a bang and keep things rolling fast until the end. This latest in the Natchez Trace series is just such a book and I was totally here for it. I loved the many threads of the case that twisted and tangled together to create a web of suspense that required carefully unwinding to solve. Ainsely and Lincoln were excellent MCs with plenty of spark between them. Though they had once been close, their tense breakup caused a deep valley of mistrust between them. But danger and death bring them together again in a race against time that could end with one or both of them dead as well. Themes of trust, forgiveness, love and sacrifice are faced in this complex story and if Ainsley and Linc are to have a chance together they will have to face down their pasts and let hurts go. The numerous side characters were as well written as the MCs. Every person was given a distinct voice and it was easy to tell who was speaking when. I liked that we knew the "bad guy" the whole time but the revelation of that to the MCs was slow. Then seeing them work together to solve all the pieces of the case with so many challenges and suspects was a crazy ride. I loved the intense tension that flowed through every page of the story and how the resolution provided a good ending to both the case and the story. I definitely recommend this story and the series as it's one I've really been enjoying. Just enough suspense to keep things interesting without getting too anxious. Add this one to your TBR for sure!!

Patricia Bradley’s Natchez Trace Park Rangers series gets a high octane installment with Crosshairs.

When a girl is found dead at a park along the Trace, Investigative Services Branch ranger Ainsley Beaumont is called back home to Natchez. It is good to be home with her grandmother and great-aunt Cora, but things get personal when Aunt Cora is injured and Ainsley finds herself in the crosshairs of someone bent on hiding the truth. Finding the culprit involves unraveling the motive, a task made both easier and more difficult by the presence of Ainsley’s first love.

After leaving the FBI and becoming an interpretive ranger, Lincoln Steele is enjoying his less stressful life working at Melrose Estate. A life that no longer requires carrying a gun or the chance that his actions hold another person’s life in the balance. When Ainsley returns to Natchez, the two are thrust into partnership at work and in their personal lives. Linc never stopped loving Ainsley, but his greatest anxiety also makes him unworthy to ask for a second chance. The only way to be worthy of her is to conquer it and he can’t do that alone.

In the third installment of her Natchez Trace Park Rangers series, Patricia Bradley delivers a web of intrigue as thick as the Spanish moss in the trees of her historical setting. The constant action and mystery will hook you, while the message of restoration and redemption fulfills the plots we have come to love from this amazing author. Read Crosshairs as a standalone if you want, but I highly recommend starting at the beginning and working your way through Standoff and Obsession first.

Crosshairs, the third installment in Patricia Bradley’s Natchez Trace Park Rangers series, is an action-packed romantic suspense novel that readers are sure to enjoy. Even though it is the third book in the series, Crosshairs can easily be read as a standalone novel, and it is my favorite of the series so far.

The romance in the novel is well written and believable as the main characters shared a romantic past. The supporting characters were enjoyable to read, and the mystery kept me guessing until the very end. Well done!

Crosshairs is highly recommended for fans of romantic suspense. I look forward to what Patricia Bradley has in store for readers next!

Patricia Bradley’s newest installment in the Natchez Trace series is the best yet with more action, tension, and drama that keeps the pages flying!

When Ainsley Beaumont’s dream of a career in singing fell through, she joined the Investigative Services Branch and became a ranger. She is sent to her hometown of Natchez Mississippi to figure out who murdered a pregnant teenager. While she is investigating, Ainsley quickly becomes the killer’s next target and has to work with an old flame to solve the case. Lin Steele is a former FBI sniper that put his gun away after almost killing an innocent child. Linc can’t bring himself to pick up a gun again after what happened, but as the danger to Ainsley increases along with his feelings, he wonders if he will be able to help her without the use of his weapon.

Patricia Bradley has crafted an incredible series with characters that I instantly fell in love with and wanted to make sure they made it to a safe and happy ending. The plot was more intricate and detailed than past installments giving me a deeper desire to see these characters find happiness. As with most romantic suspense novels, our main characters have a history together and when they end up working together the old feelings get stirred up making things more complicated between them. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn’t; here I enjoyed the dynamic between Ainsley and Linc and how that shaped the rest of the story. The secondary characters brought out a lighter side to the story, especially Cora and the rest of Ainsley’s family, except her father, the tension between them was tighter and gave more depth to the story. This was the best of the series for me and even though it is the third in the series, each book can be read on its own without missing anything from the others to make the story whole. I recommend this book to readers that enjoy romantic suspense and want a good story that will keep them turning the pages lost in the action.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

More of the exciting Natchez Trace Park Ranger Series from talented author Patricia Bradley.
This is the story of Ainsley and her investigation into a teen's death.
Ainsley is with the ISB, a branch of the Park Ranger service, and it is her job to find out who killed Hannah Dyson. There are so many puzzle pieces, and they don't seem to fit together.
It also seems as though there is someone out to kill Ainsley, but who, and why?
And then there's Lincoln Steele. Her former boyfriend. Used to be law enforcement, but has moved on to other things. And yet, here he is, helping her on every turn, protecting her, determined to help her get to the bottom of things.
Her aunt has some old diaries that have been missing, and she ended up in the hospital...could this all be tied together?
This book is full of action, mystery, and suspense. Lots going on, and a few surprises. I didn't want to lay this book down until I finished it, I was kept guessing until the end.
If you enjoy mystery and suspense, you definitely will want to read this one!

For some reason when I hear the genre romantic suspense, I think a light read. While this book was an easy and quick read, it was not light. I wish there was a better comparison than an onion, but the layers in this story were very well done and I enjoyed the peeling process.

From the first page I was plunged into a wild scene of anticipation, weather, characters and dread. (Reminder to self – never start this author’s books at 11 pm!)

Ainsley, the main character, at first appears a little miffed (not angry but something has rubbed her the wrong way in life). Quickly the reader can start to understand the history behind the attitude and realize that Ainsley is one tough cookie. Working an investigation in a small town where many know you and all your past, Ainsley is an impeccable professional. Her counterpart and past romantic connection is Linc. A man who has his own issues and has managed to find his place in their hometown – but will he find a place back in Ainsley’s heart?

The author does a great job of helping the reader understand situations without giving them so much background that it pulls them down instead of staying in the story. At no time did I feel as if I was missing out by not reading the other books in this series. However, the other books are going on to my ‘Want To Read’ list as the idea of a series centered around an area and occupation is intriguing.

As a side note, part of me would love to see a book highlighting the two elderly sisters, Rose & Cora. I could see them solving crimes and kicking butts with manners and charm.

The ending was a bit of a neat bow which, while this helps with closure and making this a standalone read inside a series, I for one, would have enjoyed a little more.

Danger, mystery, and love combine in this enthralling novel by Patricia Bradley. A former FBI agent who can no longer hold a gun because of a traumatic experience while on the job teams up with an Investigative Services Branch ranger who feels like she has something to prove to the two men who teamed up against her dreams in the past. The history between Ainsley and Lincoln made you want to see them get over it and end up together. But that was secondary to you wanting to see that Ainsley survives being a target, for the murder of the teenage girl to be solved, for Linc to get over his aversion to holding a gun, for Cora (Ainsley’s great-aunt) to heal from her head injury, for the person who stole diaries from Cora’s house that resulted in her fall to be caught, and for the persistent reporter to go away. There is a lot going on in the book but it works together and doesn’t feel like too much. This is an excellent book for anyone who likes inspirational romantic suspense.

Crosshairs is a fast paced, suspenseful mystery with some surprising twists. It is book three in the Natchez Park Rangers series. Ainsley Beaumont finds herself investigating the murder of a teenager in her home town of Natchez, Mississippi. Her ex-boyfriend is asked to assist in the investigation drawing on his skills as a former FBI agent. As they work together to solve one mystery, more events unfold to make this a story with several twists and turns to keep the reader guessing!

Thank you to Netgalley and Revell Publishing for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for my honest review. I highly recommend this book and series.

This was a very exciting read. The multiple mysteries in the book help make the book interesting and kept me guessing at how it was all going to play out. Ainsley and Linc were likable characters and their backstory added another enjoyable layer to the read as well as Ainsley's complicated relationship with her father. I also liked the historical aspects that came into play in the mysteries they are trying to solve. Really liked this one!

From the opening pages, this book grabbed me, old diaries from post Civil War South and old house with a secret stairway. Very cool!

But this story was much more than just "cool." It turned out to be an engaging and intriguing read with great characters and multiple storylines that kept me interested until the very end.

The author did a great job of weaving suspense, romance, and forgiveness into this book. I also enjoyed learning more about our national park rangers.

I look forward to the next book in the Natchez Trace Park Rangers!

I went through a Romantic Suspense phase ages ago, but after a while, all the stories felt the same: a woman is in trouble needs a man to rescue her (Yawn). But is seems like the romantic suspense genre has evolved after all these years. And a great example of this progression is CROSSHAIRS by Patricia Bradley. In this novel, Ms. Bradley completely flips the romantic suspense genre on its head by giving us Ainsley Beaumont, a woman who can rescue herself!

CROSSHAIRS is fast-paced and action-packed. It grabbed me from the first scene, where a criminal uses a raging storm as cover. The plot twists and turns and leaves the reader wondering who the criminals might be. Figuring out who the baddies are isn't even when the suspects also start dropping left and right! Ms. Bradley peels back the novel in layers, slowly revealing the clues.

The characters are well-developed and complex. While the story unfolds over a short number of days, I genuinely appreciated how Ms. Bradley shows characters growth through Ainsley's perspective and memories. We see how Ainsley's relationships with Linc and her father progress over the course of the novel for the better. Two of my favorite characters are Rose and Cora, Ainsley's grandmother and great-aunt. Both ladies may be more advanced in years, but they are both full of life and vitality. I can only hope to be that lively when I'm older!

While I was more interested in the suspense\mystery aspect of CROSSHAIRS (I am SO NOT in romance frame of mind), the romance between Ainsley and Linc is well constructed. Instead of the usual insta-love, the relationship between Ainsley and Linc is one of rekindled love. Or more, I think there is the possibility of rekindled love between the two. Ms. Bradley does a great job portraying the sizzle between Ainsley and Linc. From small touches to protecting each other from danger, I really felt their connection.

I did find the ending of the novel unsatisfying, however. The major crimes are wrapped up quickly and a bit too neatly for my tastes when Ainsley tracks down the criminals. There are plenty of red herrings peppered throughout the novel, but the quick jump to the conclusion startled me. Ainlsey picked up on a lot more clues than I did! I'm wondering if a conversation between Ainsley and Linc laying out more of the hints would have helped the ending feel more resolved.

While CROSSHAIRS is the third novel in a series, it can be read as a standalone. The previous two stories in the series involve different sets of characters. While it is a new series to me, I can see reading the others in the series.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading CROSSHAIRS. It has action, mystery, and a side of romance. I highly recommend it for suspense\mystery readers as well as romance readers!
