What Sounds Fun to You? is a beautifully written and illustrated children's book that reminds us that there is a little bit of magic everywhere. It's not just a good lesson for children, but also for adults- look for the little joys in everything we do and they become big, important, habits. While religious children's literature has a tendency to be behind in diversity, there is a fair amount of diversity represented in this book. The book encourages fun and play. It's a good read for early childhood classrooms and homes. As we're climbing out of this world crisis, it's a beautiful thing to find fun.

This delightful book will ignite imaginations and encourage kids to put their thinking caps on. Kids are the quintissential models for playtime and having fun but even they need a refreshers course in fun from time to time.
With open eyes, arms and hearts kids will discover that fun is everywhere around them. Annie F. Downs gives copious ideas in her wonderfully illustrated picture book that will inspire kids ages 3-8 to find it! Fun can be: riding a bike with a friend, playing with your baby brother, jumping in puddles on a rainy day, playing in the park on swings, singing loud to God in your place of worship, and going on a walk with Grandma, just to name a few. Day and night fun is ready to go.
The author asks the reader "what sounds fun to you?" Posing that question opens up a meaningful conversation to share after the book has been read. The illustrations are fantastic and I love the diversity of the characters. At the end of the book is a page entitled, " And here's some more fun for you! Can you find these things inside the book?" Kids can then go on a search-and-find hunt which I am sure will be a big hit. I love the book and highly recommend it.
