“The Smurfs Tales #1: The Smurfs and the Bratty Kid“ by Peyo is an omnibus collection of comics set in the world of the Smurfs.

When Papa Smurf’s stork is wounded in a storm, he relies on the kindness of a farmer to heal the bird. When the farmer's bratty nephew shows up, it’s a different kind of storm. In a second story, king’s page Johan and mischievous jester Peewit find themselves defending a castle and relying on Papa Smurf for help. Also included are some cartoon strips about the Smurfs that are pretty fun.

This felt like a good value at 160 pages. There are a variety of stories and they’re all pretty good. The art by Peyo is consistent with other Smurf books.

I had a great time reading this book. It has a strong beginning where Papa Smurf gets help from a kind old man. Once his stork gets better, a mean little kid stumbles upon Smurf village. They have fun causing all kinds of chaos and destruction there. This leads Papa Smurf to try and teach this child an important lesson. As this story comes to a close life for this kid will never be the same.

The Smurfs never fail to bring a smile to your face, and this graphic novel continues the tradition. If you have ever watched The Smurfs, you can almost hear the voices as well read along. This is a fun read that is enjoyable for all ages. The graphics are colorful and eye-catching. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.

A great read for those who love comics and especially the Smurfs. I remember watching them on TV and this brought back some great memories. Lots of themes that could be discussed in school, but a funny read for those who just want to relax.

I think there are some stories inside but I only can read two of them since I got the e-arc from NetGalley. I wish I can read all of them.

I like the first one. The human character is alive. He's totally annoying and dangerous. I felt bad for those smurfs because of his attitudes.

The second story is confusing. It is hard for me to get a big picture. The artwork is different from the first one. I do not enjoy reading it.

My favorite comic strip since youth: The Smurfs. The small blue people-like personnages who sometimes fight within the tribe, but usually smart and fun around human beings.

The book contains 2 stories, with one of Johan and Pirlouit, another fave story by Peyo about a smart prince and his grumbler of a friend.

This was very nostalgic and would be great for anyone who grew up enjoying the Smurfs. That being said, the blurb indicates this is being published as a tie in to the new animated TV series on Nick and in that respect I'm not sure this was the most successful.

I appreciated that the art stuck to the classic style of the original stories and I think the first story translates well to the target audience of a show premiering on Nick as it deals with a young boy who is causing a ruckus about town and learning to be kind, etc. However the story kind of meandered a little which I think might throw off some of the younger readers.

The second story goes into a medieval time period and follows several viewpoints as jester, Peewit, uncovers an evil plan to take over the kingdom. The depiction of the villains in this story were not great as they seemed to be a mash of stereotypes related to Native Americans/Mongols/Chinese. Additionally, the pdf provided to me ended on page 89 so I was unable to see how the story ended.

Overall, I would give this a 2.5/3 star rating. It was quick and mostly enjoyable and I really did love the artwork and the nostalgia it brought.

as a frequent smurfs movies watcher, I was thrilled to read this book. and it was wonderful. But, I will say, I didn't like it as much, as I'd enjoyed the movies. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a free EArc of "The Smurfs Tales #1", in exchange for an honest review.

The trama was cert interesting, and t'he characters are so pretty. All the books made if Peyo are legendary and this isn't the exception

it was alright. felt like the art was a bit messy, but it does do the old ones justice. i actually grew up with the old cartoons. this was nice to read because of it. but if you don’t have an emotional connection to it already, i don’t think you’d like it.

This was a fun little read
Reminiscent of a childhood spend wishing I was a little blue Smurf running around the village and causing trouble.

I received a copy for an honest review. I grew up watching the Smurf’s, was one of my favorite cartoons. It was so nice to see the Smurf’s in writing, they are still so cute. What a fun read, all the kids would love it,

Thanks to NetGalley for giving me this advanced copy of this book, and my legitimate thanks to the author for giving me the opportunity to read his book.
At first I thought it was an unbelievable smurf story, where it was a bit weird to understand the smurfs with their smurf language. The first story, tells of a rebellious boy who strayed into the forest, the smurfs' habitat. Hence, the boy tries to change a little bit

In the next chapter we can see some medieval smurfs, something strange at the beginning, consecuently, I didn't like the second chapter of this graphic novel.

A great, short read filled with beautiful illustrations and amazing stories. As someone, who is not that familiar with The Smurfs stories, I still ended up enjoying this graphic novel a lot! Thanks NetGalley and Bookouture for the digital copy!

Step back to childhood with this new Smurfs book. The Smurfs find themselves on two different adventures that will have you reminiscing about your youth. I found this book to be a fun change up from my normal read and look forward to more adventures to come. What I liked best was that I can introduce my children to one of my favorite cartoons from my younger years.
Many thanks to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC of this book.

I grew up loving The Smurfs. It was such a lovely experience to be able to share this with my children. Included are two stories that remain true to the original. The story provided some good lessons and heart felt moments. I loved the art as it truly brought my favorite, Papa Smurf, back to life.

I loved the Smurfs when I was a kid and reading this was a very nostalgic experience for me. I really appreciate that the illustrations are well done yet classic; they haven’t been updated in a way that changed the style. The stories are easy to follow and understand, but the Smurfs usually learn a lesson through their misadventures, and Papa Smurf always has some words of wisdom to impart. A lot of older cartoons are making a comeback and I hope the Smurfs is one of them.

Reading this comics brings lovely nostalgia. I remember watching Smurfs on tv as a child and loving it.

I’m glad I’m came across this comics ( as I am not really a comic reader! ) . I had fun reading this. The illustrations was pretty good , it made the smurfs come alive. Papa smurf and his words of wisdom is as always reliable. It even made the bratty Awsum , well, came into his senses.

Overall, lovely comics!
