A sweet and engaging rivals-to-lovers story with elements of an enemies-to-lovers trope, this book masterfully blends themes of cyberbullying, self-awareness, and personal growth. When executed well—especially with such lovable main characters like Reese and Benny—it makes for a fantastic read!
The story follows two interns who switch places at Friends’ Flavor, only to find themselves growing closer than expected as their journey takes an unexpected, viral turn.
The novel skillfully intertwines feminist themes with explorations of misogyny, inequality, and workplace double standards. Beyond being a light and enjoyable read, the book presents a thoughtful and compelling narrative with relatable, caring characters. The supporting cast, including Nat and Clara, adds warmth and depth, showing the importance of having smart, encouraging friends who uplift and inspire.
Overall, this YA novel is not just entertaining and heartwarming—it also tackles significant issues with boldness, addressing thought-provoking topics while embracing themes of empowerment and girl power.

I love rivals to lovers!! The romance in this was adorable!!!! Reese drove me a little crazy with the constant feminist rants, I wish there was a little less of that but I also understood that she’s only 16, it had been a while since I read a YA/NA book. This was clever and I loved the cooking show aspect. Overall this wasn’t my favorite but I still really enjoyed it!

This was a sweet, but predictable story. A lighthearted rom com with charming characters and a fun food centric setting. It's perfect for fans of low stakes romance, but I prefer mine with a little more oomph.

Great coming of age story. The budding romance while competing during their cooking internship made it hard to put down. Sweet romance that will keep you laughing.

This one was very light and fluffy which is perfect for the cover. It was just too much for me. I have a hard time when I can’t connect with the character in some way or if I just don’t really like them. And that was the case here. It wasn’t bad, just not my favorite.

"Love from Scratch" by Kaitlyn Hill sets the stage for a tantalizing romantic escapade amidst the culinary world's competitive backdrop. The rivalry-turned-romance between Reese and Benny, two interns vying for a coveted position, promises a recipe for love with its blend of charming banter and viral video fame. However, despite its engaging premise, the novel falls short of expectations, delivering a lackluster narrative that fails to capitalize on its potential for excitement and originality. While the chemistry between the protagonists adds some flavor to the story, the overall execution feels predictable and fails to offer anything truly memorable or noteworthy. As a result, "Love from Scratch" ultimately leaves readers with a lukewarm experience, lacking the depth and emotional resonance needed to make it truly satisfying.

The cover and foodie romance were enough to make me so excited to get my hands on this, but when I learned it’s based on real person fanfiction, I’m going to have to pass for my personal reasons.

fell in love with these characters omg. such a sweet and lovable little rom com. loved the deeper topics that surround women's workplaces and the issues that can arise. def a new comfort read.

LOVE FROM SCRATCH is the perfect read when you want something lighthearted and sweet to escape from reality with! I loved the dynamics between the two main characters and am looking forward to Hill's next book!

Really great book I have had so much reading this and getting to know these lovable characters will definitely continue to read books by this author

Cute light YA romance! Set on the backdrop of a cooking show- enemies to lovers themes abound as Reese and Benny battle it out.

I loved this book, it was a very low stakes, funny, and cozy YA romance. I think we all need the books that we can finish in a couple of hours, just curled up on the couch, with a smile on your face the entire time. This is exactly that!

I'm not sure why it took me so long to read this cute YA romance! I got a bit burnt out on cooking romances and wasn't in the mood anymore. The best thing about Love From Scratch though is that it's deeper than just a YA romance. There's so much depth to it as young Reese begins to deal with sexism in her workplace. Benny is a cinnamon roll sweetheart who stands up for her, and the message is spot on.

Love from Scratch is a fun-filled foodie romcom about two teens thrown together to produce a show.
I really enjoyed the story concept for this book. I love watching food shows so this was a great setting for me. The minor enemies-to-lovers trope is always win in my book as well.
While I absolutely appreciate and love that the book touches on cyberbullying and sexism, I do think it was very heavy-handed, sometimes cheesy, and took me out of the story many times.

This book wasn't really what I expected. I thought it would be a light, cute read that involved a food competition, but the competition didn't really end up being as big of a part of the story. I thought Benny was a cute character, and I did like Reese, though she did annoy me at times (I had to remind myself she was 18, and my 18 year old self would annoy me right now too lol). Overall, it was a sweet read that was a bit heavier than I expected.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

I absolutely love romance books that have a chef, are in a kitchen, pie shop owners, bakers, cooking show competitors. All of them please.
