I can't say it better than this blurb - "The stories in this collection will provide a master class for readers seeking to understand the singular psychic strength that can persist under the direst of conditions. On a simpler level, these tales offer an astounding look at how one can stare down death and survive—with courage and strength and amazing patience." But wait. Tom McCarthy, who edited this volume, is the same Tom McCarthy who wrote two very postmodern novels considered for the Booker prize - Remainder and C. What we have here is a work of love for a very premodern setting and activity. If you sometimes - maybe increasingly- get the feeling we are all treading into the direst of conditions, this is a bracing tonic of a book to help you buck up.

I think this book would make a fabulous gift for an adventure seeker or a history lover. I read this in small doses, one story at a time, often using the internet to learn more. Any book that has me investigating is a great one for me.

Will add this to my Goodreads feed closer to the publication date.

Get ready to set sail on the high seas - and get lost along the way!

As I was reading through this book, I really loved it. These Sea Stories were amazing, and I think I actually got sea-sick from my couch a few times as we were pitching through the storms and the different tragedies that beset the different ships that were discussed in this book.
Sea Stories takes you on different adventures, each tragedy besetting ships and crews, and their fight to survive the high seas.
I loved reading through this book! It was absolutely amazing! I highly recommend reading through this book!

this book contains a nice collection of Sea Stories as the title suggests. My favorite, though a hard read was the extreme detail given to the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC

An interesting collection of stories. The variety and diverse stories will keep the interest of any reader. The only drawback was a few of the stories ended without a finish, leaving the reader wondering what happened. However, overall the book is a good read.

Thank you to #NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
