My rating: 4 of 5 stars, I really liked it.

Book 6 in the series.

This is hands down my favorite book in the series. The others have been okay, but this one really connected with me. I always enjoy Cass and Beast, and more Bee just added to the fun. The strong friendships between the main characters and the way they support each other, just makes me smile.

I have to admit, I also want to know more about Thea, and her grandmother. Hopefully Cass can help her blossom a bit.

All in all, a fun, fast read. I truly hope there are more in the series coming.

While I enjoyed reading these books in the past, I've found myself becoming less than satisfied after reading the last couple.
This is my own personal choice, the book itself is well written, but sometimes a reader just outgrows a series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

I found this an enjoyable read. I love the characters. I like the town, it is another place I wouldn't mind visiting. The mystery kept me guessing. The dog still needs further training however. A 120 - 170lb dog could do significate damage racing through the house to jump up on someone. Other than that a good read.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I haven’t read a book by Lena Gregory that I haven’t enjoyed! In A Spirit Seeks Asylum, clairvoyant Cass Donovan visits an abandoned Lunatic Asylum to seek spirits. Instead, Cass stumbles upon a fresh homicide while disturbed supernatural voices from the past cry out to her. A stellar author and an enthralling mystery? Yes, please. Count me in!

This is the sixth book in the series, but it can stand alone, so if you haven’t ready any of the previous Bay Island Psychic Mystery books, don’t let that deter you. The book has an engrossing plot and some surprising twists. It’s makes for wonderful light reading just before Halloween or under summer stars on your front porch or back patio.

Cass was hired to find out whether an insane asylum was haunted, and if it would be safe to house kids. Haunted? Of course! Safe? Not if you consider the strength of the spirits haunting it...and the murder that happened while she was there.

Supported and protected by her best friend Bee, a hulking sized man (don't judge him because he designs amazing fashion), and Beast, her 100 pound dog, Cass finds herself in the unenviable position of avoiding death while trying to identify the motive and killer.

There are many suspects and motives, but was there only one murder? The asylum grounds have more secrets. And the people in the cozy town she returned to, have burdens on their souls.

It's a good thing Cass is a psychic who can communicate with the dead, and Mystical Musings is the perfect place to give them a voice!

This is an entertaining winter-time mystery in the off-season tourist town of Twin Forks. The cast of characters is varied, the asylum is spooky, and the suspense is well-done. Cass, a psychic and new business owner, is insecure and in some danger; but she is very fortunate to be surrounded by a best friend, a boyfriend, a cop friend, an old friend, and a dog! Plus a psychic mentor! What more could a girl ask for? To not be shot at? Sure, but every situation has its downsides!

It's a fun read, and the food sounds delicious. I refuse to say which elements haunted me longest!

4/5 Stars

A Spirit Seeks Asylum by Lena Gregory is a different cozy mystery wherein the leading character and amateur sleuth is a psychic by the name of Cass Donovan. She is conducting a group reading in her shop one evening after which a couple approached her and introduced themselves. She had noticed them earlier. The man, Elijah Anderson, offered her $20,000 to prove that there were no ghosts at a property he owned, previously known as Twin Forks Psychiatric Center. After a confirming that she and her friend, Bee, could film the process, she agreed and accepted his check. She and Bee were trying to get a v-log started with the goal of making enough money to tide her over the winter when there were few tourists, who were her stock-in-trade. After making arrangements, she and Bee appeared at the property a few days later. Things were not going all that well when, suddenly, she spied a person standing over what turned out to be a body: that of Elijah Anderson, and he was dead. She and Bee had to look into this. Luke, her cope boyfriend reluctantly agreed.

This was a fascinating story with good characters, including Cass' mentor, Simone; her best friend, Stephanie, along with Stephanie's significant other, Tank, who was Luke's partner, and their adopted son, Aiden, who iss autistic; a smattering of townspeople, and of course, the suspects. It stands to reason that a psychic might be involved in murders so this trope has the potential for a long life and many books. Cass is a very likable and responsible woman who has been aware of her psychic powers only a relatively short time. The murder mystery was a good one, involving greed and some lust. Cass was drawn to the site, but felt it was a poor place to build anything, let alone a boarding school as Anderson planned. She forged ahead, cognizant of her own safety but didn't let threats stop her: always an important trait in an amateur. She and her best friend, Bee, a gay dress designer, had a solid friendship and had bantering down to a science. It was an entertaining and intriguing book. I recommend it.

This is a series that has never let me down. Cass and her BFF Bee, along with Stephanie and the rest of the recurring cast are, as always, people I would like to call my friends. This time Cass has some money concerns and Bee is helping her to film a vlog to promote her business. In the off season Bay Island isn't raking in the money for her store, Mystical Musings. The location for their filming is not producing anything spooky so they give the old light house a try. No luck but they did get some great storm footage to use later. Trust Bee to catch the dramatic angle. After that failed attempt at contacting a spirit, Cass is more than happy when she is offered the job of checking out possible sprits at the old insane asylum, officially known then as the Twin Forks Lunatic Asylum. There are plans in the works to turn it into a boarding school and he wants her to prove it's not haunted. Given its dark past housing violent criminals and even darker rumors, Cass would bet her only dollar that the place was most certainly haunted. The money offered is a sweet deal indeed and Cass figures what could go wrong? He only wants to know one way or the other. Too bad she didn't heed the warnings swirling around her. The man turns up dead and there are more reasons for Cass to worry. Like will she be on the killers list? Turns out the list of suspects is long.
Besides a very well constructed mystery, the writing has a wonderful flow and the characters are well drawn. Lena Gregory knows how to spin a tale that keeps you guessing and wanting to read just one more page while building the tension. This series is the best pairing of mystery and the paranormal. If you are new to the series no worries, it works fine as a stand alone but be prepared to binge read the rest of the books. Yes, it's that good.
My thanks to the publisher, Beyond the Page and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I thought the idea of going out to an old asylum to prove it isn't haunted was a fun twist on a ghost hunter and this proved to be a seriously fun read. I really like the characters here and Lena Gregory's writing style always pulls me in. Every time I pick up one of her books I always wonder why I haven't read more from her.

I love the friendship between the characters and Cass's struggles with her psychic abilities. I also love Beast, the giant friendly clumsy dog who has never met a disaster he couldn't land in the middle of. The mystery here is solid and entertaining and kept me guessing.

This is the 6th book in the series and I think you can jump in on this book with no problem though starting from earlier books will help you feel more invested in the characters. This is a fun cozy with a solid mystery and a fantastic animal side kick.

This is the sixth in the series but the first I have read. I was not lost in the story so it works well as a standalone story.

Cass Donovan is our protagonist. She is a resident psychic on Bay Island. She is learning to use and trying to harness her skills. She is offered a large amount of money to find out if an abandoned Twin Forks Lunatic Asylum is haunted. The owner wants it not to be haunted so he can sell it to a developer.

She and her BFF Bee go out to the asylum to shot some video footage for her blog to hopefully increase business. While there, they find a body. In the course of investigating, they realize there were murders at the asylum five years ago.

I enjoyed the story, the characters and the interactions.

I was given an ARC from Netgalley and am not required to leave a positive review.

Winter on Bay Island means fewer tourists and their contributing dollars.
Cass takes on an assignment of investigating an old hospital for the criminally insane to see if it is haunted or suitable for repurposing. Several people are interested in the valuable land on which this abandoned facility sits and each may be willing to do whatever it takes to get control.
Bee, Cass's best friend, and former psychic skeptic, convinces her that a Vlog is the best way to build her reputation. He is also one of my favorite literary characters of all time.
Her other best friend has recently become a mother and her attention and time are elsewhere for this novel. She does continue to have Cass's back, as do the two top cops in this series.
I am enjoying watching the characters grow and relationships develop.

Plenty of "woo~woo" to keep psychic fans interested, but also a good, solid plot and old fashioned research goes into solving a present murder and related crimes. There are hints at some things to come as well. We'll have to wait and see, which means there must be another book in this well loved series! YAY!

Fans of Hallmark's now defunct Good Witch series and Alice Hoffman's infamous book and movie Practical Magic and fans of Paula Brackston will all adore Cass and her community.
Beast doesn't play as large a role in this book but his presence always adds some brightness.

Another 5 star read, satisfying solution and promise of more good things to come!

Thank you NetGalley and Beyond the Page Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book of the series that I am reading. The setting, an abandoned asylum, really sparked my interest, as I also like watching films that take place in such a location. I had a bit of a hard time adjusting to the dynamics between the characters, but after a few chapters I was fully immersed in the story. I really enjoyed how the mystery was built, and the ending was satisfying. There are some surprises as the story unfolds, and I am interested in reading more books by Lena Gregory.

I'd been needing a Bee/Cass/Beast fix for a long time, and this was better than I could have even imagined. This book was a special treat since it was set in the winter when Bee doesn't get as much design business and actually had the time to hang out and sleuth with Cass. Stephanie was being kept busy with her little adopted boy, so there wasn't a whole lot with her, but she was in all the parts she usually was especially the group readings.

This was so well-plotted and hard to figure out that I just eventually sat back and enjoyed the ride. Bee was definitely at his shining best being first and foremost awesomest friend and protector in the universe and there's always his so-scared-of-ghosts-he-passes-out thing which is always hilarious! He's kinda like a human version of Scooby Doo when he does that.

There were a lot of secrets held and layers to the people involved in the mystery. I was glad to see Simone being the voice of reason and pretty much making Cass have a police presence there for what ended up being the showdown. I always hate for these books to end, but they always end in such a way that you do get a happy family feeling and definitely a good book hangover!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by the publisher via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

Crime Conundrums Past And Present….
The sixth in the Bay Island Pyschic Mystery series finds, likeable protagonist, clairvoyant Cass Donovan facing crime conundrums of both the past and the present. Can Cass separate voices past and present with a view to focusing on the dangers of the here and now? With an intriguing storyline and a colourful cast of characters this is an entertaining mystery with a paranormal bent. Enjoyable and entertaining.

Cass and Bee find the body of Cass's client shortly after they begin the investigation of a former asylum the client bought to see if it is haunted. Cast quickly finds out that there are others that wanted to buy the property. Did their desire for the property lead to murder?

I enjoyed reading this book. I've only read the first book in the series, and I plan to go back and read the rest as soon as possible.

I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher and/or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

the psychiatric asylum he purchased was haunted, she and her friend, Bee, decided to use the opportunity to film her visit there for her new video log. Unfortunately besides the restless and unhappy spirits already there, she discovered a more recent body. As Cass learns more both from the dead and the living, her own life is put in danger. The Bay Island Psychic series just keeps getting better. As the cornerstone, the close friendships between Cass, Bee and Stephanie illuminate the story. The mystery is plausible with enough twists and red herrings to keep you engrossed. As in the best series, it's the characters and their relationships that keep you coming back. The paranormal element is believable and successfully intertwined with the plot. Definitely recommended for anyone who likes paranormal mysteries and for these who just like a good mystery with believable relationships.

Great addition to the series. Fun take on an asylum setting. Great cast of characters. Makes me want to read her other series.

I’ve only read two books total in this series with this book being the second, and I have loved every minute of them. That shows that the author is good at making sure the reader can jump right in and still enjoy the book without having read the others. I also just love the friendship between Bree and Cass, and the relationship between Cass and Luke. They are so good to each other, and he doesn’t really doubt Cass. Add to that the interesting mystery and excellent writing, and you have a great book to spend an enjoyable afternoon with. I can’t wait to read more in this series. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

I haven't read any others in the series, but this made sense as a standalone, though you might have a greater appreciation if you read them in order.

Overall, this was an enjoyable cozy mystery with paranormal components. Characters are well drawn, and the friendship is realistic. The mystery was solid and kept me guessing.
