This was a really practical book with many actionable tips - which is exactly what I went in expecting (hoping for!).
The advice is invaluable and there is SO much of it to receive from the author and I appreciated that I didn't have to wait long to find the value in reading this book - the author doesn't use a bread crumb strategy to keep stringing readers along - he goes all out with the advice and it delivers.

I perfectly remember it was a lonely overnight train journey from Jabalpur to Kota when my dad handed me a Sidney Sheldon Novel. "Read this. You won't be bored. You can read good English, right?"

I finished the entire thing in a day. Reading became my hobby and my coping mechanism in a place filled with stressed students and frequent news of suicides. I honestly believed stories can change the world. Everyone viewed reading it as a waste of time and money though. Not me, I loved stories.

Hence after reaching college, I began exploring storytelling. I discovered, yes Stories can change the world! From how my own nation has been viewed as a land of snake charmers, to its food, to now the place where a lot of IT people come from, haha. All of it, stories.

This book not only perfectly explains the need for stories in the real world, but also how to practically implement them. And that's what I love the most about this book. Writing a good story was a bit difficult for me. But with this, the entire structure is crystal clear to me.

The book has step-by-step explained everything: finding, formation, and editing the story to embedding stories in your presentations. It also comes with a downloadable story canvas, flashcards, and real-life examples.

If you're a person who wants to build a personal brand, or a brand who wants to communicate effectively with your audience, and within a team, you should definitely go for this book.

Knowing that telling stories is a great method of conveying information and getting your point across, Story Dash by David Hutchens caught my attention. While I did gain some helpful hints, the book did not live up to my expectations.. The book read like a commercial for his products instead of being the product. I think my experience may have been different if I was reading and working through the exercises with a group.

I love how practical this book is and it's set up for team work. You cannot just enjoy ideation, crafting tales or seeking narrative arcs as you read this book alone- it is best enjoyed with three or four people which after having done design thinking at work made this more enjoyable.
The book has various resources as well to guide one through.
Thanks Netgalley for the eARC.
