Marvelous book about grief! The art is so pretty and the story had me holding back tears! Honestly! A great book for children!

A lovely book about a small girl coping with the loss of her pet. She feels no one is interested in her feelings and she retreats inside herself until someone notices and empathizes with her. Death and loss are always hard for kids to understand and this book would be very helpful for a child who has experienced loss. There was an element of humor and I loved the illustrations that were so beautifully done, with hidden clues in some of the pictures reminding us of Rodney. Tastefully and beautifully told.

A beautiful picture book that illustrates the grief kids go through with the death of a pet. Rodney was a charming choice, and this just really captured all of the big and scary emotions of death into simple but relatable text and pictures. I loved the repetition of Rodney’s name as almost a physical thing. Absolutely stunning.
