Little Crocodile is back and this time they're at the park with all the noises and sights there. A great read-aloud and a great addition to the series.

This is a fun book for toddlers about the experience of going to a playground. It also touches on themes of sharing and making friends, as well as introduces various animals and their sounds to children.

This book is perfect for kids who are learning to read and also learning sounds and what different things do. It also shows what happiness would look like at the park, and sadness when something is taken, like the swings. The drawings were cute, they looked like crayon art.

My daughter liked this book because she was able to read it herself. This book is perfect for younger readers or toddlers.

Thanks to Penquin Random House Canada/Tundra Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This is a cute book all about sounds, and as such there is not a lot of plot but it is a fun book to read to youngsters. So many times concepts are expressed with words, but here the entire book basically deals with sounds. Starting from the doorbell ringing and follows Little Crocodile all the way through his trip to the park and until he falls asleep on the way home. Sound have meanings, and this book makes it easy for a child to figure out what is going on, and how the sound can relate to joy, sadness and other emotions. I enjoyed this book. The illustrations are OK, especially since it is basically a book about sounds. Another in the long list of children's books from Tundra that usually are from foreign authors who have a different perspective on the world than we do in the US. I have reviewed many Tundra books, and this one is another winner. Thanks so much and have fun reading this to your little ones!

I’m honestly not a fan of this book even though I was immediately drawn to the illustrations (they’re adorable and soft!). Each “sentence” is written in the passive voice, which is probably done to make the book unique, but I feel it’s poor writing to exemplify even for children. The story doesn’t have much substance, but there are themes of friendship and sharing if you look closely at the illustrations. It would definitely require some input from parents/adults rather than simply reading the captions.

What Does Little Crocodile Say at the Park? tells the story of the Little Crocodile. He goes to the park with his family, and this is about his reaction to the things that happen while he is there.

First, this book has great onomatopoeia words, such as "whir" "sniff" and "swish". These words are fun for children, and great for early readers to hear the sounds as well as see them. They are fun to read, and fun for little children to hear while an adult is reading to them.

Also, this book has great lessons on what to do if equipment or items are already taken at the part. Because this is something every child will encounter at one point in their lives, it is great to have a book to show what a child should do when the situation comes up. This may help avoid some disappointment and situations they may encounter at the part. Overall, this is definitely a book that I would read to my children, and my class at school.

Thank you to the author, Illustrator, publisher and Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was an absolutely delightful and sweet picture book. One I'd definitely buy or loan from the library to read to my little nieces and nephews. My 9 year old son enjoyed it, though it took him all of 2 minutes to read it lol!

This was an adorable, quick read. My toddler enjoyed pointing out the various other animals, toys, and playground equipment, and crocodile family members. The artwork is very simple but still incredibly cute.

I was given an ARC of this story to read; but thoughts and opinions are all my own. Thank you to @netgalley and Penguin Random House Canada for the chance to read this title.

A cute exploration of sound through all the little things that go into visiting the park when you're small.

This cute simple story is just perfect for young children with a short attention span.. It can be read quickly, and children will enjoy making the many different sounds that are included. The illustrations are simply lovely and children will enjoy them.

Wow, have I become that curmudgeonly? I found myself hugely judgmental of this poor little picture book.

First of all, I believe children start learning grammar constructs before they can string together a sentence. So if there is a book you are going to read and reread to them, it should use proper grammar. What society is doing to language today is incredibly frustrating. And this book is going down that path.
The flower does not go "sniff". The flower doesn't say anything. You may sniff when you have a flower, but it is Little Crocodile that "goes sniff," NOT the flower.
And the merry-go-round does not say "taken!" It IS taken. The other children can say taken. But to say the merry-go-round goes taken is inaccurate. Children are sponges. Please provide them accurate language to build their life-long language skills.

And the merry-go-round is full, so he throws a fit and he's given a seat. This is the message to teach? Or the one that this generation has already learned? At least the chick makes his own case to get a turn.

For the above stated reasons, this book will not be in the rotation for my grandchildren.

This is a cute book for young readers, as it has a repetitiveness to it and limited language. The characters and illustrations are drawn well and will be liked by a young audience. It's a nice, simple book for young children.

What Does Little Crocodile Say At the Park?
By Eva Montanari
Tundra Books
eBook /hardcover Ages 5 & Under
(Part of the Little Crocodile series)

“Please read a book to your babies before they go to bed”- should be a mantra for all parents and put this little book is top of the list.
This classic story flows from the simple sounds the world makes around a child or in this case baby Crocodile. Some of the perfectly captured sentiments and sounds include- “Grandma says “ Sweet Pea”, “The Flower goes “Sniff” and of course “Happiness Goes “Yippee!”.
The utterly charming illustrations make this book a pleasure and fun read for kids and carers alike. Can't fault it.

5 stars

I adored this book. It’s sweet and to the point. There are few words which I think is appropriate. When reading to a class, I can have a conversation while reading and still share the story as the author intended.

The pictures told a well planned out story of a crocodile enjoying a day playing at the park. He becomes frustrated when he wants a turn on the merry go round. He uses an appropriate way to communicate to express he wants a turn. I wish we could have seen the crocodile do more than cry. We see animals personified as children playing; I’m sure we could have seen the word “please”.

This title would make an excellent board book for infants and toddlers. It’s a book they would be able to get into because of the funny sounds, and they would most likely memorize the sounds. When a child memorizes a story, it gives the confidence in their reading and communication. Providing an opportunity for toddlers to experience what few preschoolers and kindergarteners do would be amazing early exposure for their literacy development!

4 stars because I wish I could have seen the crocodile handle conflict resolution the way we want to teach children. Infants and toddlers most likely will not be able to answer “should the crocodile have cried to get what he wanted” yet.

My three year old enjoyed this book and asked me to read it over and over again. The illustrations are eye catching and the story shows the action and excitement at the playground. Most children love the playground so the setting will likely draw them in to the story. I enjoyed the variety of sounds the book covers from kisses from grandparents to random chitter chatter at the playground to the sound of dandelion seeds blowing away from the stem. The book was relatable to my preschooler and he mentioned different parts of it the next day.
