This story was an absolute delight to read from the first page to the last. Cooper has crafted an exquisite tale of a unique friendship that children and adults will adore from the moment they open the cover.

Clara is a little girl who is non-verbal. Because she doesn't speak, she struggles to fit in and find her place within her family and class. Moon, a horse, is blind. Clara and Moon both share a special ability. They have an exceptional sense of hearing. They experience the world in a way that others around them do not. They hear all the little sounds that others miss or ignore.

This story was so touching and I will be suggesting it to teachers whenever possible. So often, children who have differences are left out. This tale teaches children to look past someone's differences and accept them for who they are. It shows children they can still get to know them and be their friend.

This story was beautifully illustrated by Daniel Miyares . The pictures were vibrant. The prose was simple but had a poetic quality to it. And the lyrical prose did not undermine or detract from the power and importance of the message behind them. Readers learn celebrate how a challenge can actually make someone uniquely talented in other ways.

Absolutely, a must read.

This stunning picture book features a girl named Clara who is non-verbal and a blind horse whom she named Moon. We follow both of them as they learn to navigate the world as themselves with a little help from the friends they make along the way.

The art in this was absolutely gorgeous and I couldn’t get enough of it. It felt like such a cozy read, it made me think back to being a child and reading books next to the window as the snow fell. I loved this so much!

A lovely story about a nonverbal girl and a blind horse. The friendship between the two was sweet and thoughtful. and the accompanying illustrations while soft and gentle really paired well with the narrative.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin for providing me with a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Ever since I started my job at a library, I have gained such an appreciation for childern's picture books. The power to a well done one. Their quiet way of conveying a message, the talented artist behind gorgeous illustrations and this story book was no exception.
A well done book with representation that highlights not how the character's disability can be a hindarnce but how it enhances other aspects of ther lives. The way they interact and experience the world is described so lyrically, it was down right beautiful. Both the kids and horses have different disabilites (blind horse, a mute girl) but with support from others and solid friendships, they adapt to thrive in the world around them.

The hand drawn (maybe watercolored) illustrations are calm, subdued, complementing the soft, gentle tone of the story beautifully.

I found myself getting teared up at the end too, lol. I am a sap.

A little long and bit heavy-handed, but overall a sweet story. The artwork is beautifully done, with soft muted tones.

The illustrations in this book are absolutely award-worthy. The story was a bit lack-luster for me. I think it would actually be a much stronger book if it was wordless

Gosh, this was sweet. A perfect quiet book that would be suitable for winding the class down or easing into bedtime.

Both the kids and horses have different abilities, but, with friendship and support, they can adapt to their differences and even use them to their advantage. It’s a very inspiring, necessary message for kids.

The illustrations are calm and subdued, in a hand drawn style, and complement the soft, gentle tone of the story nicely.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This is a beautiful picture book about the bond between animals and the world around them including humans. We see two horses Midnight and Moon as they guide each other and work together. But we also see a girl loving and protecting them too. Lovely illustrations!

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

Clara is a young girl who cannot speak, but hears sounds other children do not. Moon is a blind horse who can hear sounds that other horses cannot. The two move through their worlds in their own way. The book is gourgesly illustrated.

This was a cute story and I loved the cover but I wasn't a big fan of the illustrations inside - they seemed a little amateurish (or maybe just not my favorite style). This isn't one I would buy personally. Sure to be enjoyed by horse-loving little kids.

A lovely book about a nonverbal girl who finds a kinship with a pair of horses, one of whom is a blind. I love the parallels between the two characters and that they each had a clear support system and clear highs and lows with their disability.
