This illustrated chapter book tells the story of Anne's tea party with her best friend, Diana. The two girls had a great time drinking raspberry cordial and pretending to be grown-up. Unfortunately, Marilla had mistakenly mixed up the raspberry cordial with the current wine, and Diana went home sick. Even though Marilla tried to explain, Mrs Barry, Diana's mother, was sure it was all Anne's fault and refused to let Diana have anything more to do with her.
Then one evening Diana flung open the Shirley's kitchen door. Her parents were away and her little sister was deathly ill. Matthew went for the doctor, but it was Anne who worked tirelessly all night to save Minnie May's life. Mrs Barry acknowledged that she was wrong about Anne's character and the two girls were allowed to be boon companions once again.
I love how this series captures the essence of the original books.

This chapter book series is a great introduction to the world of Green Gables for little ones who might be to young still to tackle the original series. This particular story from AOGG is one of my favorites, and the condensed version here captures the mood well. The illustrations are wonderfully detailed and charming - can I get these added to my "adult" copy of the book please?

What a wonderful addition to a beautiful series. These chapters in the young life of Anne Shirley are handled with the timeless joy and whimsy that made the Anne of Green Gables classic. My customers have loved these books, including the beautiful illustrations and the care in making the stories of Green Gables more accessible to younger fans. Avonlea is my happy place and a source of comfort during difficult times. I was especially curious how the thought of drinking something other than cordial would be handled for young readers but it was presented perfectly. I will be recommending these books even more than I already do now. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review this title.

This is the newest chapter book for beginning readers who know or would like to get to know the famous, redheaded, Anne. This book relates one of the most well-known episodes in Anne of Green Gables.

The author and illustrator work together seamlessly in this title. The illustrations are lovely and beautifully show what is happening in the text.

When Anne gets the chance to host her “bosom friend” things do not go as planned. Anne lovers know that this is often the case. What happens? Can the situation be remedied? Give this book to a beginning chapter book reader and let them find out.

This book is enjoyable. It also has some simple lessons for kids. Hopefully these will not feel heavy handed. I did not find them to be so.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. I love spending time with Anne. All opinions are my own.

I really enjoy these well made short chapter books depicting the highlights of the Anne of Green Gables series. If you know the story at all, the title is enough for you to remember what this one is about. Troublemaker Anne makes a mistake and is judged quite harshly, but is responsible and helpful when needed most.

Anne’s Tragical Tea Party: Inspired by Anne of Green Gables by Kallie George

I have always loved the story of Anne of Green Gables and Kallie George gives this story a modern twist with out losing any of its original elements.

Anne has been given permission to invite her best (bosom) friend Diana to tea which of course goes horribly wrong.

I loved this story and can’t wait to read more books by Kallie George

I would like to thank Net Galley and Penguin Random House Canada for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I adore these little chapter books as intros into Anne’s adventures and shenanigans. They surprisingly keep the tone well

This was so cute! I honestly requested it after finishing Anne With An E, and needing more of my favorite girl Anne! The story was super funny and I loved the illustrations :)

Anne’s Tragical Tea Party is the 4th of the series where Anne is thrilled with excitement when granted the opportunity by Marilla to host a “real” tea party., but things do disastrously wrong when Anne accidentally causes Diana her kindred spirit to be ill.
With usual Anne style, the adults are up in arms about the kerfuffle she has caused and she must learn to rectify the situation.
This rekindled story of Anne, who’s tale is as old as time does not disappoint with it’s delightful illustrations by Abigail Halpin and adaptation by Kallie George.
A must for any Anne of Green Gables fan!

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for the digital copy of this book.

ARC COPY...other yes the illustrations feel beautiful and timeless, the author does do a decent adaptation of Anne's coming of age story with the people young and old around her.

First sentence: Anne Shirley danced through the door of Green Gables. Her arms were full of branches covered in colorful leaves. “I found these in the woods where Diana and I have pretend tea parties,” said Anne. “I am going to decorate my room with them. Don’t they look beautiful?” Marilla frowned. “They look messy. Mind you don’t drop leaves everywhere.”

Premise/plot: Anne's Tragical Tea Party is the fourth book that Kallie George has adapted from L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. In this illustrated chapter book, Anne invites Diana over for an 'ordinary' tea party with disastrous results. But all may be ended when Anne saves the life of Diana's younger sister. Life is never dull with Anne and friends!

My thoughts: I love, love, love the Anne books by L.M. Montgomery. And I am loving each and every one of these chapter book adaptations. George does a great job adapting the material. And the illustrations are always so wonderful and charming.

I highly recommend the series.
