This Teen Titans series has brought something new and fun to the world of superheroes. While Hollywood and the publishing industry has been choke-full of superheroes in the last decade, this series bring back the original yearning we mere mortals have for supers. There's a messiness and immaturity to these teen titans trying to figure out their powers while also trying to live their normal teenage lives. There's a reason why we're always more drawn to superhero and villain origin stories. The mixture of Kami Garcia's magnetic storytelling and Gabriel Picolo's beautiful art style that draws the reader in and keeps them captivated. I thoroughly enjoyed this new addition to the Teen Titans graphic novel series. And, as an avid fan of Beast Boy, really enjoyed seeing him become enamored with Raven and watch their grow on the page.

I love the Teen Titans. I love Beast Boy and Raven as a couple, and the art for this series is some of my favorite Teen Titans art in any comic.

It was an okay conclusion to Beast Boy's and Raven's trilogy. I did like the way they introduced the new characters, whom I'm sure are the next focus in the future issues.

What a fun series! I've been looking forward to them meeting and this was great. Cannot wait to see where this story will go.

Not any better or worse than the previous entries in the DC Ink series, but doesn't stand on its own.

This is the third volume in this series, but readers need to know that it opens up more questions and some may feel it ends on a slight cliffhanger. Raven and Beast Boy (with a furry friend) meet in Nashville and over a few days become friends (who secretly pine for each other). One of the side plots is Max, Raven's foster sister, trailing her and then meeting a mysterious boy with acrobatic and combat skills. Garcia's witty lines mixed with emotional conversations continues and readers who already like the main characters will be invested in their legendary bond.

Picolo's images are action-filled with engaging angles, shapes, and layered panels. The combination of Raven's black and violet with Beast Boy's green tints give them both their own presence on the page. There are some scary scenes including demonology, paranormal activity, and unauthorized scientific experimentation. A must-read for fans of this developing series, but new readers could start with this one because some background information is shared.

Thanks to DC Comics and NetGalley for the e-galley. I read the published version for this review.
My ratings and reviews are my own.

CW: kidnapping/threatening with a knife/scenes of torture and the giving of drugs with a needle/gun violence(no blood)

Such a fun series! It is interesting to see how these authors take DC characters and make them their own. Glad there are going to be more.

Welcome Back!

I am still working on catching up on reviews, but I am also still reading a ton! (These are both good things as my Goodreads reading goal for the year is 200 books, and while I only do this goal for myself, I do really want to complete it)! Recently I wanted to pick up a graphic novel, something I could read kind of quickly but also still get a whole story! So I went over to my Netgalley and saw that I had the E-ARC for the graphic novel Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven! I have read a few other graphic novels in this kind of series (they are all loosely related you could start anywhere if you want but starting in order gives you more backstory on characters), all of my previous reads that might be associated with this still have live reviews! So I decided to jump into the start of Raven and Beast Boy’s love story!

SPOILERS AHEAD

Raven and Beast Boy are both at their own personal crossroads and both want more answers about their lives. To get those answers they are willing to go to a city they have never been to alone and meet a stranger who says they can help them, this stranger goes by the name of Slade. When Raven and Beast Boy arrive in Nashville (both separately) Slade texts and says he will be a few days late, so both have some time to kill in the city. Beast Boy happens to notice Raven around the city when they are in the same place eating breakfast, from there he runs into her again, they eventually kind of become unlikely friends while waiting for Slade. But what happens when it’s time to meet Slade? Will everything go smoothly? Will their friendship continue? Or will they be divided?

Prior to reading this, I did complete the Beast Boy graphic novel, so I did now a bit about his story, but I do not think I read the one about Raven yet. So I was a little less familiar with Raven and her story (I have seen some Teen Titans but that is about it). I enjoy both Beast Boy and Raven’s characters separately so it was interesting to see them both together, however, it felt like most of this graphic novel was seeing the characters meet and almost go on a small vacation together. The action of the graphic novel, the reason why the characters were there, did not really happen until the last part of the book. While I still really enjoyed seeing them kind of take a trip and just get to know one another, I do wish we got a little more of the action scenes and the situation with Slade. However, I will be reading the next one to see where this adventure goes! On a final note, I absolutely loved the art and the colors in this graphic novel!

Goodreads Rating: 3 Stars

** Thank you so much to the publisher for an E-ARC on netgalley in exchange for my honest opinions!

I don't hate insta love in stories, but this just felt way too insta lovey for me. They are cute together though and I definitely want to see their relationship grow. I enjoyed the overall story line and want to continue reading this series. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was an okay read. I thought it was a pretty interesting read, but it just did not serve up to all I thought it might. The story felt even more rushed than the last two, and the two relationships that occurred in this book even more so. They felt entirely too instant, especially between Damian and Max. They barely got to know each other, and that's saying something Raven and Gar didn't have much time either. Either way, it does lead the way to how we might officially meet Robin, which I am looking for ward to.

This was such a fun graphic novel and totally what I needed after reading some high fantasy novels last month and this month. For this third novel in this series I really enjoyed a whole lot probally one of my favorites in this series!
The artwork was stunning and the stroyline was so easy to read and hard to put down I read it in one sitting so Idk why it took me so long to read it as I enjoyed it a whole lot. Five out of five stars!

Huge thanks to DC Comics @dccomics and Netgalley @netgalley for this e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Well, it's no secret at this point how much I love Teen Titans so as soon as I heard this one was coming out, I put it on pre-order. I love Raven's and Beast Boy's story and these two mashed up are complete perfection. This graphic novel did not disappoint. We get to see inside these two relationship and see how they come to help each other defeat evil along with coping with the struggles they both face. I can't say enough for how beautiful this art is. The colors are amazing! The story is wholesome and leaves you feeling nothing but completely satisfied. (And there may or may not be a hint for the next character in this saga.) I'm addicted, hooked and pining for the next one!

Easy five stars. I cannot wait to read more from not only these characters but the next ones to come! Read this, read this, read this!

Kami Garcia is back with her intro to the Teen Titans series. First we got Raven, then Beast Boy, and now they come together. This book mainly follows their meeting and also introduces Dewayne Wayne. Most the book follows Raven and Gar finding and falling for each other. They get kidnapped, and need to be rescued. The book ends in the air, so more are definitely on their way. Overall I liked this book. It has a bit too much “instalove” for my taste, and just felt like filler for bigger action that is on the way.

This is the third team up between Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo exploring the world of the Teen Titans. While these are stories that have been examined in comics in the past, this version is strongly character driven, as much about Beast Boy and Raven as people as it is about their powers. While they battle evil and seek out the source of their powers, they also struggle just to be teenagers and figure out their place in the world. Each character has had a book of their own and this volume brings them together, with the promise of more of our favorite Titans to come. While most comics focus on Robin and Starfire as the central duo, I appreciate the focus largely on Raven in this series. Beast Boy becomes a support and foil for the more serious Raven. The story is strong and the art even stronger. If you have any appreciation for standard comics, give this series a look.

A wonderful mash up of the two stories already told in this series, and the story long time fans have been waiting for. Wonderfully fun and exciting, I love where these stories are going as the series goes on.

I dnf’d this, because it was impossible to read through the app. I couldn’t get into the characters also, and it felt really bland. I was really looking forward to this, because I love Teen Titans, but it unfortunately fell flat.
