Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a cool, interesting tie-in to the comics and TV show that I definitely recommend for fans of Teen Titans. The art is amazing, and the story line is interesting. To understand this better, I definitely recommend reading the previous books, but I think that this was a good continuation of this interesting series! My only issue was that I felt that some parts of the book weren't as well placed as they could have been, like how I felt some scenes could have been cut out because they were repetitive and didn't add much. Overall though, I thought that it was a good addition, and I give it 4/5 stars.

I had a great time reading this graphic novel. Slade wants to meet both of these young heroes so they wind up in the same town. This gives them a chance to meet in person and for a while they have a lot of fun together. The story takes a perilous turn once they both wind up captured. To get out of this place they will both have to reveal things about themselves they fear will bring an end to this friendship. Yet as this story comes to a close something unexpected ends up happening instead.

This book is a great addition to this series. I love the addition of new characters from the titans, and the start of the beast boy and raven romance. I loved the raven book, the beast boy book was okay, but this one didn’t quite meat the mark of the other book, for Raven. It was maybe equal, or slightly better than the beast boy graphic novel. Still, I do recommend this book for any titan fans out there!

'Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven' by Kami Garcia with art by Gabriel Picolo is a graphic novel telling a version of how these two characters met.

Raven Roth and Garfield Logan both get called to a strange city to meet a man named Slade Wilson. They both have secrets to hide and when they meet, they don't even know they are in town to meet the same person. What follows is a story of two teens discovering who they are.

This was a pretty great story. Kami Garcia has a good feel for these characters so the story feels right. The art by Gabriel Picolo is just a joy to look at.

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from DC Entertainment and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.

Oh my god! I love this series! Raven and Beast boy! Surprise Damien Wayne! Damien flirting! Starfire!

I have followed Gabriel Picolo's art for so long, and I'm so happy that he's getting to make this series. IT's truly for everyone - whether you're an old-school teen titans fan like me or a complete stranger to comics. This series is so fun, and I looooove where it's heading and praying we get some Nightwing action.

I received an advanced copy of Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven through NetGalley so I could share my review with you!

Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven is the third book in this graphic novel series, so my review contains minor spoilers for the previous two novels!

Over the past few months, both Raven and Beast Boy have learned surprising truths about their own identities and powers. Beast Boy uncovered animal shapeshifting powers, while Raven fought against her demon father, but they’ve both still got more to learn. Their paths lead them each to meet with a mysterious man, promising more information about their abilities. When Raven and Beast Boy collide in Nashville on their parallel quests for knowledge, they feel an instant connection. Together, they will have to fight to understand their own roles in the world as superpowered teens!

You can get your copy of Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven now from DC Comics!

Though I absolutely loved Teen Titans: Raven and Teen Titans: Beast Boy, this book fell a little flat for me. The story had not one, but two relationships that felt a bit too close to insta-love for my personal taste. There were also quite a few lines that felt cliched, which didn’t feel authentically taken from teenage experiences. Despite these issues, I generally enjoyed the story. My favorite element of this graphic novel was easily the art, which was once again fantastic! I am such a huge fan of how Gabriel Picolo interprets the characters, and I especially love his use of color on the page.

My Recommendation-
If you were a fan of the 2000s Teen Titans cartoon, and you want to read a new take on those classic characters, you should check out this series of graphic novels!

Teen Titans is having a resurgence, with the show just completing its third series and a new Kamie Garcia/ Gabriel Piccolo graphic novel being released.  Read on for a review of Beast Boy Loves Raven published by DC Comics!

In the third book of the Garcia/Picolo series, Raven and Beast Boy  are set on finding more about their powers. Finding themselves in Nashville, Gar and Raven come together with Gar worried about revealing his powers and Raven silently battling Trigon who is desperate to be released.  Raven is hesitant initially with Gar, considering the last boy she spent time with ended up spying on her.  The two are kidnapped and they fight to free themselves with some help from friends old and new.

Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven feels like the Teen Titans story is finally getting moving with the characters revealing and helping each other with their superpowers.  I did think the attraction between Raven and Gar was a bit rushed, with Raven’s general distrust of people only taking up a few pages.  I think that it’s important to remember that these characters are different version that the traditional comics but in every single iteration of Raven, she takes a long time to trust anyone.

Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven continues the fabulous art of Gabriel Picolo.  I like his use of purples and greens to illustrate the power of Raven and Gar when they are defending themselves.  The action scenes are the best of the series showing Raven using Trigon to battle and even the quiet scenes of Raven and Gar spending time together are beautiful.

I’m looking forward to more Beast Boy and Raven adventures but hoping future graphic novels flesh out their romance more and the plots take a bit longer to unfurl.

I was given an ARC of this book through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm not real familiar with the history behind these characters, so there were parts of the story that were a little confusing for me. But I really enjoyed both the art and the story. Action, adventure, super hero powers, and romance? Don't mind if I do.

After reading Teen Titans: Beast Boy, I knew this was a perfect match. After reading Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven, I am absolutely certain this is a match made in heaven. Gabriel Picolo was born to draw these characters.

Beast Boy Loves Raven is such a cute read!

I always loved Raven and Garfield (aka Beast Boy) growing up, so it was fun seeing them together in a new storyline. Personally, I felt the story read like a slice-of-life. It felt both new and familiar as Raven and Garfield bonded during their Nashville adventures. The pacing of the plot seemed a bit quick, but I thought it was appropriate for a graphic novel. However, as someone who generally prefers a well-developed romance over a fast one, there were certain aspects of the romance in the book that felt rushed. Since this is a spoiler-free review, I am not pointing out any specific examples here, but I will mention there is more than one couple to look forward to.

Although there were some developments that weren’t quite what I was expecting, I loved the friendship and found family elements that were present. It was nice seeing both Raven and Garfield work through their struggles and trust one another. There were also other Teen Titans’ characters that made appearances, which makes me hopeful for the future of the series.

Overall, Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven is perfect for YA book lovers and DC fans alike. I’m excited to see what’s in store for our young heroes next!

I seriously love this series of YA graphic novels so much! The back mentions Teen Titans Robin is coming out 2023 - but I REALLY hope we get more before then! The plot of each book in the series is unique and continues. I love that we get more characters in our “gang” of kids. This series also does a great job at establishing the setting: Raven was NOLA, Beast Boy was small town vibes, & this one is set in Nashville with relevant nods to the city. Jamie Garcia captures the teenage voice flawlessly and I’m completely invested in the adventures of the group.

I also love this series because both my boys get super hyped for it (age 11 & 13)

I love the Teen Titans and especially enjoyed the first two graphic novels in the series, following Raven and Beast Boy respectively. As the title would imply, there’s a bit of romance between my favorite DC ship! This one is slowly bringing together the Teen Titans team with Robin and background appearances of Starfire. The plot paired very well to have a slow start with developing romance and a fast-paced end with a lot of action. And of course, Gabriel Picolo is my favorite Latino illustrator, so seeing his dynamic drawings and beautiful color schemes is always a plus. I love how everyone is coming to terms with controlling their powers and look forward to the next installment with the Teen Titans!

This is by far my favorite of the Teen Titans graphic novels by the duo of Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo. I think it's in part due to this being the first novel where the Titans actually meet and interact with one another. The previous two installments focused solely on Raven and Beast Boy individually, and while those stories were good, I really love the whole team together. And we're not at the whole team yet, but this is a great start.

After the events of their respective solo stories, Raven and Beast Boy each travel to Nashville to meet up with a mysterious person known as Slade who claims they will be able to help them with their powers. They get to Nashville a little earlier than the set day to meet, so they have some time to kill. Raven and Beast Boy end up running into each other, and while they don't know that the other is also going to meet Slade, they end up helping each other out and touring the sights of Nashville. They each wish to hide their powers from the other since they don't know each other well. Will they be able to contain their powers, and what will happen with the eventual meet with Slade?

I know a lot of the Titans core history and how some of the story will play out, like I know who Slade is already. But the book still has it's own spin on the story and the characters, especially in terms of the characters learning to control their powers. The art is fantastic, but I'm biased because I have followed the artist on social media with his causal Teen Titans art way before he ever got his contract to write this.

I've personally never been a big Beast Boy and Raven shipper (DickFire is my personal DC favorite couple), but I can certainly hop on board after this installment. It is a little instalovey, but that happens a lot in Young Adult novels because it works well with the age of the readership it's aimed at. Also it's meant to be a short graphic novel, and there are still a lot more Titans to introduce in the following installments, so some things have to move quickly to get to everything a fan might want.

Totally looking forward to the next one! It has Robin! He's my second favorite Titan! AHHHHH! -fangirls away-

Thank you to the publisher for providing a free eARC. All opinions are my own.

Another great edition to this series. It’s definitely a YA taking of our favorite Teen Titans with some classic tropes included. However tropes are there because we all enjoy them and especially with one of the best couples in the DC universe, Beast Boy and Raven! We start getting introduced to other favorites (new and old) in the universe as well but no spoilers here! I love that her foster sister is shown following her at the beginning of the story. This is much more realistic than in other stories you read when you get introduced to strong characters and then they just stay home waiting for the main character to show up again. Look forward to see where our teens end up next!

After Raven recovered her memories; trapped her demon father, Trigon, in her amulet; and had her heart broken for the first time, it’s time for her to seek answers on how to keep her father gone for good.
Gar still can't believe he has powers that allow him to change into different animals and is seeking answers for himself.
Both of their paths merge in Nashville where they are set out to meet Slade Wilson. Neither knows the other has powers and want to keep their secrets. But when meeting Slade doesn’t go as plan, their secrets come out.
The storyline is fast moving and the crushes that the characters have on each other is adorable.
Not only is the storyline is good but the artwork is beautiful. I highly recommend this for people who love these young teen titans and want to see a cute side of Gar and Raven.

Let me preface this by saying that I absolutely adore Gabriel Picolo's art style. It's distinct, it's clean, and it's visually stunning. He has a mastery of these characters, and I think that the art style suits the vibe of the Teen Titans extremely well.

That being said, I was not as fond of the content within the story itself. Don't get me wrong--I still loved reading this, and I adore the relationship between Beast Boy and Raven, and they're my two favorite Teen Titans. I merely feel as though this could have sincerely benefited from being a longer work.

Raven feels like a shallow and underdeveloped version of the character we know and love, and she felt reduced to a mere stereotype--even proclaiming, quite literally at one point, that she is "not like other girls".

Beast Boy's character also feels underdeveloped, with his feelings for Raven coming seemingly out of almost nowhere (were you not just totally in love with another girl?), and the general dynamic between Gar and Raven is ultimately lacking.

The writing is stifled, and I honestly think that these books would do well in a longer format, because I think a lot of the writing issues (rushed plot, lack of character development, slight skips in continuity) merely have to do with how short each installment of this series is.

But! I love the Teen Titans, and I did enjoy this book overall. It is simply mildly disappointing as a long time Teen Titans fan, having grown up with so many of these characters, to receive a story that felt rushed and underdeveloped. It does have its strong suits, however. It is funny, charming, and I love seeing these characters brought to life on the page. I just wish there was more!!

Thank you to NetGalley and DC Entertainment for giving me a review copy in exchange for my unbiased review.

Beast Boy Loves Raven is the third installment of the series where worlds finally collide. After the respective characters had their own solo arc, they both end up in Nashville to meet Slade (which they both believe they're doing alone). The two keep bumping into each other, and are inexplicably drawn to the other. The time comes for them to meet Slade, unbeknownst to the other, and, well...that's where s**t hits the fan. It's fun :)

This is a really awesome addition to the Teen Titans! First of all, getting to see not only the origins of Beast Boy and Raven, but to FINALLY have this relationship be cannon is super satisfying. DC knows what they're doing, haha.

Anyway, this installment has a fairly straightforward storyline with some really cute moments showing the beginnings of a sweet relationship between Gar (Beast Boy) and Raven. The art is really fantastic—there are some pretty cool panels, but beyond that the character design is just so spot on.

It's really special to get to see these characters I love in a new way, where they're coming into their powers and don't really know how to control them yet. Not to mention, we get to see how everything connects to Slade (a classic TT baddie), and their realization that he's not as helpful as he has pretended to be.

You can tell that a lot of love and care has gone into this, and the writer and artist love this fandom as much as the readers.

I really have one critique: sometimes the story jumped around a bit in a way that wasn't easy to follow, or was just uncohesive. There were only a few "glaring" moments of this, though, so it didn't have a major impact on my overall enjoyment.

Vaguely spoiler-y:
We also get to see Damien Wayne (AKA Robin, eventually) and Max, who is an original character in this series. And they've got a little flirtationship too. PLUS, we get to see the back of Starfire's head, and Slade is hunting her too. So we've got a pretty good setup for the next installment, where hopefully the whole team will join together.
