I struggled with this one! The first two books in the series were incredible. I had trouble putting them down, in fact, and was so happy to get the final book in the series!

Unfortunately, I think this was my least favorite in the whole series. I struggled to believe the twists, as well as the personality changes with Pip and Ravi.

On the other hand, it's so important to raise awareness for PTSD and Holly did an amazing job with this. The writing was beautiful as always.

4.5 stars rounded down

This was a very uncomfortable book to read. It will be difficult to review this without revealing spoilers, but I'm going to do my best because it's best to read without any expectations. And yet. I honestly didn't like Pip as much throughout the beginning of the book. I realize that it was her PTSD causing her behavior, but I adore Ravi and I know she did as well, and it bugged me that she wasn't willing to let him know what was going on with her. But he pulled through anyway, and while there were SOOOOO many grey areas plowed through in this book, it all fit the narrative of the entire trilogy. The author did an amazing job of tying up most of the loose ends and connected all the various threads from all three books. That was pretty impressive. I would have loved to have seen her storyboard for this trilogy. There was one person on her suspect list that I was surprised got so much of her attention and I'm surprised the real suspect didn't really occur to her. Although when she realized it everything really did fall into place. But I feel like Pip being Pip, she should have at least suspected it earlier. In spite of these shortcomings, I did not predict the ending AT ALL. This was definitely a heavy story, but it was an appropriate ending to the trilogy and definitely worth reading.

I received an advance review copy from NetGalley for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I have adored reading this series this year so I was so excited for the final book in the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Trilogy. If you haven’t read the first two books in the trilogy, this series follows Pip, a teenager with a successful podcast who has managed to solve many cases and crimes in her hometown.

This third book sees Pip in a darker place thanks to the events of the second book, and her headspace is very much reflected in the darker tone of the book. I do wish the mental health issues she was clearly experiencing were more explicitly addressed and that she received some help for them, especially since this book is marketed for a younger audience. Despite that, I really did enjoy this book.

Much like the first two books, once I started this one, I couldn’t put it down. It was full of unexpected twists and kept me on my toes while I was reading it. The major twist that occurs about halfway through was VERY unexpected and left me feeling very uneasy. This is not at all your typical YA thriller, and will definitely surprise you!

Thank you to Delacorte Press for the advanced copy!

What a finale book! When some major things happened and I was only 50% through the book, I was a little confused, but then it all made sense. I thought Jackson did a great job bringing Pip's journey full circle, but still left room for more from her.

I really felt that the character development throughout was interesting, especially to see how Pip's mental status affects her choices & how she has evolved throughout the series. There was also a little bit of redemption for some of the not-so-liked of the past.

I really enjoyed making the Spotify playlist below to compliment the book and I hope you check it out!

Thank you so much @DelacortePress & @NetGalley for giving me this eARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review (Release Date | 28 September 2021)

SYNOPSIS | Pip is suffering from PTSD after she solves another investigation & she is starting to notice patterns that imply she may be in danger too. Pip takes this information to her local police station but they refuse to help so she takes it upon herself to try & solve the mystery of who is stalking her

WHAT I LIKED:
- that the story heavily focuses on Pip's PTSD & the affect that has on her relationships as well as the unhealthy coping mechanisms she has developed
- the mixed media format

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- the entire second half of the book did not feel aligned with Pip's morals & fundamental beliefs (which made it really hard for me to understand her actions & root for her)
- the ending was frustrating
- the story didn't explore the next phase of her life at all e.g. going away to college
- pretty slow paced for 3/4 of the book

It’s not often I have to write up such a disappointing review for a book I was highly anticipating but here we are.

As Good as Dead started off really strong and had me hooked from the start. Pip isn’t the good girl she once was. She’s witnessed a lot and because of it, she’s suffering mentally. But Pip is going away to college and she feels like just ONE more mystery that’s clean cut will put her back on the path she once was on. But soon, the mystery finds Pip and our ex good girl suddenly feels like she’s being watched.

Holly Jackson does know how to write a book that never feels stagnant and literally keeps me guessing (even if I had an idea of who it was) which is why the first two books in this series are total favorites of mine! The first half of this book had me completely hooked and I couldn’t wait to see how it all ended.. that was until the twist happened (that’s all I’ll say about it). I just didn’t love the direction the story went and really didn’t love the ending. I would love to say more about it but I won’t be spoiling it here.

I definitely do feel like I might be in the minority here and do suggest finishing up the series because overall it was QUITE the mystery!

Pip can’t get Stanley Forbes off her mind. Max Hastings was acquitted. She’s heading to college soon, but she’s secretly falling apart. Add to it the anonymous messages she’s receiving and odd chalk drawings outside her house. Is Pip imagining things? Is she slowly unravelling or is she really in danger?

Can she close the book on all the tragedies that have befallen her small town and start fresh at college, or is there a dead end looming?

Holly Jackson deftly pulls together loose strings from the earlier books, including some strings that you might not have even realized were loose. Is it a satisfying conclusion? You be the judge - and jury. Find out if the citizens of Fairview can finally rest peacefully.

The final installment in the Good Girl's Guide to Murder trilogy brings Pippa back for another chapter of sleuthing. This time, Pip's getting ready to head off to college, but she discovers that perhaps - just perhaps - she's being stalked.

When she takes her suspicions to Chief Hawkins, he blows her off, saying there's no concrete proof. But now that Pip suspects that a serial killer might still be on the loose, she takes it upon herself to start digging. Only digging into this one puts her in trouble . . . and she just might be victim number six if she can't figure out who the real killer is.

Jackson gives us another solid read with this last book. She brings back some of the best cast members - Pip's boyfriend Ravi, her friends Cara and Naomi, Becca Bell, and the serial-rapist-set-free Max Hastings - to build this new chapter. The plot, as in the other two books, is skillfully woven, and I won't give any spoilers, but I will say the ending was satisfying. It was interesting to see Pip trying to solve her own stalking situation, instead of trying to solve someone else's murder. It made it more personal for it to be her own experience this time around.

I'm sad to see this series end, but it was a really good read.

I was very much looking forward to AS GOOD AS DEAD, the concluding book in the A GOOD GIRLS GUIDE TO MURDER trilogy by Holly Jackson. I loved the first, really enjoyed the second, and was disappointed by the third.

The story starts off strong. Pip is suffering from PTSD & trauma from the events of the last book and is barely holding on and self-medicating. She struggles with the idea that people's actions and motives are not as black-and-white as she had always thought and finds her thoughts straying toward the gray. She struggles with raging hatred and anger toward Max Hastings, confusion and connection toward Charlie Green, and is searching for the perfect black-and-white case to sort herself out and set all of her emotions and thoughts to right. She finds herself the target of a stalker and possibly a serial killer and throws herself into the case in spite of the police not believing her (yet again). With no one to really rely on other than Ravi, Pip takes matters into her own hands in a devastating and monumental way.

I do understand the reason Pip makes the decision she does halfway through the book, but I just can't get behind it. Holly Jackson leads up to it, but even with all Pip has suffered and struggled with, it still feels out of character for her and for Ravi. It was a huge turnoff for me and I immediately stopped reading around 60% in. I sped read the rest and read the ending to see if my feelings changed, and no, I just couldn't enjoy it.

I do think a lot of people will enjoy this book, but I was too shocked by the twist and taken aback by Pip & Ravi's decisions that followed to feel connected to them or the story. This book is not for me.

“She wasn’t fine, but that was the whole point. There was no running away from this; she’d asked for it. She needed it. This was how she would make herself fine again. And the scarier it got, the more perfect the fit…. This would fix everything so she could go back to normal. To Team Ravi and Pip living normal lives. Save herself to save herself.”

Pippa’s back in #AsGoodAsDead with one more mystery and one more person to save. This time she must save herself from a serial killer out to get her and from the tension that threatens to destroy her after all she’s been through.

An absolutely heart pounding conclusion to a popular trilogy. Fans of #AGGGTM already have this one on their #MustReadMonday #TBR This stunning conclusion to the trilogy invites new readers to enjoy the entire experience. Jackson does what I thought was impossible: conclude the trilogy with an entirely different story that connects all the pieces of the two former books beautifully. I won’t give away a single thing. You deserve to read with your heart in your threat panicking about the outcome the way that I did. It is so worth it. Jackson delivers on her signature style. A highly curious girl tries to right wrongs while taking ridiculous, dangerous chances and avoiding death. A great spin on the traditional mystery where the heroine is “saved” at the last minute. I appreciated Jackson’s feminist focus here: Pippa always reminding herself no one is coming to saver her. She must do the impossibly hard thing, over and over again. A great thrill ride of a story that serves up lots of unexpected surprises and gasps, this one also has some weighty topics that will produce great #BookClub discussion. I highly recommend the entire trilogy for any #TeenLibrary or #HighSchoolLibrary collection. Thanks to #netgalley for the opportunity to review this #Book.

This was an awesome way to end the series overall just a really intense and good read. There were a few things in the ending that brought it from a five star read to a four-star read for me but overall great

All I can do is applaud and give encore applauds to Holly Jackson at this point. She's the reason I'm a picky YA murder mystery fan. This whole series is a five-star series.

"Warning: This book contains violence, mental health struggles, death scenes and depictions of substance abuse.”

It is incredibly rare for me to enjoy the last book in a trilogy. I could even say that I am notorious for hating them, but this book is phenomenal and whilst some readers didn’t enjoy the darker aspects of Pip’s journey, I relished in it.

This time around we follow Pip, who investigates a new case. Struggling with anxiety and PTSD from the two previous cases she was involved in, it is hard to watch as Pip finds out that her newest case is all about her. She has a stalker and the police don’t believe her. So once again, Pip must take matters into her own hands and, with the help of her trusty boyfriend Ravi, she begins to unravel the many mysteries surrounding the case.

I found that the struggles Pip experienced made the story more realistic. Her PTSD, anxiety, sleeping problems and even the usage of pills were all things that I could see happening to someone in her position. I felt for her and whilst it hurt me to see her struggle; it was definitely important to mention. I also found that the author’s writing style was perfect for explaining such deep and important issues.

Honestly, I am quite glad that these topics are mentioned and discussed in ways that are easy to comprehend. It’s something that the first two books aren’t heavily centred on and I think that it helped establish how far Pip has come on her journey and how all the things she has experienced have left their mark on her life.

The relationships and characters are also amazing. Pip’s family, Ravi and even some of the minor characters are easy to fall in love with. Ravi might be my favourite character in the entire series. He’s sarcastic, kind and supportive and he’s perfect for Pip. I adored reading about them and all the things they went through.

Now this book may tear out your heartstrings and destroy your sanity but I think that it is WORTH IT! If you enjoy murder mystery then get on this series and binge it because I am almost certain that you will enjoy these characters just as much as I did.

Pippa Fitz-Amobi is a teenage super sluth, who runs a successful podcast based on her findings as she starts to unravel mystery after mystery. But the more she uncovers the more dangerous things become. Her investigations take a toll on those around her as well as becoming extremely damaging to her own mental and physical wellbeing. As the books progress she begins to spiral into a darker and darker place until she struggles to discern right from wrong herself.

I started the series really liking Pippa’s character, but instead of seeing positive personal growth as she gets older, she seems not to learn from her mistakes and makes increasingly bad (and selfish) decisions that hurt the people around her. Pippa also has some really serious mental health issues that aren’t addressed or dealt with in any healthy way, which in my opinion, sends a potentially damaging message to young readers of these books. I haven’t been a ‘young’ adult in quite some time and even I found this final book in the series incredibly dark and disturbing, but especially for something marketed as Young Adult.

I think the first book is still my favorite, but despite my feelings of uneasiness regarding the third book, I couldn’t put any of them down once I’d started. The twists certainly keep coming no matter how well you think you’ve got things figured out.

This is one of those book series where you thank your lucky stars that you stumbled upon the first book. Each book got better and better, which is such a rare thing. I thought to myself, “How could they top that? Why do they even need another book?” Welp…each book felt necessary.

I also really enjoy that you can read the first book and there aren’t any cliffhangers.

Pip, our main character, is a badass. She has encountered so many horrific things but she continues to kill it (pun intended). Also, Ravi is a dream. It was such a relief that his character remains true to who he has always been. BAE goals!

Holly Jackson has really solidified a spot as one of my favorite authors. I can not wait to read what is in store.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is definitely one of my top ten reads of 2021 so far. So I was super excited to see how this trilogy ended. What I loved most about the previous two books was the characters and the thrilling plot twists. I have to say that As Good As Dead really ventures away from the tone and mood of the first books in the series. It got a lot more darker and a lot more creepy, that said I'd definitely check out the content warnings I've put together above to make sure this book is right for you. I love mysteries and thrillers, they're one of my favourite genres to read and many of them have dark themes and content. Unfortunately this book made me really uncomfortable at times and became quite disturbing as time went on. The writing was descriptive and conveyed Pip's emotions really well. It immersed me in the story right from the first chapter. Pip quickly became one of my favourite characters ever after reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. I related to her so much and admired her. I also loved Ravi! However in As Good As Dead I felt that both Pip and Ravi acted very strangely and completely out of character. It was sort of disheartening to see how much they veered away from the characters I grew to love so much. This book is also packed with plot twists coming at every turn. I have to say that I didn't see them coming and they were very surprising. The ending left me unsatisfied but I can understand why the author chose it.

Ultimately this book was a filled with many plot twists but was very different from the previous books before it.

From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.

As Good As Dead is the third and final installment in the A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series.

In the previous book, Pip learned the obsessive amateur sleuth is who she is. And she learned more about the people closest to her - that they weren't all who they seemed to be. But the tragic events that occurred just a few weeks prior are still haunting Pip. She's struggling with PTSD, lying to her friends and family, trying to seem fine (fake it till you make it, basically). In a way, she's also more determined than ever to get justice for those who've suffered.

Plotwise, AGAD was even more thrilling, engaging, and fast-paced than the previous books. Stalkers, serial killers, and an 18-year-old girl. Holly Jackson's writing style really makes you feel it all, but I can't describe it properly without spoiling anything... Part two and the way the story escalated and ended was completely unpredictable.

Plus, the format remains that unique mix of narrative, Pip's investigative notes, and files/graphs that just make the reading experience even better.

The biggest downside to this specific edition is that for some reason they decided to change all the UK references to American ones. Frankly, it's ridiculous, just completely unnecessary and it bothered me the whole time I was reading.

Overall, a thrilling experience, and I really enjoyed this book. I rated it 3.5 stars.

Rating: 3.75/5

I can’t believe this series is over. It’s been such an atmospheric/suspenseful journey in every single book, and I can safely say that no other trilogy has creeped me out as much as this one (in a good way). Was this my favorite book of the series? No, but I think one of the strongest things about it was Holly Jackson’s writing-which leaves me stunned almost every time. Besides some repetitive moments, Jackson really knows how to craft a world with her writing that evokes so many different emotions out of me at once. And the writing in this last installment of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder saved the novel for me.

My biggest problem with As Good As Dead was how out of character everyone was, especially Pip. Her actions in the latter half of the book make little sense. She becomes hypocritical and puts her loved ones in danger, even though that’s something she was adamant about not doing. What happened to her? I loved how this book explored the effects of trauma, but even so, Pip would never act in the way she did. It felt as if everything in this book was poorly planned out, and major plotlines were used as shock value. I wanted more out of the characters and the plot, but we sadly did not get that by the end of the book.

I still enjoyed this book, but there definitely could have been a better direction for the plot. Even so, it was quite an engaging read. And I hope that one day we will get more-I will never get enough of Ravi and Pip.

Thank you to Random House Children and Netgalley for an eARC of As Good As Dead in exchange for an honest review!!
