One this is for certain I can always count on Harlequin when I am in a book rut. Their books never let me down and this was no exception. I had worried since this is the fourth book in the series that I would be missing out on a lot. That is not true. This is a stand alone book that doesn’t leave you feeling like you missed much from the previous books. Again, something I love.

When Alyssa Hazel wakes up in a trailer bedroom closet she doesn’t remember much. The two voices from the other room she hears discussing just what to do with her lets her know just how much danger she is in. She manages to escape and make her way home. The only problem is home isn’t home anymore. With her memories scattered she made her way to her ex-husband’s house.

She has no memory of their divorce and Police Officer Blake O’Connor is more than a little shocked. He never thought to find his ex-wife on the porch. Make that his very pregnant ex-wife. She walked out on him and their marriage with no explanation and left him devastated. Now, here she is claiming the child is his and having no memory of walking out or why she is in such trouble in the first place.

This book is action-packed from page one. There is no slow build up to the suspense, it is there from page one. There are plenty of twists and turns as Blake works hard to not only solve the mystery of what is happening but also to protect Alyssa and their unborn child at the same time.

The romance is well placed and while their is no sex in this book it was refreshing. This couple is rebuilding what was lost while dealing with a pregnancy and running for their lives. Sex isn’t really something they had time for. Not to mention to Alyssa, they are still married as she doesn’t remember the divorce.

While the romance is present, the suspense and mystery are so much more to the forefront of this book. I enjoyed it so much and am planning on checking out the previous three books in the series and any others that follow.

Blake O'Connor cannot believe the gall when Alyssa Hazel shows up at his door expecting his help. And the fact that she is pregnant! He is certain it is with another man's baby. She is his ex-wife and he is still reeling that that once happy marriage ending in a sudden divorce.

Alyssa is not sure why she is at Blake's home. All she can think of is that he will help her. She is not even sure why she needs help. She is pregnant but not even sure about much - other than the fact that Blake is the father. Can she answer the myriad of questions he undoubtedly has all while trying figure out why her memory of past and recent events is so damaged?

While not usually fond of amnesia stories the twists in this book were done really well. I loved the balance of Alyssa fighting to regain her memory all while Blake struggled to fight feelings of anger. Their connection was palpable but whether or not it could ever go anywhere remained to be seen.

What a thrilling story from the very starte while Alyssa made her escape until the point when things became revealed. I love how the story progressed, whether it was the tension and danger, or the romance that was more than evident. The ending was just as wonderful as the rest of the story.

Many thanks to Harlequin Intrigue and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

4.5 Stars

Barb Han’s Texas Baby Conspiracy is a tale of high stakes, illicit desire and red-hot danger that will leave romantic suspense fans barely able to catch their breath.

Alyssa Hazel wakes up to find herself imprisoned in a decrepit trailer nursing an injury and with only fragments of memory. Alyssa is locked up, pregnant and in acute danger. She has nobody to turn to and no way out of the prison she is being held captive in. But there is one man she trusts. One man she knows will protect her and help her find a way out of this hell-hole she is trapped in: police officer, Blake O’Connor.

There was a time where Blake would walk to the ends of the earth for Alyssa. However, all that had changed when she had walked out of their marriage without a backward glance. Forgetting a woman like Alyssa proves far easier said than done and when he finds out that she’s in danger he vows to move mountains to protect her and her unborn child.

However, with a dangerous conspiracy hitting far too close to home, Blake wonders whether he will ever manage to free Alyssa…and whether there could ever be a second chance for the two of them.

In Barb Han’s Texas Baby Conspiracy, the tension never lets up, the twists and turns come thick and fast, the romance is intense and emotional and the suspense will keep readers engrossed and turning those pages late into the night.

A fabulous romantic suspense novel that hits all the right notes, Barb Han’s Texas Baby Conspiracy is not to be missed.

TEXAS BABY CONSPIRACY (An O’Connor Family Mystery Book #4) by Barb Han is an action-packed Harlequin Intrigue romantic suspense. This is the fourth book in the O’Connor Family Mystery series by this author, but it can easily be read as a standalone.

Alyssa Hazel wakes up in a decrepit trailer bedroom closet. As she moves out of the closet, she hears two voices discussing her dire fate in the other room. Pregnant and with only scattered memories, she knows she is in danger and escapes to find her way home.

Police officer Blake O’Connor is shocked when he finds his very pregnant ex-wife with no memory of their divorce on his doorstep seeking help. He has been devastated for months since she walked out on him with no explanation. She claims the child is his and she has no memory of leaving him or why she is in danger.

Can Blake protect his ex-wife and their unborn child and discover why they are in danger?

I enjoyed this action-packed, fast-paced romantic suspense. The suspense/mystery conspiracy was well paced and plotted with surprise twists. It is an interesting romance plot twist to have a second chance romance when one of the main characters does not remember the separation and it was handled in a believable way. There is no sex in this romance, but a realistic chemistry and a rebuilding of trust and love.

I can recommend this romantic suspense for an exciting, quick read which is heavier on the suspense and mystery than the romance. I am looking forward to also checking out other books in this series by this author.

A kidnapping, a pregnant heroine with amnesia, and a sexy lawman hero - hard to say no to all that. Add in lots of action, tension, and suspense, and Texas Baby Conspiracy is a page-turner. Alyssa and Blake are likable and they have good chemistry, but the story is more suspense than romance. I guess I'd call it romance light - it's no less interesting for it, but the focus is on the mystery and danger. I've come late to this series - this is the fourth in the series but my first read. That said, I had no problems keeping up with everything going on, so I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this 4th book can be read as a standalone - Fair warning: now that I've read this one, I'm adding the first 3 to my TBR, so I'll be reading those as well. All in all, Barb Han has penned a pretty darn good mystery here, and I'll be interested to see what she does next.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 4th book in An O'Connor Family Mystery series. This book pulled me in from the very beginning, and It had so much suspense from the beginning. This book the suspense is not a built up instead it is just through out this whole book. The storyline was really great. The romance was there through out this book, but it is not a steamy romance. The romance is more really good chemistry between the two main characters. The two main characters in this book was married, but Alyssa does not remember getting divorce or why she asked for a divorce. There is a big twist at the end, but I did guess part of it. I still think the ending was really great. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Intrigue) or author (Barb Han) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Alyssa wakes up to find herself kidnapped and pregnant unsure how she got to this point with a bit of memory loss thrown into the mix. When she manages to escape she runs back to her husband Officer Blake only to find out that they had divorced and that that child is his. Since she's on the run he'll do everything he can to protect her and his baby but also find the person who is after her and why.

This was just such a a great read to fall into, one I started I just couldn't put it down. I actually managed to surprise myself with how fast this book was. There was just so much to go off on and keep me hooked. There was never a dull moment with a couple of problems popping up on the way. I kept wondering why she was kidnapped in the first place and there was something surrounding her father that she was trying to remember. I loved how fast paced everything was and overall I really enjoyed myself reading this book. Highly Recommend!

Title: Texas Baby Conspiracy

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5

In the fourth book in Harlequin Intrigue - O’Connor Family series by Barb Han. Alyssa and Blake were supposedly happily married. But when Alyssa’s father died and she took over the family business, things changed seemingly overnight. Alyssa filed for divorce and totally cut herself out of Blake’s life. Eight months later Alyssa appears at Blake’s door, heavily pregnant and without a memory of their divorce. Torn between the love he still has for his ex-wife and the pain she caused him, Blake keeps his distance. Yet, the promise of a child makes him determined to find the men who hurt Alyssa.

As an avid murder mystery fan, I like seeing if a mystery can truly stump me. As the reader, I was deciphering the clues along with Blake and Alyssa. Han did a good job weaving a suspenseful story. Though it was definitely heavier on the intrigue than romance. While I wish there was more spice, it was sweet to see Alyssa and Blake rebuild their relationship.

Thank you to Harlequin Intrigue and NetGalley for providing a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

From time to time, I need a good Suspense/Romance fix. Add a divorced couple with a baby on the way and a very pissed off Hero and you have me hooked.

The heroine here has amnesia and she doesn’t at first remember why she & hero are divorced, but they have a baby to raise & protect and a mystery to solve of who is after the heroine and why she wanted the divorce in the first place.

So while I pretty much guessed very early on what happened to her and why they got divorced, it still kept me interested (even if the romance & heat was la bit lacking but I’ve come to expect this in Harlequin Intrigue romances. Keyword here is “intrigue” – not so much romance.

I was kindly given a free copy by NetGalley & author for an honest review and I want to thank them for it.

Alyssa Hazel awakens, 8months pregnant and locked in a closet with no memory of how she got there. Her only instinct is to escape and get back to her husband. However, upon arriving home, she finds that she divorced her husband 6 months previously. Her ex-husband, Blake, must now wrestle with the imminent threat to his family and the feelings of abandonment.

Barb Han’s Texas Baby Conspiracy is a slow to build suspense with the makings of an intriguing novel. Overall, the book seemed to drag for me and there was a lot of repetition in the writing.

Texas Baby Conspiracy by Barb Han was different than most Intrigues I have read. With a powerful punch to the opening scene, you're thrown into Alyssa's life as she fights for it. When she turns up, literally barefoot and pregnant, at Blake O'Conner's house, he has no time for her until he realizes his ex-wife is in trouble and he's the only one who can help her.

The rest of the book is very nearly told all in his house, which while usual, worked in this case. After all, Alyssa is 8 months pregnant and as far as Blake is concerned, keeping his baby safe trumps his anger at Alyssa for divorcing him - especially after she remembers that she divorced him for a reason. She just couldn't remember the reason. Her temporary hostage situation had left gaps in her memories and those gaps held the answers to the questions she needed answered.

Some of the inner dialogue got very repetitive, but I did enjoy this intrigue once the mystery started to unravel. I was also hooked on the romance wondering if Alyssa could remember the reasons she divorced a guy like Blake and if they'd find their way back to each other.

This is a series and I haven't read the other books but had no problem understanding the family situation with Blake. This can easily be read as a stand-alone, though if you don't want the rest of Blake and Alyssa's story, you will have to keep reading the next book.

All in all, I enjoyed this Intrigue and I will read more of the series.

This is the second book of this tour that I read and I won't lie, it wasn't my favourite. The story had all the ingredients of being a good read, but in practice it got a little too repetitive for me as many of the conversations and internal dialogue kept going around in circles. "Why oh why did I leave" / "I can't trust her" etc.<

That being said, the story starts with a bang and the action kept going from there. Overall for me, I found it to be an ok read but nothing to shout from the rooftops about.
