I enjoyed this book! This is about Sheriff Nicole Cobain and her fight with drug smuggling in her county. People are getting killed , and there is a crooked cop on her force.

Many thanks to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for an audio copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Honestly, I was expecting this to be a good page turning thriller that would help distract from some monotonous work on audio but sadly, this ended up giving me a headache. The mystery didn’t feel particularly creative or intriguing and I kept forgetting the characters and their purpose which is never a good sign. I just didnt feel like i was invested in going on the journey to solve this and none of the characters seems to spark my interest. Had to DNF at 32% in.

Yeah, so I didn’t know this was book two. That being said, I didn’t like it at all. I feel like the plot was lacking, and it was really hard to get into- even if I had read the previous book.

This book has been very popular amongst several reviewers, but I just think procedurals aren't for me to take on in the future. I prefer more domestic thrillers dealing with human psychology over the procedural process of our system.

I did not realize that this was the second in a series. Perhaps if I had read the first one, I would have been more invested.

The storyline was fast pace and good but characters were not engaging enough and I didn't feel invested in the outcome.

Thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced copy.

I was unable to download this audiobook in time as I didn't realize it was on my shelf. It was archived too quickly from the time I requested it.

Nicole, the first female sheriff, has a tough role to play to determine how a few different crime scenes come together. Who are the good guys and who are the bad ones? Appearances can look one way, but what do you believe?

This was the second in a series, but the first I had experienced. Will I go back and read the first? Probably not as this gave away some of what happened in the first, but also, the characters just didn't grab me. For one thing, it seemed like there were more and more characters and I prefer more plot and less characters, I guess.

A good story, but not a great one so 3 stars. Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest opinion.

Lots of action in this well narrated audiobook set just outside of Glacier National Park, Second in a new series, I wish I had read the first book, although the author did a good job of filling in the backstory. Appealing characters, fresh situations, and fast paced. Although description of the rich wilderness area could have assumed a greater role, the book is still a good choice for fans of CJ Box and Christine Carbo.

Nicole Cobain, moved to Montana to try for a slower life and to keep her son safe. She’s now the Sheriff of Toole County, however it Turns out it isn't slower, A call from the Border Patrol and she soon finds out about the corruption, murder, and other things going on in what she thought was going to be a slower life for her and her son. Nicole's is a good person , and has strong beliefs. But she’s wondering who can she trust can now ? Thank You Netgalley for letting me read and review this.

.
Drug mules, border patrol, dead bodies and corruption are the backbone of this book. Sheriff Nicole Cobain is trying to put the puzzle pieces together in a town full to corruption, drugs and greed. Just when she thinks one her patrolman is on her side it seems they turn bad, but are they really?
.
This would be an action packed phenomenal television series. The pages come to life in this one and I could totally see them played out on screen.

There is corruption in the Border Patrol on the Montana-Canada border. A local sheriff is drawn into the investigation. This book focuses on the search for missing agents, as well as the difficulty in determining who is part of a scheme to steal evidence (drugs and money) from illegal immigrants. There's also a focus on the attitudes of locals toward illegal immigrants. The female sheriff character is strong, yet has some vulnerabilities, which I found to be realistic. However, I found it difficult to accept that she encountered no opposition to her being a woman in charge of the investigation. I doubt that's very realistic in rural Montana. But, overall, this was a book that I really wanted to finish! It held my interest and it was not easy to predict the outcomes.

I can tell that they are setting up Nicole to be a reoccurring character in future novels, and I think she will do well. She is well written and likeable, and has supporting characters that you also are interested in.

I didn't quite enjoy this particular plot line, but would read more books in the series to find one that I did.

This is a story about horrid, brutal violence and death. Fear that accompanied the people that were involved with trying desperately to survive in this world the only way they knew possible.
The storyline was fast pace and good but characters were not engaging enough that I didn't feel pulled in quite that much.

Good read 3 stars.

This was an accidental request on NetGalley but turned out to be an interesting mystery that I enjoyed on audiobook. This is the second book in a series and I hadn't read the first book before... I didn't feel lost as a results but perhaps it would have been more "wow" or had more depth if I had read the first. Either way, it was an enjoyable, easy listen.

Nicole Cobain is the Sherriff in a small Montana town sling the Canadian border. When a body is discovered in a lake, she is called in to assist border patrol with an investigation. Upon her digging, Nicole begins to uncover massive corruption within the border patrol and has no idea who she can trust.

This book was okay. The ending didn’t quite do it for me. I think I wanted a more explosive ending, but it slow cooked the ending for so long, it was a bit of a letdown.

This is a second book in a second book in a series. I did not read the first and did not struggle with this one. I think the second book may just contain “spoilers” for the first book.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! The narrators voice was great.

The story was wonderful and I think it would make for a great tv series! CSI: Rural Montana. 😅 Nicole is a fantastic strong female lead!

If you like “whodunit” and mysteries I would recommend this book. You never knew how far these nefarious roots reached and it was truly a great read!

If you enjoy shows like CSI or Criminal Minds this one is for you!

This book was really difficult to get into. Most of the time I could not keep up with what was going on with the characters or the storyline, perhaps it was me. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
