Who knew ice fishing could be so interesting and enjoyable combined with murder. Fun quirky characters and a well developed storyline.

This second volume in the "Lakeside Library Mystery" series is an improvement over the first, in that the library has a much bigger role. Rain has decided to make Lofty Pines her year-round home, and has agreed to keep the library open year-round as well, much to the delight of the citizens. An ice fishing contest right outside Rain's cabin attracts her attention when one of the fishermen is found murdered in his ice hut. She decides to investigate when pal Julia's husband is charged with the murder. A massive blizzard hinders their work, plus Julia feels the stirrings of romance towards two available men. I enjoyed the library's role in this story, but I still object to the excessive dialog and lack of action sequences in this series. The author relies too much on dialog to advance the plot. Still, it is an entertaining series that is worth the time spent reading it. Thanks to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for providing an ARC.

Rain has decided to keep the library open through the winter. She meet Wallace the day before he dies when he comes to check out some cookbooks for the chili cook up that goes with the ice fishing tournament.Rain is angered when he’s found dead, and her best friends husband is the police's only suspect. With all the plot twist and turns, it was great not to actually guess the killer right away. The author made Rain and Julia’s friendship realistic, and fun. Would love to find out more about Marge in the next story. 4/5

As you know by the title this story is establish in a lakeside library. As per you read through pages you'll know this book is quite good to read In your spare time.
I personally found this book good enough to read, it's not too much suspencious where you won't have an idea about the killer if you pay attention too much on the little little notes so may be you will have an idea about the murderer ??
As on the negative side there isn't anything hate able about this book but just a reminder that the motive is not too bold for a murder just my thinking maybe you don't think as I think.
I personally wanna give this book 3.5/5, you can try this book and you don't regret reading this,

I've become a huge fan of the cozy mystery genre due to books like this. You can read this as an escape from the everyday in a weekend. A really good mystery. Maybe not my ultimate favorite but definitely worth a read.

Rain has decided to make the midwest her home. Unfortunately another dead body makes an appearance at the local fishing tournament. Wallace, the deceased, just happened to be one of Rain's most recent library patrons. When her best friend's husband is arrested for murder, Rain finds herself trying to solve another murder.

Interestingly a new love interest, Ryan Wright, enters this series.

While I enjoyed the story, I didn't love the dialogue between Rain and her friends. I felt it was a little distracting.

3 1/2 stars. Quick enjoyable read with fun, likeable characters. Fun, small town feel with the Lakers and the little library

A log cabin library, an ice fishing tournament, and a mighty blizzard set the theme for Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library.
Rain is still getting accustomed to living in the bitter cold, but spending time with books and friends makes it all worthwhile.
When Wallace Benson visits the library seeking cookbooks for the Chili Dump, Rain is happy to help him. Unfortunately, it’s the last time she will see him, alive that is.
When her best friend’s husband is accused of the crime, Rain will stop at nothing to prove his innocence.

I really enjoyed this book, there’s something about a story that involves a blizzard that always appeals to me.
I was hooked from the beginning and didn’t stop until I was finished.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read this ARC.

Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library is an adorable cozy murder mystery filled with a little romance and a little action. It's eclectic cast of characters really keeps you excited and guessing as you work your way through the book.

"Later, in retrospect, Rain wished she'd stopped and watched the beauty of the falling snow with the man and had appeased his divine request. Because that was the last time she's see Wallace Benson alive."

I really loved every aspect of this book. The mystery was intriguing and I literally could not put it down from start to end. The characters were loveable and interesting. I love that Rain is cautious and Julia is a little wild it gives them that perfect mystery solving duo. I also really loved the feel of the mystery. It felt very cozy and relatable and that's what really enticed my reader brain!

If there was one thing I might not have liked it was who Rain ended up with at the end of the book. We are not actually sure who it is so I really have no complaints! The culprit wasn't obvious and the book had fantastic pacing!

Overall this was a great read! I was able to finish it over the course of 7 hours and I would read it all over again! It reminded me of my childhood where I would curl up in my bed and read Nancy Drew for hours! This book has kicked my reading into gear again made me excited to read and explore.

So I'm giving this one a 5/5 Sleuthing Stars because it was a darn good mystery with romance and action aspects that left me wanting more from this author! Can't wait to see what she comes up with next!

Ice Fishing Gets Deadly….
The second outing in the Lakeside Library series of mysteries, Winter has arrived in Wisconsin and the Lofty Pines Library is now a proper home to Rain. The annual Ice Fishing Jamboree brings tragedy, however, when a man is found dead. It’s up to Rain to do some amateur sleuthing - particularly when her good friend becomes suspect number one. A solid follow up in the series and an enjoyable and engaging read.

The second book in this established cozy mystery series was genuinely enjoyable. Holly Danvers keeps her characters and story readable with the perfect amount of quaint and quirk.

Rain Wilmot has settled into her family’s lob cabin and is running their library as well. She’s gotten o know more people and is shocked when a local man is found dead in is icy shanty during the annual fishing festivities. He had recently been in the library to borrow some books and when Rain finds them in the book drop with a note from the dead man, she has to decipher the clues and save her friend Nick, who is the prime suspect. Now the question is whether Rain can write the final chapter in the mystery or whether she’ll be shelved along with Benson.

A solid second entry in this series. While I have read the first one, I do believe this reads fine as a standalone. The setting, mystery and characters are all well developed and keep you turning the pages to find out whodunit and doesn’t disappoint.
