Rain Wilmot has decided to make her family's Lofty Pines library her year round home. She is feels that she has all she needs to survive the cold winter with a glowing wood stove, a cozy log cabin and lots of books. Things change when a local man, Wallace Benson, is found dead during the annual Ice Fishing Jamboree. The victim had just recently been in the library to borrow cookbooks to prepare for the Tournaments Chili Dump. The prime suspect is Rain's friend Nick who was the last one to see Wallace alive. Rain and her friends keep looking for potential suspects and find several individuals who would have had a reason to kill Wallace. While Rain and her friends are searching for the killer, they may be putting themselves at risk. This is a good book that I recommend.

Well, I keep thinking that I have read already a book with that plot, but I can’t remember the title, It’s a good story, that may keep you wondering who’s the bad guy, so, give it a try.

Well I would have never guessed who the murderer actually was!
The way the mystery builds up is just intriguing!
Nancy Drew fans will most definitely love this thrilling novel!

This book was sent to me by Netgalley on Kindle for review. It is a cozy mystery with characters who are intriguing at times. The story does move somewhat slowly, but it is fun to get to the end and discover who did what and why. Try this one. I liked the protagonist and her ingenuity.

I enjoyed this sweet book even though I didn't read the author's first in the series. A cosy easy read.

This is the second book in the A Lakeside Library Mystery Series and I didn't enjoy this one as much as I did the first one.. I still loved the sitting but I still haven't warmed up to the heroine yet. Plus this one felt like it suffered from second book slump.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters are stronger in this book, they are likable and relatable. The mystery moves at a fast pace and is more developed and pulled together than the first. The twists and turns will make you want to keep the pages turning.

II just reviewed Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library by Holly Danvers. I found it to be wordy if you want a good read of an English language show peace I can and do recommend this one other wise I would avoid this particular book

I was given ARCs for the two books in this series by Netgalley in exchange for my honest review, and of course, I started with book 2. That's OK, it was easy to follow along and stands alone well. I would have liked a clearer understanding of the library situation. It sounds like it belongs to Rain and I wondered where the funds were coming from to run it. I'll probably find that out when I start on book 1.

The book was a solid cozy which did a nice job of describing the setting in Wisconsin in the winter. There was a bit of absurdity in the amateur investigation, doors left unlocked, evidence being tampered with, etc., but it didn't really interfere with my enjoyment.

I'm not a fan of romance, particularly love triangles, in mysteries. So far, it wasn't too intrusive and if the series goes on, I would hope the potential triangle doesn't.

The weather is pretty intense, and I enjoyed not only the description of all the snow, but also learning about ice fishing. When the man who hoped to win the ice fishing contest is murdered, Rain and her pushy best friend Julia decide to investigate. I really had to suspend disbelief to accept that two women would plow a potential murderer's driveway, leave their truck outside the house, and walk in when there's no one home, leaving their boots in the hall.. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and this is my honest, unbiased review. I really enjoyed this book which is second in the series. The well-written story pulled me in from the start and kept me hooked until the end. The characters are wonderful and well-rounded with relationships that are believable and done well. The mystery will keep you on your toes. I'm looking forward to the next book. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.

I adored this cozy, comforting mystery perfect to read when the nights get longer and the days get colder. I'm not a huge fan of cozy mysteries, but as someone who is a huge bibliophile, this one was perfect. Full of twists, turns, and lighthearted humor.

Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library is the second in the series. It picks up with the main characters, Rain Wilmot and friends and neighbors, Julia and Nick. The story takes place in a small town called Lofty Pine. Rain runs the library attached to her home that was started by her grandfather. At the fishing tournament Wallace Benson is found dead in his fishing shanty. Nick is arrested for the murder and it is up to Rain and Julia to find out who killed him. The other characters in the story add to the suspense. There are many twists and turns that it keeps the reader interested until the end. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the next in the series.

A sweet book about kind and caring people. A quick read, Plot slow and not much of a surprise who done it. A little far fetched that the characters do more investigating than the police.

Long Overdue at the Lakeside Library is the second installment in the Lakeside Library Mystery series set in Lofty Pines, Wisconsin and featuring Rain Wilmot. Rain has decided to stay in Lofty Pines for the Winter and keep her family's cozy, cabin library open for the locals - now she just needs to adjust to the brutal Wisconsin winters.

Rain's childhood best friend, neighbor and library employee, Julia and her husband Nick have also decided to spend the winter at the lake and she is happy to have someone nearby. As she works to overcome a recent tragedy Rain is looking forward to the town's popular winter event - the ice fishing derby and Chili Dump. Competition runs high between the fishermen as they fight over the most popular fishing spots and when Wallace Benson is found murdered in his shanty all fingers seem to point to Nick. Nick had been the most vocal about Wallace moving in on his turf, was the last person seen entering Wallace's shanty and has a suspicious cut on his hand. Julia's brother Jace, the local police detective, has been removed from the case due to conflict of interest and as Nick is hauled off to jail, Rain and Julia must work quickly to find a killer.

A great locale and an intriguing mystery make for a quick afternoon read. The only thing lacking in the series, as silly as it sounds, is people. This installment revolves around the same handful of characters and while patrons do visit the library daily, you really don't meet anyone or get to know any of the locals. Rain sticks primarily to her cabin and the library with limited community interaction. The introduction of one new character seems to be leading to the development of the dreaded love triangle, which I for one hope the author doesn't pursue.

I love the premise of these books. Love a library murder mystery. However, I didn't like the excessive dialog between Rain etc, a well as the author's use of slang particularly with Rain. 'Nah' ' ya' 'yeah'

A cozy little mystery to wrap yourself around like bundling up in front of a warm fire in the middle of a snowstorm. Grab a cup of hot cocoa for this one.

Rain, a young widow, decided to stay at the family’s summer home in the Northwoods and turn it into a year-long venture in this small town of Lofty Pines where the winters are frigid. On the property is a library that her mother and grandmother before her operated for the benefit for this sleep community. Rain longs to develop the library into a place where the community will gather, with the help of her close friend Julia. There Rain meets Wallace Benson, a stranger who has appeared to participate in the ice-fishing jamboree and chili dump that the town is hosting with the promise of a huge prize of a UTV. Rain is surprised to see that Wallace has set up his ice shanty in the most coveted spot, just in front of her cabin. Suddenly the next day, Wallace is dead and Julia’s husband is accused of the murder by Wallace’s wife. Rain and Julia work together as amateur sleuths in hopes of clearing Nick’s name and solving the murder.

Did I say that besides the cozy little murder, there is also a bit of romance developing as well? Enter Mr. Right (or is it Mr. Wright), the handyman and Jace, the town cop and brother of Julia. Will Rain be able to solve the mystery to help her friends? Will she be able to find love again? In this who-dunit, while there are plenty of red herrings and motives from many people, it is amazing that the mystery is investigated by average people and not the local cops. A bit saccharin for me in this regard and unbelievable, but it did keep me reading to find out who was the murderer in the end.

Rain Wilmot has a charming log cabin home and library and is adjusting to life in the Northwoods.. However, when a likable library patron she just met is murdered, Rain has to investigate to save her best friend's husband from a murder charge.

I didn't read the first book and found the second book easy to follow. The supporting characters were fun, but this book focuses on Rain and her friend Julia. I would have liked to see more of Marge (an older lady who works at the library) and her dog Rex. The mystery is fast-paced and keeps you guessing. The only thing I didn't enjoy was Julia's combative attitude with suspects. However, it wouldn't stop me from reading the next book.
