This is my first Sandy Williams book, but it is t going to be the last, I loved this so much, it was a rollercoaster of a read, this is a slow burn, by that I mean slow it will be over books, which I am more than happy with because it man’s I get more, the banter is worth it alone. It’s an unpredictable read, full of twists and turns, great characters and a unique concept, can’t wait for more

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This is my 1st book by the Author and based on this offering won't be my last !

The Rain Hotel is the only 'null' zone on the planet , a place where magic will not work - just the place for a paranormal wedding ....... a wedding between a vampire and the local Alpha's daughter .
Kennedy escaped the family business years ago , but is now back for a vacation ( ? ) and when her parents unexpectedly leave town they drop all the problems in her lap ..... she is soon drawn into the drama of an insufferable bride to be , a missing groom, and a sexy werewolf determined to stop the wedding .

This is an enjoyable read , full of unpredictable events , twists and turns , with a touch of romance - what more can a reader ask for.
I look forward to reading more books in this realm by the Author

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Unable to read, per content. Too much bad language for my personal preferences. Seemed like a good book, but didnt get very far.

This series is off to a brilliant start. It follows the adventures of Kennedy who is suppose to keep the peace between the supernatural. She's on vacation at the rain hotel. She gets mixed up with all kinds of goings on. There is alot going on here. Werewolves don't have to change when it's a full moon and vamps can watch the sun rise. I thought this book was very intriguing and I finished it in one sitting. I really thought it was a fantastic book.

I enjoyed this one so much! The world and characters are intense and funny. However I felt something missing.

I enjoyed this book. It was a great story that I read after a really lengthy series so it was a nice 'palate cleanser' for me. The concept was interesting and the banter between characters was great. It was easy enough to read and I didn't have to think too hard about anything in the book so it was exactly what I was looking for

This was a quick and easy read. I wish there was more romance, but I know this is a slower burn and everyone has different preferences. I liked the main character and how she interacted with the others, especially the love interest. This is a good paranormal romance for anyone looking to escape the real world for a couple hours - depending on your reading speed!

This book was interesting to say the least. The characters and the world itself was nice. Personally I would have loved some romance or steam, but atlas there was none.

Wow, this was amazing! I love the writing style and the story and the world crafting. I feel like this is going to be one of my top reads for the year. I can't wait to read more books by Sandy Williams! Thank you for this arc and the opportunity to review A Void of Magic!

I thought I would like this but it sadly wasn't my cup of tea but thank you for the experience of it.

This is another is the genre of providing an hotel for paranormals. With the difference that in this hotel there was a magical void – that is the magic made the wolves or vampires into their paranormal selves was missing and thus during their stay they were just ‘normal’ human beings.
This meant that if for instance you had a werewolf that had ‘moon madness’ – a state where they forgot their human side completely, a stay st the hotel restored it. And that vampires could eat ‘human’ food rather than blood.
It was set up by a treaty many hundreds of years past with one family and their descendants eoing the inn-keepers by trade and the wolves and the vampires trading places every week. Other paranormals came to stay also but were not as constrained as these two branches.
Our heroine is trying not to be an inn-keeper – at least not yet. So she was studying at university, but got called back when trouble arose and her parents had gone on holiday. A wolf and a vampire decide to marry and have their wedding at the hotel. This breaks all the treaties as the 2 races were not meant to mingle.
And so the mystery begins and the trouble escalates.
I enjoyed this story as it was nicely written and the characters were well enough drawn. It is of course, the first in a series but book 2 is not out for another year (July 2022).

4.5 stars

I really liked this one. I liked it enough that I was checking to see if I could download the next one, but I can't :|

The thing that got me is the burgeoning romance. It is simmering people. The simmer is low and slow and I NEED MORE. Like, not even a single kiss happens in this book, but the magma under the crust is bubbling and I am HERE for it. I need to know more. I want to know what happens with Kennedy and Blake and/or maybe Christian or Deagan...

I dropped a 1/2 star because the plot was interesting but a bit sluggish. I mean, not a whole lot actually happens when I think about it, but I needed to ban myself from reading it before I got my work done for the day, so it met my 5-star criteria.

I really enjoy PNR, but I find the genre suffers from people pumping it out like a puppymill. This is not one of those cases. If you are into slow burn enemies to lovers, I would recommend. I definitely want to read the next one.

What an interesting and unique story we have here to start a series! You’ve got your typical paranormal bunch, but they are forced to acknowledge humans because they control a magically neutral territory that gives them back their humanity for a time. I can’t wait to see where this goes!

Kennedy has done some typical teenage rebelling in an atypical environment. Since her parents own said magically neutral territory, she’s got a bit of a weight hanging over her. It passes down a bloodline, so there’s no escaping, but she’s definitely tried. The Rain Hotel is her birthright and a curse. It’s partially controlled by the whims of the two big factions – vampires and werewolves. Kennedy tried to skirt the rules, allowing in people not on the ruler’s lists, and got into big trouble for her attempt. Who knew there was so much involved in running a little hotel? She’s since made a life outside the property grounds, but finds herself pulled in while her parents are on holiday. Things do no go smooth.

There’s a visit from her frenemy, who wants to marry a vampire. There’s a health inspection that fails. There’s some possible trespassers she can’t find. Oh, and some very attractive but domineering wolves.

This book takes you on a serious rollercoaster ride and leaves you wanting more. While not really a cliffhanger, I was a little angry we didn’t get to see where Kennedy ends up at the end of her troubles but they don’t ever seem to really end. I guess I’ve got to go along for the ride that is this series and hope Kennedy can become the person the staff believes she can be.

The cover of this book drew me in, the story it self was good, enjoyable but it didn't grip me to the point that I couldn't put it down, I had to keep coming back to it

I LOVED this book and couldn't put it down. To be fair, I've loved all of the books I've read by Sandy Williams so definitely encourage others to pick up her books. This one had the perfect amount of magic and sexual tension wrapped around a great mix of characters and a unique storyline.

If you're looking for a new series to pick up, definitely grab this one!

Actual rating 3.5
This is an a difficult to review book. I don't like cliff hangers or at least some resolution before the conclusion of a book. This book leaves us hanging . Big thumbs down for me. However the word building is enough to keep interest.

I would have liked more backstory to the hotel itself. How it came to being, how long it existed etc. As the hotel is central to the plot I'm sure more will be revealed.

There is a hint of sexual chemistry but nothing that would make this a romance.

There is enough in the story to keep reading. The author has made me wonder how everything is going to unfold. I'm invested now so I'll keep with the series.

I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was such a good book, I was completely raptured by it. The writing was exquisite, the story was amazing, the tension, the mystery, the characters, the budding romance. This book did everything right.
I thought the author did an amazing job with character development. Kennedy Rain was an interesting heroine to follow around the hotel. I absolutely appreciated the fact that she stood her ground so much, strong-willed women who know they are afraid but won't show their fear are my absolute favorite trope, there's something so powerful behind it.
The storyline does a LOT, but it was really really interesting and I'm interested in knowing how the author will play around with all of the things Kennedy has to deal with and juggle at the hotel, her own life, and with her parent's situation.
One thing I struggled with just very mildly was the number of characters that are included in the story which made me struggle very briefly to remember who was who. Other than that, I absolutely loved it.
The adrenaline that this book had pumping through my veins just shows the skill of the author in really developing characters and plot in a way that makes the reader *feel*. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book because the ending of A Void of Magic left me with a void that needs to be filled ASAP.

A VOID OF MAGIC is the first book in the new ‘KennedyRain’ series by UF/PNR author Sandy Williams. This first entry has a very interesting setup . Kennedy is the heir to her family's hotel which oddly is the only place on Earth where those with supernatural abilities can feel human. Werewolves can escape the dangerous call of the moon and Vampires can once again enjoy their long, endless existence that can often lead them to madness or even having the desire to walk into the sunrise for example. A treaty has been in place for hundreds of years protecting the Rain family but now Kennedy's parents are on vacation and it looks like someone is dead set on taking the hotel out of the Rain families hands even if it means war. Intriguing, and looking forward to more.

"A Void of Magic" is a great beginning of a series I'm really looking forward to. With complex characters and a thrilling story, I hope Sandy Williams will keep the level in the following books.

I really enjoyed the story line in this book! The fantasy world meets “real” world was incredibly engaging. The battle between duty/loyalty to family and urge to live her own life of the main character was very relatable and added to the story. This is well written and very enjoyable to read. I would recommend this book!
