This story is an M/M romance about a retired Navy Seal Brick and Roman a CEO of a business. They meet due to Roman’s father's continual harassment of Brick’s late aunt on selling her property. Brick’s sense of honor and justice It is during this meeting which the story progresses as Brick and Roman are attracted to each other. As they come into more contact with each other, Brick realizes Roman is in danger and protects him. I liked it. It hits my HEA romance list which includes a mystery story. The author incorporation of military PTSD-related storyline. The relationship and support of Brick's military friends added to the story flow. I enjoy all types of military romances and Brick teammate/friend Fletcher was funny. This is a light book to read. This book seems to be a good start for the Fire Lake Book series. I will look forward to reading more about the group of brothers in arms.

This was such a short and sweet book!
I loved everything about this, I finished it in a day! The characters were so well developed for a short period of time with all the necessary backstory and all the information a reader needs to connect to a character. And the romance between Roman and Brick, even though it was more fast paced than a usual romance, was very well written and felt authentic. It had a great level of steam and I could feel the connection between the characters!
I need to read the rest of the guys' stories!! You can't leave me hanging! I'm definitely going to be reading more form M. Tasia, I enjoyed this one very much!
Thank you to NetGalley and Boroughs Publishing Group for the earc in return for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this book but my opinions are my own and are not influenced by the ARC.
I really enjoyed this book and author. It feels like the beginning of a series and i want to read more about the characters, so I'm excited for that. There was a lot of good about this, including sympathetic female characters whose lives don't revolve around gay men, who aren't easily dismissible, and who aren't easily put in categories of good or evil. This is sadly rare in this genre so always appreciated.
Also there were layers to this i appreciated. I'm not saying it was very mysterious or that i didn't see events coming, because i totally did, but it wasn't predictable and i appreciated that. Lots to like about this
All in all, it was enjoyable, but there were a few typos that better editing should have caught. Most of them were minor but a couple were jarring enough to bring me out of the story. One more editor please!

Brick is a romance story with a side order of suspense. Brick has inherited his aunt's house and now after leaving the navy and his role as a seal, he decides to move in and do the house up. He hasn't been there long when he learns of a local millionaire who not only wants to buy the house but was harassing his aunt to sell. His methods are less than shady and Brick decides to teach him a lesson. When he meets the man's son, Roman, he's not sure if he can trust him, but the attraction there is hard to deny.
This is a fairly quick read, but it still manages to cover quite a lot of ground. Brick is a typical alpha-protective type and when the life of his new love is threatened, he can't help but try to protect him. This was an entertaining read. A few little bits seemed a little far fetched, but nothing that ruined the story. If I had to find a fault it would be that when we find out who is behind everything that's been going on, it all seemed a little rushed, even though there are a few twists that I didn't see coming.
Overall this was a good read and a good start to a series. I'd be keen to see what the rest of the series will hold.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I loved it - I was worried about moving onto a new series because I really did like the previous one a lot but I ended up loving it. I will say I was caught off guard with who was behind the attacks, completely surprised. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

2.5 Brick stars! ⭐⭐✨
This was my official first M/M read so I was very excited about it.
It started good and the writing of the author was promising but then I started to lose interest in it but I keep on trying to give it a chance as I wanted to love this book.
But unfortunately, it was an okay read for me.
ARC provided by Netgalley!
Thank you so much!❤️

Brick is so close to being 5 Stars. I loved the premise of the book and the author did a great job with the first half. There was drama, suspense and the hint of what is to come between Brick and Roman.
The second half rushed by in a blur. I love Insta-love but this was didn't work for me. The search and capture of the culprit was too fast and although there is an explanation I didn't love it.
I feel a little short changed after the great build up.
I received a copy of the book for a honest review.

This book is no good. These sort of action/suspense/romance stories are often shit because the stakes and the characters don't match up. This one spends all this time on the rehab of a house/using Navy Seal tactics to take down goons in the woods. When the "romance" happens it's too fast and very boring. I stopped reading when it became a ham fisted lesson on the history of gays in the military. I would give it no stars if I could

3.5 stars! This is a m/m romance with Brick (38), an ex-Navy SEAL who has inherited his great aunts home and Roman (36), the CEO of the company that wants to purchase that home.
Brick is a great character, grumpy, quiet, holding in all that emotion so nothing escapes. Roman is a suit-wearing sweetheart who falls for Brick from their first meeting.
I loved how being around Roman instantly instils Brick’s need to protect him. I absolutely loved the turtle story and felt it was such a beautiful moment that Brick opened up and shared his emotions with Roman.
While there were parts of the story that felt rushed or not quite build upon, I liked it! The supporting characters were great and I look forward to seeing what the Lake House has for us in the future.
Thank you NetGalley and M. Tasia for the ARC of this title.

Michelle has always had a special gift in writing sweet, an emotional MM romances, featuring Alpha men with hearts of gold and Brick is par for the course.
I love how mature her characters are, knowing themselves, what they want and what they stand for and always following their heart and code of honor.
This is a great start to what I'm sure will be another great series!
5 stars and a rainbow turtle
