I absolutely loved this book My cone and Only is the perfect forbidden love rom-com I have been dying to read. The beginning was a little slow but after that section of the book I could not put My cone and only down. Wyatt is the perfect brothers best friend you shouldn't fall for, and I absolutely loved how he stood up for Andie. The tension in this book was perfect and I cant wait for book 2.

To be truthful, this was my first time reading a novel written by Susannah Nix. After reading the description provided by Netgalley, I was instantly drawn to My Cone and Only! This book has a little bit of everything! A great backstory, love, lust, humor and friendship - it’s truly and all-around great read!

I can’t wait to read more by Susannah Nix!

This is one of my favourite arc reads yet🥰 I ADORED this book so much.

Andy somehow reflects my character and her story is slightly similar to mine. Wyatt is what every girl dreams of. He’s swoons and charming, funny and sweet, but also a MAN. You know what I mean?

But Wyatt isn’t perfect. He comes with his own challenges. Like he himself said ‘he’s just a good fuck. Nothing serious.’ He jumps from jobs to jobs, isn’t exactly what you call stable and basically not something you want to marry into. But he’s also got the kindest and most loving heart. He’s loved one woman his entire life.

Andy isn’t some princess or a barbie doll. She isn’t plastic material. She’s realistic with the most random facts on the tip of the tongue. Not to mention she’s crazy intelligent. And she too has been in love with one man forever.

Her brother’s best friend.

I’ve always loved this trope, probably one of my favourites. But the author wrote so beautiful, you don’t feel like you’re reading a cliche.

This book is filled with sweet, swoony moments. It’s a perfect all-year-round read. I loved this book because it deals with real time issues like family, trust, confidence and courage. Stuff that we got through almost every day.

There were some pages I wanted to swipe through. But that was only because I wanted to reach the pages filled with Andy and Wyatt quickly because she wrote both of them so beautifully, I couldn’t let them go even for a second.. I felt I could skip the conversations between their families. You’re going to fall in love with these two characters so much, you won’t want to read about other small but necessary stuff for the plot.

First off this is really cute and I completely adored it! However, my one complaint is that our romantic hero doesn’t like ice cream! What kind of psycho doesn’t like ice cream! I can understand not wanting to eat your family’s brand of ice cream but he could have eaten generic ice cream 🍨. It’s Blasphemy. So moving on from that, the story is very precious Andie and Wyatt are adorable together. I also loved how developed their backgrounds were both had extensive family and friends and I thought it was a fun twist rather than just having the heroine with one or two friends and dead parent/parents. I really liked the setting and that Wyatt had multiple interests he could be in the band or a contractor I liked he wasn’t dependent on the band making it. I also liked his relationship with Ryan and Tanner and that all the siblings seemed to know his secrets. I also really liked his relationship with Mia and how this relatively new friend comes in clutch for everyone. I also liked Mia and Andie’s relationship it was super cute and I like that Andie was friendly with most of the women characters she interacts with. But the most important relationship is of course Andie and Wyatt and I love how their relationship develops it was very organic and felt natural. Additionally, I love that Andie didn’t make this dramatic she waited and talked to Wyatt there’s not unnecessary drama Andie was right and I’m behind her decision 100 percent. Final note, I want to thank the author for not adding songs to this book , I hate when books have fictional songs, one they always seem to diminish how awesome the band is supposed to be and two I cannot hear it so I don’t know if the song is actually good or not. That be said this is a super cute romcom and I would definitely recommend I’m gonna go look and see if any of Susannah Nix’s other books speak to me!

This was my first Susannah Nix story and I’m putting her backlist on my Want to Read list ASAP! My Cone and Only was a great, refreshing read after reading so many dark romances lately - it’s sweet, funny and so relatable.

Wyatt King is the black sheep of his family, not working for their creamery and actively avoiding all family obligations. He works as a handyman and contractor to pay the bills but he’s afraid to pursue something new that’s outside of his comfort zone that’ll make him happier. Wyatt is a perpetual flirt, however he’s had his heart set on his best friend Josh’s younger sister, Andie, since he was 17.

Andie Lockhart has been one of Wyatt’s best friends since childhood, but she’s felt more for him for a long time. She works as a park ranger and a professor and is trying to fix up the historic home that she inherited from her grandmother. She’s a strong, intelligent, no-nonsense, funny woman who is determined to fix her own problems whenever possible. But, after receiving notice from her HOA of some crazy charges, she enlists Wyatt to help her finish the updates and avoid having to sell her home.

Wyatt and Andie’s relationship had always been friendship but they both felt something more and had their own reasons for keeping their feelings to themselves. When they start spending more time together fixing up Andie’s house, they can’t keep their feelings underwrap anymore. Together, they’re super sweet, totally natural, completely uninhibited and definitely steamy. I loved how supportive Andie was about Wyatt pursuing his new endeavor and how insistent Wyatt was that he’d handle Andie’s struggles with her HOA.

My one hang up with this story was Andie’s pushiness when it came to going public with their relationship and especially Wyatt telling Josh what was happening between them. She claimed to know Wyatt so well but didn’t take the time to fully think about why he was so hesitant to tell him. After all the loss he’d experienced in his life, another potential loss was overwhelming to him and she pushed him to do something he clearly wasn’t ready for and it blew up in their faces before they realized how easy those overdue conversations could be once they got started.

I really love this world that Susannah has created with Crowder, TX and the King family. The possibilities for the range of stories she’ll be able to tell with all the brothers - the introvert, the fireman/Scottish Highland Games competitor, the bossy workaholic, the MIA rockstar...I don’t know which one I’m most excited for! Looking forward to seeing what the King family gets up to next.

This book was a lot of fun, realistic, and had a surprising amount of steaminess - phew! I really enjoyed meeting the citizens of Crowder, Texas and look forward to the next book!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Firstly a huge thanks to Haver Street Press and NetGalley for my e-ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Cone and Only is a a brother’s best friend romance and my first Susanne book. This book was the perfect blend of angst and romance and an appreciation for the author for the trigger warning page (*standing ovation*). The book follows Andie who works at the State part who has been in love with her brother’s best friend Wyatt King. Wyatt is this charming guy who loves attention and is part of the King’s Family who own this ice-cream place . Although when we meet Wyatt we get to see him as a womanizer, a huge flirt and someone who just loves his beer. But as the book evolves we get to watch them realize that they put the s in steam and l in love. It’s highly enjoyable and a first in a series.

A sweet take on the brother's best friend/little sister trope. Andie and Wyatt have been into each other forever, but neither can admit it because her brother/his best friend is between them. So they've had to settle for being friends, trying not to let on to the other how they feel. When Andie has a crisis and needs her old house fixed up in a hurry, she calls on Wyatt to help. Spending so much time together can't be a good idea, but surely they can handle it. Until a spontaneous kiss one night changes the whole game.

This is the first novel in a planned series about the King siblings. There are a lot of them, and I look forward to reading more of their stories. Fun and frothy, with a solid emotional core, plus Nix does a great job of writing sexy nerds who are embraced for their nerdiness.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC to review. All opinions are my own.

I requested an arc of My Cone and Only because of the adorable cover and cute synopsis! This book is about a pair of childhood friends navigating through the transition from friends to lovers in a small town. My Cone and Only incorporates some of my favorite tropes into one book: friends to lovers, small town romance, and brothers best friend! This was my first Susannah Nix novel and I think it is safe to say it will not be my last. I loved the sweet, smart, and sexy heroine Andie-- who is the perfect match for tortured soul Wyatt. Bonus trope: it has only ever been you! If you enjoyed any of the Winston Brothers series by Penny Reid you will love this book and I cannot wait for the rest of the series :)

My Cone and Only was a cute romance that leaves you wondering how many people there are out there pining after people for decades. Wyatt King is in love with his best friend's little sister (who isn't much younger than they are, so not creepy). Andie is in love with her older brother's best friend. See where this story is going? Andie inherits a house that really needs some work and Wyatt just so happens to be a handyman. The HOA starts to mess with Andie and Wyatt jumps in to help her. The proximity of the two definitely creates some steam and this is most def not a closed door romance!
Overall, I enjoyed the book and love any romance series that creates a bunch of characters to continue reading about (à la Winston Brothers and Bergman Brothers). Wyatt's character was not my personal favorite, only because I feel like I know too many guys like him. Andie was great and I liked that she was a strong female character! I will definitely be reading the next book in this series!
Thank you to Netgalley and Haver Street Press for this ARC ebook in exchange for an honest review!
I will be posting this on my bookstagram on 7/12/21.

When you've loved your brother's best friend all your life, one accidental kiss can spark a passionate romance.

Andie has loved her brother's best friend since she knew what love is and it's been difficult watching him traipse around with every female but her. When a developer threatens to take away her home, she turns to her brother's best friend to help fix her house. Wyatt has loved his best friend's sister since he was 17, but fear of losing his best friend has made him tamp down his feelings. However, when he kisses Andie, all bets are off.

This book was HOT. Like 4 chilies (🌶🌶🌶🌶) kind of hot. I absolutely loved every moment of it and the whole keeping their relationship a secret elevated the book.

Something that I enjoyed was the family dynamics that came into play for all the characters. It wasn't just all about them being hot and heavy the whole book, but instead, we got to see both Andie and Wyatt's interact with their families, show us their fears about the relationship, and grow as people. Wyatt was more than a womanizer who couldn't commit to anything.

Another element that I thought was really cute was the dancing that Wyatt and Andie did whenever they were at a bar. It was so fun to see them interact but also I could imagine them twirling around the floor, executing these complicated moves.

Overall, this is a definite must read and I can't wait to read the next book in the series because I'm definitely hooked.

So I thought this book sounded super cute. I loved the name : )

So I have read many books with the best friend's sister or brother trope. And tbh I wasn't super crazy about this one. Something that annoys me in these kind of books is that the guy is apparently"pining" over this girl yet for some reason is totally fine to sleep with tons of other girls and make her feel like she's just not good enough for him.

And Wyatt literally was not a book crush. He was so scared to tell Josh about him and Andie that it was pretty pathetic. Like I get that he's your best friend and you made a (super dumb) promise in high school, but you are adults.

Also just because you "can't have" the girl you love doesn't mean you have to be a major douche. Idk. I liked Andie and the concept, but I didn't think Wyatt was worth the heartache. It really did seem like he was totally okay with Andie being miserable keeping this secret.

I will say the ending was pretty great and Wyatt did a pretty fair amount of groveling.

This was far from perfect, but if you enjoy the best friend's little sister trope check this out!

* friends to lovers
* best friend's sister / brother's best friend
* small town
* forbidden love
* secret relationship
* aCciDeNtAL kiss
* dual pov

Wyatt and Andie have known each other since high school and they've been secretly in love with each other since then. They both think their feelings are one-sided. Andie has never thought about making a move because she notices how he treats other women, that he touches them a little longer and more tenderly, and all he does is pulls her ponytail. Wyatt cannot confess his feelings because he promised Josh, his best friend and Andie's older brother, that he'd keep his hands off her. Josh believes that a person who is reckless and flirts with every woman, cannot take his sister seriously.

Andie is a strong and self-sufficient woman. She doesn't like asking anyone for help, but the fear of losing her beloved home causes her to ask Wyatt for a favor, who immediately starts renovating her house. They spend time together every day, and hiding their feelings is getting harder and harder.

Wyatt feels like the black sheep in the family. How can he fit into the image of the ideal family who own a well known ice cream company in their small Texas town, when he is a 30 year old carefree man with unstable job and a tiny, college student apartment? He had lost a lot of people who mattered to him in a short span of time. After his mother death, he hadn't let anyone new get close to him. That's why he avoids close relationships. But Andie knows the way to his heart. She is the only one who knows that under the layers of fun, charming and good-time Wyatt, there is so much more he can offer.

Ngl, I'm wary of the "best friend's sister" trope because sometimes hero is overprotective of the ADULT woman and calls her "baby girl" or something like that. It's creepy and unnecessary. But that's not the thing with "My cone and only". Wyatt finds Andie smart and confident and he is amused with her kick-ass attitude.

I enjoyed the family dynamic, even if it was a tough cookie. I usually don't like when romance start so early, but those stealthy looks, the dances and touches under the table made me smile. Their banter, intimacy and chemistry felt so natural.

Susannah's second book looks so promising but why do I have to wait so long for Lucy's and Tanner's story? I'm not a patient person.

I can’t say enough good things about this book! Amazing story plot, great build up of characters and even set up so well for the second book. Highly recommend!!!

My Cone and Only is one of the top 5 books I've read this year. It's absolutely everything I adore in contemporary romance. It's hilarious, smart, sweet, witty, has excellent characters, and is so well written (and that adorable cover, I'm in love). The dynamic between Andie and Wyatt is pure fire, the palpable tension, the banter, my heart could hardly take the pining, it's just *chef's kiss* perfection. I honestly wanted to start a re-read immediately. I can not wait to see where the rest of this series goes. If you want to get lost in a story, lose track of all time, have your heart broken, and then put back together, and laugh while it's all happening, read this.

Such a sweet romance read! I loved this friends-to-lover/brother’s best friend trope.

The relationship between Wyatt and Andie was very well written and there was just the right amount of steam and drama. I also love the play on words with the title.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author and I’m excited to pick up her previous and her next one!

Thanks to NetGalley and Susanne Nix for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion!

A huge thank you to the author and NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Ahh this was such a cute read! The perfect amount of romcom and angsty feels was just enough to keep me reading on and on that I finished this in just a few hours!

I’ve always loved the drama that comes with the “my best friend’s brother” trope so I really enjoyed Andie and Wyatt’s story! Their banter and chemistry was so good! The spicy scenes had the perfect amount of steam as well! I loved that I was swooning and laughing one moment then tear up the next especially with the pressure of them keeping their relationship a secret so that they won’t disappoint the person they both love (Andie’s brother) was just everything! I loved the angst they had to do through and all the cuteness in their making up towards the end!

I also loved their characters individually with Andie being such a badass with an interesting job you don’t usually see in romance novels and with Wyatt being an up and coming vocalist and song writer.

I really enjoyed the family dynamics and friendships in this! The King family was the most interesting and from what I’ve read of Wyatt’s siblings, I’m so intrigued and excited for their books! (I can’t wait for Tanner’s next but I’m on the look out for Ryan or Brady’s book the most because we love band members and firemen!) I’m also ready for all the ice cream puns!

Overall, this was such a sweet, adorable read with a side of angst! Perfect for romcom and ice cream lovers! I’m excited for what else the author has in store! (I’ll also be taking my sweet time reading her backlist titles bc I fell in love with this!)

My Cone and Only by Susannah Nix

‘That was why she remained my one unbroken rule.  The one line I’d never dare to cross and never would.

But I couldn’t stop torturing myself.  I couldn’t stay away from her.  Couldn’t stop thinking about her and craving her attention.  Couldn’t resist imagining how it’d feel to tangle my fingers in her sleek, brown ponytail and tug her head back for a kiss.  Couldn’t help the ache I felt every time I laid eyes on her.’

My Cone and Only, the first book of author Susannah Nix’s brand new series, was - simply put - an arousing, beautifully chaotic mix of unrequited feelings, weighty obligations, concrete promises, denied desire and once-in-a-lifetime-love.  A barrage of expectations and complications, woven together beautifully with stirring dialogue and bewitching characters.

On the surface, it may appear to be a simple ‘older brother’s best friend’ romance trope.  However, writer Susannah Nix has crafted an elaborate and decidedly delicious connection between Wyatt and Andie, elevating their romance story from your typical trope, to something more daring, dazzling and provoking.

The sexual tension was palpable, a tangible thing, dancing along each chapter, infusing their shared past and present with something magnificent.  Add in the casual touches, the stuttered breaths, the almost kisses and the shared wishes - it all created an incendiary element to an already crackling relationship between our hero and heroine, it's sensual, carnal, brazen and deeply romantic.

Our heroine, Andie was absolutely magnificent.  Someone I could connect with and love almost instantaneously.  She was loyal, so much fun, cheeky and joyful, the personification of friendship, love and devotion.  I loved that she was confident in who she was, on the outside and on the inside.  She was strong and self-assured yet she had one giant weakness - her covert feelings for her brother’s best friend.  I really enjoyed immersing myself in Andie’s shoes.  Watching her get everything she had ever wanted, feel the things she was feeling, the joy, elation, and uncertainty, the pain and heartbreak,the ramifications and fallout and of course obtaining her happy-ever-after.

‘I never should have let myself love you.

Her words haunted me.  They kept tumbling around in my head, leaving painful cuts everywhere they touched.’

Wyatt, our hero, was a heartrending masterpiece.  A man who exuded confidence (borderline arrogance) and charm, who wooed and wowed the female population in droves but who harboured some pretty intense and secretive feelings of his own.  Secretive ambitions about his career and his love life.  There were so many layers to his character it was like playing pass the parcel.  The moment the music stopped, another sheet of wrapping paper was torn away and a new, decisively alluring element to his personality was revealed.  He was an absolute sweetheart.  A dirty talking, very talented, sweetheart.  And when he let himself love, he loved hard and all in.

If you’re in the market for an utterly resplendent, alluring and breathtaking romance, then I’m going to tell you that author Susannah Nix’s brand new release My Cone and Only is the one book that you need in your life, to bring about those wonderful, chaotic butterfly feelings in your tummy.  It is the most perfect, arousing and beautifully written summer read.  One of my top reads for the year, guaranteed to bring forth a book hangover,

This was such a sweet friends to lovers romance. Andie has had feelings for her older brother's best friend Wyatt as long as she can remember, but she's certain Wyatt only sees her as an extra little sister. Wyatt's had feelings for Andie since high school, but she's been off-limits ever since her brother Josh made him promise he would always watch out for Andie. At a few points I got frustrated that Wyatt wouldn't come clean to Josh, but overall I really enjoyed this romance.

Susannah Nix writes about women in STEM and I really enjoy that. I like strong and smart women in books.

Andie has been harbouring romantic feelings for her brother's best friend Wyatt for years and she does not know he has been feeling the same. Hindered by his promises to her brother, Wyatt has never made a move. When Wyatt helps Andie fight of the HOA by working on her house, their feelings come to the surface.

I liked Andie. She was spunky and rather straight forward. Wyatt however bugged me as he seemed to have no real purpose at all. Women, weed, working just enough to pay his bills... His family kind of owned the town as the biggest employer but Wyatt wanted no part of that. Fortunately he did grow on me later on in the story!
