This is another cute rom com by Susannah Nix. This is the first book about the King siblings and their ice cream business. Wyatt is one of the sons who has distanced himself from his family after his mother died. Andie is his best friends little sister who he has been in love with since he was seventeen. Because his best friend Josh told made him promise to protect his sister he has never spoken of his feelings for her. He has been a great friend to her though but had also become quite the ladies man never getting serious with anyone. Andie has shared the same feelings for Wyatt and kept quiet too. When Andie's house gets slapped with fines from her HOA if she doesn't get repairs done she calls Wyatt to help. Once Wyatt starts being at her house everyday their feelings come out but he wants to keep it a secret because of Josh. As y0u can imagine this works for awhile, but eventually things come to a head.

One of my least favorite romance tropes is the guy who won’t go for a relationship with his best friend’s little sister. I can never understand why the brother would be so adamant that a guy he likes enough to be best friends with should never, ever date his sister. That’s the premise of this book. Wyatt has been attracted to Andie since they were teenagers. But her brother made him promise to never have anything romantic with Andie. They can be friends and dance together at the local gathering place in their small Texas town, but that’s it. And, of course, Andie has had a crush on Wyatt just as long. It’s now about 13 years later and both have suffered and never had a lasting relationship because no one measures up to their first love. And Wyatt has drifted around, never settling down despite being the son of the richest family in town.

We all know that Andie and Wyatt are going to finally give in to their attraction. And then the brother is going to find out and there is going to be a mess before they can get their HEA. The person who gets off the easiest is the brother. He can’t seem to believe that Wyatt has been keeping his promise from when they were in high school. He basically forced his sister and best friend to waste over a decade when they were both unhappy and unfulfilled all because he seemed to think he could dictate who dated his sister.

Andie and Wyatt are a nice couple and I was pulling for them, but I was so irritated with the brother’s arrogance and selfishness that I wanted to just smack him.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

This is the kind of romance I have been needing. Older brother’s best friend Wyatt and the girl next door Andie are practically perfect in every way for each other and we get to go in this wonderful journey to see them find their happily ever after. I just cannot wait to read more books in this world. Thank you so much for letting me read this.

I was SO excited when I got approved for an arc of this book; the cover is gorgeous, the synopsis is intriguing and I love me a bit of childhood-friends-for-over-ten-years-to-lovers.

Unfortunately, this book just wasn’t for me; it reminds me a lot of the romance books I used to pick up when I was a teenager, recycling the same plot lines and personality traits.

Wyatt is in his early thirties (?) and all we hear about for the first half is how much of a womaniser he is; a new woman every night with little care for their feelings, perpetually drunk and mildly into drugs with a messy apartment and zero life prospects.

As you can probably guess, I just couldn’t get down with caring about him or his redeeming story line, or how these self-destructive tendencies were used as a coping mechanism to drown his feelings for Andie.

I felt like I’d read the overprotective big brother plot line one too many times, and this paired with it being the main reason for Wyatt not acting on his feelings felt like a massive excuse for lack of a more complex character development and plot line.

Now, I’m not saying the sex scenes were the only interesting and fun part of this book but...

As much as I wanted to enjoy this and root for the MC’s, I just couldn’t bring myself to care much about any of the characters or the trivial issues they came across. I felt like I’d read this book before, there was nothing overly unique about it and it’s extremely forgettable, BUT it is a fun, quick read that I know a lot of people will love.

(Side note: I’ll definitely be picking up Lucy and Tanner’s book, so fingers crossed I enjoy it more than this one!)

his book was so good. I love friends-to-lovers, and this was such a great take on that trope. Wyatt and Andie have had feelings for each other since high school, but neither knows about the other. And Wyatt won't ever let on because Andie is his best friend's little sister. The tension is real and very well done.

I particularly enjoyed the dancing scenes, and they made me want to go out dancing. But really, their whole relationship shows chemistry and intimacy and trust with all their friends seeing how perfect they are for each other.

There's a lot going on beyond them too, as we get to meet Wyatt's extended family. He has many step and half brothers, and his family is well known as the owners of the major employer in their small Texas town. It took a bit for me to follow all the relationships. Once I did, I could see how well this story will set up an ongoing series with lots of potential for drama.

This was my first book by Susannah Nix. I was only a few chapters in before realizing it followed the last of her Chemistry Lessons series. So I fully expect to get and read all of those soon. And I will be eagerly anticipating the next in the King Family series.

Thank you to Haver Street Press, Susannah Nix and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

I will post this review to Instagram before publication date.

This book had badass heroines who know the most random facts. Charming heroes who can write and sing their own music. Small towns! Dancing like nobody’s watching. Lifelong friendships turned into love. And lastly two characters finding themselves. I really loved this book!

Who in all the world does not like ice cream ? Well our hero because all he ever had as kid was ice cream . He is in love with his best friend little sister but afraid to act to his feelings and so he has become a playboy . She is in love with him but she thinks that he is seeing her as his sister . I loved his family and their way with each other .
I received this novel from net galley and the publisher as an ARC. Thank you! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you love a book with:
-mutual pining
-small town setting
-brother's bff/bff's little sister
-females in STEM careers
-only ever loved them
-ice cream
-some family drama
Then this wonderful, engaging book is for you. Andi has been in love with Wyatt, her brother's bff and the town playboy, since she was a kid. He's always nice to her but never flirts or crosses any lines. Why is that? Because he needs to keep a safe distance or else his love for her will spill out. for everyone (including her brother) to see. When Andi needs his help repairing her house, Wyatt steps up and demonstrates that he is more than just the town playboy. These two as a couple are so genuine and the joy he feels in her and the way she brings out the best in him, it's just heart melting. Definitely read this book if you want to escape to a small town in Texas that has a lot of ice cream and men who fall hard for strong women.

My Cone and Only was so much fun! The dynamic between Wyatt and Andie was on point. I love a good "will they/won't they" tension and this delivered 100%.

Andie has been pining for her brother's best friend, Wyatt since she was a teen. Unbeknownst to her - Wyatt feels the same. Wyatt has been in love with Andie for years and trying everything he can to avoid his feelings. He's convinced that as his best friend's little sister, Andie is off completely off limits. Neither Andie nor Wyatt want to act on their feelings out of fear of losing their friendship (or damaging their respective relationships with her brother). When Andie goes to Wyatt for help with her house renovations, he steps in to save the day.

Aaaaaaand we all know what happens when there's some feelings thrown in with forced proximity - not to mention some hard labor..... ;-)

Can Wyatt tame his playboy ways? Can Andie trust him to handle her heart with care? Will her brother ever forgive them if they cross the line? So many questions that Susannah Nix does a fabulous job of answering.

Nix's characters are relatable and just all around likable. The set up for future installments was seamless and left me wanting to continue following the King family and their friends. This is an open door romance, so there are some NSFW scenes, but overall it was tasteful and added another layer to the featured relationship.

Thank you to NetGalley and Haver Street Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Andie Lockhart has had a crush on Wyatt King for as long as she can remember but has come to terms with the fact that he'll never see her as anything but his best friend's little sister. She has to watch as he flirts his way through all the women in their small town, all the while trying to hide the fact that she desperately wishes she could be the one he lavishes his attention on. What Andie doesn't know is that Wyatt has harbored feelings for her just as long as she has for him, but a promise to her brother when they were young has kept him from ever acting on his urges. When a real estate developer threatens to take away Andie's beloved house she inherited from her grandma, Wyatt is determined to help her. As the pair spend every waking moment together fixing the old house up, it becomes increasingly harder to hide their feelings from one another, and after a mind-blowingly great kiss one night, why should they? Andie is elated when Wyatt returns her feelings but will the promise he made to her brother ruin their chances at love before it even begins?

Much like Andie and her favorite ice cream flavor, I ate this book up! I read it in a day because I didn't want to put it down. This was my first book by Nix, but it definitely won't be the last. Her writing was so easy to fall into and I was fully charmed by her characters and the small town vibes she created. The banter between Andie and Wyatt was everything, and I loved how the transition from friends to something more was so effortless and natural. Not to mention their chemistry was off the charts. It was also so satisfying watching Wyatt open up to Andie and become more vulnerable about himself and his insecurities. I did get a little annoyed with just how ridiculously overprotective Andie's brother was regarding her love life but other than that, I couldn't get enough of this and will be counting down the days until the next book.

I loved the book, ok!! I selected this one cause it sounded like something that I would love and I wasn't wrong.
I love this sort of plot, falling for best friend's sister but you can't do anything cause you fear you will lose both and you don't want to. Thanks to the author for writing this with two povs. Cause it physically hurts me to not know what's on both protagonist's heads. Also, I am the sort of person who would've enjoyed playing matchmaker of my best friend and my brother😅😅or sister, well, I don't have either of them, so..... But I have lots of cousins and we are close and they are my friends and best friends(though they are tiny and only two of them are teenagers).back to the book!! Sorry for the rant!!
The book features Andie and Wyatt. Andie is Wyatt's best friend Josh's sister. Josh is Wyatt's other family, and he is really protective of his sister. Josh makes it very clear that Andie is off limit and not wanting to lose his best friend, Wyatt never tried to pursue his feelings for Andie, even though he like her since he was 17 years old. More than 10years later, will he pursue her now? Will he choose her this time? Or his fear will come in the way?
The story was really sweet. I loved how the author kept the growth of the characters. How amazing she wrote a family for Wyatt, the family banter, the not liking part - everything felt real.
I hated Andie at some point:
*Even she wanted a relationship, but when things go sideways she was blaming only Wyatt as if he was the one initiating everything.
* the fact that she never trusted him.
* if she had a certain point she never said it, but instead of that, she hoped Wyatt will get it. And instead of solving problems like a real person, she chooses to be pushy-not thinking about how it will affect Wyatt.
Things I hated about Wyatt:
* he needed to grow a backbone.
* instead of building a life around what others wanted, he should've been there for himself too.

Apart from these, they were really sweet. It Seemed liked perfect matched. I had fun reading the book. I loved the banters, and everything else. 3.5

First of all has there ever been a more adorable title then My Cone and Only! I don’t think so! Having read all of Susannah Nix’s previous books I knew this was going to be wonderful. It was truly a delightful book. My favorite type of romance is a two perspective story. I was rooting for Wyatt and Andy from the first chapter! I am so looking forward to reading all of the King family books. #MyConeAndOnly #NetGalley

I was ensnared right off the bat in the first chapter as Andie dances with the man she has had a crush on for years after watching him flirt with every other woman in the bar. Wyatt is a notorious flirt and her brother’s best friend. He has never seemed to seen to see her as anything more than a friend. Little does she know that he flirts with everyone because he cannot be with the one woman he wants. This was such a charming story. I loved the way that Wyatt and Andie’s long history together stands out on the page. Wyatt has a very complicated family which added another dimension to the story and made me eager to read the next books in the story.

This is the must read summer romance of 2021!

Andie and Wyatt are explosive together and their journey to love was just absolutely beautiful!

Andie is trying to keep her inheritance and enlists the help of her brothers best friend Wyatt! She struggles because she has always had a thing for him but Wyatt is a ladies man and doesn’t do commitment! As they spend more and more time together their walls crumble but will Wyatt fight for what they have or is it just a fling?

Wyatt for me was just everything! Yes he made me want to shake him but his heart is in the right place and he has a lot of growing to do! I loved how he progressively showed who he was and that we got to experience his journey and see him grow into the man he can be!

This was a laugh out loud story with many lighthearted moments as well as some emotional ones! A very great all around romance!

Sweet, romantic and full of charm, My Cone and Only is a wonderful read.

I'm a bit of a sucker for brothers-best-friend, friends-to-lovers romances, so this one was right up my ally.
This book was fun and light, with a bout of angst and some sizzle to boot, well rounded characters, intriguing family dynamics, good dialogue and a swoony ending that will melt your heart, it's a sweet treat to any and all.

4.5 stars and a scoop of bubblegum ice cream

Book: My Cone and Only
Author: Susannah Nix
Star Rating: 4 stars
Publication Date: 20th July 2021

I adored the story of Andie and Wyatt from the very beginning. It was a story that kept me guessing throughout even though it was a love story with a predictable ending.

The story turned Fifty Shades of Grey at some points throughout the story with some very raunchy scenes which of course made it all the more enjoyable... LOL

I really enjoyed the dynamics of all the characters and loved meeting the wide cast we got introduced to throughout. I look forward to getting to know more about the King family as the series progresses.

I would have dove head first into the second book if it was available. My Cone and Only was a great start to a series I know I am gong to love. It was a quick and easy book to read full of friendships, romance, laughter and heartbreak. This is for sure one to add to your TBR.

Thanks so much to Net Galley and Author Collective 20 for the advance readers copy of My Cone and Only in exchange for an honest review.

The cover of the book is very cute and fun to look at. It is also fitting for the story as the King's own a creamery.

This is the first best friend and sibling of the best friend trope since I realized that I'm not too fond with an already established friendship/relationship by the time I started reading. It felt like I missed out on too much but there's no backtracking that I could do, however, I took a chance on this (thank you for THAT synopsis and that cute cover), the story did not disappoint.

I always read the dedication of the book and can I just say that this one's just very sweet and heartwarming? Thank you for dedicating a book for your readers, and as one of them, Nix totally won me over.

Wyatt is a character that I did not instantly like. In the beginning, his character seemed happy-go-lucky, flirting around, goofing around, but in the contrary, he has a depth in his character. I honestly can't believe how it took Wyatt 13 years to actually go for Andie, but I guess... a promise is a promise. Andie Lockhart is a character that does not need much effort for you to love her. She's smart, has a mind of her own, and is emotionally strong.

If you're in search for some cute romance with a little bit of spice (or not just a little bit), then this is for you. I highly recommend!

Huge thanks to NetGalley for providing me an eARC in exchange with an honest review,

The first in a new series about the King family, My Cone and Only is set in a small town and is grounded but doesn’t feel small. Susannah Nix’s first series, Chemistry Lessons, was mostly set in LA and featured scientists. The new series is set in a small town in Texas, home to a famous ice cream company (Blue Bell without the listeria), run by the patriarch of a family that’s been through a lot. Wyatt has shunned the family business, getting by as a handy man and playing in a small-time cover band. He’s known as a love him and leave him sort, but secretly pines after his best friend’s younger sister, Andie. Andie has had a crush on Wyatt for years, but he never seems to see her like that.
What I like most about the book is that although it’s set in a small town and has the brother’s best friend trope, it doesn’t feel dated. And the issues that each character is going through feel true to life. Yes, there’s a promise to never date his best friend’s little sister, but that’s not the obstacle nearly as much as Wyatt’s issues with dreaming of a different, more vulnerable life. The characters have an easy, believable chemistry.
Some of the scenes that Nix does best here are the going out in a small town, where you already know all the people you’re drinking with, but you still get dressed up anyways.
You first meet Wyatt and Andie in Mia’s book, the last one in the Chemistry Lessons series. I was wary about where I’d be enough interested in them, but in Nix’s capable hands, I needn’t have worried. And the glimpses of the other brothers leaves me interested in learning more about the King family (tightly wound Tanner is next).

I loved the cover and description of the book, it looked so fun. I am happy to report it lived up to the expectations!

Andie has always had feelings for Wyatt, and Wyatt for her, but neither know it. To Andie, Wyatt has always seemed uninterested in her, probably because Wyatt is her older brothers best friend and she feels he sees her as a little sister. For Wyatt, Andie has been off limits because her brother told him he couldn't date her… ever. When Andie needs help getting her house up to snuff to meet the HOA guidelines, she turns to Wyatt for help.

The brother's best friend trope can be hit or miss for me, but this one was a hit for me. I adored both Wyatt and Andie though. Andie seemed quirky and she seemed to bring out this soft side of Wyatt. The build up to their relationship felt natural and I could totally feel the chemistry. Their physical chemistry was amazing too, with lots of steam.

I also really liked the family dynamics and the cast of characters we got to meet. I can't wait to read more about the King family!

The only thing I didn't really enjoy was the conflict near the end of the book, it just didn't feel as natural as it could be.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

A quick, easy read full of angst, romance and friendships! I read most of the book in one sitting and I highly recommend it for those who love this trope! I particularly enjoyed the plot line and the family dynamics which gave more depth to the story than just the romance. Can't wait to read more from this series.

Huge thanks to Net Galley for the digital copy!
