RL Stine never stops never stopping! This was all the chills, thrills, and kills my high school self could want! I thought the plot was subpar, but the creepiness was A++!

Thank you #Netgalley for the advance audiobook copy of Give me a K-I-L-L by R. L. Stine in exchange for an honest review. This series has been a lot of fun to listen to. They are short, entertaining stories with murder and intrigue. I really like listening to them when I just want to relax and enjoy myself for a bit. The power went out a few days ago and I listened to the story and took advantage of the dark, creepy atmosphere.

This is a decent book in the Fear Street Relaunch series. I read/listened to this book with my granddaughter as part of her summer reading challenge. The story touches on some real issues that teens face. The new kid in school. Working hard to reach a goal, but someone else wins the last spot on the cheer team, and regular teen angst.

Give Me a K-I-L-L follows the formula, so to speak of this series. My granddaughter absolutely loved the story and didn't want to put it down. I loved reading it with her. There is the regular horror that we love and enjoy in this series. The twists are unexpected and add angst to this fast paced story. A must read for the Goosebumps fans.

Since we did a read/listen to the story I must comment that the narrator does an excellent job.

We loved it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Young Listeners, Macmillan Audio, R. L. Stine, and Brittany Pressley (narrator) for the opportunity to listen to Give Me a K-I-L-L in exchange for an honest review.

I used the NetGalley Shelf app to listen to this book. Brittany Pressley is once again the narrator. She has narrated the other Fear Street audiobooks in the relaunch as well and has done a great job portraying the female narrators. I thought the character in this book was a bit conceited and couldn't quite figure her out, and Pressley does a great job at making this character just the right blend of annoying, odd, prissy, and mysterious.

Gretchen loves cheerleading, but her move to Shadyside might be rather disappointing, as the Shadyside cheerleading squad might have to be cut. When it turns out that the cheerleading squad will remain, Gretchen is more than enthusiastic about trying out for the team. She already knows she's a great cheerleader, but only one thing stands in her way: Devra Dalby.

Will Gretchen really fall to anything, maybe even murder, to be the one to get the open spot on the squad?

Of the three books I have read in the Fear Street relaunch, this was my least favorite. I found it to be not very scary or mysterious, and it just felt very generic. Despite this, I did really like the twists at the end. There was more than one and it was very interesting.

I am and 80’s baby that grew up in the 90’s. I think I had every single Fear Street book. I would buy them at B. Dalton books. Oh how I loved them. This was wonderfully nostalgic. I enjoyed the story and narration. Good twist at the end as well.

Love this! This is just the kind of fluffy nostalgia I needed right now. I read R. L. Stine obsessively back in the day and this was a familiar step back to those books. In fact it makes me want to revisit some of my old favorites. The narrator was great and I really enjoyed the ride.

Out of the 3 of the Fear Street books I read recently, this one had a lot more teenage drama and less likable characters. Upon thinking about this, I usually find the main characters annoying so I'm not sure if this one is moreso than the others or if i'm just old now lol. The characters are cheerleaders and I think the point is they're the 'mean girl' cheerleaders.

I enjoyed the story as a whole. The narration by Brittany Pressley was fantastic. She gave a great performance and was the perfect voice for the characters.

This book started out slow but quickly picked up the pace. I think this is my favorite of the new three books.

This one was a bit darker than the others from this relaunch. It started SUPER slow. By the end, it was quick and everything seemed to happen all at once.

I went back and forth on “who dunnit” quite a bit here from about the middle on. Idk, I had several thoughts about who did it - definitely figured it out early but then second guessed myself a few times.

I enjoyed it once the fast pace began. The beginning was pretty rough - but it all came together and I definitely recommend it.

Shoutout to NetGalley for the audiobook copy of this one!

Out of all 3 of the Fear Street novels that NetGalley has offered me so far, this one was probably my least favorite. The cheerleader drama was a little too much for me and after really enjoying the first one and starting to lose interest in the second one I listened to, this one just seemed to follow along in that downward slope.

I grew up on R.L. Stine. These books did not disappoint. He is still one of the best story teller's. Of course this is geared towards YA. I would love if he wrote a few general fiction books.

Give Me a K-I-L-L by R.L. Stine is one of the newest additions to the Fear Street family. I think this book is great for the YA crowd. Though I'm out of the YA age range, I typically still love YA novels. This one was pretty decent and kept me listening through to the end. The main character, Heather, is a bit annoying, as is most of the character set, though I definitely think that is the point, as they are kind of mean girl cheerleaders. This one wasn't as paranormal scary as some of the others, but I like that you never know what you're going to get with the Fear Street novels.

Heather recently moved and is eager to be a part of the Shadyside cheer team. Devra is essentially her arch-enemy. Devra is a rich girl that seems to get everything that she wants. When accidents begin to happen to those around Heather, she suspects Devra is behind it all. She has no idea what's really going on and is definitely in for the surprise of her life!

The narration was done well and Brittany Pressley's voice was perfect for the characters. She really brought them to life and added to the story. Thanks so much to #NetGalley and #MacmillanAudio for the opportunity to listen and review this title!

Enjoyed the story. Didn't really like any of the characters; typical cheerleader types. Was surprised by the ending, didn't see that twist coming. Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook

Okay... so I grew up reading R.L Stine. I checked a different book out each week at the school library in middle school, all by r.l stine. But this book... Man, was I disappointed. The main character is HORRIBLE. And it's really important to have a character that is easy to get into and this was NOT one. She was a cheerleader who was sneaking around with her team mates boyfriend and didn't even really seem to have much guilt about it. Don't get me started on the stuff happening to her and how she reacted (Or didn't react) to them. I got over halfway through this book and just didn't have it in me to finish it. I still love his books, this just isn't a very good one.

After binge watching the Fear Street movies on Netflix, I decided to check out some of the books. YA isn’t really my thing, but I grew up reading RL Stine. I really enjoyed this story. I had figured out most but not all of the twists by the end, and overall, it was a fun read.

Good teen thriller. Many childhood memories. R.L. Stine knows how to tell a twisted story. I hope to be able to read more in the near future.

This was so much fun! Listened as an audio and I have to admit, just as good as the first time I stumbled on Fear Street books. I was hooked right from the start. New girl, new town - the pranks, the weird mumblings, the door banging. I loved it all! I can't wait to see the re-boot show on Netflix and read the rest in the series!

A huge thank you to the author and publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

I grew up loving R.L. Stine. I’m pretty sure I read every Fear Street book I could find. When Netflix released the Fear Street movie, it got me nostalgic and then I discovered there were new Fear Street books for nostalgic adults like me!

This Fear Street novel is about Gretchen who moves to Shadyside after her parents’ divorce. Her mom and she buy a bargain house on Fear Street. Gretchen is a talented cheerleader and wants to join the Shadyside High squad. The only thing that standing in her way is Devra Dalby who is also trying out for the one spot on the squad. Then horrible things start to happen.

Three words to describe this book: Nostalgic. Camp. Cheerleaders.

Cover: Definitely is Fear Street cover vibes. There is the main character with an ominous distant picture.

Character Development: There is basically no character development in this novel. I’m okay with that! Gretchen wants to be a cheerleader and that is her entire existence. She develops a friendship with a violin player named Madison and starts to a relationship with Sid. These interactions are centered around being a cheerleader and do not have much depth.

World-Building: I really wish there was more world-building. She moves into Fear Street and there are some illusions to bad stuff, but the book doesn’t dive into them at all. It really feels like this could have happened at any high school.

Plot & Pacing: I found this short audiobook to be a bit on the slow side for the first 50%. After that, it really picks up. I did find some of the horror to be surprising and love that R.L. Stine created horrific incidents without a ton of gore. I thought the ending was the best part of this book – it has some nice twists.

Narrator: I felt the narrator captured Gretchen’s personality. It sounded like an angsty teenager!

Verdict: If you need some 90’s nostalgia, this book may scratch the itch a bit – but I think there are better options out there. At a little over 5 hours, it was a quick and fun listen for me.

ARC was provided to me by MacMillan Audio, in exchange for an honest review.

I felt very lucky to be approved to listen to the audio book for this one and get the chance to give my feedback. R. L. Stine was one of my favorite authors as a child and I am excited that Fear Street books are making a come back. I honestly wondered where they went since there were so many. The twists in this story were decent but not totally unpredictable in my opinion. But it definitely brought back my own teenage angst and enjoyment at finding the world of horror which created a love I still have now. In this book Gretchen is new to Shadyside and she really wants to be a cheerleader, but the only spot was already promised to rich girl Devra who was not pleased to learn there would be tryouts. Like any good Fear Street story there is violence and death tied into the teenage drama. I’m excited to read or listen to o more in this re-launch. I also loved the narrator and thought she did an excellent job creating the characters.
