Adorable read with enough conflict to make the story interesting!! I liked the characters and finished this quickly! Great easy listen for the season

LOVE! Super cute rom com. Sometimes the "too damaged for love" trope feels a little old, but Lee didnt harp on that point instead focusing on our couple falling for each other. Just a simple sweet story with a great HEA.

The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee
Narrated by Natalie Naudus

⭐⭐⭐ This was a cute romance. I liked the plot idea, four dates where most things go wrong, and then fall in love on the "non-dates". I think the author wrote her descriptions well, I could clearly picture the scenes taking place. I do think, there was a bit too much time spent with their inner monologue describing their attraction to each other, sort of took away the chemistry for me and made it seem more like just meaningless words. But that could just be me. I was happy it wasn't a story loaded with sex, which was a nice change for me.

The narrator did a good job. She was clear and had a decent range of voices for the different characters. I would listen to her again.

Both the author and narrator were new to me.

** I received an arc of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.**

A quick romance read or rather listen, in this case. Some spicy scenes but the story was a little underwhelming. If you need an easy read on a sunny summer day this ones a good fit. Both characters are likable with their own complexities. The plot was good and had the anticipated ending. For some reason I didn’t care for the narrators inflections and voice alterations between characters.

I loved this book from the beginning to the end! From the minute they saw each other at the wedding and were staring at each other, Tara and Seth were destined to collide. Was it going to be good or not so good? Only time would tell. Tara's best friend and Seth's brother had just gotten married and both of their worlds are up ended and the chemistry between them is palpable. When what starts out as a dating dare of four dates turns into so much more who is going to win...or lose...This one had me laughing and cursing at them at times and cheering them on. I enjoyed this one in audio and binged it in practically one sitting it was so good!

If you’re looking for a steamy, romantic, and oh so adorable novel that will tug at your heartstrings.. look no further! This quirky love story will have you “aww”-ing for days to come. This corny, and super sweet novel will make you believe in love if ever you stopped believing in such a thing. Seth and Tara are not looking for love, but what they do know is they are incredibly attracted to each other. What would you do in this situation? You flirt a little, maybe a lot..
Tara and Seth first connect at a wedding, where they find each other a bit annoying, a little mysterious, and well Seth has a lot to say let’s put it that way. So at this point Seth is still talking lol, and Tara is playing a little hard to get LBH.
We the readers are starting to feel a spark between the two, but wait.. oh no.. Seth is leaving to Paris?? In a month?? Nooooo..
But reader do not fret, for these two think of a clever plan to continue seeing each other.. without. commitment. Yes that’s right!
4 dates. No strings attached. But what happens if the falling for each other becomes.. inevitable?
An extremely cute page turner, with ALL the sizzle you need. AND MORE🔥

This was a sweet, lighthearted romcom. While predictable, it’s exactly what one wants in a romcom book. The characters had chemistry and I loved the concept of the 4 dates dare that starts it all with these two. I just felt like Seth going to Paris was just a way for their last date to be in Paris without giving Seth a great reason to be there.

I LOVED THIS AUDIOBOOK! I finished it in mere days. I found myself listening to it constantly, while driving, doing laundry, working out, I just HAD to know how things were going between Tara and Seth. This book was a cute premise, and I really felt the characters were genuine and unique despite the plot being cookie-cutter love story. Tara and Seth agree to go on 4 dates with one another, but they soon create additional non-dates so that they can spend the most time together before Seth moves to Paris for his new job. It seems obvious that they are falling in love and will end up together, but will they? I 10/10 recommend going on this roller coaster ride of an audiobook, you will not be disappointed! Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for a copy of this audiobook for an honest review.

Tara’s best friend is marrying Seth’s brother. They meet at the wedding when Seth is caught admiring Tara’s backside. Scandalous. They enter a game of Truth or Dare and ultimately set out on a series of 5 dates with the dare being not to fall in love before Seth relocates across the Atlantic for a job. 😲 Good luck! This was a super sweet story with immense chemistry and sexual tension. And chivalry! Seth was a good guy, despite his initial ogling.

Sincere thanks to NetGalley & St Martin’s Griffin for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

Tara is the bride’s best friend. Seth is the groom’s brother. When they meet, it’s not exactly love at first sight. But there’s an attraction there, and neither of them is looking for forever. Besides, Seth is moving to Paris in a month for a new job.

So they make a deal: four dates, and a promise not to fall in love. But it turns out, that’s the one promise they can’t keep.

The chemistry between Tara and Seth is irresistible. They’re strongly compatible from the beginning, and a friendship grows quickly between them. They’ve both been burned by love and are in denial about their feelings. So it’s a bit of a slow burn. The book is more sensual than steamy, since the intimate scenes are fade to black.

The couple is absolutely adorable together, and the plot is entertaining. It’s nice to see a romance where the couple has a strong foundation in friendship and just plain enjoy each others’ company. I also enjoyed the audiobook narration.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

The Dating Dare follows Seth and Tara, two people that have had bad luck with relationships in the past, but agree to a short term fling (the dating dare) before Seth leaves for Paris.

Full disclosure, I think this book is considered a stand-alone spin-off of book 1, A Sweet Mess, but since I didn't read book 1, this was my first interaction with these characters, which feels a little awkward, and I think reading the first book probably would've given me some better context. (i.e. seeing people regard Seth as a playboy rather than just being told that most people think he is one.)

But anyways, let's start with what I liked: Seth is fantastic. He seems all around just dreamy and wonderful, and the narrative was seamlessly split between his and Tara's narratives. I really liked the premise, and I am all for characters promising not to fall in love with one another. And the side characters, though they don't play a large role, were all fleshed out in a way that made me want to learn more about them, building a charming little small town world around the two leads.

That said though, I'm afraid I really didn't like Tara. I felt like Seth did nearly all the romantic lifting throughout the book, and their banter felt a little forced or cheesy to me. But this may have been in part due to the fact that I thought her voice in the audiobook was a little annoying. Other than that, this book doesn't pack a whole of lot of surprises. It's a cute little romance that progresses exactly how you think it would, with a satisfying ending. For this one, I think I'd recommend picking up the first book for context, and then maybe sticking to the ebook instead of the audiobook. (3.5/5 stars from me).

"Truth or Dare?" He asked.
"Dare." She could handle dares.
"...I want you to go out on four dates with me, and not fall for me."

So begins Seth and Tara's daring journey to not fall in love with one another in The Dating Dare by Jayci Lee. I dare you to not root for these two sweet people to find love together.

Tara's best friend just married Seth's brother and Tara knows all about Seth's playboy image. He photographs and dates models. When they find themselves alone a flirty game of Truth or Dare sets off a dare leading to a magnitude of emotions.

I loved the sweetness of Seth's dates including making a prom night for Tara that made me swoon. A sexy romp during a picnic and a dangerous bathtub moment led me to needing a cold shower. Fair warning there are many frustrating moments of almost giving in to their undeniable attraction but either poorly timed interruptions or public locales get in the way. Seth is a true gentleman.

The surprise for me in this adorably sweet romantic comedy was the sincerity of both of them dealing with past emotionally abusive relationships. It was a realistic touch showing how we speak to and treat others can leave a lasting effect on our life decisions.

I alternated between reading and listening to the audiobook narrated by the perfectly comedic timing of Natalie Naudus (listen to her on One Last Stop). She brought their attraction to life.

The author provided the right amount
comedy, romance, sexiness and heartfelt emotional moments. I went in knowing how it would probably end but the road there left me with a smile in my heart.

I received a free copy of this book and audiobook from the publishers via #Netgalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Tara's best friend just got married to Seth's younger brother. Neither Tara nor Seth are interested in a relationship but he cannot keep his eyes off of her. When he convinces her, on a dare, to go out with him on four dates, hilarity follows.
Opinion
I absolutely loved this book and its predecessor, A Sweet Mess. Jayci Lee has the ability to write a book that will keep you in stitches and enrapt in the plot. This book is an awesome, fun read and I certainly hope there will be more in the series.
I listened to the audiobook and loved it. The narrator did a great job of expressing what was happening in the plot with a tone that kept me quite entertained.
Many thanks to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC of this audiobook.

2.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and LibroFM for allowing me to read this eARC early! However, this was not the book for me. I have heard good things about Jayci Lee but haven't read anything by her, so I was going in relatively blind. This book is a pretty straight forward and smutty book about Tara and Seth. They meet at a wedding because her best friend is marrying his brother. He is exactly the type of guy she doesn't like-- cocky. She's been burned before and now doesn't want any part of a relationship like that. In fact she really only does short term relationships anyway. He also has been burned before so he's not looking for a relationship. So they strike up a deal that they will go on 4 dates within the month he is in town before he goes to Paris for a job and they bet each other that the other will fall in love. The story goes on as every other story like this does, infused with a lot of sexual tension. I liked that she was a brewery owner. You don't often see that in books, especially for women. I liked that he was the artist. It really turned the "typical" around and that was nice. I really did not like anything else about Tara. She was so privileged and at one point even says something to the effect of "I wanted to study wine but I didn't want to just take a tasting class so I spent the summer in Paris." Must be rough. Honestly I didn't really like either character. They weren't very deep and their past hurts seemed weak. I wouldn't recommend this book and now am much less excited to read Sweet Mess, however we do get glimpses into those characters lives and I think I may like them better. The ending of Sweet Mess is definitely spoiled in this one and I don't know if I would be on board so maybe this series just isn't for me.

Happy Pub Day to The Dating Dare!! This was my first book by Jayci Lee and I’m not sure how that happened. I will definitely need to go back and see what I missed 😊

This spicy story follows Tara and Seth as they embark on a dating dare. Go on 4 dates and don’t fall in love...sounds simple enough, right?? 😳

Tara doesn’t do relationships. She is happy focusing on developing new beers for her family’s brewery. Enter her BFF’s new brother-in-law, Seth - a gorgeous photographer with a playboy reputation. She tries to avoid the attraction, but when a tipsy game of Truth or Dare leads them to make a no-strings-attached arrangement to go on 4 dates, both parties think they’ve struck gold. Soon enough, they’re making up excuses to have “non-dates” and coming up with other reasons to spend time with each other. So what happens when feelings are caught???

⭐⭐⭐⭐ & 🌶🌶🌶🌶 so grab your copy!!

It all started with a drunken night at a wedding... Tara and Seth are smitten with each other from afar.... the night ends in a game of messy truth or dare... "I dare you to go on four dates with me and NOT fall in love". (Cause I am moving to Paris in 4 weeks... and I've been hurt before... and... and...).

Need I say more?

We all know exactly what is going to happen here, right? I sure did. While this cheesy romance was entirely predictable, overly steamy, and overtly stereotypical... I did sort of enjoy the diversion. I listened to "The Dating Dare" on audio, and it was a fast listen. Easy to have on "in the background" even if I had to run to turn it off at some of the more intense intimate moments so my husband didn't get the wrong idea.

A nice palate cleanser between more serious books, if that's what you are looking for!

I had fun reading or listening to this story with the two main characters that were Tara Park and Seth Kim. And also all the rest of the characters to.

Tara Park work with her family at her father brewery and also lives with them. She spends most of her time at the brewery. So when her friends new brother in law comes to town for his brother's wedding she is surprised how good looking he is.

Seth Kim has came to town to help his brother and also attended his wedding. This is were he meets his brother's bride and also her friend. And also make a dare. To go on 4 dates but to not fall for each other these are the rules that both come up with.

There was quite a bit of funny parts that had me laughing. I listened to the story the narrator did a good job.

I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

3.5 stars!

Seth and Tara meet at a wedding and sparks fly immediately. She’s not looking for a relationship and finds it hard to trust after a previous relationship.
Seth will be leaving the country soon for work and won’t be hanging around much longer. So after a funny game of truth or dare - in which she chooses dare - he asks for four dates that’s all, and then they can go their separate ways. Well...we can all guess how that unfold. But it was entertaining to read nonetheless.

This was a cute and sweet romantic comedy. It bordered on the cheesy side at times, but I didn’t mind it.

I was lucky enough to get the audiobook to listen to. The narrator did an amazing job capturing the emotions and the humor. No complaints.

Reviewing
The Dating Dare
By Jayci Lee

Welcome to book two in Mrs.Lee’s series! While I absolutely loved the premise of the book, 4 dates over one month before Seth leaves for Paris to pursue his fashion photography career, with only one rule....DO NOT FALL IN LOVE. Ha ha ha, we will see how well that goes! Unfortunately it was a bit heavy on the hot and steamy for me.

A quick read full of sugar and spice that makes a great beach read for mature romance lovers. The writing was clean, entertaining, and enjoyable but I never full connected with either of the characters. They were complex and interesting but i found now common ground with them. It’s was also a tied up quite nicely with a perfect setup for book three! Overall and enjoyable book but I would not recommend to younger readers or those who prefer their physical science leave something to the imagination.

3.5 stars
