Another very solid police procedural by this author. I have read most of the other books in the series, and this one is very good also.

Josie is just coming back to work after experiencing severe trauma. As can happen when you are grieving, she pushes her feelings down and carries on. Of course, this can't be sustained and a new, perplexing case really makes it difficult for her to cope. She has friends at work though and her new husband, Noah, to provide support. Even her Chief seems to be mellowing just a little bit!

The case Josie is tasked with solving concerns women who are connected to a tragic bus accident a couple of years earlier. This was a twisty plot and there are some likely suspects hidden amongst the family members who are left behind.

4.5 stars from me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture.

Josie Quinn is still dealing with the loss of her grandmother when she finds a murdered woman in the graveyard the day before she is scheduled to go back to work. The story shows how everybody deals with grief in their own way. We have Josie that still feel she could have prevented her Grandmothers murder. We have the parents of the five children that died in a school bus crash two years prior. Marriages gotten dissolved, everybody seem to have a secret and when a second parent is murdered it seems more possible that we have a connection to the bus crash. This is a fast read, lot of twist and I don’t think you will guess the ending.
Lisa Regan did again a superb job on the story and I’m already looking out for Book 13 in this series.

Her Deadly Touch by Lisa Regan is the 12th book in the Detective Josie Quinn mystery series, and another great addition. Wow this book grabbed me from the very first page, and kept me going. This book has more twists and turns, that kept me reading page after page. Just when I thought I was on the right track, I realize I wasn't. I found this book to be a quick read, with a well developed plot and characters. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. If you love mysteries like I do, than I strongly recommend this book/ series. I have read every book in this series, Ms. Regan has me hooked.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Five children died when their school bus, driven by a man who had been drinking and taking drugs, crashes the bus.

Detective Josie Quinn has been on bereavement leave for several months after her beloved grandmother was shot and killed. Still reeling from her death, and blaming herself, she's been under the care of a therapist.

She's one day away to return to work when she hears a scream. What she finds is a woman who has been missing for several days. She was the mother of one of the five children who were killed in the bus crash.

She begins her investigation by looking at the support group made up of the parents who had lost their children in the same accident as her child. Twp years after the fact, and the parents are still grieving.. still angry at the bus driver, now in jail and waiting for his court date.

And than another mother is found near the site of the bus crash. Someone connected to the accident is out for revenge. Will the remaining parents be picked off one at a time until they are all dead?

Extremely well-written, the suspense starts on the first page and maintains a high level thought out until the final unexpected conclusion. Characters are solidly drawn, warts and all. Seems like everyone has a secret related to the bus crash. Josie and her team will work hard to bring those secrets out and expose them to the light. It's a police procedural of the highest caliber. Although 12th in the series, this is easily read as a stand alone. However, this has been a super series and i would recommend reading in order. Each of this author's books are better than the last ... and that' s saying a lot.

Many thanks to the author / Bookouture / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction/police procedural. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Detective Josie Quinn is one day away from going back to work after a four-month suspension. In truth, she experienced a major trauma and the suspension was actually a kindness as Josie needed time to deal with a devastating loss. She is heading to her deceased husband Ray's grave, a place that actually calms her. Meanwhile, Josie is recently married to Noah Fraley and the time she has spent away from work has been helping to heal her.

A woman comes running to Josie at the gravesite. She begs Josie to help a woman there. Sadly, the woman is dead, a clear case of murder. Josie recognizes the murdered woman. She had been missing for several days. There is an immediate tie-in to the woman and to a two-year-old horrific bus accident that took the life of several students. Why now, two years later?

Josie and the other detectives are forced to interview the parents of the deceased children. Each of them seems a bit off, holding secrets that must be revealed before another life is lost. Something is going on and it soon appears that revenge is the motive. Can Josie deal with now being back at work while still coping with the loss she herself experienced and keep everything together?

Her Deadly Touch is another thrilling - albeit heartbreaking at times - story in the terrific Detective Josie Quinn series. I have loved this series since the third title, and the stories get better and better. I love seeing Josie on both a personal and professional level, including seeing her far she has come with her relationship with Noah, especially now that they are married. I am very much looking forward to the next book in this exciting series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

I am delighted to be catching up with the latest happenings in this great series featuring Detective Josie Quinn, written by Lisa Regan.

In this twelfth instalment, Josie is seeing a therapist, Dr Paige Rosetti following a suspension from the Denton PD, Central Pennsylvania. She is due to go back to work very soon and decides to visit the cemetery where her first husband, Ray is buried. Josie and her new husband, Noah have been following the case of missing thirty-two-year-old legal secretary, Krystal Duncan on the television, watching news reports and broadcasts. At the cemetery, she parks near Ray's headstone, trying to capture the peace of her surroundings, but then hears screaming. Dee Tenney is screaming next to Krystal, dead beside the grave of her daughter, Bianca Duncan who was killed in a school bus crash. Krystal's eyes are lifeless and her lips are sealed together with wax.

Although I dived into this series at book nine, there was enough backstory to really enjoy this novel, Her Deadly Touch. It was a captivating, briskly-paced police procedural with more than enough action taking place to retain my interest. Once hooked, I was glued to the pages and it was a ride of surprises. With its stylish and tense plot, this is crime thriller was an intriguing and emotional mixing of Josie's personal and professional lives. The story effortlessly flowed and there was never a dull moment as the plot beelined for the finale. Josie makes a tough, determined and admirable protagonist and I thoroughly enjoyed my time with her. Her Deadly Touch contains drama, suspense and tension by the shedload and I highly recommend this immersive novel which will delight all readers, both series stalwarts and new readers. I am eagerly anticipating what Lisa Regan has in store for Josie Quinn next!

Lisa Regan can spin a great story! Her Deadly Touch is another fine addition to the Josie Quinn series. I have read all of the series and they are consistently excellent.

Josie is still very much mourning the loss of her beloved grandmother when she is thrown back into the case of a young mother found dead in the local cemetary. Krystal Duncan is found dead kneeling at the grave of her daughter. Her daughter was one of 5 children killed in a bus crash 2 years previously. It soon transpires that the killer is targetting the parents of the dead children. No possible motive is apparent. It's then a race against time to find a brutal, vindictive killer before he strikes again. I highly recommend this book. Thank you NetGalley for my advance copy.

Lisa Regan's books are always gripping and highly entertaining but this one is the best I read so far.
It's poignant, heartbreaking at time, full of twists and turns.
It's a mystery but also a book about grief and how it can break a person and the difficult path to move on.
There's a tragedy, there are killings and secrets, lot of secrets.
Berne, the father of the transactional analysis, wrote that any "if only" thought is a way to be unhappy. This story contains a lot of "if only/what if", tragedy, unhappiness, misinterpretations.
Ms Regan is a talented storyteller and the plot and character development are excellent.
Josie is frailer and stronger at the same time, I was happy to read about the team working together and I appreciated the empathy toward all the victims.
An excellent read, highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This book begins where Hush Little Girl ended. Josie has been on leave from her job but. Whilst visiting Ray’s grave, she finds a woman in shock, the woman has discovered the body of woman poses kneeling at a gravestone. Krystal Duncan, the dead woman, is the mother of one of five children killed in a bus accident which devastated Denton.

What a way to jump back into work! Josie and her team begin investigating and are lead to a support group for the parents of the children who died. Trying to unravel who would want to kill a grieving mother, they soon discover another body! There’s lots to unravel, many secrets waiting to be revealed…

It’s a wild ride with lots of twists and turns, and a little bit of a heartbreak. Lisa has done it again! In this book we see Josie dealing with her own grief as well as the victim’s families grief. Throughout this book she is supported be her husband, friends, family, and coworkers. But Josie is a dedicated detective, and singleminded when hunting a killer. There’s a lot of grief in this book, everyone is grieving a loss and trying to cope with life afterward. That’s the heartbreak bit I mentioned before. Josie is such a complex character and with every book we learn a little more about Josie.
Most of the books in this series can be read as stand-alone books but I don’t recommend it, especially this book because it picks up where book #11 leaves off. It was fun to have the team back together again and follow them on this ride, playinf detective and trying to figure out the clues for myself. I was surprised by the whodunit though!

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Her Deadly Touch by Lisa Regan
Detective Josie Quinn #12

Grief’s impact is not the same for everyone. This story deals with a number of people experiencing grief and how they are coping…or perhaps are not coping so very well…and one who has decided to kill rather than process through emotions in the normal way. Included in those grieving is Josie and four months has not chipped the ice away as she begins to work again.

What I liked:
* Josie: smart, complex, backstory told in previous books sounded horrific, twin, newlywed, first husband dead, detective, intriguing
* Noah: Josie’s husband, police lieutenant, has suffered loss, loves and understands Josie, is there for Josie and the team, perfect for Josie.
* Trout: dog of Josie and Noah – a good boy
* The various members of the police team, getting to see them again, and watching them solve this case together. They are there for Josie and for one another.
* The police procedural aspects of the story
* The premise for the story – though sad – and how it played out
* The writing
* How the story was paced, and tidbits eked out
* The secrets that came out – not nice but pertinent to the story
* That the serial killer was eventually found and taken in
* The new chief…may be growing on me
* How Josie, toward the end, began to work through the loss of her grandmother
* Knowing there is another book to look forward to

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* The loss of the lives of innocent children
* The warped thinking and actions of the killer

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in the series? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.

4-5 Stars

Thank you to Bookouture for my copy of this book via NetGalley and for letting me take part in this tour. This is the 12th book in the Josie Quinn series but all books can be read as standalones. I would however recommend you read at least book 11 before this one as there are some personal aspects that carry over into this book. This book is set 4 months after book 11.

Josie Quinn is one of my favourite detectives. She was one of the first crime series I started reading back in 2018. Josie has grown a lot over the years but she is still one kick-ass detective. If I needed a case solving Josie and her team would be top of my list. I liked that we got to see more of the person behind the detective in this book. I won’t give any spoilers for those who haven’t read all the books but Josie is going through a lot right now and I thought it was good that we saw how she felt about it.

The case of Krystal Duncan and the bus crash victims was such a sad one. I was hooked from the very first chapter. As usual, Lisa had me turning page after page needing to know what was going to happen next. I didn’t guess who the killer was but I really should have. It was obvious once it was revealed.

This was a great story full of secrets and lies. Lisa drip feeds you just enough to make you want to read one more chapter until before you realise it you have finished the book. I can’t wait to read the next one!

It was the day before Detective Josie Quinn was due back to work after a four month break and a trauma she didn’t think she’d ever recover from. At the local cemetery Josie heard a wild scream – the woman who had been missing for a few days had been found and the distraught and screaming young woman who had found her knew Krystal Duncan. With pink skin she looked alive, but the wax on her lips and the staring eyes told Josie it was too late. Josie was thrust back into work as she called her colleagues to attend…

Two years prior a drunk and drugged bus driver had killed five students on their way home from school as the bus crashed and rolled. He was now awaiting trial and the trauma the parents were feeling made their loss fresh once again. And as Josie and her team investigated the death of Krystal Duncan, who was a parent of one of those children as well as a member of the support group, horrifying facts were beginning to come together. When a second mother went missing and was found near the site of the bus crash, it was obvious someone was avenging the victims. But why? Did those parents hold secrets they didn’t want known? As Josie, Gretchen, Noah and Mett raced against the clock to keep those left alive, Josie’s own grief intruded at the most inopportune times.

Her Deadly Touch is the 12th in the Detective Josie Quinn series by Lisa Regan and once again I loved it! This author can do no wrong with this series in my humble opinion. The scenario was different this time, but no less captivating. The intense suspense, the gritty intrigue – all combined to create a chilling thriller which I highly recommend. And I’m looking forward to #13 already 😊

With thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Her Deadly Touch by Lisa Regan continues Josie Quinn's personal odyssey. It is now four month after her wedding to Noah Fraley, fellow detective, and her grandmother's death. Jose has been on leave, trying to cope, but things are really no better. She still wakes from nightmares; she still blames herself. A bizarre murder has happened, and of course, Josie find the body. At the cemetery. Kneeling at the grave of her dead daughter. With wax poured into her moth and down her throat. He daughter had been killed in a school bus crash. Is the murder related?

Not only is this a good mystery/police procedural, it is Josie's personal growth, which is stupendous. Her life has been challenging. The fact she functions, at all, is somewhat of a miracle. Josie is a dedicated police officer. She is well-liked by her colleagues. She is a real person with more than her share of problems. She puts one's life into perspective in an intriguing and honest way. If, along the way she meets some bizarre murderers, so be it. A terrific book and series. I recommend it.

I was invited to read a free e-ARC of Her Deadly Touch by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #netgalley #herdeadlytouch

Loved this. Number 12 in the series and although Josie is still suffering the fallout of her loss this book is definitely more focused on the main plot than the sub plot. That said there’s still lots of development in the subplot. The main plot opens with the discovery of a young woman’s body in a graveyard and we soon are transported back to a horrific accident that left school children dead. Brilliant glimpses, from the children’s point of view, of the lead up to tragedy introduce us to a tangled web of deceit and intrigue and as the bodies mount up it’s a race against time for Josie and her team to prevent more deaths and solve the case, in a case that can have no winners

I really like how this series has shown many sides of Josie. She’s been smart, tough, and resilient, but this outing she’s vulnerable after the death of her grandmother. I liked that we had a case focusing on grief when Josie is still grieving. That connection made the story stronger.

The author makes the cases seem real. From the evidence, to the autopsy, to the witnesses and suspects. There is a great cast of characters in the book to make them feel authentic. And there is so much support for Josie as she tries to make her way back to her new normal.

The author is always so good at disguising the murderer and it seems I never follow the clues to the correct suspect. Kudos for that because I usually know long before the end of a book.

These books can be read as stand alone books, but I think because of the character development, they are more enjoyable in order.

Her Deadly Touch is the twelfth instalment in the Detective Josie Quinn series, and it still shows no signs of flagging. Josie is relieved to be back at work after a period of enforced leave giving her the time to grief after the sad passing of her grandmother months earlier. Her first case back after 4 months is one related to a local tragedy that occurred two years ago—a terrifying road traffic accident. The school bus had been winding its way around town when it collided with a tree at high speed, killing five of the young high school students aboard. The bus driver, Virgil Lesko, and one of the student passengers, Heidi, managed to survive their ordeal, and although this was a blessing in itself, what made the accident even more tragic was that the six youngsters who had died, had all been due to alight the bus at the next stop as it was the final stop on that particular route. For such a small town and tight-knit community, it broke everyone and the people remained in mourning for quite some time; it was an incident they would never forget. Meanwhile, back in the present day, Dee Tenney, the unfortunate mother to one of the deceased, is visiting the cemetery when she discovers the body of another of the mothers, Krystal Duncan.

She is found kneeling in an odd position, her mouth full of wax and in close proximity to her daughter Bianca’s grave. Denton PD certainly agree that it is a bizarre scene and begin their investigation into what happened. But the clues and leads are few and far between making it difficult. Then Faye Palazzo, yet another of the crash victims’ mothers vanishes. Can the police work out why those related to the bus incident are being targeted, and why? This is another scintillating addition to a brilliant series written by a bestselling crime writer who knows exactly how to provide the thrills and chills the reader desires. It makes for absorbing reading and the case is a complex one full of sabotage but the team's banter offsets the dark plot. The action never stops, there are no dull moments throughout and I admit I was flying rapidly through the pages. There are twists and turns aplenty and the plot is dramatic, intense and exciting, add to that characters who are exceptionally painted and you've got yourself a superb procedural. This will undoubtedly have long-time fans riveted but will also appeal to new readers too. A totally engrossing and compulsively readable story, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Another one-sitting read from Regan. These books keep getting better and better. A strong plot based around a school bus tragedy, which marries with Quinn's emotional trauma and grief at the loss of her grandmother. Clever. Insightful. Emotional.

Her Deadly Touch
Lisa Regan
August 12, 2021

Detective Josie Quinn is just coming off a 4 month leave from the sheriff's department. Her last case was a tough one and didn’t end the way she would have liked. She attempted to put closure on it and the chief did not agree. He felt she needed therapy and time off. In fact, he gave her both. She was disgruntled but as it turns out she spent more time with her new husband, Noah and time in the garden as well as trying hard to gain peace of mind. Denton, PA stayed the same. Things happened, the police took care of most of it and that was that. On her way home from seeing her therapist, she cranked up the radio and the AC in her car. She was cleared to return to work. Josie found herself driving to the cemetery where her x-husband was buried. It was a place where she could talk, he would listen, something he didn’t do much of before. Somehow it helped. Standing, enjoying the breeze and solitude she heard screaming. Turning toward the loud voice she found a woman glaring at a tombstone. A woman was kneeling in front of the grave. She was still, inhuman but her face was pink as if she was alive. Josie recognized the ghost-like figure. It was Krystal Duncan. She recognized the face from the local news the night before. Krystal was missing, had not returned to work for three days. Behind the statue-like figure Josie read the words on the stone, Bianca Duncan, Beloved Daughter. She was one of the five students killed in a bus accident two years prior.
Regan’s Jose Quinn series with the 12th book, Her Deadly Touch explores more about the horrific bus accident where children were killed returning home from school. The driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. The parents of the students have not gotten past the loss of their children.
Fans of the Josie Quinn stories will be delighted with the publishing of this latest in the series. It will be on the shelves tomorrow, August 12, 2021 published by Bookouture. I appreciate their allowing me to read and review Lisa Regan’s latest work. I have read some but not all of the series and have found them to be very good suspense. Her novels do overlap some but are readable out of sequence. This is an excellent mystery. As an avid reader of suspense I am always pleased with not being able to solve the puzzle ahead of time. It’s an excellent choice, do enjoy!
