With all of the expectation for this book post Neon Gods, I’m happy to say it didn’t disappoint. I wouldn’t say that I enjoyed it as intensely as I did Neon Gods, but that’s in part because it’s less insta-love vibes and more of a slow-burn and I wasn’t prepared for that. There’s more that I’ll touch on shortly, but also to keep in mind that I read the ARC rather than the completed book. The romance felt a touch fluffy and sweet rather than dark and brooding. None of that is to say it’s not still a fantastic read - because it certainly is! I think we’re going to continue to be impressed and appreciative for this series as it continues.

The plot was good leading up to the conflict. It inevitably left me wanting a bit more. I wish there had been further content regarding the actual conflict, but I’ll leave it at that to avoid spoilers.

The build-up for Eros and Psyche was slow, but when it got there? Whew. If you’ve read any of Robert’s works you know that she doesn’t miss when it comes to writing about sex, tension, or anything of the sort. This was hot! I loved the plus-size representation and how it was clear that though Psyche had her insecurities, her confidence shined through. Not to mention Eros absolutely worshipped Psyche. He’s quite the generous lover and that’s something we can all appreciate.

As always - Robert also doesn’t miss when it comes to queer rep and sex positivity. Both of which draw me to her work time and time again. Having read a great deal of her books, I’ve started to notice the patterns in her writing when it comes to her series. I’ve also noticed the evolution of her writing as a whole and I’m excited to feel a part of that journey as a lowly spectator.

Thanks NetGalley for an ARC of this book!
Y'all....This book is soo good! I couldn't put it down. I devoured it . It's just pure fire! The perfect amount of plot and smuttyness. The writing style of this author is fun and really well done. I'm a sucker for retellings especially when you throw in a good story line and romance, so this was right up my alley. I loved the first book, Neon Gods, so when this one came out, I knew I HAD to have it! And let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. If y'all like a book with a little bit of a story line, little bit romance, and a whole lot of sex, then this book is for you!

As a fan of “monsters” this book really caught me early and kept me invested. Morally grey characters have the ability to feel so much more interesting than good ones for me. If you’re a fan of enemies to lovers, fake dating, or just a sexy budding romance you won’t be disappointed with this story. I felt myself rooting for both Psyche and Eros early on and pretty equally, which doesn’t always happen for me. I went into this story a little afraid I wouldn’t care for them as much as Hades and Persephone but found myself interested in their story and wrapped up in this cute inner thoughts about each other. Plus, if you were a fan of Neon Gods you get snippets of old friends. I just love that for some reason, even if it doesn’t add to the original story lines at all. Cute, sexy, fun story with a little danger.

A hot and steamy retelling of Eros and Psyche from the author of Neon Gods. Eros is Aphrodite’s knife in the dark, an assassin with seemingly no conscience, Psyche is the one person who’s shown him kindness without prejudice; and also the person he’s been sent to kill…

Dum dum dummmmmm

TW: murder, scheming

Okay. I LOVED THIS BOOK. Let me get that out of the way first and foremost. I thought I loved Neon Gods, nay nay, much as I adored Hades, this morally grey Eros, he’s my man. Although this is definitely a romance/erotica at its heart, I really did enjoy the story in both books as well. The machinations of the thirteen are always so interesting and the way the author has taken classic myths and modernized and retold them in these books is really refreshing.

In this book especially I felt that Eros and Psyche were written with a lot more depth of character and I feel that a lot of women would relate to Psyche in many ways, especially her championing of body positivity and the talk of the struggles to find well tailored plus sized clothing. It was really refreshing in erotic fiction to see this kind of representation, and it doesn’t stop at body positivity. Almost every character in this book is bisexual and some are non binary. The LGBTQ+ rep is throughout the book in a really natural way, and I love how it doesn’t feel forced like the “one gay friend” thing that sometimes happens.

Overall. An awesome read. If you’re looking for something spicy this might be the book for you 🌶

Electric Idol, similar to the first book Neon Gods, was sexy and intriguing. I spent hours unable to put this down, the plot complicated enough to be interesting but not so much as to be confusing. The lore behind Electric Idol, the ideas and relationships based around the Greek myths, was interesting to read but altogether a bit disappointing. Though this might just be because I know these mythologies so well that seeing in them in a modern context without the complexities of life in Ancient Greece is a bit jarring. All-in-all, this book was well written and I would recommend reading it.

I loved this book. I actually liked it better than the first one, which was surprising to me because I love Hades/Persephone's myth better. However, the way Eros and Psyche are represented in this novel takes a different take than just a girl who can't keep her curiosity in check. Rather Eros actually sees himself as a monster and it is Psyche who enlightens him to redemption in his own eyes, By flipping the usual theme of the story I feel that the author gives it a breath of fresh air.

I started and finished this steamy return to Olympus in half a day. Katee Roberts has given us an excellent take on enemies turned lovers that I simply could not put down. Aphrodite has turned her sights on Psyche, the beautiful middle daughter of Demeter, but it's not a love match the Goddess wants. She wants Psyche dead and it seems the only person who can protect her is the man sent to kill her. Readers of Neon Gods will not be disappointed!

Oh my goodness! Dark Olympus series is getting so much hotter at each book! When I read the first book, I couldn’t put it down the stimulating, blasting, sexy, fiery story of Persephone and Hades! I thought the second book may not satisfy my expectations but now I’m taking my words back because Psych and Eros’ palpable chemistry ten times more explosive than dynamites!

A killer, cruel, vicious hero who is fated to become his mother’s right hand that holds the dagger to finish the massacres and a ultra smart, curvy, cunning, strategist, influencer, practical heroine agree for fake marriage unless poor heroine want her heart ripped out by cold blooded hero who obeys his mother Aphrodite’s wishes!

We return back to ultra modern version of Olympus to continue the story where it’s left, focusing on Psyche who is forced to marry with Zeus unwillingly for being next Hera!

The last party she attends ends with being busted by paparazzis when she leaves the restrooms accompanied by notorious Eros. Actually she doesn’t have any bad intention to stuck in this place with her mother Demeter’s archenemy Aphrodite’s killer son! But when she sees him hurt, covered in blood, only thing she wants is patching him up. Of course being in the vicinity of his killer body makes her cough! This man is smoking hot! And she’s not immune to his seductive manners.

But she’s caught by the press. Aphrodite’s solution to fix their tarnished reputation is killing Psyche. Correction: ordering Eros to kill her!

But Eros cannot finish the job for the first time. He wants to possess this smart, tempting, cunning beauty! He’s gonna make her his by asking her to marry him. If they get marry sooner he can provide his full protection.

Psyche has no other choice: she doesn’t only think her own life, she also thinks her sisters’ well beings because Aphrodite can strike against them to avenge their mother.

But as you may imagine, the mutual attraction, flying sparks put their bed on fire! They’re created for each other! The steamy scenes between them are smoking hot!

I loved their story more! Especially the final chapters about political maneuvers and balances, power games in Olympus are perfectly depicted.

I enjoyed to read about a heroine who is not only pretty face but also carries an ultra big brain to survive at the political jungle by forming intelligent strategies.

I think the third book will be about Callisto and Zeus! From the beginning of the series: Callisto picked my interest as fiery, bold, unique character reminded me of Katherina character from Shakespeare’s “ Taming of shrew”
Those books are growing on me! I cannot wait to read the next one!

I gave Persephone and Hades’ story five stars.
If I had a chance, I would give Psyche and Eros’ story to five and half stars! It’s so hooking, engaging, tempting, hot, irresistible!

I highly recommend it to the genre lovers! It’s freaking AMAZING!

Special thanks to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for sharing this digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.

Ms Roberts has the created a whole new world where the Olympics is not a world for the week. Gods and Goddess title are awarded by blood or a vote but all is not bright and beautiful under current run deep and When Aphrodite decide that Demeter has no right to make a power play and try to make one of her daughter the next Helen. She sends her son Eros to bring her the heart of psyche Demeter daughter. I was hooked from the first book last year and this book did not disappointed. Who Know becoming part of the glitter world of Olympics could be so deadly.

This book is so fun. I always love a twist on Greek mythology especially when it involves romance. Eros and Psyche are sexy and a fantastic couple. This is a great second book following Neon Gods and I will be desperately waiting for the next installment.

CW: toxic parental relationship, emotional abuse, fat shaming, guns/violence

Electric Idol was a sexy and entertaining marriage of convenience romance based loosely on the Psyche and Eros myth. I love the world that Katee Robert is building in her Dark Olympus series. Electric Idol was more emotional than I anticipated and my heart hurt so much for Eros. I’m not usually a fan of instalove/lust, but Eros won me over with how absolutely all in he was for Psyche. They both usually have to keep their true selves hidden to survive, so it was so beautiful to see them open up to each other and be vulnerable. Their sexy times were scorching hot, but also so wonderfully intimate. I don’t think I’ve ever found the words “husband” or “wife” so sexy. The story has lots of action to keep things moving and secondary characters like Helen, Perseus/Zeus, Hermes, and Callisto have me excited to see what’s next.

*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book*

Holy... I loved NEON GODS so going into this one I was a bit hesitant but... I was blown away. Seriously. This was so hot and steamy.. and Eros and Psyche are such a swoony couple that its hard not to love them.

I was over the moon when I was given this ARC to review. This was my next most anticipated book by Katee Robert and she did not disappoint.

Electric Idol follows Psyche and Eros and their fake marriage. I am a sucker for the fake marriage trope. Readers get more of a glimpse into the politics within Olympus where the only way to make sure Psyche is safe is to marry her. No one would kill family, right?

I really enjoyed Eros point of view. His back and forth with himself and his morals was interesting to read about. How he started out this cold blooded murderer and became someone worthy of love. I really enjoyed his mind and how he felt about Psyche. It was also fun to read about Psyche after learning about her in Neon Gods. She was always there for her sisters but we got to learn more about how loyal and amazing she is. It was fun to read about her influencer persona and how she played the game well politically.

This book was spicy, fun and full of suspense on what would happen next. I’m honestly really excited for the next book if it is about Callisto.

This was a quick, fast read which is just what you need sometimes. I liked Psyche quite a bit as a character as well! It was great that you also got to see a bit of Persephone and Hades from the first book.

Katee Robert has done it again in her Dark Olympus series! I never thought I could love a book as much as Neon Gods, yet here we are.

Psyche was such a refreshing character to see. Having plus-size representation is always amazing, and she always handled herself with grace and cleverness. It only makes sense such a smart and kind woman could have the vicious Eros wrapped around her finger.

I enjoyed Eros’s POV immensely, seeing him struggle with his feelings towards Psyche and his loyalty to his mother was so interesting. His background was heartbreaking, but it helped the readers learn why he came out the way he did - a monster with a conscience.

Seeing more of the Dimitrou dynamics was also fascinating. We got to see a softer side of Demeter than we did in Neon Gods, and we got to understand more about Callisto, who I cannot wait to learn more about!

This book kept me interested all the way through, and I need the third one like yesterday!

Yeah, Katee robert is officially my queen of smut and I loved this book so much, possibly more than neon gods (it's not quite as smutty as neon gods but I still loved it).

Utterly love the big-bad-monster who's never felt love before sees the sweet, sexy, kind girl and decides to do anything to protect her trope (arranged marriage! Mirror sex! Does everything he can to protect her! Matches the wedding ceremony to her wedding dress without her knowing!)

Eros and Psyche are just *chefs kiss* and I can't wait to read whoever is next!

Thankyou to Netgalley and Sourcebooks for the arc, you've made my entire year (and current lockdown) infinitely better 🥰

Got an eArc by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*****

This author does it again! On the same universe as Neon Gods we now have a sexy retelling of Psyche and Eros. As far an accurate retelling set in a modern setting this was really loosely inspired on them, but I really don’t care! It was sexy and fun and such a fast read. Katee Robert books are slowly and surely making a way in a top read of the year. She writes such a compelling romance that is hard to dislike any of the characters in here. Do yourself a favor and preorder this one.

This installment to Robert's newest series was decidedly less steamy than the first, but I feel as if I was more interested in the plot of this one than to the previous one. This one is another winner for sure.

4.5 stars

I am so ridiculously happy that I received this ARC, I love everything Katee does pretty much and I adored Neon Gods so when I got this ARC i dropped everything to start it.

Eros is Aphrodite’s clean up crew, she is conniving and manipulative and sends her son out to kill her enemies. He thinks himself to be a horrible irredeemable monster because of this. At one of the Olympus parties, Psyche sees Eros coming in late to a party and he’s hurt from an errand his mother sent him on. She doesn’t really know him well, but she wants to help and takes him aside to help tend to his wounds. This one act of kindness is so offside to Eros that he’s immediately pretty obsessed with Psyche. When Aphrodite wants Eros to eliminate psyche as a threat, he can’t do it. So he talks her into marrying him to protect her.

These two. I loved them. Eros was sooo obsessed with psyche yet insecure with himself- he doesn’t believe someone as amazing as psyche could love him, but his heart is thawing to her and he can’t stop. I liked their scheming to solve their problems and i loved their dynamic. The smut was amazing as usual, bc it’s Katee. Also, psyche is a plus size heroine! It’s mentioned many times and eros worships her every time she or anyone tries to make any type of comment about it. Lots of praise kink kind of because eros can’t stop complimenting her. A great sequel! (3.5 spice level)

Reviewer note; since this ARC is so early I’m not going to post TikToks about it until closer to release! But it’ll 100% be done then
