I was super excited to read this second installment of the Dark Olympus series. The beautiful and monstrous Eros and his lady love Psyche. It was great to be back in the land of Olympus and this intriguing world the author has created. The blend of world-building , character growth, and plot development was just as satisfying as in the first book in this series, Neon Gods. Lots of heat and an epilogue that made me smile big. Can't wait to see what romantic shenanigans future installments contain.

HOLY WOW. This book is incredible. I thought Neon Gods was fun, but predictable because there's a ton of Hades x Persephone stories happening right now. Electric Idol, though, was INCREDIBLE.

The I was sent to kill you but I can't do it so I'm marrying you to protect you story was EVERYTHING. It was so inspiring to see a main character like Psyche who was stunningly beautiful and extraordinarily badass. She's not afraid of who she is and seeing a plus size heroine like Psyche was everything I needed to see. And then there's Eros, beautiful, sexy Eros. Honestly, he was such a refreshing love interest that I want more of him!

Okay and the spice. Top. Notch. Katee Robert has this talent for writing smut, and I mean that in the best way. It's equal parts spicy and intimate, and all the talk of consent is exactly what we need to be seeing in the romance community.

Suffice it to say, Katee Robert has become an auto-buy author for me and I NEED the next books!!!

Y’all.
I think I loved this even more than Neon Gods, and that says SO MUCH, because I adored that one.
But this?
Eros has stolen my whole heart, and I honestly don’t think I’ll be getting it back anytime soon.
I also gotta give KR a HUGE round of applause, because Psyche really did give me a realistic portrayal of a plus size girl, and I appreciated that so much, especially since I’m plus size myself. I saw my own struggles, but also my own triumphs and I felt right at home.
In the midst of all of these feelings, the other thing that featured predominantly was the found family aspect, and that has me in a chokehold on a regular day, but it was so good to see it here in as many forms as it featured.

Anyone who knows me, knows that the myth of Cupid and Psyche is my favorite myth. I was HERE for this book, knowing they are the main characters. And after loving Neon Gods, I was even more excited.

Though, I am just a little disappointed, I won't lie.

In the myth, Psyche is so beautiful that Aphrodite wants her dead. In this book, it is mentioned (more than once) that she is nothin special, and that people don't think she's attractive. Which is fine, I know that the author has the liberty to make changes to the source material, but it felt weird. Making jabs at her appearance, that she "isn't much to look at," and fat-shaming Psyche rubbed me the wrong way.

I did enjoy the rest of the book, though it is not nearly as steamy as I had expected after reading 8 or 9 other Katee Robert books.

Absolutely incredible! I could not put this one down. I had to refresh myself in the Eros/Psyche myth, but it was such a fun spin on it—and that ending! Can’t wait to see what’s next. In the meantime, I’ll be rereading everything Katee has written.

I love mythological retellings especially Greek ones and when I read neon gods the first book I was so excited when I found out that they were going to be more. I love Hades so much so first book was everything I needed. And this book was another great one and I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy

Though I found this story to be pretty average, I had fun reading it! I don't know much about Greek mythology so I can't speak to the mythological accuracy of the book, however I really enjoyed this retelling; my lack of knowledge probably brought me into the book with lower expectations, which might have made the story more enjoyable for me.

I did think the writing quality was very average--a lot of telling, not showing, and a lot of repetition of certain phrases (take a shot every time Roberts said "in the extreme") which made the story less enjoyable.

I read this in conjunction with he audiobook, and I really enjoyed the narration. I would definitely say I enjoyed the story more when I was listening to it rather than just reading the ebook, which is a testament to how good the narrators were. They both had British accents, and spoke really cleanly with dictation that was good voice acting without getting gratuitous which was great!

Overall, the book was pretty average, but if you enjoy Greek mythology you might really like this one!!

I am not new to Katee Robert but I was new to this theme. I really enjoyed it. I cant put into words what I was thinking the book was about but I was thinking Greek mythology, w/ Psyche and Eros. But Katee def gave us her brand of steam and erotic everything! So good.

I am loving this series! Eros and Psyche are an unexpected pairing that sizzles with chemistry. Those mothers though! I thought Hades and Persephone had big problems but yikes! This sexy romance has plenty of tension and angst. There's humor and oh wow moments. The characters are interesting and there are some you will love to hate. These sisters keep things interesting and I can't wait for Callisto! And who doesn't want more Hermes?

I definitely recommend this series if you enjoy fun, paranormal romance that excites without being too silly. This world the author has created is so unusual and very refreshing. I had heard that she writes unspeakably hot romance but this modern take on Olympus and its assorted Gods and Goddesses complete with social media is truly unique and extremely difficult to put down !
This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

💗 ELECTRIC IDOL 💗 Oh, OH buddy. This book has made me question everything that I know in life. It's been a rough few days and I've fallen deep into the pit of my soul for self-excavation. But it's okay. We have emerged. We are okay saying it... 🗣 EROS IS HOTTER THAN HADES, WHICH MEANS I HAVE CHOSEN A BLONDE MAN OVER THE GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD. I know, I know. Gather your jaws from the floor.

★️ Fear not, Hades will always be my A1-day-one. However, when it comes to the Katee Roberts universe, Eros > Hades. I said it. Don't even come for me. Don't worry about it. Trust mama here, okay?! The first time we meet Eros he's fresh off of murdering someone and covered in not-his-own-blood. Book readers, you get it. To my therapist, keep scrolling.

★ PSYCHE, YOU GLORIOUS BITCH. I love her. Mommy? Mommy. Mommy? Mommy. Psyche, for me, is a female character who really hits the mark between wanting to be kind and trusting but absolutely isn't a fool. She's smart, witty, and keeps our boy Eros on his toes. Something else that is important to note: the plus-sized representation for Psyche was fantastic. Relatable, not-canned, and overall, incredibly well done (as a curvy lady, it has my stamp of approval).

★ Let's talk about two things: the plot and the smut. The plot kept me intrigued enough that even though you had a pretty good idea where it was going, you didn't know how it would get there. Which is exactly what I want when I'm picking up a book like this. And BUUDDDDDYYYY. When these two finally come together, it's a one-handed read. Bye. I'm out.

I was very interested in Psyche's story from the last book and I was not disappointed. Eros is for sure the type of person you want to hate but tends to have a soft spot for once you learn more about him. I love a curvy women MC - Psyche is confident and used to the hate-based on her body only. she is seen as a sweet influencer but she is a shark in her own right.

Eros has some serious mama issues but we love him anyway.
Love the incorporation of the Greek God with a good story behind it. The sex in these stories is amazing and the character's developments are deep.

I will keep my eye open for more books. Awesome!

Katee Robert does it again with Electric Idol. She continues her new take on Greek mythology and the Greek gods bringing it to the modern world. This romance will have you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. There’s an unexpected coupling that Katee throws in there that I wish would be the next book in the series but alas that doesn’t seem to be in the cards.

Psyche and Eros!!! So I absolutely adored Neon Gods and I loved this one even more! With the politics and power plays, Katee Roberts' modern Olympus is the perfect backdrop for Psyche and Eros to explore their mutual attraction through their marriage of convenience and the danger lurking around every corner. Psyche is a plus-sized social media influencer who has mastered her mask in order in order to fit into the game of Olympus and I am 100% here for her energy regarding body positivity and body neutrality! As a morally grey character, who falls more on the dark side since his mother uses him for all of her dirty work, Eros has a lot of inner work and unpacking to do to see himself as worthy of being a good person. I love this world Katee Roberts has created and look forward to purchasing a print copy for myself!

I liked this book a little more than book 1, so if you didn’t *love* Neon Gods, then you should give this one a try. Overall it’s well written and I think the characters had a decent amount of character development. It was a little too much spice for me, but I can see why other readers would love this one!

Another Top Read from this amazing author! This was one of my most anticipated reads of 2022 and I'm happy to report that it was well worth the wait!

Katee Roberts has taken mythology retellings to new heights in this thrilling romance. I simply could not get enough of these amazing characters. After devouring this entire story in one sitting, I wanted to rage at myself because it was over, and I missed the characters I'd grown to love so strongly in such a short amount of time.

While murder plots, social climbing, and underhanded dealings abound in this exciting and sexy fake relationship romance, where this author truly excels is weaving together stories that are as inclusive as they are entertaining. It is so refreshing to see characters of all colors, shapes, and ethnicities create these vivid worlds that Katee Roberts creates. For that reason alone, she has a new lifetime fan. However, it certainly doesn't hurt that Eros and Psyche are fan-freaking-tastic!

I loved everything about this book. If fake relationships and enemies to lovers are your thing, you'll love it too. Highly recommended!

Sexy. Dangerous. Sweet. Electric Idol is an amazing book that anyone who enjoys romance, enemies to lovers and Greek mythology retellings will surely love!

I recently read Neon Gods and loved it, so I was thrilled when I got approved for the ARC of Electric Idol! Electric Idol takes place in Olympus, just like in Neons God's, and follows Persephone's sister Psyche. This book was just as good as the first one. I'm trying to figure out which one I like better, but so far I'm not sure because I love them both!

I loved both of the main characters in this one, and the alternating POVs really helped us get to know each character more. Psyche, the kind hearted, plus-sized, strong, capable woman, and Eros, the quiet, stubborn and dangerous man who is forced to do Aphrodite's forty work. Im usually not a fan of instant attraction but in this book it just WORKED! I loved them from begining to end and I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop.

This book has less steam than the first, so if Neon Gods was a bit much for you, I definitely recommend reading this one!

5/5 stars!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for sending me an E-ARC of this book for an honest review!

This was probably one of my most anticipated books of the year, and when I saw the E-ARC in my inbox, I almost dropped my phone in excitement.

I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK.

Katee Robert never disappoints. She always has amazing queer characters, a fun and interesting plot, a swoon worthy romance, and a lot of really well crafted smut with clear lines and conversations surrounding consent. This book had everything I love from Katee Robert—incredible, honest queer rep, sexy, emotional, and healthy sex scenes, inspiring and strong and unique lead characters, and a story that stays in my mind weeks after I finish reading it.

I will say that this book did not have as much spice as the last book—the sex scenes were a bit more laid back than Neon Gods—however, the scenes that were in there were still extremely sexy, and the yearning, pining, and sexual tension is through the roof.

Psyche is probably one of my favorite characters. She is so strong, smart, and independent. I loved seeing her fall for Eros. One of my favorite things about this book was seeing her thrive and talk about her body in such a beautiful and positive light. I also loved seeing her with her job as an influencer—this was probably the first time I’ve read a book that has a main character as an influencer, where the author really respects the job and considers it a real job… idk if that makes sense? It was cool, though.

And Eros… my lovely baby Eros. My gods. I think my favorite part of this book is reading about him realizing his love for Psyche, as well as learning that he can be loved. I almost loved him as much as I loved Hades… which is hard to do because I love Hades so damn much.

I also really loved getting to see more of Psyche’s family, the other children of the 13, as well as more of Persephone and Hades just being the lovely and adorable Bi couple we all know and love.

I could go on and on about how much I love this book and this series and how much everyone should read it.

I cannot express how excited I am for the next book in this series! I will forever consume anything that Katee Robert writes and I cannot wait for her next book.

Thanks for reading!
Caden

I loved this so much more than the first!

Eros does the “dirty work” for his mom Aphrodite. He’s often described cold and how he doesn’t have a heart. When Aphrodite orders Eros to bring her Psyche’s heart but after an encounter with Psyche, Eros finds that he doesn’t want to harm her. The only way he thinks of to protect Psyche with the backing of the Olympians is to marry her.

It’s definitely a fake relationship + marriage of convenience romance. The best part is seeing both of them develop attachment and feelings for each other 😌🥰

Eros has always been mistreated by his own mother which definitely manifested in how he views himself. He thinks he’s completely undeserving of Psyche but wants to protect her treat her well.

Also loved seeing more of the Dimitriou sisters dynamic!! Looking forward to the next book! Thank you Sourcebooks Casa for the e-ARC!

Neon Gods was the first book I have ever read by Katee Robert. I fell in love with her take on Hades and Persephone. When I heard about the next installment in her Dark Olympus series, I knew I needed it in my hands as soon as possible. This time around, I had no idea what to expect since I’m not familiar with the myth of Eros and Psyche.

This book picks up right where Neon Gods left off. Olympus is trying to stabilize itself after the loss of the last Zeus and the revelation of Hades being alive after the role being gone for 30 years. Demeter, Psyche’s mother, is still determined to have one of her daughters take on the Hera role. Demeter's sights are set on Psyche becoming Hera. These plans go up in flames after a chance encounter between Eros and Psyche is photographed. Olympus believes they are star-crossed lovers in secret. Due to the buzz, Aphrodite tells Eros she wants him to kill Psyche. For the first time in a long time, Eros defies his mother. He decides to save Psyche by marrying her.

Like its predecessor, Electric Idol is a quick, entertaining read! I really enjoyed Psyche and Eros as characters. Watching them get to know each other and let their walls down bit by bit was heartwarming. Eros is such a complex, damaged character. His mother has manipulated and used his love for her against him his whole life. Now he believes he's a monster who is unworthy of love. Then, Psyche comes along, and she sees him for who he truly is rather than who the media and even Eros believe him to be.

My biggest complaints about this book are the plot and the fast-track relationship between Eros and Psyche. I hate to say it, but the plot is weak. Most of this book is about the relationship between Eros and Psyche. Aphrodite didn’t seem as much of a threat as Eros claimed until the very end of the book. Then, once Aphrodite pops up and becomes a threat, she is neutralized way too easily and quickly. My last complaint is that the romance is rushed. These two characters don’t know each other that well before they start proclaiming to be in love. Don’t get me wrong, their romance is super cute. I just wish we got more of it before they fell in love and the book ended.

Overall, I’d recommend this book to romance fans! It has angst, pining, and a marriage of convenience! I’m excited to see what Katee Robert writes next.
