OH FOR THE SAKE OF SMUT!!!!
5 super hot, thigh clinching, lip biting, goddess worshiping stars. You thought neon gods was good? Oh. Just you wait til you get your hands on ELECTRIC IDOL. To say I’m OBSESSED is an understatement.

I listened to Neon Gods on Spotify and I've been hooked on anything by Katee Robert ever since. After powering through the entirety of the Wicked Villains series, I was so incredibly excited to get early access to Electric Idol and for good reason. It blew my expectations completely out of the water and I think I, shockingly, liked this even more than Neon Gods. Eros made my heart ache and I got so sucked in by the plot and characters I finished the book in less than a day. I can't wait to read Katee's next book! A huge thank you to Sourcebooks for allowing me this early copy, it completely made my month.

I really love Katee Robert's writing style and I find that she is one of the few contemporary romance writers that I can actually get on board with. Her spice to plot ratio is always perfect and the scenes themselves are always excellently written. Unfortunately though, this book fell really flat for me. I found that there was almost zero chemistry between the two leads, and the smut lacked any actual heat (Unlike Neon Gods). The plot itself was okay, but it was overshadowed by the incredibly boring protagonists. I found myself skimming through most of this one. The story overall had strong bones but the execution was disappointing - especially because I'm used to top quality from Robert.

I love Katee Robert, and she stays consistent! This series is a thing of beauty, and I loved falling back into this world. So amazing!

I absolutely fell head over heels for this book, I'm dying to talk to someone about it!

I adore the plus size representation, its well done and all use curvy girls can relate to the things that happen.

Psyche is a bad ass with heart and she stole mine

Eros is just * HOT * in so many ways

I felt the emotional development of both characters through out the book

Also hot dam is this book spicy !

This was a really good story. Unlike with Hades and Persephone, I was not familiar with this Greek myth. But it would be interesting to know how much of the myth is in play of the story. Who doesn't love a good marriage of convenience story, a trope that is forever amusing. Psyche and Eros were both interesting to read. Especially Eros and his many layers. Psyche just shows that you don't mess with the sisters and she is such a confident woman. Definitely worth the read.

***ARC***
fans of neon gods, be prepare to fall in love even more.

i'm officially sure this is one of my favourite series. if i loves the first book and gave it 5/5, i would gave this one 6/5.

i loved it beyond words. at first when i heard, katee was about to release a second book about the series i was so excited but it got toned down when i saw it would be about psyche. i didn't really connect with her, while reading neon gods, i was more of a callisto fan. but my opinion completely changed when i read the excerpt of electric idol. i was back at being super excited to read it and couldn't wait to be January 2022, until i got approuved for the arc. so electric ideol was my birthday treat. and damn what a treat.

i fell instantly in love with eros, even tho i didn't like him that much from what i saw in neon gods. he is everything i search in a male character in books. he is morally grey character in wait of a redemption arc, my very favourite.
- seeing his development was such a delight because you go from this man who think he deserves nothing to thanking every gods for the gift he received.
- his chemistry with psyche was off the charts, their start was very cute in all the ways it brought to the story.
- man the i-need-to-kill-you-but-i-can't was INCREDIBLE. we all love enemies to lovers but i think we don't talk about enough how tasty a starcrossed lovers story is. the angst, the pinning, the banter, the segssual tension, the self loathing, the feeling of betraying, it's soooooo amazing, and psyche and eros SERVED at this.
- the plot twists and confessions got my mouth wide opens multiple times
- psyche was so relatable in her struggle and see eros worship her was amazing because it was what she deserved
- eros being loved and respected, seeing the world open on him because of psyche was lovely, cute and overwhelming because he hates himself so much then to see someone be here for him and accept him 100% was truly the best thing ever
- i love a couple where transparency and respect is key and eros and psyche were the definition of it
- the new characters introduced as the kaseos siblings are a new add to the series i'm so excited about

i could talk hours about this book as i can't find the words about it to express everything i feel because i'm so overwhelmed by the feelings i have for this story.

overall if i had to rate hades against eros i would give a 10/10 to hades because he is literally perfect and 9,5/10 for eros because he is imperfectly imperfect but i loved eros more than hades. eros is my baby, i love him so very much and i was so happy to have witness his story. this story is going to be a new comfort read of mine FOR SURE.

ratings:
liking : 6/5
spice : 3,5/5
segssual tension : 4/5

I love this new take on Greek gods. Robert's last book, Neon Gods, was set in this "modern" Olympus, and this book continues the series. I loved the storyline and the angst of the story. My only criticism is that the heroine of Electric Idol is very similar to the heroine of Neon Gods - yes, they're sisters, but if I read a random passage from each book, I don't know that I'd be able to tell the two apart. Otherwise, I thought it was a great romance and was a super fun read.

This book is so SO good. I love Katee Robert's books more than I can say. This series is the best! I am a huge fan of mythological inspired books in any shape or form. This series is no exception. If you're a fuddy-duddy and like to complain if an author makes a single change to your perception of the story, beware. However, if you are a good sport and love a fresh new twist on old characters and stories, ESPECIALLY ones so hot they'll melt your socks off, get this book at your earliest convenience.

The world building is *chef's kiss*. The characters are magnificent. The chemistry is off the charts. The characters are multidimensional and enjoyable. The story is well written and fully developed. I love every single thing about this book.

After reading Neon Gods and sleeplessly bingeing the Wicked Villains series by Katee Robert... this one didn't quite measure up. I still love the world she's built and will breathlessly wait for future installments, but Eros and Psyche kind of felt like a placeholder rather than an exciting adventure.

After an enticing introduction to the Dark Olympus worlds in Neon Gods, I was so excited to dive into Electric Idol. And, definitely enjoyed the ride. It's got the characteristic Katee Robert heat, loads of interesting characters, and all sorts of dark drama. Certainly a fast-paced page turner.

I continue to be intrigued by the constructs of this world- Katee's take on the gods. The stories themselves, this one about Eros and Psyche, are loose interpretations at best, and the construct of the "gods" is entirely different, but I love how Katee has kept the essence of what makes us so enthralled by mythology - the power dynamics, the soap-operatic political and social drama of the most powerful, the epic quality, and the over powering emotions.

Psyche is one of my favorite mythological characters, so I was excited to see the KR portrayal. Here, the targeted hit of Aphrodite's chosen hitman, her son, Eros. We have a sexy romance surrounded by lots of conflict and drama. While the world building isn't super focused, I found this easier to give into than Neon Gods (because the infrastructure is already there). The couples' romance continues to be the star of these series- in fact, some of the other drama I could do with less of, so we can get even deeper into the heart of our characters. But this story was still wildly entertaining and sexy- rife with all the things readers love about Katee Robert. Looking forward to what's next!

This book!! I could not be more in love with this series if I tried!

The way Katee wrote this is just spectacular. It is 100% everything you want in a spicy modern day romance, with a dash of suspense. Then throw in the way she expertly writes the Greek mythology retelling and it makes it everything I never knew I needed. The way I could picture Eros and Psyche in 2021 makes this series truly stand out among other retellings.

Love a good marriage of convenience, but what a twist the way it came about! I also loved that Katee gave us a struggle between Eros and Psyche and their feelings, but we didn’t have to deal with them lying about how they felt or just leaving, if that makes sense. I hate when there’s a huge “miscommunication” in romances that keep the characters apart for too long for unnecessary reasons. So, thank you Katee!!

The conflict resolution moment was also Amazing!! Loved the way we saw Psyche’s intelligence and cunning. She didn’t need her man to swoop in and save her and she came up with a fantastic plan all on her own.

Alsoooo can we talk about a beautiful plus sized woman who loves her body and is loved by the “super hot, fit guy”?? Thank you!! Everyone deserves love, everyone is beautiful, and everyone is good enough. So grateful for an author who gave us a love story of a woman who isn’t a size 2!!

If you haven’t read this series…what are you doing?!? Romance, Super Spicy, and a Greek mythological retelling…it’s a 10/10 for me!

Oh my goodness! This was my first Katee Robert book and it won't be my last. I knew from Chapter Two that this was a book I was not going to be able to put down, and I was right! I finished in a day. This had some of my favorite things- fake marriage trope, crackling dialogue, and smut with feelings attached! This was fast paced and fun. I only wished it was longer, I wanted to spend more time with these characters.

Katee Robert really has sucked me in with her romantic mythology retellings. I have loved both Neon Gods and Electric Idol and really look forward to Wicked Beauty.

I loved the dynamic between these two and am a sucker for the marriages of convenience Persephone's sister Psyche Dimitriou and Eros Ambrosia, the son of Aphrodite, enter into a marriage of convenience in an attempt to save Psyche's life from the hit Aphrodite put out on her. Robert did a fabulous job with highlighting body image representation by making Psyche plus-sized and the highs and lows of not fitting into the perfect beauty mold that society as set. Eros is beyond smitten with her curves and really is like a feral cat. One of things I love about Robert's writing is her ability to write the most complicated heroes, yet they are so warm-hearted and brought to their knees by the right woman.

I truly hope she continues to write more wonderful romance mythology retellings in the future!

I absolutely loved Neon Gods so I was very excited when Electric Idol was set to be published!

Electric Idol can be read as a standalone but you’d be missing out if you didn’t eventually read Neon Gods. Electric Idol tells the story of Eros and Psyche. I absolutely loved getting to know more about Olympus. The world building is amazing.

I loved Eros and Psyche. Eros does his mother’s bidding and is good at it. He never takes issue with following her orders, until Psyche becomes his next target. Psyche is kind but has to remain reserved because of her circumstances. Both characters have to hold back parts of themselves and are unable to feel truly free. I don’t mind insta-love and Eros deserves it so I was so flipping happy. While not as spicy as Neon Gods. It is still SPICY! The chemistry between Eros and Psyche is amazing and so much sexual tension.

Overall, I think if you loved Neon Gods, marriage of convenience, forbidden love, and Eros/Psyche retellings with excellent characters, you will not be let down! Katee Roberts knows how to write steam but also has the amazing ability to really tap into the characters emotions and insecurities and make you feel it.

Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for the advanced copy!

I received my copy as an ARC from NetGalley.

This was a great continuation from Neon Gods. I love the marriage of convenience trope and this book hit the nail on the head. Fast paced, continued the world building, and had a believable progression into the relationship. I can’t wait for the next one!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca for my e-ARC of Electric Idol in exchange for an honest review!
I started off the Dark Olympus series by Katee Robert with Neon Gods so I was so excited to tackle the next couple’s story with a retelling of Eros and Psyche (clearly a lot of liberties are going to be taken with the myth, but that’s fine for me!)!
Wow, right out of the gate this story didn’t disappoint. The plot and romance got rolling very on in the book and I loved that it continued to have a mafia romance-esq vibe the way Neon Gods did. Eros comes off as the ruthless killing hitman and in reality just becomes a totally cinnamon roll for Psyche. Psyche herself is a badass, plus-size, intelligent woman who can go toe-to-toe with the underground of the city when needed. And holy crap, the chemistry and steamy scenes between these two are just too hot to handle at times!! **fans myself** Their relationship becomes so wholesome as well and it just hits you all in the feels. And don’t worry, Persephone and Hades still have little cameos! I also excited for the series to continue with Wicked Beauty!

The way that Katee Robert has me by THE THROAT with these hot Dark Olympus books!

I’ve never seen Greek mythology be written like this and like we have just been missing out because this series just gets better and better with each Dark Olympus book!

Electric Idol is a super hot, super sexy book and I could not get enough! I devoured this book in one sitting and upon finishing it all I could think about was the next book!

Psyche was the main character of my dreams, the plus size rep had me in tears and I just love that she was doing her thing! Eros, I loved him so much from the first sight of him. These two have my heart and I’m so incredibly happy we got their story!

This is probably the most addictive series I’ve ever read where I feel like I need the next book immediately every time!
I cannot wait to see where Katee Robert takes this Dark Olympus world next, quite honestly I hope she never stops writing these books because I love them so much!

Electric Idol is a great sequel to Neon Gods. We get a deep glimpse into the political situation in Olympus as Psyche manoeuvres her own life after sister Persephone has married Hades. I thought this book, in comparison to the first one, was a bit sweeter. It was a nice change and I'm sure readers who perhaps found the first book a little kink heavy, may find this one more enjoyable. I think Robert has a lovely style when putting together scenes and working through dialogue. I found the romance between Eros and Psyche enjoyable to watch unfold. And it was lovely to see Persephone and Hades make the occasional appearance. Appropriate for adult romance readers as there are explicit descriptions of sex.

Less taboo than Neon Gods, but still as captivating. It totally sucked me in, which is no surprise when it comes to Katee Robert. A little fluffier, with more sweetly romantic moments, but there is still that dark and foreboding overtone that I loved about Neon Gods.

The body image representation in this is fantastic! Psyche is fat and Eros is literally wanton to touch her all the time. He is beyond smitten and really is like a feral cat. I loved the dynamic between these two and am a sucker for marriages of convenience.

There is definitely some instalust going on in this book, but let’s be honest, that’s the kind of content we are here for and BOY did it pay off. Let’s just say that Eros is a very generous lover and is always ready to please. 🤣 You can definitely expect some good heat in this.

On the body representation, I always feel a little seen when authors write plus size main characters and I appreciate the way Katee Robert touched upon fatphobia and body shaming. While Psyche experiences insecurities about her body, she’s also very forthright in setting boundaries for herself and others to protect her mental health. And Eros isn’t one of those love interests that tries to invalidate Psyche’s experiences or feelings by telling her she’s wrong or showering her with praise and compliments. Obviously, he finds her beautiful, and makes clear that he does, but he also listens to her and is quick to support her and defend her when it’s necessary. Just really well done, all around, in my opinion.

There are also some fantastic twists in this, as well as progression in the stories of other characters we met in Neon Gods. I LOVED (and totally called) the twist near the end and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes.

This has quickly become one of my favorite romance worlds and you can bet I’m ready for Wicked Beauty. 🙃😶
