This was an excellent continuation of the series. I loved the twists and turns and I really liked the main characters. It was still spicy, but there was a lot of fun intrigue that you wanted to work through. Highly recommend, and I'm looking forward to the next book.

This was so much fun to read! I loved the main couple and their whole dynamic! The chemistry is so good! The plot though, was more meh. Individually and together, the main characters are great to follow.

For fans of "Neon Gods" Katee Roberts gives us the second book in the Dark Olympus series. I loved Eros and Psyche's story. Robert can certainly write steamy scenes, but also can make them very heartfelt. This story easily stands as its own although reading "Neon Gods" does give the reader more context on the complicated mother-daughter relationship between Psyche and her mother. I cannot wait to read more of Robert's books. Thanks so much to #netgalley for this early read.

I love Katee Robert's books. So far I have yet to be disappointed with her writing style, world building and character development. I will definitely continue with this series and her others as well.

I FINALLY GET THE HYPE!!! WOW, THIS WAS SO GOOD. It's a psyche and eros book. It's a fast read and it's pretty steamy!!!

Review posted to tiktok— I liked it! I’ve read a lot of Katee Robert’s work and enjoyed most of it, but struggled a little with how much the maternal angst played into Eros’ character in the book

This one is even better than the first. Psyche is such a great heroine. I love that she's plus-sized, but her story arc is never about her feeling bad about how she looks. Other people think she should, but she doesn't and that is so, so good. I loved seeing more of the Dimitriou family in this one, loved the Psyche/Eros dynamic, and want so much more of Eros the Wife Guy.

Book two in the Dark Olympus series gives us a modern retelling of Psyche and Eros. Eros takes quite the orders from his mother Aphrodite, serving up the dirty work, but when her next “intended target” for him is Psyche, things won’t go as planned. With a marriage in order to keep her safe, Psyche is determined to make his life hell until the mess is sorted, but can she resist the charm of Eros?

Read If You Love:
-mythology retellings
-marriage of convenience
-plus size character representation
-steam (duh!) 🔥🔥🔥

I thoroughly enjoyed Neon Gods and all of the steam that came with. Do I think Electric Idol packs a bigger punch? That I am not entirely sure of. It took me longer to get into this book than Neon Gods. I was really hoping for an immediate gripper, but that wasn’t the case. It also felt somewhat lacking in plot, much like Neon Gods, but honestly, I feel like I really came for the steam when I took on these books. I will continue to recommend this series solely based on it’s ability to bring the steam, and I will certainly read the next book!

A special thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this eARC! Electric Idol is out now!

I love this series. Katee Robert writes romance like no other and this was a great second book after Neon Gods. I hope Katee writes a hundred more Dark Olympus books. I would read every one.

I swear, there is nothing that Katee can't do. Every time I read one of her books I think they can't get better, BUT THEY DO! Seriously, this book is amazing. I love the incorporation of Greek mythology, and the SPICE IS AMAZING!

5 incredibly steamy stars!

Psyche is the daughter of Demeter and feels very out of place in the inner circle of the Thirteen, titles in Greek myth. One night while attending a party, Psyche runs into Eros, the dangerously handsome son of Aphrodite. He is injured and she offers her help. On their way back to the part, a paparazzi snaps an out-of-context photo of the two of them in a compromising situation. Aphrodite, being the power hungry woman she is, demands that Psyche (and in turn, her mother) pay. She sends Eros to take care of the problem. But Eros's second meeting with Psyche is just as electric as the first and he can't seem to go through with it. Finding no other solution, he proposes a strategic marriage between them, hoping to stop Aphrodite from carrying out her dark agenda. The more time that passes, the more the newlyweds realize they aren't able to resist one another. Will the marriage save Psyche's life and bring back feelings in Eros that he thought were long dead?

I read the first book in the Dark Olympus series as soon as my library got it. While I enjoyed it, it was nothing compared to this. Katee Robert's writing seems to have been honed in this work. The world building and storytelling were like almost nothing else you see in the romance/erotica genre. She brings her characters to life and gives her own spin on Greek myth. She has a true art with her words and I am looking forward to reading more from her in the future. This book was wonderful and unputdownable. I am unashamed to admit that I loved this book and read it in one day.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an advanced copy to review!

I thoroughly enjoyed this! I had really high hopes for Electric Idol following my devouring of Neon Gods last year and it did not disappoint at all. Eros and Psyche were so adorable and somehow felt very real, in a way that most fantasy romance novel couples don’t. Sure, I envy others or swoon over their cuteness, but Eros and Psyche just felt like a warm hug of messy reality amidst all the captivating mythology. I love how they worked through their pasts and insecurities and were such a solid team from the very sudden start of their partnership. It was also really nice to see Hades and Persephone and how they were woven into the plot just enough, but not enough that their involvement or happily ever after felt forced at all. Everything from the plot and pacing to characters was done very well, can’t wait for the next book!

I knew as soon as I finished Neon Gods that I needed more Dark Olympus ASAP. I requested ELECTRIC IDOL as soon as I seen that it was available and was beyond excited that it was approved.

ELECTRIC IDOL is a fast paced modern retelling of the story of Psyche and Eros. After Aphrodite asks for her enforcer (Eros) to bring her Psyches heart, they concoct a scheme to save her life. There's a lot going on; there's a marriage of convenience, enemies to lovers, body positivity, plus size rep, toxic mothers, and plenty of spice.

3.5 Stars

I devoured this book, twice. I didn't love it as much as Neon Gods, but it was a good sequel. I love that Katee Roberts included a body positive plus sized main character (Psyche). I couldn't help but love the beautifully broken and complex Eros as well.

I do wish it was a little more plot driven and had more world building because I was confused in a couple of places. I personally was not a fan of the narrators and it made me cringe a little at times. I don't get why they have accents... I don't think they were right for the story at all.

I would recommend this book to anyone that loved Neon Gods or spicy mythology books in general. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the Dark Olympus series and more from Katee Roberts in general.

Thank you to Netgalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and Dreamscape Media for allowing me to listen to this audiobook/ access to an EARC in exchange for an honest review.

Loved this spicy retelling of Eros and Psyche. Psyche is Persephone's sister, a little larger than her sisters, she has learned to play the social media influencer game, and navigates her way carefully through the dangerous politics and cutthroat society games they all play. Aphrodite is still in competition with Persephone and Psyche's mother Demeter to become the most powerful goddess in their society.

Eros is Aphrodite's coolly beautiful and ruthless son. trained from a young age into doing his mother's bidding in order to secure her attention or approval, he has now become her fixer, setting up or killing who she directs him to.

When Psyche comes to her attention, as Demeter is in negotiations to make her the new Zeus's bride, Aphrodite insists Eros kills her.

When they meet, Psyche's kindness to Eros makes him reconsider, and in an attempt to outmanoeuvre his mother, they get married so Eros can protect her. As they work together, using Psyche's influencer skills and the palpable attraction between them to create a happy facade for the media and the public, can they escape Aphrodite's wrath, or will she succeed in ambushing them and destroying Psyche.

This was a hot, exciting read, with a really strong attraction between the two leads, and a great sense of peril throughout. Eros is convinced he has become a monster who can't be redeemed, but he isn't sure he can let Psyche go when the deception succeeds. Psyche may be kind hearted and a good person, but she is no pushover, and her social media profile means she has had to toughen up fast. As they learn about each other, they also learn to work together to neutralise the wicked Aphrodite, and get to their HEA.

I loved it.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book and all opinions are my own.

This is such addictive world-building. After Zeus and Persephone's story, I wasn't sure what to expect in this fantasy/contemporary series that has the feel of an erotic mafia world.

This fake marriage, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, beauty and the beast romance featuring Psyche and Eros hit all my romance lover's buttons and kept me turning pages late into the night. The addition of new characters had me going to this author's website to see who's story was up next. I'm so excited for the next book in the series.

Wow! Let me start with some statistical data:

Time it took me to read it: 6 hours
Times I put this book down: 1 (literally just to use the bathroom)
Rating: 5/5

This is my second Katie Robert book, and I already know I will purchase anything and everything this woman writes. I adored Neon Gods, but Electric Idol owned my heart the minute Eros appeared on the page. The storyline was absolutely amazing, and several pages literally took my breath away. The last chapter of the book was a cherry on the top of the cake!!!!

A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sending me an ARC of this book.

Katee Roberts never fails to deliver!
This was such a great read!

Electric idol was the perfect retelling of Eros and Psyche!!
The characters were so well written! Their chemistry was through the roof! (be prepared for the steam my friends!)
The lore and world building were also so incredibly done!

I'd definitely recommend to anyone who's a fan of Greek mythology retellings! I can't wait for book 3 😍

Absolutely steaming romance that has you hanging on to every word. I will never ever get tired of reading a Hades/Persephone retelling, and this has to be the most spicy and fresh iteration I’ve read as of yet.

I really enjoyed this sequel to Neon God. This updated retelling of the story of Psyche and Eros in the modern city of Olympus, shows their marriage of convenience turning into a real relationship with red hot chemistry. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series!
