This simple construction book looks at more than earth moving equipment when it comes to making a highway. It has some very interesting tools like an auto level, kids may need explained. It’s nice to see a picture book that is detailed while it is still simple.

This book is about different equipment used to build roads. There is no plot or storyline, just a list of things you might need to build a road. Unfortunately, some of them are described in a way that are very basic descriptions or actually inaccurate (the paving is described as flattening the road. In fact, paving is laying down asphalt or some other material to keep the road flat. A motor grader is actually the machine that makes the road flat). This would be good for very young readers who don't actually know that much about road building where accuracy isn't that important.

While I liked the pictures, and I saw the premise of the book, I thought the vocabulary was way too difficult and unnecessary for a board book. I see why they would want to give kids the real vocabulary, but I don't think this was the time or place for it.

The predictable sentence starter on each page and bright illustrations will delight toddlers as they learn new vocabulary in Let's Build a Highway. The perfect book for children interested in trucks, building, community helpers. (Now available for preorder.)

The bright colors, vocabulary and simple sentences make this board book a hit with toddler and preschool readers. I am a mother of two preschool-aged boys and my kids loved looking at the vivid colors, and learning the names of the construction trucks. My older son is curious about how things work or how things are made, and Let's Build a Highway explains the basics of how roads are built and used.

I highly recommend this colorful, cute and informative book for anyone who is interested in construction trucks and building things!

Thanks to NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for an honest review!

My toddler and I really enjoyed this book about building a highway. We had read similar books before but liked the engineering concepts in this book. The illustrations were fun as well.

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Kids for providing an ARC.

This is going to be a HUGE favorite of any kid already obsessed with building, construction, trucks, and tools! Equipment and materials are listed along with their function/purpose in building a highway. This doesn't shy away from specific items and technical terms, which I think is respectful of an interested kid's capacity for learning.

The illustrations are simple, bold, and angular in saturated primary colors. They will definitely be engaging to toddler and pre-K readers. I can see this as one that gets repeated a LOT. It would be a great addition to preschool classroom libraries.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This is a super cute Children's book that I read to my twin Boys. I think this book is great for any little boy that loves Trucks. This book is great for pre-K to 1st grade. This book as a lot of different types of trucks. This book also as a lot of repeating phrase in it which I think is great for early readers. The pictures will pull the kid in, and the short phrase about trucks will keep them wanting to keep going. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
