First off, I'd just like to say that I completely wasn't expecting this book to be what it was based on the synopsis, but it really drew me in. Every time I picked it up, I wanted to keep reading. It kept throwing thing after thing at me and I was really intrigued by what would happen next. Plus, the characters were interesting and the concept as a whole really had be curious on how this whole thing could be resolved.

I wasn't a big fan of the writing style and there were a lot of conflicts that just kept popping up. It felt like so much was being brought up and then subsequently forgotten? Like, a lot of plotlines opened up that didn't actually end up being super important, but I still enjoyed reading it. I liked the romance and I liked the plot twists. Plus the whole "you touched me and I burned you" thing reminded me a lot of the agnes montague jack barnabas episode of the magnus archives and you know that's always a plus.

The only other little thing that bugged me was the GSA scene toward the end where they were all going around and they were supposed to say their pronouns and some people just Didn't and then also a teacher said he uses "male pronouns" which, pronouns don't have genders so there are no "male pronouns". I get that he was a teacher so maybe he was just ignorant? but no one corrected him either so that was just eh.

Overall, I thought it was a decent book and I'm glad I got to read an arc of it.

The Temperature of You and Me is a combination of my absolute favorite trope ever (mysterious superpowers) and my least favorite trope (insta-love). Toss in a badass friend group (the Kristen, Perry, and Dylan bromance vibes literally made this novel) and a Pennsylvania small town, and the amazing outweighed the not-my-favorite insta-love. I really, really enjoyed this.

If you're in the mood for a mysterious superpowers drama, filled with good friends and all the fumblings of young love, give this one a try. This was hella cute.

It took me a while to really get into this story, but honestly I was in a bit of a slump when I picked it up. Definitely YA, the pacing in the beginning was a bit slow, but by the time the 2nd act rolled around, I was enjoying it much more. I would definitely recommend this to someone who enjoyed YA stories.

The Temperature of Me and You is a story about two boys meeting, sharing secrets, falling in love, and dealing with issues larger than they can handle. The characters are ok. The love-struck boy, the peppy-cheerleader, the angry girl, the hot (literally) crush. It was an okay story and written in an okay way. I wouldn’t rush to suggest this book, but it’s there in my back pocket in case someone is looking for a recommendation with LGTBQ leads.

I really did not enjoy The Temperature of Me and You. What could've been an adorable queer YA (we'll never stop needing these) combined with elements of sci-fi, was instead a book that was overall hard-to-read. The writing was not appealing to me at all. The first half of the book was slow in pacing. Some lines felt very juvenile and others were quite "descriptive" and a little gross, which were out of place in a YA novel. This includes lots of bodily descriptions, such as when the main character elects to focus on describing snot coming out of his nose while he's kissing another character and the line in which "My insides empty through my butt and splatter on the floor." Though none of the characters were absolutely intolerable, I didn't have a favorite character and didn't really feel any sort of connection to any of the characters. The fact that this book was written by an adult was very apparent, which is a classic YA problem. In my opinion, there are truly few authors who can capture the voice of a teenager through the first person point of view, and the author of this book was unable to deliver that. Really, the only thing preventing me from giving it one star was that the main couple was cute at times and the plot wasn't entirely inconsistent, though there were some points where you were just thrown a plot point and forced to accept it. I acknowledge that this is the authors debut and I believe that Zepka will be able to write a great novel in the future but unfortunately this was not it.

I had a really hard time sticking with this book. First off, the cover is gorgeous and the synopsis was so promising but it just really feel flat for me! I think the biggest issue for me was the writing style, it was very explain-y with not a lot of actual substance. I also just felt like the characters were very shallow and I had a really hard time rooting for them. I really wanted to like it more but it just wasn’t for me.

I was so thankful to receive this arc from netgalley. Everything about this book intrigued me; cover art, the synopsis. This book was so easy to read and so enjoyable. It was entertaining from the beginning, taking off with a quick pace and staying steady.

It’s high school and silly. Dylan is SO funny. His inner dialogue was hilarious and honestly relatable (more so if I were a teen). His nickname is DYL Pickle and I’m sorry but that was one of my favorite things!!! It made me laugh. He has a really sweet relationship with his two girl best friends and also with his parents.

When we meet Dylan he’s very much the angsty, dramatic “I’ll never find love.” MC who is ordinary and gay and very introverted. He’s so precious. He works at Dairy Queen and this is where he meets Jordan.

I LOVE JORDAN and I am dying for a book in his POV. Jordan isn’t like other boys… and by that I mean he literally catches on fire. I loved the weird, sci-fi story line. It was genuinely like a superhero origin story; but Jordan isn’t a superhero. He’s a 17 year old highschooler who lost his parents and is alone. He slowly lets himself grow close to Dylan and it’s so sweet. But what happens when Dylan is too exposed to him and now HE has the same fire problem???

So many crazy things happen; the police and fire rescue are involved, there’s suspicious men following them, secrets have to be kept from loved ones, and love grows and hearts are broken, enemies become allies and self accountability is chosen.

I read this book SO fast. It was such a light, silly hearted book and I genuinely loved it so much. It was the perfect break from more serious fantasy or sadder books. I would absolutely recommend this book.

The beginning is a little slow but then it gets really cute and I loved it! I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves feeling the warm fuzzies.

i think this was a fun book! and it pretty accurately represented how teenagers think/ speak (to a certain extent, i mean it is a ya novel). i was hoping for a little more on the realistic fiction/ romance side and a little less of a sci-fi explaining of powers, but it was a very enjoyable book nonetheless!

The temperature of me and you is a sweet, amazing and cute love story about first loves and what one would do to keep and protect it. I loved reading this story, it was so captivating, I fell in love with Dylan and Jordan right away and it was such a pleasure following them in their journey of love and trust and survival. Absolutely magnificent!

I thought the story was cute, but I felt like it was underdeveloped and the relationships were happening way to fast. The writing style wasn’t my favorite but it wasn’t a bad book. The action part of the book was really good tho, I like the concept of powers too!

Overall, this was a pretty solid read! I loved Dylan and Jordan, and their story was fun to read. I think this will do really well with it's intended audience, for sure!

I do wish Jordan's abilities were explained a bit more, and we got an answer on how just exactly Dylan was able to contract some of his own, though. Parts of this felt a bit rushed for me, and I think the ending tied everything up a little too picture perfect. It left me wanting answers, but I did enjoy the read overall!

Thank you Net Galley for an ARC of The Temperature of Me and You by Brian Zepka. This one is about Dylan and Jordan. I went into it expecting to like it because of all the good rebooted but just didn't. I had problems picking it back up. But I did and read the entire book.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was fast paced and easy to read. I love the representation of a queer young adult love story. I thought the premise of the book was interesting. I liked the overall mystery of who Jordan was and what was going to happen next? It kept me reading and I finished the book in about a day. Gave me X-Men meets Stranger Things vibes with a dash of teenage angst.

This book will warm you up during the winter months and will also make you want a Blizzard from Dairy Queen.

I did feel like there were parts that were not explained well and I felt like the ending wrapped things up too quickly. The book need 1-2 more plot points to make it more interesting or to pick up the pace. The book felt a little one note and just was missing something. I think overall the book played it a little safe, did it want to me a strictly contemporary YA book or did it want to be a fantasy YA book? I love all of the elements of the book but ultimately felt like it stayed in the middle and couldn’t quite bring it all home.

Zepka tells an amazing story with planned out plot and well thought characters. I thoroughly enjoyed every second reading this book, and cannot wait to see more of their work!

This book is veryyy YA, and honestly a bit of a refresher from my normal books. First, this cover is so beautiful it hurts. Seriously, kudos to the artist who did this cuz A+. This is delightfully cute and fluffy in only a YA novel can be. You can’t help but smile when Dylan and his friends are just being dramatic teenagers, you can’t help but feel the twang of first love when Jordan and Dylan share their first kiss, and you also can’t help but feel the heartbreak when that first love falls to pieces. This book pairs all of that with a cool twist on a superhero trope. Jordan’s ability to literal catch on fire is the main hurdle the two need to jump. I did find it a big odd that about half way through Dylan suddenly ends up with the same powers. I would of preferred if he was kept normal. It made the story less believable (I understand how that sounds but you know what I mean) and was the only part of this I felt disconnected with. Dylan’s friends deserve an honorable mention, even the eventual enemy turned friend that has a cute redemption arc. As a whole I really enjoyed this, and this cover is definitely going to draw even the most apprehensive of YA readers to pick this up.

You know the phrase, “A picture is worth a thousand words?” Well, the cover of this book provides a sneak peak of how lovely this story truly is. Dylan is completely in awe of Jordan, while Jordan is looking at Dylan like he is finally being seen for the first time. Dylan’s hand on Jordan’s chest shows how trusting he is, while Jordan shows his vulnerability by allowing Dylan’s hand, but also wanting to keep it there for the fear Dylan will run away.

Anyway, you can probably tell that I liked this book. I am definitely not the most eloquent, but I really did like this book a lot.

My heart was aching for how lonely and isolated Jordan and Dylan are before they meet and while they are trying to figure things out (their relationship and their lives). Bless their little hearts. I love them so much.

I laughed and snorted so many times while reading this. Since I had an eBook version, I bookmarked all of the times I laughed out loud. There is a lot.

This book does a wonderful job of displaying healthy yet realistic high school friendships and interactions. Although, I couldn’t get past Perry’s name, because every time I had to read it, I pictured Perry the Platypus.

Kirsten and Perry remind me a lot of Sam and Carly from iCarly, but better. (Am I allowed to say that?) I love their group activities and how much they love and support each other. I desperately wish they were real, so I would have a chance to be in their friend group.

The Temperature of Me and You was one of my most anticipated reads. I absolutely loved it. Although there were some things that weren’t perfect, it was still an amazing read.

I really loved how all the characters were relatable teens. I mean aside from the superpowers. The banter was great and funny. Their friendship was well developed in my opinion.

Once I picked this book up, I couldn’t put it down. This book lived up to my expectations. I was really invested in it.

A fiery first love beginning in a Dairy Queen… it pulled me in from the start and didn’t let go.

This book was so cute and funny and I absolutely adored the characters! I dove right and as I read the first chapter, I realized that it truly reminded me of high school and the feelings I had: the utter need to fit in somewhere, be myself.

Overall, Zepka’s storytelling is very similar to that of TJ Klune’s in “Extraordinaries” so I truly enjoyed it for that part alone, but IT’S ANOTHER QUEER SCI-FI and y’all know I DIE for those so I truly adored this book because of that as well. Someone I really appreciated was Zepka’s characters: they’re relatable teenagers. Aside from the whole superpowers thing, they’re messy, they make mistakes and they do their best.

Beyond that, the story itself was full of banter, funny, witty and so, so full of friendship. Something a lot of YA novels lack is a strong group of friends with a discovery of more along the way and that’s what this book had. It was full of friendship, a first love, and so many feelings! I think this book really cheered me up and made me smile during a couple days when I was struggling.

I adored this queer romance so much. I really loved the direction this book went and commend the author of the representation that is in this book. Thank you for the e-galley!
