Zepka presents a fairly high-concept romance. Dylan and Jordan, the main characters, each have powerful abilities that readers learn more about as the story evolves. We meet the two young men as they meet each other. Two things quickly should become clear for readers: these boys genuinely like each other and they are both in way in over their heads. Yet, that's part of the fun in this story alongside the world-building; we uncover everything with them. While some savvy readers will pick up on some of the twists, there should be enough twists and turns to keep everyone engaged. It's a good coming-of-age story and romance with some solid science fiction elements. Things could have been very cluttered given all the genres at play, but it holds together.

Where do I even start with this book? I can't express how much I enjoyed reading this book the whole time. I think what really helps make this book really fun to read is Dylan's friends. They help add so much energy into this book it's bonkers. They are an amazing best friend duo and their one-liners are sometimes just really funny. It really did feel like these guys have been friends for years. Also, there is one character who I won't say because of spoilers that has a beautiful character arc that made me go from a hater of them to their biggest fan. Jordan felt like such a likable guy that you also felt the same emotions or pain he felt throughout the story and his chemistry with Dylan was so believable. Dylan was also just a really fun protagonist to hang out with and watch him grow into a whole new person. The plot in this story was done very well. Typically for me when I read books the beginning always drags on for me, but this time I felt like we just dove straight into it. Throughout the rest of the book, I felt the pacing was done amazingly and never felt like we were moving too slow. I think what also helps this book out is the couple of plot twists that I didn't see coming at all. Overall with the amazing cast of characters and a great plot, this is easily a solid 5/5 stars for me

While I am too old for the book, I believe the temperature of me and you is a fun and unique YA. The characters and the general atmosphere gave me Disney Channel Original Movie. It was a quick read and a good summertime romance. It is an insta love situation that was super cheesy. I think if I was younger, maybe in the 13/14 age range it would be more enjoyable to me personally.,

i like to judge a book by its cover, and a sense-excellent cowl desires a sense-correct e-book. The Temperature of Me and also you simply has that sense-good component, within the cowl, the identify, AND the writing. i really like memories primarily based on strong friendships. i adore stories about first loves. I smile when a teen is overly dramatic. and that i devour lovely and humorous moments, particularly after studying some heavier-themed stories. The Temperature of Me and you has all of it, and that i didn’t even recognize that I needed a e book like this proper now, till I started analyzing it! So, I grinned when Dylan, Perry, and Kirsten were de-stressing with paint-via-variety kits. I stated ‘ouch’ while Dylan touched Jordan for the primary time. I laughed out loud approximately Perry’s Love Connection. I chuckled whilst Dylan made references to Pokémon. I were given butterflies in my stomach when Dylan and Jordan suddenly kissed. and that i desired to recognize so much more approximately that actually warm boy!
at the start, I thought the story would be too predictable, the writing too simple, the romance too insta. however then the motion began, and i enjoyed myself tremendously, and i stored grinning and studying and even had a lump in my throat a couple of times. I need to admit, the story may be a piece shorter, however who cares whilst it cheers you up? And that cover once more … i'm able to consider teenagers striking a poster of it above their mattress with a view to swoon over it. Having pals over, gaping at it together, gushing approximately how fantastic it's miles. Doing … mmm, properly …, I’m simply announcing this cover would be first-rate merchandise … And it’s simply a cowl in order to stand out in a book shop!

Very cute and a worthy addition to library YA collections. While the details of the science part of the story are extremely sketchy (okay actually non-existent because what exactly is going on and how did it happen?) but who cares because the story itself is fun and the romance is cute.

The Temperature of Me and You is a book I initially picked up for its concept of supernatural abilities and the promises of a queer romance. Has much as this book made good on both of those promises, the story was lacking in many elements and the tale bored me.

I'm a huge fan of supernatural abilities and superhero's so I've read my fair share of both of these themes. This book had nothing unique to offer, the elements of fire and air have been used in a multitude of novels and the plot of being chased and researched by a scientific community as well. For example, the queer superhero series The Extraordinaries or even the comic Long Exposure both have extremely more detailed plot lines while having the same key themes as The Temperature of Me and You.

Most of the plot of this book is none existent till the last 10% of this book and the budding relationship between both protagonists is uninteresting, frankly, it's immaturely written. The lack of plot will bore most readers and the quick love, at first sight, the naive love relationship will also not entertain most readers. In addition, the pop culture references created in some of the dialogue between characters are too old for most YA readers.

I do have to admit that the book du to its simple writing is a quick read for most readers.

In conclusion, I didn't enjoy this book and I don't comprehend the creation of it. Because why would you create a book with reused themes if it isn't in any way shape or form unique.

"The Temperature of Me and You" was, without a doubt, an absolute delight. Between the fantasy-like science fiction and the romance, Zepka’s story contained a plethora of heartfelt moments. The conspiracy and mystery were great, yet the development within the characters’s relationships proved the most satisfying. Whether with family, friends, boyfriends, or enemies, the formula for a stable relationship is often far more complex than that of any chemical compound. Speaking of which, the consistent references to chemistry and other science throughout the book were an unexpected but charming surprise. As well, the queer space Zepka created for his characters wasn’t a narrative that focused on coming out but that merely included it. Dylan and Jordan weren’t lost in the personal crisis of coming to terms with their sexuality amidst the other conflicts the plot threw at them. Instead, the main protagonists lived, relatively, confidently and comfortably in their queerness. Self-acceptance and self-realization were given a place in the story, just regulated to secondary position which supplements the story by contrasting Dylan and Jordan’s fairly normalized homosexual relationship.
Zepka’s epically hot teen romance is certainly worth recommending! Superheroes can come from all places, so why not two gay teens in Philadelphia? The adventure, suspense, friendship, and love made this a great read. Dylan’s quirky, witty, and wonderfully relatable narrative was truly a pleasure. Every sweet, affectionate moment between Dylan and Jordan plays on mental repeat, desperately wishing to be reread and swooningly discussed. I loved this book! Go read "The Temperature of Me and You" right now and you won’t be disappointed.

My first qualm with the book was that we start mid-scene, which I will admit I have rarely been a fan of in literature. I think too many writers have studied at the feet of the David Mamet school of writing that in medias res is the best place to start. In plays, this may pay off, but I think it is more off putting in a novel where we are receiving most of our understanding from the interior 0f a character and descriptions.

Then we are hit with dated stereotypes of cheerleaders and gay boys as ditzy airheads who don't achieve well in school because either they are not smart or they do not care. If we are attempting to expand the base of kids who read, I think we should (and mostly have) move past the point where we say certain types of people are not/do not want to be smart.

But what really has led me to the definition to DNF the title is that the book is scattered. I do not see the problem other negative reviews have pointed to that the first half of the book is slow. Instead, I struggle with the fact that this is a propulsive read, but I am 18% in with little understanding of how the rest of the plot will progress. If it were just a novel shrouded in page-turning mystery, that would be fine, but The Temperature of Me and You seems to just be woefully unedited to provide structure and to eliminate the more vapid early narrative choices of a debut author.

The Temperature of Me and You by Brian Zepka is an amazing up-and-coming young adult LGBTQ+ novel with sci-fi elements. The book follows our main character, Dylan Highmark, after he meets Jordan, a boy with a weird secret: he runs hot, literally. When Dylan himself starts being affected by these powers, chaos ensues and the boys are confronted by Jordan's mysterious past.

This book was a great, wholesome read. It had the action and thrill of an amazing science fiction, with the awkwardness and heart-warming sentiment of a high school romance. I also found that the background characters in the book weren't too distracting from our main boys. Dylan's two best friends and a lower-level antagonist, a mean girl from their high school, are central to the plot of the story, but their side plots aren't too overwhelming.

I would have loved more information about the history of Jordan and his powers. The information we got was enough to understand the main conflict, but there was no more to answer any other questions the reader might have.

Overall, I loved the book and I thought it is an amazing, LGBTQ+ representative, sci-fi book for a young audience, something I will be very glad to see on the shelves. Also, I absolutely love the cover.

I had been very excited for this novel, lgbt sci-fi? sign me up! Despite this I found the sci-fi part of the novel very underdeveloped and I was left with many questions. The romance was also lacking to me and fell kind of flat.

The pacing was poorly done and and the writing style almost put me off this book multiple times. I think this book had a lot of potential that was overall wasted.

Overall a very fun read. The pacing is a bit off, but not enough to make you stop reading, while the blossoming romance and queer representation is fantastic. A solid entry into the YA bookshelves.

Upsetting. That's all I can say about this. Honestly, I guess it's fair to say I didn't give it the biggest change, I did dnf at 10%, but truly getting through this, even five more percent would have been an arduous deal that would have resulted in a slump that I have no urge to get into at the very beginning of the year. Regretfully, I am going to just not finish this book. The premise was so interesting! But the book itself felt so bland and I cannot force myself to finish, therefore I do not recommend this book. I also have to say that it made the characters so boring, so monotone. They didn't feel like actual school kids at any point and it's truly sad how much I couldn't relate, literally being a high school student in PENNSYLVANIA just like the characters.

I loved this book! It wasn’t at all what I was expecting and I couldn’t be more thrilled, what a fabulous debut novel. I’d like to start by saying this is not a YA Romance, yes there is a bit of a love story running through but it is by no means the star. The focus is on Dylan and his journey through everyday life as he’s faced with some changes, both ordinary and extraordinary. I loved his friends and their relationship, there were also some classic YA shenanigans that made me smile.

Zepka artfully creates more space in the genre for authentic LGBTQIA narratives without all the pomp and circumstance by giving us a genuine portrayal of a teenage boy’s life. In the end, this was a wonderful story about a boy who happens to be gay and how he handles the changes life brings.

Oh and that cover! Where needs to be a way to order prints of this book jacket, it’s fantastic.

Okay, well this book was absolutely adorable and a great start to my LGBTQ+ reads for the year! Part YA contemporary romance, part sci-fi, all precious awkward boys with superpowers? YES PLEASE.

I just really loved everything about this book. I loved Dylan’s character and how confident he was! Not to say that he wasn’t an awkward teenage boy, but he was so comfortable with himself and owned it, flaws and all. He’a the kind of person I would absolutely love to be friends with. Perry and Kirsten are lucky ladies!

And then there’s Jordan, who brings a new meaning to the word HOT. Literally. I fell in love with this boy at first sight. He’s the type of character that your heart just breaks for, and I wanted to wrap him up in a huge hug and tell him everything would be alright.

I thought the story was so interesting and, while I would have loved to dive a little deeper into the darker side of the conflict, I really loved this book!

A solid read, and promising for a debut, it makes me hopeful to see what the author does in the future to improve. There is nothing horribly wrong, simply that the plot and use of the premise could have been pushed a lot further.

I had high hopes from this novel. The blurb sounded very intriguing. Unfortunately I found the characters and plot to be forgettable. Perhaps it is my age, but I found many of the characters shallow and many of the problems and conflicts could have easily been resolved with clearer communication... or just communication in general. Our main character thought it wise to ignore his freinds on multiple occasions just to avoid facing conflcit.
I also was not very invested in the relationship between Dylan and Jordan. It seemed way too instalovey for my liking. By the halfway mark I no longer cared for the mystery of Jordans power. Maybe if the story had focused more on that rather than high school drama I would have enjoyed this story more.
Dispite myself not enjoying this read, I am positive there are many that would enjoy it. Sadly I just feel like I could not connect with any of the characters which in turn took me away from the plot.
