This is such a fun series with wonderful characters. I love Millie and Lois as well as Millie's mischievous goats. The setting is idyllic and so well described that you want to plan a visit just to spend time with these characters. I learn a little more about the Amish and their communities every time I read one of her mysteries in this area. The writing flowed well and the murder, a cold case, was well laid out. There were just enough clues to keep you guessing but not giving the murderer away until the very end. I always look forward to Amanda Flower's books and this one definitely did not disappoint.

Another excellent edition to a wonderful series! Full of twists and turns that leaves you wanting more and enjoying each moment until the end when the killer is caught!

A cold case has Millie and Lois back on the hunt for a killer once again! Only this time, it seems that Millie may be the target that the killer is determined to take out! I love these characters as it is so much fun to have a couple of mismatched elderly ladies being the sleuths rather than some young person stumbling about. I only hope that I have the determination to live life to the fullest that both ladies exhibit and maybe a bit of Lois' outlandishness when I age to their levels. You'll love the characters in the book, including the two ornery goats that Millie keeps as pets. The plot is excellent and this one is the best yet as you were led to uncover the guilty party, but not too quickly and the reveal was perfect. I can't wait to see what Millie and Lois get into next!

For me, part of the appeal of the Amish Matchmaker Mystery series is the fact that it’s set in my area, so I enjoy the recognizable settings. However, I also love Millie and Lois, the crime solving duo who star in Marriage Can Be Mischief. Even though Lois is Englisch and Millie is Amish, they have been lifelong friends. I appreciate the portrayal of their longtime, cross-cultural friendship and the role it plays in this book. Lois is especially funny in this one! If you enjoy cozy mysteries with pastoral settings and entertaining female main characters of “a certain age”, then Marriage Can Be Mischief is sure to be a hit.

Thanks go to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this story and mystery. I love visiting the town. I like the 2 MC and them being friends for so long. It was also nice to get a quick visit with Aiden.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Millie and her bestie, Lois, are once again on the case after bones possibly related to a 40 year old mystery are unearthed. The sheriff seems to think it's an open and shut case, but Millie isn't convinced. Can she and Lois solve the clues and bring the real killer to justice? Or was the sheriff right all along.

So many twists and turns and red herrings that kept me guessing throughout the whole book. I wasn't sure what was gonna happen next. And I loved learning more about the Amish and their relationships with each other and with the English (non-Amish).
Definitely recommend.

Many thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

Amish matchmaker Millie and her best friend non-Amish Lois are investigating a forty-year-old cold case in Marriage Can Be Mischief.

When buggy maker Samuel Zook is found murdered in his buggy, the obvious suspect is his abused wife Gali. But when Gali’s skeleton is found nearby forty years later, Millie and Lois decide to reopen and solve the mystery.

I love both of the Amish series by this author. The characters are so realistic that they feel like old friends. The mystery could have used a few more obvious clues of the murderer’s identity. However, overall, Marriage Can Be Mischief is a compelling read. 4 stars!

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review.

Millie is truly excited when a friend that she grew up with returns to Harvest. Uriah stayed away for decades and she didn't think she would ever see him again. Now after spending a little time with him she feels like there might be something between them. She begins to worry when he doesn't show up for an event they were going to or even his job. Millie soon learns she has reason to worry because he's at the police station. She learns that while filming a crew discovered a skeleton and that Uriah thinks said skeleton is his sister. You see his sister disappeared right before he left town and the police thought she ran because she killed her husband. Uriah wants to learn the truth and Millie is happy to do what she can to help him find answers. Will the two find the answers they seek or will it all remain a mystery?

This is the third in the series. It has an older woman, around 60, who happens to be an Amish widow and matchmaker. She and her non-Amish friend, Lois are very inquisitive people. A skull is found in a ravine and Uriah Schrock is sure it is his sister. He asks Millie to look into the disappearance of his sister.

Thus was a great story with well-written characters. I enjoy visiting the Amish community. This is a standalone story but more background information can be gleaned from the previous books but is not necessary to enjoy this story.

I was given an advanced copy from Netgalley and am not required to leave a positive review.

This is an Amish Cozy Mystery, and this is the third book in An Amish Matchmaker Mystery series. I found the main character in this book to be so much fun to follow. I love an Older Amish woman that is nosey, and she is trying to figure out what is going on. I also love the goats in this book. I have not read the other books in this series, but I will have to go back to read them. This is a fun book with great characters. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Kensington) or author (Amanda Flower) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Welcome back to Harvest, Ohio. Our favorite Amish Marple, Millie Fisher is back to solve another murder. A skeleton was found by Uriah Schrock’s house. Coicindnetally, his brother in law was murdered forty years ago, and his sister went missing the same time. People think she murdered him and left town to become English. But did she? Millie sets out to find the truth.
This is the third book in the cozy mystery series “An Amish Matchmaker Mystery”. It is also a spinoff of the “Amish Candy Shop Mystery” Series. You do not need to read the other books in order to enjoy this one. However, I think you will love the other books in this series!
I want to thank the author, Kensington Books and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own

Author Amanda Flower delights again with MARRIAGE CAN BE MURDER, the third Amish Matchmaker Mystery. This time around protagonist Millie finds herself caught up in a cold case. Forty years ago, everyone assumed that Gali Zook reached a breaking point with her abusive husband and killed him then ran away to be English. Her brother Uriah never believed that and has spent decades grieving, hoping to find his sister. When an old skeleton is discovered in a ravine, it is no surprise to Uriah that the remains do indeed belong to Gali. He implores Millie to help find answers to this long ago mystery. With the help of her sidekick Lois, Millie does all she can to get to the truth of the night Samuel and Gali died.

I do so enjoy this mystery series. I adore Millie and appreciate that she is a curious, intelligent, vibrant older sleuth. The mystery is engaging, but it is the relationship between Millie and Lois that keeps me coming back for more. These women could not be any more different from each other, but they make a great team, and their love for each other shines. Even though the murder and disappearance happened decades ago, there are several suspects, friends, coworkers, and law enforcement available for Millie to investigate. The clues are judiciously doled out, and I was taken by surprise by the killer’s identity. It is indeed a satisfying read.

This series is a spinoff of Flower’s Amish Candy Shop Mystery series, and it is fun when characters cross over from one series to the other, but the Matchmaker books can definitely be read independent of the Candy Shop books (I highly recommend both series). MARRIAGE CAN BE MURDER provides a nice balance of Amish and English characters and customs, quirkiness and real world, and humor and mystery. I cannot wait to spend more time with Mille.

Highly recommended!

I received an ARC of this title from the author and Kensington Books and voluntarily shared my opinions here.

Marriage Can Be Mischief by Amanda Flower is the 3rd book in an Amish Matchmaker Mystery series and another great addiction. This series is connected to the Amish Candy Shop Mysteries, another series I enjoy. Millie Fisher is a quilt maker and matchmaker in Harvest Ohio. Millie's childhood friend returns to Harvest, after decades, she is concerned when he goes missing. Millie and her best friend Lois, who is not Amish, find him with the police, and they must work together to clear his name. I love their friendship. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I enjoy all of Ms. Flower's series. I highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed is you like Cozy mystery books.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Millie Fisher is a quiet Amish matchmaker who lives in Harvest, Ohio. Her life-long best friend is Lois, who is neither Amish nor quiet. In fact, she is rather loud both in word and in wardrobe.

The two ladies are an unlikely duo of investigators, but they are always snooping around when murder occurs.

In this story, the murder is not recent, which makes it very difficult to investigate. The police had long since closed the case, when some evidence comes to light.

Millie and Lois have to fight to get the case re-opened and, of course, that means they have to do a lot of snooping. The problem is that snooping can be dangerous, even life-threatening.

Relationships progress and change in this story. I suggest reading the earlier books in the series to understand, fully, where these individuals stand with regards to each other.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.

Marriage Can Be Mischief is the third book in the Amish Matchmaker Mystery series by Amanda Flower.

Millie has a lot going on - quilting, matchmaking, worrying about her friend Uriah, helping her, and investigating a decades-old murder.

For me, when something happens to a character and I’m concerned about them because I forget this is a book, that is a sign it is a good book. I really like the friendship between Millie and Lois. It is nice how Millie always looks for the good in others, even the people that are challenging. I love the 2 goats and the trouble they get into.

Thank you to the author, Kensington, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

An Amish/English duo who are best friends, and solve mysteries! I'm not sure how well it could work in real life, but it works for this story. :) Definitely a different type of Amish story, which is great!! I get tired of the same old plots... An unexpected ending for me, as I thought something else might happen, but it turned out well.

Millie Fisher knew something was amiss when her old friend, Uriah Schrock, didn’t show up to work for one of the Friday night Harvest concerts series events. Uriah is always reliable, and his absence concerns Millie. Even more troublesome is the news that he’s planning to leave Ohio and return to Indiana, news he hasn’t shared with Millie despite their friendship. Unfortunately, Millie’s worries are well founded as a skeleton is found in Harvest, right near the same location where Uriah’s sister disappeared 40 years ago… and where his sister’s husband was found murdered that same night. Millie is determined to help Uriah uncover the truth, even if it costs her everything.

MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF is the third book in the Amish Matchmaker mystery series and it’s always a delight to return to Harvest, Ohio! MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF can be read as a standalone, although readers already familiar with the characters will likely appreciate the emotional impacts of the story line a bit more than new readers. The Amish Matchmaker mysteries also slightly intertwines with the Amish Candy Shop mysteries, and we see some guest appearances from characters in MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF. I love both series, although I have to admit that the Amish Matchmaker series is quickly becoming my favorite of the two, especially when we get guest appearances from Jethro the pig.

I love Millie! Her down to earth manner is such a delight and couples nicely with her odd choice in pets (her two troublesome but oh so endearing goats). Her friendship with Lois Henry, an Englischer, is both entertaining and informative. Their cultures are very different and yet friendship bridges their two worlds in both a fun and beautiful way. We really see the strength of their friendship in MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF, when Millie’s own life is at risk. And besides, I love Lois’ nickname for Millie, too, as she calls her the Amish Marple!

Once again, Amanda Flower has a hit on her hands! MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF is both entertaining and emotional, offering readers an enjoyable mystery with some fabulous moments of hilarity. I don’t typically read books about the Amish but Amanda Flower has made me a fan of her series as she showcases the interactions between the Amish and the Englisch with engaging mysteries that keep me reading well past my bedtime. MARRIAGE CAN BE MISCHIEF is sure to be well loved by cozy mystery readers!

Marriage Can Be Mischief by Amanda Flower is an entertaining cozy mystery. While it is the third book in An Amish Matchmaker Mysteries, it can be read as a standalone. You will be missing out two amusing stories though. I love that we get an older protagonist in this series along with her over-the-top sidekick. Millie Fisher is a delight and so is her best friend, Lois. These two are complete opposites in appearance. Millie and Lois are a hoot. That Lois is something else. I love that Lois calls Millie “Amish Marple.” Millie’s goats are amusing. I love that Millie takes Peter and Phillip for walks. I can just see Millie on her red bike with her two mischievous goats following along. Those two rotten darlings are Millie’s furbabies. It is always a pleasure to visit Harvest, Ohio. It is a charming town with a mix of Amish and Englisch. I like that the characters from An Amish Candy Shop Mysteries make an appearance like Margot and Deputy Little. I keep hoping the sheriff of their town will get ousted. I wish Aidan had run against him in the last election. The mystery has a documentary crew finding a skull in a ravine. It relates to a cold case that is forty years old. Millie’s friend, Uriah Schrock has been searching for his sister, Galilee Zook for forty years. She disappeared the same night her husband, Samuel Zook was found dead. Uriah never believed the rumor that Galilee killed her husband or that she went Englisch. Millie and Lois begin asking questions in the hopes of discovering what happened to Uriah’s sister. Someone is not happy with Millie’s meddling and decides to stop her. I had a good time following along on Millie and Lois’ investigation. You never know what Lois is going to do or say next. While I had no problem identifying the guilty party, it did not diminish my reading pleasure. I like how the case wrapped up. I appreciated the epilogue at the end of the book. I hope we get many more An Amish Matchmaker Mysteries. Marriage Can Be Mischief is an amusing whodunit with gamboling goats, a troubled brother, a broken buggy, a missing sister, a friendly filmmaker, an unsupportive sheriff, a colorful coiffure, and an Amish sleuth.

The discovery of a skull reignites the investigation of a forty-year-old murder mystery.

Marriage Can Be Mischief-The Mystery

Two filmmakers are in Harvest, Ohio, to film a documentary about a forty-year-old unsolved murder. Samuel Zook, while driving his wife Galilee home from work, was stabbed in the neck with a knitting needle. Galilee vanished and the sheriff theorized Galilee had stabbed her husband and then ran off to start a new life in an English (non-Amish) community.
Not everyone in the community believed Galilee was a murderer. Uriah Schrock, for one. Uriah is Galilee’s brother and Millie Fisher’s childhood friend. He’s returned to Harvest in hopes that Millie will help him find out what really happened to his sister all those years ago. Millie is determined to find out the truth and someone is equally determined to keep forty-year-old secrets buried.

Marriage Can Be Mischief-The Read

Millie Fisher and Lois Henry are an unlikely duo. Millie is Old Order Amish; she wears a prayer cap, drives a buggy instead of a car, and doesn’t like to draw attention to herself. Lois, on the other hand, has purple and red spiky hair, wears chunky costume jewelry, and brightly colored clothes. But their friendship is one that began in childhood some sixty years ago and is as solid as they come. These two know without a doubt they can depend on each other no matter what and the fact they come from such different backgrounds has never mattered. It’s a rare friendship and one that makes the books in this series work. A strong cast of supporting characters inhabits these books, adding to the draw that is Harvest, Ohio. Flower’s superb writing brings these characters to life, while giving the reader a difficult puzzle to solve.
