Thank you #Netgalley.

This was an amazing first hand look at the life of a transplant physician. Working in healthcare and most recently with a transplant department, I found Dr. Weill's perspective enlightening. I have worked closer with the surgeons and did not realize all the work done behind the scenes both pre and post transplant. I was happy to see the progress and self awareness by Dr. Weill about his wellness and recognizing the need to step away. This is something many struggle with, though hospitals and companies are now creating wellness departments we are still strides away from changing the culture.

Thank you for the advanced copy, I thought I had posted a review but must have been mistaken.

Excellent, thought provoking read, amazing detail and the personal stories are a great addition.

Exhale: Hope, Healing, and a Life in Transplant by David Weill, MD was a very enjoyable memoir about life as the head of a transplant team and how it affects your life and that of your patients. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dr. Weill's memories of how he (accidentally) became involved in the field of lung transplants and came to head up the transplant teams at several major hospitals during the course of his 20 year career. It was fascinating to read about the toll it took on him and his family as he took calls in the middle of the night to alert him that lungs had just become available for one of his patients, how the camaraderie among the team can make or break it, how difficult it is to have a life/work balance, and how burnout affects doctors.

I also enjoyed the patients' stories, both the successes and the failures, although some were just heartbreaking. Thank you to the author, Post Hill Press and NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Very good insight on the transplant process. I enjoyed the patient’s stories tremendously. The author’s presentation held your interest throughout the book. I never realized all that goes into this process. Thank you Dr. Weill for making this area your life work. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.

This was an interesting read, information I would have never known or thought. I think the most emotional aspect of the book were the stories about the people themselves and I found them riveting, though provoking and emotional.
