An absolute fun book. It's fast paced, action packed, have lovable characters (they're all good in their own way), and great dynamics. The adventure is very enjoyable. I love it

A beautiful and very entertaining story of fantasy, adventure, friendship and loyalty highly recommended for children of all ages! And in every adventure there is a lesson to be learned.

Based on the cover and description I thought this was pitched as MG. It is NOT MG (it includes the words f*** and d***) so definitely not for children, unless you're cool with that.

And yet the storytelling and characters felt very juvenile. I personally just could not click with anything. The interruption in the middle to suddenly explain that the pivotal character is a girl along was just disconcerting and unnecessary. It's got so much happening that it's hard to focus on the actual story taking place.

If you're someone who likes non-stop, full-on action then give this one a go. Personally I just could not get into it. I would recommend the reading age 14+

Hazelhearth Hires Heroes by D.H. Willison is a solid fantasy adventure. It's a lot of fun to explore the world of Sam and Lee as they explore and become acquainted with their new world. It's full of culture shocks and also quite a few things that are surprisingly familiar. The summary and cover art alone was enough to make me want to read this and I'm certainly lucky to have had the chance. That said up think I was expecting a little more from this novel. At times, this novel could at time be a little jarring. I know that Sam and Lee are supposed to be from 19th century America, but I had to constantly remind myself of that aspect of the story and unfortunately that took me out of the story a little too often. I might have been looking for something that reminded me a Littleton more of the Spells, Swords, & Stealth series by Drew Hayes which is one of my favorites. Overall, this novel is a fun, quick read with a lot of potential to be great, but it never quite reaches that level.
