Wow if your looking for your next great read then look no further!! I absolutely loved this storyline and I was hooked from the first page. I finished this book in less than 24 hours as I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I love how it is told from different perspectives as well as throwing in a bit of the past. I felt like this book had a wonderful ending and tied up everything but I am wondering if we will see another book with the epilogue. I highly recommend this book although I would say there is a trigger warning for sexual assault. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced read.

Ooh I just loved The Chalet! The writing flowed well. There were really no loose ends. I loved the first person perspective from various characters. I loved piecing things together. I think this is one of those books that I’ll be thinking about for a long time. It was a quick read and I can’t wait to read more books from Catherine Cooper! I highly recommend and am giving The Chalet 5 stars!!!

In 1998, Will and his brother Adam are on a ski trip with their girlfriends. After a ski accident, one brother is found alive while the other brother is missing and presumed dead. In 2020, present day, four couples gather together at a French ski resort for business meetings and skiing. When an avalanche uncovers a dead body, the brother is called in to identify his brother who had disappeared. The story goes back and forth between the past and present storylines and while the story kept my interest I did not find it particularly gripping and I couldn’t find a single character to like.

A gripping thriller, that reels you in early on. Catherine Cooper, writes with the same fast-paced intensity as an energy fueled sky dive . Alongside its central murder/mystery, The Chalet offers an intimate look at the convoluted relationships of friends who find out what happens when the truth becomes inescapable.

This was an easy read and it the writing style was done well . The chapters were fluid and made it easier to keep on going late into the evening .

Highly recommend .

You won’t want to put this one down. It’s full of suspense, thrills and chills!

I couldn’t put this book down, I read it in one sitting despite starting this book after 10pm one night. Overall, the plot keeps you hanging on, eager to know more about where the story is going. It does not disappoint and anyone who enjoys easy reading mysteries should read this book.

The book begins flipping back and forth between the first person of a resident of La Madière in 1998 who has lost his two clients on a particularly low visibility day on the slopes and the first person of Ria, a guest in a ski chalet on vacation with her husband and some friends in 2020. One morning, Cass goes missing and Ria is awoken by her husband to help look for her. Cass is eventually found, but the book shifts it’s tone when a body is found on the slopes.

The story soon shifts into the back story of the two missing clients in 1998. The two brothers were staying in the chalet for a ski trip with their respective girlfriends and chose to do a guided run off-piste.

The book is divided into multiple sections, which only adds to the suspense. The author does an excellent job of keeping you hanging about what is to come, and the writing is illustrative enough to feel like you’re watching everything unfold.

There is an introduction of a mystery narrator as time goes on, which is a touch confusing at first but the pieces align as the story unfolds more. With some big twists, the book ends leaving you wanting more in the best way.

This tale of revenge set in France goes back band forth in time and features some of the same characters in both time periods. The suspense is ruined by the lack of character in almost every character. These people are so unlikable I did not care what happened to them Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for a honest review.

Told in alternating timelines from 1998 and from 2020, this story takes place at a beautiful ski resort in La Madiere, France. In 1998 the Cassiobury brothers, Will and Adam, arrive with their girlfriends for a ski holiday at the resort. Will and Adam hire a guide to go skiing but something terrible happens and only one of the brothers survives. In 2020 we return to the same ski resort where a group of people meet for a holiday and an avalanche occurs. This leads to the discovery of a dead body. Is it one of the brothers? Are any of the guests linked to the victim?

I really enjoyed this fast paced mystery. I liked the different timelines and the alternating points of view. It kept it interesting enough for me to keep reading late into the night. The vivid description of the setting was icing on the cake. I would recommend this book if you like a quick and easy read. I will be looking into Catherine Cooper's future works!

Many thanks to NetGalley and Harper 360 for providing me a copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book was great fun! It primarily takes place in the current time where 2 couples rent a ski chalet. Ria and Hugh are trying to entice Simon into a business partnership with them, and Simon has also brought along his wife, baby, and nanny. You then get flashbacks to 22 years ago where 2 brothers had a disastrous run at the same resort, resulting in the death of one. And finally, you get interspersed chapters from an unknown narrator.. The book is fast-paced, with each storyline being interesting on its own along with the added "work" of trying to figure out how they all fit together.

I don't want to give away any of the story, but suffice it to say that the author did a great job tying everything together and providing suspense throughout. While not all characters were likeable, they all had depth and I could easily picture what it would like to be in a conversation (or staying in a ski chalet) with any of them. Lastly, the description of the resort and the chalet were vivid and made them easy to picture as I read.

That's all I'll say, but will end with a recommendation of the book- I stayed up almost all night to finish it because it was impossible to put down before I knew what secrets everyone was holding. I haven't read another book by this author, but am going to check out her other titles. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
