This was absolutely adorable. I loved the excuse to read a bunch of little kiddo arcs while pregnant and I will enjoy picking them up in stores.

Animal Colors
author: Nikolas Ilic
Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books, Happy Yak

Nature is full of beautiful, bright colors, including the animal kingdom! Nikolas Ilic has authored a delightful, vibrant children's board book that teaches not only color, but also vocabulary of animal names and the sounds they make. Eleven captivating colors are introduced, along with two animals to represent each one. Children learn by repetition, and this book has sentences repeated with only the color and animal words changing as each new shade is introduced.
Several critical components of children's early oral language, pre-reading, and pre-writing development are covered: vocabulary, sentence formation, describing words, memory, and sequencing. Early readers can practice reading themselves, and younger children can listen to the reader and then repeat. The bright, engaging, and intriguing animal pictures are sure to make children want to talk about them, thus enhancing verbal expression skills. We know that children also love to make animal sounds! A nice summary of the colors and creatures is included at the end for that "oh so important" review time.
Educators, parents, and families need to grab this book for its entertainment and educational value. It's perfect for bedtime, school time or just anytime. As a retired speech-language pathologist, I feel it is excellent for early childhood teaching, interventions, and therapy sessions. Even though I already know my colors, I just can't stop looking at these clever and cute pictures myself. I know that young children will love this book.

Thank you to Net Galley, Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books, Happy Yak for the advance reader's copy and the opportunity to provide my unbiased review of Animal Colors.

I enjoy the illustrations and creativity of Nikolas Ilic's books. Animal Colors uses cute and humorous drawings and bright colors to teach children their colors through two animals for each color. At the same time that it teaches young learners colors, it is also teaching various sounds of animals such as the 'ribbet' of a frog or a 'quack' of a duck. I appreciate the combination, so that children are exposed to more than just color theme in the book. As an educator, I really enjoy this author's books.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The pictures in this book were so funny. Like the animals reminded me a lot of grumpy adults rather than animals (some not all). Taught colors and animals sounds in funny and engaging ways. Adults will like as much as kids.

This is a simple book that includes, colours, different animals and the sounds they make. When I read this with my granddaughter, she made the sounds of the animals. She knew the names of all but one of them and we enjoyed this quick read. She made me read it to her little brother when they came to pick her up and she "read" it with me. He enjoyed mimicking the sounds she made and of course had his favourite, the donkey. He "Hee-Hawed" for several hours after we finished reading it, twice. The illustrations are cartoonish, done in bright, vivid colours that added interest to him. I definitely recommend this cute book for toddlers to learn not only their colours, but the names and sounds of some familiar and not-so-familiar animals.

Animal Colors is a vibrant book introducing young children to colors. Each page features a brightly colored animal and the sounds they make. It's a fun book, but I didn't really like the illustrations. Some of the animals seem a little weird or scary.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC.

Yet another fundamentals (letters, numbers, colors) winner from Nikolas Ilic! Parents, educators, and librarians, keep that name on our your radar, because these books are consistently awesome!

This book is just so enjoyable--each color is illustrated through two goofy, adorable animals and includes an accompanying sound for interaction. The illustrations are just so bright and amusing, I know they will be endlessly engaging for young readers.

Buckle up, because I'm certain you're going to be reading this one A LOT! Fortunately, it's so cute I can't imagine it ever getting old.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This is a brilliant children’s book. Venture on a journey through colours while exploring different animals. The illustrations are stunning and really fun. We enjoyed reading this together. I loved the contrast of the two levees of each colour too.

Naming two animals of each color and giving some onomatopoeia for animal sounds, this is a fun board book to help kids learn animals and colors.

My daughter loved the book. Her favorite animal was the crab that went snap snap. I on the other hand didn’t like the art. Otherwise the interactive way for kids too learn colors and the animals was a good concept.

This is a great book for little ones to learn both colors and animals. My 2 year old son and I read it and he loved all the animals and I think it is great he can learn to associate different animals with their respective colors. The Illustrations are wonderful too.

Review to come July 23rd on blog/goodreads.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

A bit confused as Amazon states these three books (Animal ABC, 123 Animals, and Animal Colors) to be released on 20th of July while Netgalley suddenly changed the date to August. I am just going to adhere to the old date and the one that Amazon states.

This is the third book in the series and instead of numbers or ABCs we get colours! All the colours! And of course, as expected given the other books, animals. From yellow lions to orange foxes to black panthers! We even get two animals per colour. I was very surprised (in a happy way) about that. I thought maybe one per colour, or maybe even a group of animals. But no, we get tons of animals and also their sounds! Well, at least one of the two animals per colour has a sound. The other just looks adorable/cute/menacing/like he hasn't had a snack in a few hours. I really liked which animals were picked and had fun flipping the pages to see what colour and what animal would be next!

I loved that we ended on rainbow and even got a overview on all the animals featured along with some text.

The art was really really fun, but I guess you all know that given I have written two other reviews for this series. Haha, but I have to keep mentioning it, because it really is great.

I hope that this illustrator/author makes more children's books like this. They are cute, pretty, and educational. Oh, and also often quite funny due to the faces or due to something else. I would highly recommend these books to all! Kids and adults will love these colourful books!

This guy... I don't think I ever gave a simple counting book five stars before the one from this creator, and now he has a board book concerning colours, and damn it, it's going to be another full house. Every double-page spread has an animal of a certain colour, and the simple little bits of text liken that to another critter of the same hue. "A moose is brown. Brown like a..." - well, that would be telling. You get the gist. But the great thing is the second animal is always the more vocal, or more associated with a sound effect, and blow me but we're just going to have to learn our colours, and our animals, and have fun with joining in on the sound effects.

Not only that – I would have strong jealousy for anyone who gets this artist to design their picture book. His frogs are priceless, and once again he is a master at giving animals unexpected eyebrows – this time a flamingo, of all things. He's just a shade off the Flanimals series in giving cartoonish character through high-art-meets-cartoonish design, and he's great. As is this series of books for the kindergarten.
