Cthulhu as a love interest intrigued me, so once I saw the title I knew I had to read it. The time jumps seemed a bit abrupt and yanked me out of the story each time, but aside from that, I enjoyed it. The story wasn’t quite what I’d expected, and the opening scene confused me at first. The characters were interesting and the story hooked me enough I kept reading. I think there’s room for improvement in some areas, but overall it was an enjoyable read.

I never read love stories, like EVER! But I’m a sucker for a good Cthulha story, so I thought I would give this one a go.

Before I get into it, I know what you are thinking, and no, none of the characters sparkle in the sunlight! lol

I was pleasantly surprised, for a Cthulhu story not written by Lovecraft, it has a very similar feel to his work, (which is not always the case).

The story has human sacrifice, a mysterious cult, impending doom, and a few sex scenes, and of course a love story, but there is a bit more to it than just a boy meets girl, which I will not go into as it would spoil the story.

I’d recommend this book If you’re looking for a modern Cthulhu Mythos story, with a true Lovecraft feel to it.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm very familiar with the lore of Cthulhu from Lovecraft and adopted by others. Making the ancient one into a person who then falls in love with a woman was quite original. It was a fun, quick read. While I'm not a fan of sequels (or trilogies) I look forward to more from the author and Amanda's continuing adventures.

Also, one major error in the book (which no one seems to have caught) when Amanda is researching in the library and talking about her "talisman bag she sowed" (should be sewed). I sew and this jumped off the page at me.

I found this book to be an intriguing story and it was hard to put down. It was not, however, well written. Is this the final copy or will more editing be done? There are grammatical errors and the writing is just not great. For instance, at the beginning of the story, I was not sure if the main character who was telling the story was male or female or perhaps purposely gender neutral. Then it seemed like it was a female character that was poorly written by a man. The writing just seemed amateur and not professional, and parts of the story were not well fleshed out. I think that a professional author or editor might be able to help with that. I didn't leave an online review because the writing was just subpar, but the story itself was good. I gave it 3 stars on Goodreads. Thank you and good luck with this and future books.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of Cthulhu: A Love Story!!

I loved this book! It was everything I look for in a book. Mysterious gods, cults, a love story. So good! I read this book in one sitting because I could not put it down! One thing I wished for was more background information on the cult and maybe how the gate was discovered. Hopefully a sequel is in the works, because I was not okay with how this book ended.

I voluntarily received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

So... I kind of picked this book out just cause the title. I am a huge fan of Cthulhu lore so this was a need for me.

This definitely felt a bit like romance first, fantasy second and that was A-ok with me. And there was no tentacle sex! But there was definitely a few slighly steamy scenes.

The story randomly has flashbacks to what happened when they first met and I really would love to read that story as well! I wish more of the reveal at the ending was used throughout the story. It felt a tiny bit like nervous hapiness and romantic moments then boom cult members. But I honestly kind of liked this and would be super interested to read a sequel if that happened?
