ARC provided by NetGalley for an Honest Review

After the death of her sister, heroine Collie becomes the guardian of her ten year old niece. In order to provide her naive with a stable home they decide to move to the country outside of London. Little do they know the random small town is most assuredly the worst place in the entire country they could have chosen to move to. Everyone in the town is weird and there's a history of people going missing. It seems the majority of the town has resided there for generations and don't take well to outsiders.

Immediately I was sucked into the story and only felt disappointed that I let this sit on my TBR for so long. This was a great read for spooky season and while the plot wasn't overly original the attention to detail and characters made it more than enjoyable. There are a few LBGTQ characters which was nice to see, however personally I don't think the F/F sex scenes added anything to the story. I'm happy how things wrapped up as I wasn't sure where it was going or who would live. Really enjoyed this one!

i enjoyed this creepy book. The characters were pretty likable despite their disfunctions with all they had been going through. Pretty creepy read.

The best way I could describe this would be a creepy romance. I was going in expecting a horror story, but it was not that. Good read though!

Quiet Village was a good story. It was entertaining without being super exciting. There were definitely parts that were creepy. The town's atmosphere really set the vibe. Even though it was easy to guess the twists and turns it was good. The last bit of the book really picked up and got a bit more exciting. I enjoyed the characters and the writing as well.

The thing that threw me off (didn't hate but didn't care for either) was the romance portion. There was a lot of time wasted on just thinking and pining. It got a little old. I also wish there was a bit of background/further explanation on some things. Overall, I thought it was a good read.

This book wasn't what I expected unfortunately, and that's on me! I wasn't able to finish it. Requested it at the wrong time too, but I'm hoping I could read her other works eventually.

I was hoping for something a bit more on the horror side. I was a little disappointed as the story focuses more on a love interest. I still had a good time reading this book.

This was not really my cup of tea. For some reason I couldn't get into it, and I ended up not being able to finish it.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.

To start off, I have to say that I absolutely love horror. I love paranormal horror especially. That being said, this book was way more of a romance novel/thriller than a horror.

The connection between Collie and Emily was well done. I also liked the interactions between Collie and Lana. The setting was a fun setting and I feel that there was a lot of potential to really make it suspenseful and filled with horror, but again, I feel like the horror aspect of the book was way too light.

Another issue I had was with Lana herself. I feel like the author made her way too mature for a ten year old and made her seem rather, unemotional in regards to her mothers death. I have a ten year old and while he is rather mature for his age, he makes Lana seem like an adult.

Overall though, I did enjoy the book. It just was not what I was expecting it to be

I love horror and I love romance so when I saw this story I thought it could be the perfect read for me, combining two things I love. Only...this story fell way short of horror or romance for me. Most of the book seemed to be Collie or Emily thinking how much they like the other, but can't be with them because reasons. The same reasons. Again and again and again they thought the exact same thing. It got really old really quickly and I just wanted something, anything to happen other than them recounting yet again why they cannot want anything more than friendship with the other. I swear if you took out all of the passages that repeated the same thing in this regard you would be left with like 10 pages. Or that is the way it seemed to me. Intermixed with these "romance" scenes there were "spooky" scenes with some monster thing watching them all (Collie, Collie's niece Lana, and Emily). Something strange is going on in the town and this could have been really creepy, but it didn't work for me. Nothing really happened. It was a lot of telling not showing, there was no tension for me, I didn't really care about any of the characters as I didn't really ever know them or feel for them or anything. Overall it just didn't work for me. I wanted to see these two fall in love, and I didn't. I wanted to see the creepy fun of whatever is going on in the town and for the most part that felt like an afterthought. Until the last few pages nothing really happens.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book

I would give "Quiet Village" by Eden Darry a one-star review because, when reading the blurb, I was led to believe that this was manly a horror/paranormal with a little romance but while reading it was primarily a romance novel. I liked the aspects of the novel but I wish that the two genres were more balanced.

4,5/5
I loved a quiet village because it was a fast paced and really gripping story. It has twists and a lot of action and I was hooked and I couldn't put it down. Eden Darry creates a really complex and well written story and I enjoyed reading this book a lot.
Our main character, Collie, gets the custody of her 10 years old niece and she decides to move to this town where nothing is at it seems. There are rumors, whispers and the locals are not really welcoming. Collie gets to meet the new schoolteacher, Emily, who is also new in town and they are really drawn to each other since the beginning. However, Emily has secrets of her own and she has other motives to be in that town. Later on, we find out that there's a stalker that's not entirely human going after her and her niece. I have to admit the plot is absolutely perfect. Quiet village, newbies in town, main characters with secrets, twisting moments, some creepy ones.... everything about quiet village is atmospheric and really well developed and I can't recommend this book enough. Such a fantastic read!

Collie Noonan and her niece move to the small village of Hyam in hope of a new start after the death of Collie's sister. However, the village is far from friendly and even a little hostile towards outsiders. Emily Lassiter recently moved to the Hyam village and started working as a teacher while looking for answers regarding her bother's disappearance. He said there was something wrong with the village and Emily won't stop until she discovers the truth. But something is stalking the newest outsiders, something not human. Will they be able to able to discover the secrets of the village and escape?

I love this author and I knew the book wouldn't disappoint. However, I did find it a bit slow and hard to get into at the beginning. That said, the mystery involving the village and the way she writes and keeps you wondering what will happens next makes this a great and interesting book.

The book delivers a great story that keep unfolding as you read, where while there is romance, it is not the central theme. The characters were interesting and very real. It was overall a great read, especially for a fall rainy day.

I really enjoyed this fantasy/horror/mystery/romance! I thought the suspense built really well with the question being who or what is watching Emily and Collie, what will they do next to intimidate (or harm) them, and just what is going on with the tiny village of Hyam.

Reading the blurb, I sort of wondered how a romance would work in this situation, but I thought it was done well with the reasons to come together and, more importantly, the reasons to pull back, all making a lot of sense with the story line. Emily and Collie were easy to root for because they were both level headed and cautious enough to know that when you are investigating monsters/are recently in custody of a traumatized 10-year-old it might not be the best time to date someone.

The one thing I didn't like was that the ending sort of magically comes together a little too smoothly. I with the characters that I had gotten to know had been able to be a little more self reliant, but oh well, it was still a fun and spooky book with a great romance

Quiet Village is a small-town horror novel that I absolutely loved. I don't know what it is about horror books that take place in a small town that I always enjoy. I think it's always partly because I'm from a small town and these types of books make them so much more interesting. The characters are awesome in this story. They are strong women who have no idea what they are doing but make things happen.

I can't wait to read more books by Eden!
