Last Girl Ghosted is a fabulous new release from Lisa Unger. I was hooked in the first 100 pages!
Following Wren, the story unfolds as Wren believes she is the victim of an unfortunate ghosting after falling in love with Adam. As details unfold, she begins to realize there may be more to the story than she initially believed and starts to fear that it may all be more sinister and linked to secrets she has fought hard to keep buried.
Highly recommended for all lovers of this genre, Last Girl Ghosted had me hanging on right until the very end. Each twist and turn in the story further heightened my hook!

Wren Greenwood has met the perfect man through the Torch dating app. She hadn’t been looking for love but the connection she makes with Adam Harper is immediate and deep. The two begin an intense relationship and Wren starts to open up to Adam but one day he leaves. He isn’t answering his phone, he isn’t on social media and his house is empty. But he HAS sent Wren a brief message to apologise for what he has done.

Wren is in turmoil. It sounds like a problem she would take to Dear Birdie – a podcast which helps people deal with difficult life events and offering advice on how to get their life back on track. Unfortunately for Wren she doesn’t have that option available as Wren IS Dear Birdie – a secret identity she has kept under wraps and that only her closest friend (her co-host) and a small, trusted production team know about. The podcast has been very good to Wren and she is financially more than comfortable but this wasn’t something Adam knew about.

While still struggling to come to terms with the fact she was ghosted by Adam, Wren has another shock to contend with. A private investigator wants to speak with her, he knows about Adam and Adam has history of using Torch to match with single women who are both vulnerable and financially well off. Wren is very much the type Adam would target and the fact this investigator knows about Wren’s wealth and her vulnerability suggests her secrets are not as well kept as she had believed.

Wren initially resists the urge to help the investigator but Adam is still out there and despite her determination to move on there is one question she cannot ignore: Has Adam finished with Wren? She receives messages from an unknown number, the instruction is clear – get rid of the PI and we can be together.

Can Wren trust a man that ghosted her? Is the investigator correct when he says Adam is not the man she knows and that he has been responsible for three other women vanishing? Does Adam know about Dear Birdie? Who to trust?

Lisa Unger has penned a great thriller with Wren’s dilemma at the heart of the story. At times Wren’s reluctance to just ditch the idea of Adam coming back to her infuriated the hell out of me. But Wren’s feelings for Adam just can’t be brushed off easily and she is confident the investigator is mistaken in his accusations. Lisa Unger balances Wren’s indecisions really well and you can’t help but sympathise with her position at times. Then more information slips out and you begin to question everything about Wren’s history and how she came to be where she is.

Domestic drama and a love that’s meant to be? Or creepy weirdo meets girl with too much to lose? You’ll want to keep reading to find out!

This novel started so well. It has an interesting premise and a plotline that really hooked me. Up until the halfway point my only complaint was that for some reason I don't like the author's writing style (it felt like a debut but isn't?). But then it just dwindled and the ending was straight up disappointing.

The night social media switched off, I was blissfully unaware as I was absorbed in this book.

Tense and thrilling from the first page, Lisa writes a fast paced thriller with a fascinating protagonist and an even more fascinating back story.

The story is seen through the narrative of Wren, a successful problem solver who decides to give love a go and sign up to a dating app called Torch where she meets Adam. They fall in love and then just as he’s about to ask her something important, he disappears.

Detective Bailey then comes into her life and is trying to find a man who matches Adam’s description involving three other women and Wren starts her own in investigation into his disappearance and ends up revisiting old ghosts and memories.

Thr story is also seen in a past sequence and this makes for interesting reading as it’s seen from the narrative of a child living in fear of a controlling father who’s obsessed about the end of the world. The innocence and the naivety of the child makes for poignant reading as they try to keep their father happy as well and keep their family together.

Wren is a great character, with a background in problem solving with a blog and podcast series called ‘Dear Birdie’, people write in with their problems and with her best friend called Jax they offer advice. She’s kind, sweet with secrets and thought that meeting Adam who was handsome, charismatic and promised her the dream would finally find her happy ever after.

‘Last Girl Ghosted’ is an interesting and dark twist on ghosting that’s cleverly written, addictive and atmospheric.

I have always enjoyed Unger's writing; she was one of the first authors I read when I was a teenager. So to get back into her writing now with The Confessions on the 7:45 and this novel was very exciting. This novel however, was not my favorite of her more recent novels. It was a bit slower to get started for me and then I found a bit of it lagged on, but once it gets started, it really gets going and was much easier to read. I enjoyed the main character and the trauma that she experienced as a child that tied the whole novel together. The last half flew by for me and I would say that if you enjoy her writing, you'll definitely find this worthy of a read.

Last Girl Ghosted by Lisa Unger is a haunting book about girls with a troubled past disappearing after meeting up with a man on Torch, a dating app.
Then Robin meets up with a man on Torch and she thinks he could the man she could fall in love with. He wants her to give up everything and go and live with him. Robin isn’t alone though she has a good friend in Jay and meets up with Bailey a private investigator looking for a girl who has gone missing. Other people from her past are also there to offer help and assistance.
An interesting storyline and an intriguing read.

I struggled SO MUCH with this book. Like, honestly it took me FOREVER to finish it, when in general I swallow books like this in like two days.
Everything in this book is paper thin. The man character - co naive despite being an advise columnist (a wildly successful one). The plot, which is so all over the place it's ridiculous. Just as the ending.
I don't know is it the writing style, or the fact that the protagonist was obsessing over a guy she knew for like three months, but something there just didn't click.

Wow this book blew me away - this is my first read by Lisa Unger and I loved it.

We meet the character Wren who wants to meet a partner, she signs up to a dating app and meets Adam. They meet and Wren falls head over heels for Adam. Their relationship is fast and you really can tell how Wren feels for Adam via the brilliant narrative. This story has so many layers and has really dark and deadly undercurrents.

The story starts to really unfold when Adam literally ghosts Wren, completely vanishes of the face of the earth and poor Wren starts to investigate Adam and is plunged into murky and dark depths. This book gripped me from beginning to end and I was immersed in finding out alongside Wren what and where Adam had gone and who he really was.

Lisa Unger's writing is captivating and I am so glad that I got chance to read this novel. Thanks to NetGalley, Lisa Unger and the publishes for allowing me a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I loved reading Last Girl Ghosted with its complex and absorbing plot. In a storyline that included some very dark themes including PTSD and guilt, I was mesmerised from start to finish. My first book by Lisa Unger, I was mightily impressed and I know I will be reading more from this talented author. A very worthy five-star novel.

An excellent read - dark and threatening. Where have all these women who’ve met Adam, disappeared to?
Mixed in with the mystery of the missing girls, we’re told the background story of his latest conquest/victim and the awful experiences of her young life.
The author puts across really well, the dangers and pitfalls of online dating and the risks we take when putting our lives out there on public platforms.
This really is quite a spine chilling story with an ending that will have you on the edge of your chair!

This is an intriguing premise, pulling together strands of online dating, the desire for a simpler life less in thrall to the computers in our pockets, the rise of the podcast, the murky possibilities of the dark web, romance, gorgeous rich young people in New York - but in my opinion it is a hot mess. Nothing was convincing, nothing felt authentic and I felt the ending/s were glib and pointless.

Fully prepared to admit that I (58F, retired sexual health specialist, quilter) am not the target market for a thriller about glamorous young people navigating adulthood for the first time. I don't mind a bit of wish fulfilment. But it's a no from me. Tens of thousands of people will love it.

I devoured this book and couldn’t put it down! This is one of the best books I have read this year!

Wren was a formidable female character that has endured struggles in her early life! After meeting Adam and falling in love, he ends up disappearing and ghosting her without warning. This begins a look back to Wren’s history and a game of cat and mouse.

Wren is, somewhat under duress, trying a dating app. She is not interested in a casual hook-up, but in this world how can you work out whether you are likely to get on with someone? When she meets Adam she’s amazed how easy it is. Things are going well. Then she reveals a dark secret from her past and she is ghosted.
In reality you’d move on and chalk this up to experience. In the world of the novel, there’s more to this story…and Wren is determined to work it out.
An investigator seeks Wren out, convinced she holds a key to finding a girl who’s gone missing. Adam is involved, but he’s known to the investigator by another name. There appear to have been others.
Even though we guess this won’t be a good idea, Wren cannot help but try to find out more. Very good at giving advice, she makes some stupid decisions. Knowing she’s harbouring her own secrets, it’s just a matter of time until we get to work out what she’s hiding, how it links to Adam and see just who will survive this encounter.
This was definitely an interesting idea. However, the pacing of certain details made it hard to fully engage with events. Once we know certain details about Wren’s past it makes her present behaviour even less likely.

Thank you NetGalley for this advanced copy. This book sounded amazing! I was super excited to read it after her release last year. This book took on some twists I didn't see coming, nor care for. The writing was good, but the ending was a huge letdown to me.

When she meets Adam it feels like the final piece of the puzzle is falling on to place. They are inseparable for three months until Adam disappears with no trace. As echoes of her horrific past invade her life today, can Wren be sure Adam is gone for good?

This is an intriguing premise for a thriller and it was easy to get in to the story right away. There are dual timelines to enjoy - snapshots of. Wren’s horrific childhood interspersed with her whirlwind romance with Adam and the aftermath of him ghosting her. There is plenty of brooding tension and foreboding in both timelines and it kept me guessing until the end - I had multiple theories as I read.through and the end was still a surprise. It’s a great read for fans of the thriller genre or anyone who has had an online dating disaster - trust me, you will better about your experience when you read “Last girl ghosted”!

This is a twisted and disturbing story; about family, love and mental health.
Wren, our main character, has started dating again but with not much luck until she mets Adam. He seems the perfect guy for her, charming, in love and with similar tastes to her. But, when 3 months after start dating he disappears, Wren doesn’t know what to think. Has she been ghosted or something has happened to Adam? Of course, when a PI appears at her door asking questions about Adam, Wren doesn’t know what to think and who to trust, so, she will start to search for the answers by herself putting her life at risk.
Wren seems a nice woman, but she has a past that conditions each one of her movements. I am not saying as a fault but a way to understand her and her thoughts; I really don’t think I would trust anyone after her past or act “normal” in any way.
As I said, this is a disturbing read; but a way to make the reader believe that we all have problems and a past and the only way to continue living is to confront our fears and be true to ourselves.
The story is told between two different story lines; the past with Wren childhood and the present how she has accepted her past and tries to be happy.
This is a slow paced story, because some things can’t be rushed and should be told in their own time.
Maybe you’ll love this book, maybe you’ll hate it; but it will make you think about different themes and how they can affect us and how we can help people around us with mental health issues.

This book was interesting - I liked the premise and I did get into the story and I liked how it flowed between the two different locations. It did make sense and answered a lot of the questions that I had at the beginning.
