Danger, intrigue, slow-build romance, steam, Witness Protection, a woman on the run, a cowboy protector, and the Holidays...what more could you need? Another excellent romantic suspense from Donna Grant. And there's a bonus story at the end.

Many thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

I received this book as an ARC thanks to Netgalley & the publisher. This is my honest review.

Suspense & Romance (with a Christmas backdrop!) I enjoyed this story. While it is a standalone, I'm glad that I had already read the other books in this series. Definitely recommend - perfect for a rainy/snowy evening this winter!

4.25 STARS

“Home for a Cowboy Christmas” is a surprisingly delightful holiday romance with a side of suspense thrown into the mix. It’s a quick, enjoyable read, perfect for any time of the year—not just the holidays!

I fell into insta-love with the charming Dwight Reynolds, the sexy ex-FBI-turned-rancher who is fiercely protective of Emmy Garrett--the woman he’s charged with keeping safe. As one might expect, I wasn’t the only one head-over-heels for Dwight. Very quickly, this charismatic cowboy won over Emmy’s heart, as well. But despite this couple’s burgeoning romance, danger lurks in the background, threatening to destroy any chance at lasting happiness. Will Dwight and Emma find their HEA? Or will they only ever have this one Christmas before it all gets ripped away?

This is the very first book that I’ve read by author, Donna Grant, and I really enjoyed her natural writing style and the story’s easy flow. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future.

t begins in a dramatic way and also has a dramatic ending too. I liked how quick it was to feel some of what Emmy was feeling as she is being hunted. It pulled me in right away. It was really clear right away that US Marshall Dalton Silva was one of the good guys. That made for a nice start. My mantra throughout the whole book though, was "please don't turn out to be a bad guy.".
The world building in this story was detailed and excellent. The author made it really easy for the reader to see and feel like they were at that ranch.
I can't end this without saying how much I liked both Dwight and Emmy. There wasn't one thing to not like about them.
The bonus story." Wish upon a Cowboy" was also a surprise and quite good. The emotions and all the feels were there. It was quite a full story for being a shorter one too.

" I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book through Netgalley, And these are my honest opinions about it.

It’s that time of year again where Christmas-themed romance books are everywhere, and I am so here for them all. However much I love Christmas books, I love romantic suspense even more. Put those two together, and you’d better believe I’m down to read it. That’s precisely what Donna Grant did in this book. It’s not overly sweet or heavy on Christmas. It’s actually quite heavy on the romance and suspense.

Emmy feels all alone in the world as she’s on the run from some terrible people and just hoping to live long enough to testify against them. Dwight just wants to work on his ranch and leave his past as a federal law enforcement officer behind. But when the guy who saved his life asks for a favor, he can’t say no. Along the way, she learns to trust him, and sparks fly even as the danger grows closer.

While I always love when a hero is a protector, I think my favorite part of this story was Emmy finally realizing how strong she truly was. And how she and Dwight saved each other in the end. The mental and emotional battle to get to that point made this story quite poignant and even more heart-warming.

On the run from people who want to kill her because of what she saw, Emmy, seeks refuge with a friend of the US Marshall that is her protector. When Emmy meets Dwight and his dog Sam, she feels safe, at least for the moment. Can he keep her safe from the people who want her dead, and from the growing attraction between them?

This book took me by surprise as it was truly a romantic suspense story. I guess I had been expecting another sweet Christmas story, and this was Not that. It was an engrossing story and one i thoroughly enjoyed. Emmy is under witness protection from the mob in Denver, but was almost killed when the mob found her. She managed to escape with one of the US Marshall’s. He took her to a friends ranch in Montana. Dwight had been FBI, and homeland security, but took over the ranch when his parents were killed. Emmy is a mess with PTSD, but very grateful to be hidden. Of course, she and Dwight get very close, so the romance is there. But the suspense of seeing what would happen to Emmy kept me reading as fast as I could. A very enjoyable story. Kudos to Ms. Grant

I like Donna Grant, both her paranormal and her cowboys. Home For A Cowboy Christmas was just my preferred amount of suspense and romance and enough Montana to make this Wyoming girl feel at home.

Emmy is in the absolute worse situation. She liked hobnobbing with the weather and idolized Denver society types so well, she let herself get too close to a master criminal and murderer. She’s followed her strong conscious and turned him in but leaks in the Marshall service have allowed the man who wants her dead to find her and nearly finish her. When the Marshall watching her takes her to his friend’s Montana ranch her odds of survival are looking a little better but still iffy. Dwight is not average rancher. Happily back, ensconced in the ranch he grew up on, he’s spent a full career in the military, FBI and Homeland Security. He’s a thoroughly trained bad a$$. Initially, it’s so quiet and calm, Emmy is able to relax slowly as the days drag on. She and Dwight find a rhythm and start to realize how much they like each other. Dwight’s sister is a breath of fresh air when she pops in. Ranch life is oddly satisfying to Emmy. She’s not one to sit still and soon has the house cleaned and organized before falling into the ranch bookkeeping. It’s a win win.

Of course, even Dwight’s ranch is eventually uncovered by the assassin on Emmy’s trail and life is disrupted again. Add to that a nasty blizzard and survival is looking pretty unlikely again. The action in this is intense!

The story has such a great mix of suspense, romance, great characters, great landscapes and intense situations. Grant again gives us a page turner.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martins Paperbacks for this ARC.

Where they are headed is the one place he knows she will be protected. Dwight's ranch. From the very first moment they met their attraction was palpable. The very first page of this book intrigued me, pulled me in, and made me want to find out more about Emmy.  This book was fast paced and kept my heart pounding as I knew something would happen.  Emmy was such a strong character with everything that had happened to her.  I admired her strength,  her courage,  and her acceptance of what could happen.I also liked Dwight and how protective he was of Emmy and how she came to take a place in his heart.  He was a strong, sexy cowboy with an interesting background that allowed him to be the perfect choice for Dalton, a US Marshall to rely on to keep Emmy safe.  I really enjoyed this book and the characters.  I am so glad there was an epilogue to finish the story.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

This book was a little too insta-love for me but I did enjoy the suspense aspect of it. I’m a sucker for a couple being stuck together in a house/cabin during a rough winter and this was a definite play on that trope but not in your usual “stormed in” way. This absolutely played out like a Hallmark Movies & Mysteries kind of story and if you’re into that kind of thing, I think you’ll enjoy this book.

Great romantic suspense!
This had everything I could have wanted:
- compelling mystery/suspense
- slow burn
- angst
- Christmas romance
- A + smut
I think the balance between the romance and the suspense plot was done well. I was never bored and was rooting for the characters while feeling the danger close in.
This is my first romantic suspense book from Donna Grant but for sure won’t be the last!

A cute romantic suspense story in the time of Christmas giving. Emmy needs help and Dwight is the one to step forward and extend a hand. But will romance fall to the background when danger appears? Will Dwight's sense of honour be betrayed or lifted?

Emmy Garrett saw something she wasn’t meant to see. Now she’s on the run from people who will stop at nothing to keep her from testifying against them. US Marshall Dalton Silva is tasked with her protection. After Emmy’s location is compromised for the third time Dalton knows it is time to take her off the grid.
In desperation, Dalton heads to the only man he trusts to keep Emmy safe. Dwight Reynolds is former FBI, former Homeland Security A ranch in Montana is the last place Emmy expected to find herself, terrified and unsure of who to trust, she’s barely holding herself together.
Dwight has been alone a long time, but the first time he sees Emmy his protective instincts immediately kick in. He’s determined that nothing is gong to get to Emmy on his watch. As the days pass, Emmy finds some of her terror subsiding. With Dwight’s strength beside her, and the calming presence of his dog, Sam, Emmy lets herself believe she just might survive long enough to testify. There’s a storm blowing in, though, and it’s bringing more than just snow
Neither Dwight nor Emmy is looking for a relationship but forced time together and the threat of danger draw them together. And then there’s Sam, the dog. He’s a work dog, a protector and important source of support. He became my favorite character. This is a stand-alone novel with all the romance and the suspense of the Heart of Texas novels. I highly recommend the newest western romantic suspense from one of my favorite authors.

Home For a Cowboy Christmas is a sweet, steamy close proximity suspenseful romance. The fact that it takes place over the Christmas season only adds to the appeal of the story. Emmy Garrett. Is in witness protection until she testifies against a murderer, that is if she lives long enough to testify. So she ends up at Dwight Reynolds’ remote Montana Ranch with him as protector. Both characters are strong, likable, and evenly matched. A romantic story with plenty of steam and suspense.

First of all Donna Grant has written several books with cowboys in several series but Home For a Cowboy Christmas is a complete stand-alone, unless . . . . she will expand this into a series. Also there is a bonus story with Home For a Cowboy Christmas.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Sweet romance. Emmy is running for her life after witnessing a murder. After she was nearly killed, her agent takes her on the run to Montana to hide out with a friend of his.

Former military and law enforcement, Dwight is now a full-time rancher. He doesn't hesitate to take Emmy in. The longer he is around her, the more he falls for her. For Emmy, Dwight is everything a woman could ask for in a man. Nearly dying has made her realize that she hasn't been living her life to the fullest. If she survives to testify, she may have a chance to find her happiness with Dwight.

Two books in one! Grant is the master at writing cowboys, especially protective exFBI guys. Right away Emmy is in protective custody with the Marshalls as a witness to a mob murder. Her handler takes her to Dwight’s ranch because they are friends but also because of his dedication to the country. Being put in such a position is just asking for a love match. Although predictable in love, it was organic in development. Dwight is definitely the unicorn of men and Emmy was lucky to catch him. The second story is a short novella. I’ve received an early copy and have written my review honestly.
