Such a lovely story about building relationships with love and caring while balancing expectations and romance.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

For a book that dives into single parenthood, sexual harassment, and child loss, Trish Doller manages to maintain a sense of uplift and hope throughout the story. Both protagonists, Rachel and Mason, are extremely likeable and throughout the book you root for their happily ever after.

This was the feel good book I needed in my life to cozy up with! I was expecting this to be emotional like Float Plan, and while there were sad parts, it felt a bit lighter.
Rachel is a bit broken. Mason is a bit broken. Together the bring out each other's light.
Rachel has been fired from her job managing a luxury hotel in Florida, it is her dream job and she is now left wondering what she is going to do for her and her young daughter. She still lives with her mom and her daughter's father is gone more than he's around, so when an opportunity presents itself to manage a new hotel in Ohio, she thinks maybe she needs to get out of her comfort zone like her sister did.
Once she gets there, she meets the owner, Mason, who is a bit of a loner and a lot of a grump. He also might have lied a bit to get Rachel there. What starts of as a reluctant friendship, leads them to finding their forever. It was so great to see Rachel grow as a person and a mom. She wasn't stuck and was thriving, making new friends, going to yoga, hosting book club; she just needed a bit of a change.
Thank you to Trish Doller, St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for an early copy!

In the acknowledgments, Trish Dollar admits that The Suite Spot could have been a very different book had 2020 not been a nightmare, and wow that explained why this book was such a lightweight in comparison to its angst-ridden sister book, Float Plan. Don't get me wrong, I really liked Float Plan, which is why I was expecting similar from The Suite Spot, which follows Rachel, sister of Anna from Float Plan, from a dead end life in Florida to Kelleys Island in Lake Erie. Here she's tasked with essentially building a hotel from scratch--her dream job, while hotel owner Mason works on his craft beer. The whole book is essentially interior decorating and beer tastings interspersed with some light discussion and parenting.

I...liked it? I did, I liked it. But it's a light, sweet story that kind of waves its hand at satisfying, meaty character arcs and presents to you a painting of bears dancing in the woods instead. There is very little conflict. Mason and Rachel agree on almost everything, their relationship slides into romance without much obstacle, and it's mostly idyllic until the climax of the novel comes along. That felt a bit contrived--since the whole book was such easy sailing. I would recommend this to people who had a rough pandemic year (which is all of us, right?) and need a nice, escapist romance that isn't going to pull any punches.

The Suite Life comes out 3/8/2022 but I couldn’t wait to read it!! I highly recommend this book so preorder it now!!

The Suite Life follows Rachel (Anna’s sister from The Float Plan) and her daughter Maisie as they move to Ohio to help run a brewery hotel. Mason, the owner, might have mislead Rachel with how much work was left to finish the hotel which turned out to be basically everything. Together Rachel and Mason fix up the brewery hotel while also working on themselves proving they make an excellent team in more ways than one.

The Beck Sisters!! I loved Anna’s story in The Float Plan and was really excited to read Rachel’s story. Rachel is amazing in so many ways! She’s an amazing mom and I love how she follows her career aspirations without sacrificing her time as a mom. Rachel found her peace and balance with Mason and having witnessed her sister’s grief and her recent firing, she understood Mason. Mason was still grieving when Rachel and Maisie walked into his world and breathed life back into him. Color returned back to Mason’s world and while he still needed a few moments every now and then it made me happy seeing him happy. Rachel and Mason (and Maisie) are so cute together!!

Thank you @stmartinspress @trishdoller and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback.

3.5 stars to this charming romance.

The Suite Spot is a heartwarming read with a great setting on an island in Lake Erie filled with quirky, relatable, and likable characters. My main gripes were that the conflict that showed up near the end was brought up and then resolved too quickly. I also would have liked to see more chemistry between the MC's. But overall, Trish Doller's writing and character building brought the story to life and resulted in an easy and comforting read.

FYI, while this could be read as a stand alone, I would suggest reading Float Plan first because it'll give you more context for Rachel's family dynamic (plus it's also just a fabulous read in and of itself).

My goodness, this book hit all the right spots for me.

With fantastic storytelling, vivid scenes played right out in my head. This sounds slightly odd, but I have a desire to go visit Kelleys Island in Ohio now. This book has that great feel of small town romances where the town and its people pull you in and make you fall in love with it.

Mason has such a heartbreaking past, and I love that Rachel is able to help him heal. There’s a definite grump and sunshine feel to this book, their friends to lovers romance felt very gentle, like they fell into it. I really loved that Rachel took a stand about how and when they started their relationship. Starting together on the right page felt so right for these characters.

There were hilarious moments in this book where I was laughing out loud. There was even a moment when I yelled, “Yes!” and did a fist pump. I fell in love with these characters, and their story. This book drew me in so fast, I finished it in a few hours.

This is a good book. The two main characters are Rachel and Mason. Rachel lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Mason lives on Kelly’s Island, Ohio. Rachel gets fired from her job as night manager in a hotel. She is a mother of a three year old, so she needs to find another job. She does, she gets a job at the inn that Mason is starting with his brewery. So she and her daughter move to Ohio.. Mason gives her more management job description.. she meets lots of people, gets a new best friend, and falls in love with Mason. Mason falls n love with Rachel and her daughter. They have some issues to deal with and find their way back each other.

I read The Float Plan and was enjoyed it so much, I was excited that Rachel was getting her own story. I enjoyed learning about how Rachel became a single mom and her efforts to make sure Maisie had access to both of her parents. This book was about growing and stepping outside of your comfort zone to get to where you need to be. I loved Mason. He was so broken, but also so wonderful. Mason and Rachel helped each other to grow into the people that they should be. While there were truly sad parts to this story, it was heart warming. I love when a book makes you smile when remembering it and this one does that.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press. All opinions expressed are my own.

The author writes in her acknowledgements : "Had 2020 not been such a traumatic year, The Suite Spot may have turned out to be a different book, but I found myself needing to tell a story that was warm and gentle." And warm and gentle it was. This book is such a cozy blanket of a read. The characters are just so lovable and authentic. Once again, I am happy to have read Trish Doller's writing and look forward to many more reads to come!

I. Loved. This. Book. Probably one of the best, most engaging books I have read all year. This grabbed me by the heart strings and didn't let go until the very last page. It's not often that you read fiction and really 100% feel like you're seeing the characters flaws and all, but this one does it. So, so good.

Loved the island community of characters and the setting, but was frustrated by the structure of the ending. Good for fans of Trish Dollar's previous romance and Christina Lauren.

There's something about books where the main character leaves their life to build a new one in a small town, middle of nowhere that I love. I really liked the small town setting of this book and seeing how Rachel and Maisie adapted to their new life and made connections with the people on the island. The book club meetings were some of the best bits. Sadly though, I wasn't feeling the romance at all, it was flat and even though it takes Rachel and Mason a while to get together it still feels like it comes out of nowhere. It felt like most of their connection happens off-page and Rachel's developing feelings for Mason weren't convincing to me. Also, I feel like I barely even knew who Mason was, apart from one conversation he had with Rachel that reveals some backstory it's as if we don't really know who he is or why he fell for Rachel. I liked the business and hotel they were building together, but the character and relationship development I wanted just wasn't there for me which was disappointing. Overall, 2.5/5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

The Suite Spot is a cute novel about single mother Rachel, who is trying to make the best life possible for herself and for her young daughter. I didn't realize until now-- coming to write this review-- that it was part of a series, so I hadn't read the previous book. I didn't feel like I was missing any information, or like there was any confusion as to the characters or chain of events, so I definitely think this works as a standalone piece. But that being said, based on the other reviews, it looks like maybe there's a nostalgia factor or an affinity for these characters and author that has made this book more appealing for them. For me, it was an enjoyable, quick read, but not something that will stick with me.

There were many things to love about this charming story. Not only are the characters real and relatable, their interactions felt as though I were watching friends journey through real-life situations with many of the same ups and downs that felt familiar. Though this might seem mundane, I can assure you it is anything but. The setting is charming and well described and the characters with their idiosyncracies and interactions are charming and a joy to follow through their journeys. I highly recommend this book as I consider it a "comfort read" that is sure to entertain and delight you at every turn.

Rachel Beck loves her job at a Miami Beach luxury hotel but she is fired for something that she didn't do. As a single Mom, she needs a new job immediately.. She receives an offer for a position at the brewery hotel on a tiny island in Lake Erie called Kelleys Island. She decides to pack up her whole life and make the move. When she arrives, she finds a handsome man that is an expert of brewing beer but knows nothing about running a hotel. in addition, the hotel is not yet built. This is her area of expertise and she gets the opportunity to build the hotel while rebuilding her life. She is welcomed into the community of this island and realizes that she made the right choice in coming to the island. This is a great story with some romance. I recommend it..

You guys. The Suite Spot by Trish Dollar. Precious. Simply put, a precious read. In her acknowledgements, Trish writes that she found herself "needing to tell a story that was warm and gentle." And friends, she did just that! I am so fond of these two characters and their story of starting on new adventures in the midst of and because of loss. Taking place between Florida and Ohio, Rachel and Mason's story is adorably sweet and full of patience. I found myself wanting an invitation to book club and brainstorming how I can create it in my own life! 😂 While this book has character cross over from Float Plan, The Suite Spot is a standalone read. {Although I highly recommend Float Plan while you're waiting for the release of The Suite Spot!} The Suite Spot will be released in March 2022 and is currently on pre-order.

I was floored by the first book in this sister series, Float Plan about Anna. What I thought might be a sad book featuring a woman who loses her fiancé to suicide, instead became a story of a woman finding herself in the middle of her grief. So when the book about Anna's sister popped up in NetGalley I jumped at it.

This book centers around Rachel, a basically single mother living with her own Mother in Florida and enjoying her job at a swanky hotel. Once she is accused of accosting a millionaire guest at the hotel, her life takes a drastic turn. She is fired from the job she adored. She feels desperate to replace her job as her daughter, Maisie, is still in preschool and Rachel life is all about providing for her and creating the best home life for her she can. Although Maisie's Dad is in the picture, he is barely there and is an immature, self-centered, low-motivation kind of guy.

Feeling low and ready for a new opportunity, she decides to accept a job at a start-up boutique hotel in Ohio. She packs everything up and decides to finally take a risk for the chance at her own happiness. Unfortunately, after arriving, she learns that the start-up hotel is still only an idea. She unsurprisingly is devastated to find out that she was mislead by her new boss, Mason. Mason informs her that although the job description has changed, he is confident that her background and previously developed skills are exactly what he needs to bring his concept to fruition. What began as simply an idea became the basis for an ingenious plan -a boutique hotel that combines a brewery with newly built cabins that were designed and decorated with a lake house feel. I'm ready to make my reservations now!

The rest of the story involves the process of Rachel and Mason learning to work together, Rachel and Maisie learning to adjust to their new life, Rachel becoming part of the community and of course Rachel and Mason finding that their attraction is mutual. Mason comes to the relationship with a past full of heartache and pain. Both Rachel and Mason were well developed characters. I really liked them individually and as a couple. I especially loved that the story mentions that Rachel is somewhat overweight, but does not zero in on it. It is part of her persona but it does not consume, define nor deter her. So many of the side characters were also well developed. I heard someone mention that they appreciated that Maisie was an honest depiction of a young child and I definitely agree. I was happy to see the realistic portrayal of the struggles a single mom faces daily.

I really enjoyed these characters and this story line - my one small disappointment was that the ending felt a little rushed. A story of second chances, taking risks, parenthood, friendship, and overcoming the past - it is one not to be missed. I read this one in a day because I just couldn't put it down. Definitely recommend.

I loved Float Plan so much that when I saw this book available on NetGalley I had to request.

The Suite Spot follows single mom Rachel (Anna from float plan’s sister) after she gets fired from her job at a luxury hotel. She and her daughter start over at a brewery hotel on Kelley’s Island, where she meets Mason, the hotel owner, who is also starting over.

Things I liked:
There was a plus-sized MC (Rachel) and a biracial MC (Mason was Japanese and white).

The setting. I love books placed in small island/wilderness style locations. I also love the hotel setting in general

The Communication: Rachel and Mason had good communication and good boundary setting.

The community: the author did a great job at incorporating side characters.

The focus on the brewing process and Japanese/German culture. While it wasn’t a huge part of the book, it was sprinkled in and I enjoyed them when I saw them.

Things that didn’t work as well for me:

-The ending was too rushed. The “problem” was introduced and resolved way too quickly. You know those videos where the kid freaks out in the water thinking they are drowning and then realize once they stand up, the water was only a foot deep…the ending gave me that type of vibe.

-Fade to black spicy times - it didn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the book but worth noting if you’re like me and prefer on page spice.

-The description described Mason as moody so I was expecting maybe someone similar to Jonah from the Simple Wild but Mason really didn’t seem to grumpy/distant. We were told he was but his interactions with Rachel didn’t seem too different to how any strangers would interact with each other. I wish he was either moodier at first or the moody description was in the blurb was changed to lost or something.

Overall, I did really enjoy this book. I would have read it in one sitting if I didn’t have to work. 4-4.5 stars.

Trish Doller is back with a follow up to THE FLOAT PLAN with THE SUITE SPOT, out everywhere March 8th 2022.

THE SUITE SPOT follows Anna' sister, Rachel Beck. Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, she is stuck in a rut. She has a great job, but she is in a half hearted relationship, living with her mom, and basically raising her toddler by herself. When she gets fired from her job and basically blacklisted from the Ft Lauderdale luxury hotel industry, Rachel hits rock bottom. A lucrative job opportunity presents itself... but just one problem, it's on a remote island in Ohio. Rachel uproots her daughter and her lives to move there to help transform a new resort and finds herself, new friends, and a new romance along the way.

THE SUITE SPOT was a breezy and uplifting Hallmark movie type of read. The FLOAT PLAN was one of my favorites this year so I was thrived that Trish Doller was expanding on the series with THE SUITE SPOT and I hope she continues to do so -- maybe a book for Anna and Rachel's mother? Loved the occasional Anna and Keane appearances. All in all, a solid feel good read. I'm excited to see what Trish Doller does next.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the SUITE SPOT in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to sharing this title with our blog audience and will keep it as a potential contender for a monthly pick for our book club.
