I wasn’t too sure if I would enjoy this based on the cover alone but the story quickly captured my attention and my heart. I just felt so connected to Gilbert as I was a child who also felt different than my peers.

I think this story is a great way to show kids that being you is perfect, no matter how different you may seem to those around you. There’s always people out there that will love you for you.

The art in here was also a ton of fun and would be a great read around Halloween!

4/5⭐️

A big thank you to NetGalley and Clavis Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is a children's book. This book was just fun. I loved the graphics. Gilbert was born different, he was pink not white. He didn't let that stop him. Just a fun story about being true to yourself and its okay to be different. 4 stars

THE CUTENESS!

Gilbert the ghost is an unusual ghost, or special, as his parents say.
Instead of frightening people, he is just very, very, very nice. He befriends a cat and their home is open to all ghosts.

I think this one is one that goes straight on my wishlist so I can have my own physical copy one day.

If you ignore the cute ghosts and all that, you have sweet story about how different does not mean bad, and that you will find your own path if you dare to look.

The arc was provided by the publisher.

Very cute children’s book. The illustrations are adorable. Teach children to be themselves, if you like yourself other will like you too.

All thoughts and opinions are my own, and in no way have I been influenced by anyone.

This is a very sweet book with adorable illustrations, but my favorite part is the blurb on the back of the book from the author! So cute.

A sweet story about a little ghost living his best life, accepting that he's different than the other little ghosts. Cute illustrations and a lovely story.

Gilbert the Ghost is not like the other ghosts at his school. While Gilbert enjoyed many of his classes, he seemingly did not want to scare people; he was unable to let out a sufficiently frightening boo. As a result Gilbert was banished. Young children see that this was not a bad thing however as Gilbert makes a friend in Meow. He also often welcomed his old school friends.

This is a simple story with dark toned but friendly illustrations. Children who are learning about ghosts may well enjoy this title.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Gilbert the Ghost is a very sweet story about a ghost that goes to ghost school but doesn't want to scare people. It has a great message that it's okay to be different than what's expected of you. The illustrations are very good. Overall, this is the perfect book to read kids around Halloween!

Cute story about a ghost that goes to ghost school but doesn't like the idea of scaring people!
He refuses to conform but lives a happy life in an abandoned tower with a black cat.
Sometimes it's good to be different!

This is an absolutely cute book! I'd love to read this to my kid when she is already able to understand what it means. I loved that it gave the reader the message of still finding your purpose even if it is not what you're being readied to do since you were a kid.

Very harming little book about a very cute little ghost. Perfect Halloween book for the little one with the thematic whiteout being scary! I loved it!

A cute little book about a quiet and friendly ghost who doesn't fit into the normal ghost stereotype.

This is literally the sweetest, cutest Halloween story ever.

I mean GIlbert is such a wonderful little ghost, the illustration just makes it so much cuter than you can even imagine!

I loved the unlikely friendship between Gilbert and meow, and how they ended up making a space for themselves, together, even if they were both in an abandoned place.

If you want to teach someone friendship, self-acceptance, the idea that it's okay to be different and that you will always find a place in the world... this is it!

And once again, how cute is Gilbert!

This is a beautiful book! People says that sometimes being unique means you're not useful. However, it was proven wrong by this book. The story just made me think that not being able to fit in is not a sin nor a shortcoming. It is the way you prove that you can do things and make positive things from negative inputs people or the world gave you.

I never thought ghosts would be this cute. Of course, except Casper.

I wish the cover was better than this because it doesn't do justice for the contents.

I love the story and the illustrations.

A good one. Apt for the kids.

Thank you, author and the publisher, for the advance reading copy.

An inventive way to show the benefits of being your own self, with a ghost demanded to leave Ghost School because he's not scary enough, and told to not come back until he is. With the help of a new, unlikely friend – why, he never even needs try and fit in with the old crowd. The lesson about not forcing yourself into a gang when you just don't fit, and finding happiness on your own terms, are most attractive ones, and the artwork almost matches.
