Oh my goodness this is a cute story! It's perfect for parents when bringing a new baby into the house or when the older child wants to play with the younger child. I love how the story includes a mixed race family and how the older sister tries so hard to make her brother laugh. I think children and parents will appreciate the humor in the story and how sweet the older sister is in trying to play with her baby brother. Loved it!

I liked how this book approached siblings, new siblings for that matter. How an older child wants to be involved with a new sibling but the sibling is too small. The story follows a little girl who just wants to get a smile from her baby brother like her parents do.

I loved the illustrations. They’re lovely and colourful.

This is a cute book about trying to get a baby brother to smile. From the cover, I thought it might have something to do with photography, but it didn't. (I was a little disappointed about that.)

I did like the enthusiasm of the big sister and the connection she eventually finds with her baby brother. (Although, I was a little grossed out at the end! Kids will probably find it funny. And it IS something that really can happen.)

Illustrations are quite cute.

Daisy wants her baby brother Miles to play with her and she is confused as to why he does not enjoy her tactics. Very cute and the ending was funny, my daughter was all "ewww HA HA HA HA HA". The illustrations are beautiful. I loved that Daisy's family is bi-racial. I would certainly buy this book and gift it to anyone adding another baby to their family.

‘Miles Won’t Smile’ is a children’s book that is focused on Daisy, attempting to make her baby brother smile. It is a charming story that perfectly demonstrates sisterly love. However, I wasn’t a fan of the illustration style.

I found this book to be very strange with the third person narration. I can't see the 4 year olds in my classroom enjoying this and I would find it painful to read to them

This is a sweet book that illustrates an aspect of becoming an older sibling in a hilarious way. Daisy is trying to get baby brother Miles to smile, but no matter what she does, he won’t. The diverse family (that mirrors many real life families, mine included!) is so wonderful! This is short and sweet, perfect for a bedtime story.

Thanks to Clavis Publishing and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Whew, this one leaves a lot to be desired. First of all, we have what seems to be the obligatory mixed race family, which is OK, but are all kids authors writing nothing but this?
Then we have poor Daisy whose little brother Miles won't smile at her. She gets toys ready and no matter what she does, Miles is hot happy. Confused as to Miles age, since at first he was a newborn, but the illustrations do not fit that criteria. Mom and Dad show Daisy how to make Miles smile (again are they bringing the baby home from the hospital, and if not why is Daisy clueless?) So now Daisy tries to imitate mom and dad and gets the opposite results. Nothing she does makes the baby smile. Then her mother allows her to change Miles diaper and while the diaper is off Miles pees on her. Miles now smiles. You Gotta be Kidding Me!!!!!

A fantastic story about a big sister who wants to make her little brother smile!

This book was a great length, the pictures are bright and colourful, and the story is sweet. I also adored that the family was interracial- this isn’t often found in children’s books!

As a mom with a 6 year old boy who loves a good poop joke 😅 he giggled like crazy at the ending!

Daisy is an excited big sister. She brings toys and arranges them for her little brother Miles. She wants to play with him and make him smile. Miles, however, has other ideas. He smiles and laughs when mom and dad play with him but doesn’t smile when Daisy tries to do the same.
Daisy keeps trying, finding new ways to entertain her little brother. Finally, she succeeds, but in a surprising way. The story is simple and endearing. It’s not uncommon to see the little ones go all moody and refusing to play with their sisters/ brothers. Miles is no different. However, Daisy doesn’t give up and wins him in the end.
The illustrations are very cute. I like the ones where Daisy dances and does cartwheels. A full page of Miles crying has to be the highlight of the illustrations. I chuckled at that one. This is a heartwarming little book, showing the love an elder sister has for her little baby brother.
Thank you, NetGalley and Clavis Publishing, for the ARC.

Thank you Netgalley for the e-book of Miles Won't Smile by Jackie Azua Kramer in exchange for my review.

Miles Won't Smile is a super cute book. Big sister Daisy is upset because Miles won't smile for her... until the unexpected happens! I think kids will really get a kick out that!

I really liked the fact that this book features a mixed-race family. We need more books for kids that feature different types of families!

I would definitely purchase this book.

Very easy read and for young children to understand. Shows a child learning and adapting which is very powerful.

Daisy is a loving big sister to her little brother Miles and wants to contribute to his happiness. Miles responds with smiles when Dad plays and tickles him and when Mom interacts with him in any way. He shows his adoration to his parents but not to Daisy. When she offers him toys and attention he cries. She sings to him, dances, and turns cartwheels for him but still Miles does not smile. Daisy so wants him to smile and to love spending time with her. What can she possibly do to make that happen?

The illustrations are wonderful enriching the text with emotion and action. Kids who have a new addition to their family will enjoy the book and it would be a great shower gift to give. I highly recommend the book.

Daisy wants very much for her baby brother to be a playmate, but doesn't quite understand that babies operate a bit differently. With good intentions and sweet support from her parents she tries many, many ways to get baby Miles to smile, only to finally succeed, in an inauspicious way!

This is a nice book about caring, loving siblings that young kids will easily relate to. There are lots of expressive sounds an actions that can be imitated to keep readers engaged.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

This book has a easy to read story that will keep the children interested during a reading session. The pictures are brightly coloured and there is a lot for the children to see on each page.
The story is about Daisy connecting with her new baby brother, which can be relatable to a lot of young children.
A few of the words are a bit advanced for the younger audience, such as pout and stream, but this can be used as a learning opportunity to extend the children's vocabulary.

This is an adorable picture book perfect for new siblings. The illustrations are lovely and the ending had me laughing out loud. I'd definitely purchase this as a baby shower gift.

This is a perfect book for little ones with baby siblings. Daisy is very happy to be a big sister and does everything possible to make his baby brother Miles smile. Miles goes goo-goo gaga with Mum and Dad, but he just doesn’t smile for Daisy. She coos, she tickles him, she makes silly faces, she gives belly rubs, but nothing works… until…….umm sorry, no spoilers here! Read with your kid to find out more!

I was blown away by Jackie Azua Kramer’s “The Boy and the Gorilla”. This book is a testament to the amazing range of her writing – from The Boy and the Gorilla’s sombre tone, to the sweet sibling story of Miles Won’t Smile.

This book opens the door into the world of children, where there is nothing but pure innocent love! A must-have for every home and every classroom!

This was a cute really children's book! My daughter really related to it because she has three little brothers and played with each in this way when they were newborns. Sweet storylines and nice graphics!

Thanks for the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review!

The book is very sweet and contains lovely illustrations. I love the message around new siblings and how they may not be exactly what the older ones expect.

I feel, however, that the ending could pack a bit more punch—although young readers may find the resolution funny, there isn't much of a lesson in it. I also would want the font size to be slightly larger; the italics are a bit difficult to read.

Overall, enjoyable for children. My little sister smiled while reading!
