I think you have to read the first book of the series to fully get the characters and the story. I was lost at the end. No flow to the story. Funny at places but just not throughout.

The sequel to the hilarious “Autopsy of a Boring Wife” (a book this reader adored) this edition follows the further adventures of Diane, a middle-aged housewife, deserted by her cheating husband in the first book, and now, two years later, working to regain some of her footing in her life as a single working woman, struggling parent of adult children, and newbie back on the dating scene.

Living in a duplex with her best friend Claudine, the two woman are raucous, vulnerable and wonderfully real. Dating and connecting in middle-age, (despite their attempts to the contrary) is no party. Buffeted by her beloved comfort bowls of cassoulet (aided by a beverage or two), as Diane stumbles with her now-rusty flirting, wards off the awkward advances of her hurting ex-husband, and attempts to focus her search for a new love on the handsome contractor, Guy, her warmth, compassion and care for the people in her life, buried somewhat under a brittle shell and a whole lot of insecurity, cannot help but captivate the reader.

Warm and witty, this is a put-your-feet-up-and-enjoy kind of read. I listened to the audio book and found both the translation and the narration perfectly suited to a joyful listening experience. With a few hearty laughs (and many delighted smiles) thrown in, tempered with lots of angst and a truckload of camaraderie, this book reads as an authentic and touching rendition of middle-age, parenting, troubled children, aging parents, and of course, the eternal (and hopeful) search for human connection.

A great big thank you to NetGalley and the author for an ARC of this book. All thoughts presented are my own.

This books was a fascinating look at a second chance at life. I loved watching the characters interact and grow. I loved the narrator and highly recommend the audio boom.

This book was fun and an easy read I spent the day in the garden and found it inspiring at times.

We meet Diane a middle aged women divorced, getting a new job and taking on new things in her life!

For the title well kinda was misleading as there wasn’t much revenge or as juicy as I had hoped but still good.

This book was also a translation and who ever did so did a great job!

A funny, quirky, cute read.
Following her divorce for being "boring", Diane decides to go out and have some well earned fun. She dials it up, with a new job, a new haircut, and a new boyfriend. I read the first book too, so in enjoyed seeing Diane bloom.

I enjoyed THE BORING WIFE SETTLE THE SCORE. It was a great look at life after divorce. I was happy that the story focused on Diane's journey moving forward. She wasn't still living in her divorce and working through it; she had come out on the other side and was now living her life with a new job and supportive friends. I also enjoyed that this didn't feel like one long story that carried on, but instead it was little insights/stories into Diane's life.

I must admit I picked this book based on the title and cover. For some reason this struck me as a drama/thriller, so I did spent the first part of the book waiting for some big mystery to occur. I finally read the description and realized it was the second book in Diane's story and then it all made a little more sense. I also kinda wish I had read the first one to know what she went through to really see how far she had come.

The audiobook was great. Translation was fantastic and narration was spot on.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I was really excited about reading this after seeing the title however it didn’t quite get as juicy as I thought it was going to. There wasn’t much conflict that occurred and while there was a little bit of revenge the whole book read a little too smooth and perfect for the mess that I was hoping it would be!

I enjoyed the audiobook I and cannot believe that this was not originally written in English. The translation was flawless and I give kudos to the translator.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars for this interesting yet rather uneventful read

Can't believe this book was not written in English. It does not feel like a translated book other than the French names, and it reads smoothly. I do not have a chance to read the first book in the series before this one. I was able to keep along and it kept me entertained. I wish it was a little longer. The story itself feels too smoothy and not much conflicts were going on. It was kind of all over the place for how short the book was but everything feels realistic.
Justine Eyre does a good job narrating. Each characters has a unique voice, so it is easy to distinguish who is talking. The speed and pacing are very relaxed but not slow.

3.5 out of 5 stars

Received a free audio ARC from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media in exchange for an honest review.

I read the first one. I have to say this was slighty better. But overall, I am not feeling with characters. It just missing something. Maybe it gets lost in translation.

Thanks so much to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sending me this copy!! 💙💙

Okay so the the begging of this book was a bit slow and it did have some good parts but … most of it was boring , and needed a little more flavor. I really enjoyed the scene where Diane had that guy in her house and was really flustered ! It was really entertaining. I also enjoyed the banter between her and her daughter, it was really comical! I personally would not recommend this to anyone but it wasn’t the worst book I have read this year.

Cover review: 4.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
I really loved the cover , I think it is really well put together! It’s definitely what made me request to read and review this from NetGalley !

A decent sequel, and I liked seeing what continued on with the same characters. It was a great light book to listen to, and the narration was great.

Thank you NetGalley for this delightful book. It’s not deep, its not complicated. It is a story of a middle aged woman trying to get through her life after a divorce. She has friends, at the start of the book she gets a job, she has wonderful children. She needs rebound sex. Her husband left her for “The Bimbo” and now it’s time she had some manly companionship. This book will resonate with anyone over a certain age who has had it up to here with fake anything. Cheer her on. Would be fun for a book club or just a few friends drinking rose to enjoy it more.

I listened to the audiobook and have to say it was fantastic! I found myself laughing out loud multiple times as I listened to the details of Diane’s shenanigans! She finds a new job and allows for her to meet someone she’s interested in dating. Again, this is such a funny, realistic look at a middle aged woman getting a second chance in love. Hilarious and fun. Entertaining but a short book!

Thank you @netgalley and Dreamscape Media for my advanced audiobook copy for my honest opinion.

In the first book in this series, 'Autopsy of a Boring Wife', Diane Delaunais's husband Jacques leaves her for a younger woman after 25 years of marriage. Diane becomes undone and acts out in a series of dramatic (and often funny) ways.

'A Boring Housewife Settles the Score' opens two years later. Diane is now almost 50-years-old; sharing a Québec duplex with her best friend Claudine; looking for a new job; and speculating about romance at her age. I listened to the audiobook version of the novel.

As the story opens, Diane has more or less moved on after Jacques betrayal and is looking for new challenges. Not wanting another office job, Diane gets a position as a kindergarten aide in a primary school. The divorcée is soon dealing with a classroom of active children - some of whom are more idiosyncratic than others.

One boy smashes toys; one boy won't speak; and one girl obsessively counts cards. Given the job of talking to the the toy-breaker's father, Diane is told the child is 'too smart', shown by his ability to do Legos above his age range. Meanwhile the other teachers, who've heard it all before, are giggling behind their hands. In any case, Diane is a fine aide and goes out of her way to connect with the kids.

One perk of working at the school is the presence of a handsome contractor named Guy, who's doing renovations on the building. Diane knows Guy slightly, and - encouraged by her friend Claudine - considers making a move on him. Diane and Claudine first try to determine Guy's relationship status, but they can't find it on the internet.....and Diane takes a bold step to find out what's what.

Diane also has a couple of interactions with her ex-husband Jacques: one time when she sees him in the pharmacy and another time when he crashes his bicycle and gives her number to the hospital. In addition to being stressed by his postpartum girlfriend and their newborn, Jacques wants Diane to be friendly with his new family (he always was a bit obtuse). However Diane has other thoughts about this.

In their spare time Diane and Claudine socialize with friends at Happy Hour; drink wine; eat pizza, and dine on cassoulet; and talk about getting a man, which (they think) isn't so easy for mature ladies. In one hilarious scene Diane is on the verge of getting lucky when Claudine's teenage daughter Adèle strolls into her apartment without even knocking.

Additional characters add amusement and interest to the story. These include Diane's colleagues at school, such as an overstretched secretary, a cantankerous teacher, and a restless twentysomething; Claudine's eighty-four year old mother, who takes charge when young Adèle gets too defiant; a nonagenarian lady with too many cats; Diane's three-legged feline; Diane and Claudine's VERY handsome acquaintance; Diane's grown children; and more.

In this book middle-aged women CAN go on after desertion and divorce.....and the cheating hubbies who left them may not have it so easy. Is this realistic? Probably sometimes.

The sequel isn't as laugh out loud funny as the first book, but provides some smiles and is worth reading. The book is translated from the French, and the audiobook narrator does an excellent job with tone and nuance.

Thanks to Netgalley, Marie-Renée Lavoie, and Dreamscape Media for a copy of the book.

✔ Yes, I recommend this product.

A sequel just as wonderful as the first book! I was happy to catch up with Diane and laugh as she settles the score and had bottles of temporary solutions with Claudine. Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to review an advanced copy.

This review was hard to write - while I tried to focus only on the book, it was hard. Since I received an advanced audio copy I obviously listened to this one, but as with all NetGalley audio books, the audio was so tinny, echo-y, stuck in a chamber that I actually found it hurt my ears as I listened.

With that set aside, I just never connected with the character/story. It felt too out there and unbelievable and not well translated if that makes sense?

Not my cup of tea.

Overall I think this book might be interesting- but I had a hard time connecting with the characters or the plot. It was read well by the narrator but it is slow moving

An entertaining coming of middle-age story featuring the return of Autopsy of a boring wife's Diane and her adventures working at an elementary school, falling for a hot construction worker and figuring out what life in her 50s is going to look like. Funny, heartwarming and thoroughly enjoyable. Fans of The Class mom books will find lots to like in this book. I thought this English translation worked really well on audio narrated by Justine Eyre. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my ALC.

Apparently, this is a second book and it is supposed to be funny. I found the Boring Wife to be pretty boring. The main character seemed to be just...annoying. She was childish and the situations were not terribly realistic. Maybe it was an issue with translation, but I could not like the characters in the book, did not find them to be funny, and really didn't care what they did.
